#8 of Armageddon [Abandoned, superseded by Acolytes of the Apocalypse]

A new Pokemon series I've decided to write, depicting a human named Richard, who finds a Sneasel that agrees to be his Pokemon. This is a story about their survival in a series of devastating natural disasters. Will they have the courage and strength to survive the incoming Armageddon? Only time will tell.

Hey there! This is a new series that I'll be writing, called "Armageddon"! It's a Pokémon story; some scenes in this story may be slightly disturbing to some readers. There will also be a few 'suggestive' scenes as well. However, those will be very few and far between. For a lot of reasons, this story is going to be focused on plot development for the most part. Also, keep in mind that I am not the most knowledgeable about Pokémon, so excuse any spelling errors or mistakes in the naming of certain places, items, etc.

Pokémon™ is intellectual property of Nintendo© and Game Freak, Inc. respectively.

Here is some information about the story format:

Armageddon: Chapter 6 - "Imprisonment"

"I want a search party consisting of your most experienced men to be established at Fuchsia City."

"Anything for a client that is willing to pay such a high price. But tell me, what happens on the off chance they escape?"

"For your sake, you better hope they don't."

"Heh, fair enough I guess. Do you want us to send scouting parties into the surrounding areas as well, Victor?"

"That won't be an issue. I know exactly where they are."

"Okay, what do you want us to do when we find em'?"

"Bring them to me. I'll take care of them myself."

"As you wish. However, this job will not be done unless we are paid in full, first."

"..."

"W-where'd you get that a weapon like that?"

"I'm not paying a damn cent. Now you do as I say, or I will blow your brains out! Understand?!"

"... Very well." *click* "Attention all personnel, I need the most experienced men to meet a client and I near Fuchsia City at once!"

"..."

"..."

"It is done."

"Glad we could negotiate this deal."

"... Likewise."

Richard walked through the narrow corridor leading into his room at the Pokémon Center. "Mia, I'm back!" He exclaimed happily as he casually opened the door. Two glowing, golden eyes slowly opened in the pitch black darkness, and locked their gazes onto him. Feeling a little creeped out; Richard quickly flicked the light switch. The two golden eyes immediately transformed into a sleek, snow white figure with jet black claws, and a few golden feathers.

"Did you get the Poke ball fixed?" Mia asked sheepishly; rubbing the side of her right arm with her claws while her pupils shifted downward to the ground.

"Of course! I also got you a little something as well." Richard articulated cheerfully. He set down a thin plastic bag onto Derek's bed and immediately pulled Mia's newly repaired ball from one of his back pockets. Carefully extending his arm, he held it in front of Mia to show her. Mia quickly took the ball from Richard's hands, and then closely examined it; making sure that the paint didn't have any marks or scratches on it.

"It still looks brand new!" She said cheerfully.

"You bet." Richard confidently proclaimed. "You wanna know what else I got you?" He said as a slight grin crept into his expression.

Mia's eyes beamed. "Yes! ...um. If you don't mind..." She trailed off as she tried to calm herself down. Richard chuckled and held out the plastic bag in his outstretched arms towards her. Mia carefully took the plastic bag from his hands; being sure not to tear a hole in it with her claws. Once she took hold of it; she could hear a slight jingling noise. Her expression lit up like a wildfire at the thought of what it was. She anxiously peered into the open hole at the top of the bag, her suspicions confirmed.

"A Soothe Bell!" Mia burst out in surprise; she anxiously reached for a black ornate box resting at the bottom of the plastic bag and cradled it between her claws. She then gently opened the cover of the box. A single silver bell was attached to a red, velvet strap. A golden trim accenting the edges of said strap.

"... F-For me?" Mia asked at a near whisper in astonishment.

"No, I bought it for Derek so he could wear it at the next fashion show." Richard replied sarcastically. "Of course it's for you!" He exclaimed happily as he sat down on the bed next to her. "Do you want to try it on?"

Mia erratically nodded her head in elation while she reached out to give the soothe bell to Richard. He took the soothe bell from her open claw. Cautiously, Richard held both ends of the strap; extending his arms towards Mia. She raised her head slightly to make it easier for him to put the bell around her neck. Once he did so, she stared at the bell around her neck as it moved and jingled with every motion.

"Well, how is it?" Richard asked with a trace of excitement in his voice.

Mia grasped the bell in her claws and held it to her chest, then looked up at Richard. Her expression showing more appreciation than saying "Thank you" a thousand times ever could. "I...It's..." She was having trouble coming up with words. This gift meant far more to her than any other gift that was given before, as Soothe Bells are used to strengthen the bond between a trainer and his or her Pokémon; whether Richard knew that or not, she couldn't tell.

After a few moments, Mia finally found the words she was looking for.

"It's... absolutely astonishing." Mia quietly whispered. "H-how did you get your hands on something like this? They don't sell these at the shops, do they?"

"I traded with someone for it." Richard simply replied. "Exactly how much I traded is irrelevant." He added. Mia slowly nodded; she understood what he was trying to say.

Richard's focus suddenly snapped to realization. Taking a second glance at Derek's bed; his expression turned into one of worry. "Uh, Mia?" Richard nervously whispered as she fooled around with her Soothe Bell.

"Hm?" She responded innocently.

"Where's Derek?" He asked breathily, the expression on his face becoming more bothered. Mia suddenly ceased all movement, and subsequently raised her head to meet his gaze.

"I thought... he was with you." Her demeanor transformed from elation to concern in an instant.

"No." He paused for a moment to analyze the room. "Wait a minute..." Richard shakily spoke. "W-where's my katana?!"

Mia's eyes went wide as a thought hit her like a sack of bricks. Richard suddenly shot up from his sitting position; apparently thinking the same thing. "You don't think he would..." His voice trembled.

"We need to find him!" She implored; jumping off of the bed and outspreading her arms.

Richard briskly walked over to the night stand and gathered his backpack, then fastened his Poke ball belt to his waist. "Let's get moving." He stated in a demanding tone while waving his arm forward in a circular arc; urging Mia to follow. She complied without speaking a word; her Soothe Bell jingling around as she followed him down the stairs and outside of the Pokémon Center.

"Where do you think he would go?" Mia worriedly asked once they were out the door.

Richard stopped and quickly glanced to his left, then his right. Knowing Derek, he was probably out there trying to get his revenge on whoever killed Isabel. Therefore, he would be at the one place where he had the best chance at encountering the supposed assailants. "This way!" Richard shouted; quickly turning left and sprinting at full force. Mia flinched at his sudden revelation, before catching up and following closely behind while wondering exactly where their final destination would be.

Mia once again found herself in the same forest between Cerulean and Fuchsia city. The trees of the massive forest that surrounded them cast a never-ending shadow along the narrow and uneven dirt trail; the night time sky giving an ominous feel to the area.

"What makes you think he would be here?" Mia inquired skeptically.

"An educated guess." Richard resounded in a flat tone. He reflexively tensed his muscles, not in the mood to be interrogated. His muscles eventually relaxed though; as nothing but silence came afterwards. The only noise being the slight breeze rustling the foliage overhead and the light trickle of a nearby waterfall.

"Sooo... How much you wanna bet we're going to get ambushed?" Mia sardonically asked with a haughty tone. She crossed her arms and slowly glanced at the dense forest to either side of the trail.

"I'd buy a lottery ticket with those chances." Richard quipped, a slight grin appearing on his face.

"Honestly, I kind of hope we get ambushed. I've got some serious leveling to do." Mia purposefully mocked, snickering to herself.

"Careful what you wish for..." A scratchy voice sounded from behind them. They both suddenly turned around to face the direction of where the voice came from; finding a lone Floatzel standing defiantly. Richard and Mia both sighed and rolled their eyes at the cliché of the moment. Both failed to recognize that the Floatzel spoke English.

"Ugh, we don't have time for this!" Richard groaned. "Mia. End this quickly; we've got places to go." He said in a bored tone.

"Will do." She confidently resounded as she took a few steps towards the headstrong Floatzel; clacking her claws together menacingly.

The Floatzel stood steadfast, unimpressed by Mia's attempts to faze him. "You're going to have to try harder than that." He said with the same bored tone that Richard had used earlier.

"Hey, Mia. Wanna try the new move you learned?" Richard sounded from behind her confidently.

"Sure!" She continued, staring at the Floatzel with a cocky expression. The immediate area around them suddenly dropped tens of degrees as she leaned forward and opened her mouth. A dense flurry of abnormally large snowflakes emanated from Mia; hurling towards the Floatzel at a startling velocity.

The Floatzel was not expecting this, and had no chance to block her attack. He took the attack full force, and slammed into a stray tree at the side of the path; wincing in pain from the impact.

"You'll regret that!" The Floatzel sneered once he recovered from the attack. He suddenly stood up and changed his stance, spreading his legs and reaching out with his arms to both of his sides. A sonic pulse of air spread throughout the area, knocking both Richard and Mia from their feet.

Richard rested on his elbows as Mia quickly leaped back to a standing position, and then launched herself into the air. Reaching behind her head with her left claws; poised to deliver a mighty slash to the Floatzel. He was expecting this, and quickly ducked while grabbing Mia by her right arm. He swung her in a circular motion several times and gained momentum as a result, then released his grasp as she was launched several yards away in a graceful arc and harshly hit the ground; a cloud of dust emanating from where she had landed. He cracked his neck a couple of times by tilting his head at seemingly uncomfortable angles with his paws. "I'm just getting warmed up." He cockily sneered as he casually strolled towards Mia.

Richard finally managed to regain his footing. He desperately analyzed the area for any sort of blunt object to use as a weapon, only coming up with several twigs strewn across the ground. Finding the analysis to be unfruitful, he hesitantly changed into a fighting stance, looking for a perfect moment to strike.

The Floatzel was too distracted to notice Richard's intentions as he stood above Mia, who was resting on one knee. An evil grin appeared on his face as he wrapped one of his paws around her neck, and raised her up into the air; slowly drawing back the other paw to deliver a devastating blow. "Any last words?" He asked with pure hostility. Mia's arms hung limply to her sides as she stared at the Floatzel with an equal amount of spite.

"Aw, what's wrong? Did your cockiness get the best of you?" He mocked while snickering. "I guess I'll be the one that finishes you quickly." He remarked; swinging his fist forward with full force.

A sickening *CRACK!* echoed in the immediate vicinity as the Floatzel released his grasp, allowing her to fall a couple of inches before delivering his punch. The sheer force of the hit threw Mia away like a discarded toy. Her body showed no movement as she landed with a soft *thud*.

"MIA!" Richard yelled at the top of his lungs. Feeling nothing but fury, he darted towards the attacker; wanting nothing more than to kick the Floatzel in his smug face. Richard leaped and spun in the air with one of his legs extended, hoping to land a hit.

The kick hit its mark as the Floatzel flew several feet from the surprising force of the attack. He began to stand back up; only to have his face was pounded mercilessly. One fist after another hammered into his skull. Only a few seconds had passed before the Floatzel was synced up with Richard's movements; perfectly blocking the attacks with his paws. He then took a hold of one of Richard's wrists mid-punch and twisted the arm into an impossible angle. The relentless punches faltering as he did so.

Richard fell to his knees and cried out in pain as his arm kept twisting further and further. Until it stopped right where he felt it was about to snap.

"What's this...?" The Floatzel hissed. "A trainer defending his Pokémon?"

A few seconds of silence passed between them; their intense gazes at one another speaking for them. The Floatzel suddenly took on a look of acknowledgement.

"Hm...You certainly don't see that every day." The tone of the Floatzel's voice betrayed his actions as a loud *SNAP!* resounded from Richard's arm.

Richard gasped at the sensation emanating from his right elbow. His vision slowly decayed as he began to slip from consciousness from the sheer intensity of the pain.

"I'll allow you and your Pokémon to live. But make no mistake, if we ever meet again, I will not be so forgiving." The Floatzel released his grasp of Richard's arm; watching his body fall to the ground and his mind slip from consciousness all at once.

The Floatzel began walking away from the scene. He stopped himself before vanishing into the forest, taking one last glance at the scene before him; his expression turning into one of sorrow.

He pulled out what looked to be a handheld communication device hidden behind his scarf and held it to his mouth with both paws. "They have been subdued." The Floatzel stated in a flat tone. Static emanated from the radio for a few seconds before another voice sounded from the small speaker on the device. "Excellent, we will be there for extraction in exactly five minutes."

The Floatzel stared at the two broken bodies on the ground. "Yes, sir." He tried to say in an emotionless tone. A few moments later, he put the device back into its original hiding place.

"May Arceus have mercy on these poor souls." He said with a voice full of regret.

With a heavy sigh, the Floatzel vanished into the underbrush, leaving no trace.

The roaring sound of multiple engines could be heard as a single heavily armored van escorted by a couple of rusted pickup trucks entered the scene and suddenly screeched to a halt. Two ominous figures stepped out of the heavily armored vehicle; flashlights in hand. One of which was smiling maniacally. His tan trench coat fluttering in the wind, and his revolver making a light clinking sound against his belt as he casually made his way towards his two targets. The man walking with him showing indifference to the scene before him.

"Third time's the charm." Victor chuckled as he looked down at both of the unconscious bodies. He kneeled down to get a good look at Richard, flinching a little at the state of his arm. "That'll definitely be a handicap in the arena..." Victor whispered to himself; shaking his head. He then turned his attention to Mia, seeing that she was actually coming to her senses. The Sneasel's eyes fluttered open, her face contorting in anger as she laid them on Victor.

"Well, well, well..." Victor sneered. "Looks like nap time is over."

He quickly glanced over his shoulder and waved for a few of the henchmen.

"Load em' up and notify me when they arrive. I want to make their stay as... pleasant... as possible." He said with an evil smirk on his face. The henchmen did as they were told, and immediately loaded Richard and Mia into the heavily armored van. Mia never ceasing her fierce glare at Victor as she was being carried and restrained by the henchmen when they walked by. Victor rubbed his chin thoughtfully; watching the Sneasel get haphazardly thrown into the van.

"...and I'll make sure your stay is extra special."

Concrete. Iron bars. Unconscious Sneasel.

That seemed like a pretty thorough summary of what Richard woke up to. His mind was still scrambled from the intense pain caused by his right arm. The concrete floor wasn't doing much to help alleviate the pain, either. With a strained sigh, Richard sat up against the wall opposite the rusted iron bars that trapped them in the small cell. The cell itself had to be no larger than a ten-by-ten foot square. Thankfully, the ceiling itself was relatively high up; he estimated it to be enough space for him to fully stand, with some headroom to spare. Richard squinted his eyes in the darkness, the only dim light coming from the end of an adjacent hallway. A small amount of movement caught his attention; noticing that Mia was finally stirring. She let out a pained whimper as she opened her eyes that ended up staring directly into his.

"That fucking...bastard." Mia venomously whispered.

Richard stared at her for a moment, raising an eyebrow.

"He captured us. We are...imprisoned." She continued in a low voice.

"He?" Richard asked quizzically, while crossing his arms.

"Victor... the hunter."

"You mean, poacher?" Richard pointed out.

"Do semantics really fucking matter right now?!" Mia hissed while sitting up. She placed a claw on her forehead. "God damnit, I can't tell if I still have a headache from that TM, or if it's from seeing Victor again..."

Richard shrugged.

"Whatever, not important right now... we're pretty much trapped." Mia crawled over to the same wall Richard was sitting against, and laid back next to him. She idly rolled her soothe bell in between her claws while in thought.

Richard scratched his chin as he analyzed the cell. It was pretty secure alright, there were no visible weaknesses that he could see. Nor were there any sort of ways to get out of the cell to begin with. It was then a sudden realization hit him.

"Why do you think Victor put us in a cell together?" Richard asked with both a suspicious and grateful tone of voice.

"Probably so we can watch each other slowly rot away and die." Mia flatly murmured.

Richard shook his head slightly. "The doom and gloom isn't exactly helping our situation in any way." He said with a frown.

"Yeah? Well, what do you expect me to be like right now? Am I supposed to be imagining myself frolicking through a field of daisies?" She sarcastically replied in an irritated manner.

'This is going to be a fun time.' Richard caustically thought to himself.

'You bet.' A haunting voice resonated throughout Richard's head. He jumped up in surprise, almost falling over from his already unstable footing. Mia jumped at Richard's sudden movement, her heart beating at a thousand miles per hour.

"What the hell are you doing?!" She exclaimed. Making it sound more like a statement than a question.

"I heard... a voice. In my head." Richard slowly spoke in-between strained breaths. He slowly surveyed the visible area outside of the cell for any suspicious movement. His shoulder suddenly feeling a lot colder for some reason.

'Boo.' A Mismagius whispered in an emotionless tone as she suddenly appeared out of thin air. Staring face-to-face with Richard.

Richard felt his heart skip a beat, and his stomach churn. He then fell over onto the ground, nearly fainting from such a close encounter.

The three ruby-colored gems on the ghost's chest glowed brightly. They looked to be absorbing some kind of energy. The Mismagius letting out a satisfied hum as they did so.

'Ah, yes. Fear. The most delectable of emotions.' The ghost resounded in the same haunting voice as before.

"Hey! Leave him alone!" Mia finally spoke out when she finally regained her composure. Raising a claw to the ghost threateningly. The Mismagius looked unimpressed; just like the Floatzel they encountered had less than a day before. The never-ceasing grin on the ghosts face remaining unchanged, even the odd squiggle it ended in didn't move a decimeter.

'I suggest you don't threaten me like that.' The Mismagius chided.

"Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it?" Mia responded in the same scolding manner.

A purple glow emanated from the ghost, it looked like the Mismagius was trying to do something, but couldn't. It tried a few more times before it finally wore itself out.

'...You are very lucky.' She said in an angry hiss; lowering herself to be at eye level with Mia. 'These walls are infused with silver, and an electromagnetic pulse generator prevents me from using my special abilities.' The Mismagius continued with a disappointed huff, while crossing her long arms.

'Well... that is... until I'm inside of the arena." Her never-ending grin seemed to grow a little wider when she said that.

Mia gazed at the ghost Pokémon, slightly confused. "Wait... arena?"

The ghost's expression lit up at the question. She quickly flew around both Richard and Mia a few times, before stopping in the same position as she was in before. 'You two are new here, aren't you?' She asked in somewhat of a condescending tone.

Richard and Mia both nodded in unison.

'Well, I suppose I'll just be as straightforward with this as possible.' The ghost continued. She began to slightly sink into the floor as she thought of how to explain the situation to the both of them. The pupils of her eyes glancing around the cell in seemingly random directions.

She took in a deep, ghastly breath. 'To put it simply, you will be fighting to secure your freedom. Or die trying.'

Richard and Mia's eyes went wide.

'There also can only be one victor.' The ghost continued, glancing back and forth between the two. 'You both are now essentially puppets to be used as entertainment for the masses.' The Mismagius continued with a simple shrug of her shoulders. 'As am I. As are the rest of the contestants.'

Richard slowly turned towards Mia, as she did the same. They both stared at each other for a few moments. Before re-establishing eye contact with the Mismagius.

"Wait a minute... for the masses?" Richard suddenly asked.

The Mismagius nodded. 'Yes. Most Humans and Pokémon seem to believe this is just a staged reality show." She scornfully murmured. 'When it is the exact opposite.'

"How do people not know about the truth, if it is broadcasted so openly like that?" Richard asked.

'They keep their secrets hidden well.' She continued matter-of-factly. 'As far as the blood and gore goes, people pass that off for special effects.'

Richard and Mia both shook their heads in disbelief. Followed by a tense silence that engulfed the room.

'...Well, I best be going. I hope you two have a lot of combat experience, or at least have luck on your side.'

"...I suppose we are somewhat lucky." Richard meekly responded as he scratched the back of his head.

'Good. You will need all of the luck you can get. Trust me." After those words were spoken; the Mismagius subsequently vanished into thin air.

"That was. Interesting." Mia quickly chimed in, getting a quiet chuckle from Richard.

"You're telling me." Richard responded with another stifled chuckle. "She actually wasn't that bad, for a ghost Pokémon."

'WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!' Richard and Mia both heard the all too familiar voice scream in their heads. They both clutched their temples from the ensuing migraine.

"I didn't... mean it... like that." Richard replied submissively, with both hands on his temples.

'You better not have, or I'll make sure you have a lot of fun when your time comes to face me.' Two glowing, red eyes visibly flashed and dissipated outside of their cell all in a single moment.

Richard shivered at the thought of fighting the Mismagius, or really any other Pokémon for that matter. He didn't have his katana on him, which could have been his life-line, considering he was comparatively weaker than most other Pokémon of his size. Especially without some sort of weapon.

'You honestly think they wouldn't supply you with a weapon? I don't think you are grasping the concept of what I just told you.' The Mismagius echoed through his head again.

"Don't you have somewhere to be?" Richard huffed.

The Mismagius gave an audible, irate sigh. 'These fights are for nothing but entertainment. A total annihilation is not entertaining. Therefore, they will supply you with some sort of armament.'

"Well that's comforting to know." Richard replied sarcastically.

No response.

~XXXXX~

Half an hour went by, until Richard could finally breathe easy; thinking the Mismagius to be gone for the moment.

Mia was no longer standing idly by him, but instead sleeping on the cold and hard concrete floor. Silent tears ran down her cheeks as she slept. Her body kept on twitching and convulsing violently during her slumber, to which Richard assumed to be some sort of nightmare.

He shook his head, and walked towards the iron bars that restricted them, then grazed his fingers a crossed them. Feeling the coarse texture against his smooth fingertips, he examined the spaces in-between the bars; gauging if the beam from a Poke ball could fit through. He reached for his belt, but once his hand hit his side, he felt nothing but the trim of his jeans.

"Damnit, they took my belt." Richard angrily whispered to himself. His imagination started running wild with various situations about what could happen. What if they would win? Only to have Victor capture her for eternity...or worse.

He unexpectedly lashed out at the thick iron bars with his good arm; the cylinders of metal making a loud clashing noise, then a low metallic drone that echoed throughout the immediate area and down the long, dreary corridors as his fist hit the bars. Richard grimaced in pain, but needed to get his frustrations out somehow.

Mia slowly opened her eyes at the loud noise, and locked her gaze onto Richard.

She shook her head subtly against the ground. "That isn't going to help."

Richard grunted in pain as he crossed his arms and stared at the area outside of the cell while leaning against one of the concrete walls. Several seconds went by before he spoke.

"...I don't think we're going to live through this."

Mia rolled over and placed both of her hands on the ground, then pushed herself up into a standing position. She dusted herself off with her claws as she stepped towards Richard, and then crossed her arms while looking at him with impartial dejection. "We still need to try, at the very least."

Richard painfully uncrossed his arms and stood straight once more. "What's the point, if at the end of it all I'll still lose you anyway?" He ruefully murmured as he hung his head.

Mia took in a deep breath, and stepped forward until she was standing right in front of Richard. She stared up at him with determination in her eyes, and motioned for him to get at eye level. Richard complied and slowly crouched down; both of them gazing at each other with fondness, melancholy, and... something else either of them couldn't figure out.

Mia raised a clawed hand and gently poked one of the two sharp fingers against Richard's chest. "You won't lose me." She calmly whispered.

Richard slowly looked down at the claw uncomfortably poking him in the chest, before locking his gaze back on Mia. The same look of determination still in her eyes.

"Is that a promise?" He bitterly replied.

Mia closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath. "That isn't a promise..." She started.

"...it's a guarantee."
