#2 of Jason's Nightmare

Part 1 of Jason's Nightmare, the side story to BridgeToPeace's Pokemon High School series. The characters, except Jason, belong to BridgeToPeace (if the name is Japanese, it's his) but the story is mine.

In this chapter, they are introduced to the background of the mountain, Jason enjoys nature once more and he is given a curse. Just read the story to find out what i mean. Again, i hope i was able to portray Raiki correctly.

"Welcome to the Mountain of Revelation!" Said professor Kashikoi, the Mewtwo greeted with arms spread wide. "I am certain you will enjoy your stay here."

The students of Tokugawa High each said their greeting in unison and bowing their heads. Later, they were given a tour of the mountain and lectured with its history. "In the past, a few hundred years ago, this mountain was used as a pilgrim sight." Professor Kashikoi said as he led the group through the winding path in the dense jungle. "The sages of the past would make their way to the top of this mountain to meditate and keep in touch with the spiritual realm."

"Do they still hold the pilgrims?" Guren asked, the gardevior following close behind their guide.

"No my dear, I'm afraid not." Kashikoi answered, his tone full of sadness. "The order... the bloodline that felt the resonance of the mountain was slaughtered a long time ago. Ever since then, no one saw purpose in this mountain."

"Why were they slaughtered?" Jason asked, the lucario pushing leaves off of his face.

"You don't seem familiar to me." Kashikoi said, not looking back but acknowledging Jason's presence. "Are you a new student?"

"Yes sir." Jason answered. "I'm Jason Alexander, I moved from the US a few weeks ago."

"Ah, yes, I've heard so much about you from your parents." Kashikoi said with a tone of amusement. "But ask about how I know them later. Regarding your first question, the Xenons, the people who had the ability to see visions and those who held pilgrims to this place, were slaughtered because they posed a threat to the politicians due to their uncanny ability of foresight. The political leaders saw them as a threat that they might spread secrets and information."

"Serves them right." Raiki mumbled, the luxray sounding quite annoyed by the thick undergrowth that pestered with his space.

"Not really." Kashikoi pointed out. "I know you have a reputation of despising the traitorous but the Xenons weren't traitorous in any way. They didn't care for politics whatsoever. They merely cared for the safety of their people."

"They don't sound quite Japanese." Guren said. "Were they Greek?"

"Yes, excellent observation!" Kashikoi praised. "The Xenons are a group of oracles scattered all across the globe. They were gifted with knowledge, both with this world and that of others. Sadly, their kind is slowly fading away."

"Sir, you mentioned something about... feeling the resonance of the mountain." Guren said. "What do you mean by that?"

"Some say that the mounted connects this world and the next." Professor Kashikoi answered. "Others say that the mountain itself is alive. Nobody really knows what the Xenons see when they're here or how they see them."

The mountain was full of life and majesty. From the foot to the peak, it would be impossible to deny the scene. Forests of beautiful trees coated the foot of the mountain and as you ascend, the forest melts into plain with lush grass and fragrant flowers. At the peak however, was the best part. The mountain had the view of a beautiful valley down below with rivers and streams dotting the landscape. On the other side you can see the city, bustling with life and lights even in the bright of noon.

Jason found himself staring again, he couldn't believe the nature the place had. When he first set foot in Japan, all he found was modern city and concrete walls. His first week in Japan was full of homesickness; he missed the smell of the forest. Now it was right in front of him and beneath his feat, the nature he so longed to have.

"Is this everything you hoped for?" Guren asked as she walked up from behind Jason.

Jason was speechless, he couldn't move his hands or feel his feet. He was totally immobilized and breathe-taken. "Uh huh..." Jason forced out in response to Guren's question.

"You two, come!" Raiki called out from the group. "Professor Kashikoi will show us to the cabins!"

Professor Kashikoi led them down the steps on the side of them mountain leading to some wooden lodges, probably about 2 dozen small ones and one huge one in the center. "You will all be sleeping in pairs." Kashikoi announced. "the males on the first 12 and the females in the other. Now I will be announcing who will be sleeping with who."

"We don't get to choose who we get to be with?" one of the students asked.

"No." Kashikoi answered. "This is for disciplinary purposes. If you get to choose who you'll be with, then we have no guarantee of your discipline."

As the professor went on about his list of partners, some of the students mumbled their complaints to themselves. Some were satisfied with who they ended up with whilst others didn't like their fate. Jason felt like he'd be on neutral grounds, he didn't really like being with anyone other than Guren so he knew he wouldn't enjoy his stay... little did he know the worst was still possible.

"Alexander Jason and Kizu Raiki," Kashikoi called out. "You two will be sleeping in lodge number ten."

The two of them stared at Kashikoi in disbelief, wide-eyed and mouth agape. "You've got to be kidding me." Jason mumbled under his breath. A few feet away, he could feel Guren sigh in anxiety. She has put it upon herself to stop the two from fighting and now they are sleeping in the same room together.

"Sir, I really have to object." Raiki protested in desperation. "If you have arranged us to maximize discipline, pairing me and Jason is a bad idea."

"Nonesense." The mewtwo replied with a smile on his face. "You two would make a brilliant pair."

"But--"

"To your cabins, now!" Kashikoi commanded, startling Jason and Raiki into hurrying to the cabin.

"Just so we're clear," Raiki said once they had settled in. "You are to be at your best behavior when you're here. I don't want to see you acting all stupid--"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Jason answered in irritation.

Raiki growled in anger, showing his canines. "I just said--"

"I know what you said, okay!" Jason exclaimed. "I know how to discipline myself, I don't need to be reminded! Just stop scolding me, yelling at me or getting mad at me. I have no quarrel with you, I don't care whether you're top dog or not, your status is none of my concern. I just want to get things done as soon as possible."

Raiki feel silent, Jason's argument was reasonable and Raiki's intentions weren't. It has become evident in Raiki's nature to act like the alpha male, torment those beneath him but Jason just doesn't stop. Each time Raiki pushes him down, Jason just comes back up and fights back. Jason irritated Raiki in everything he does, he wanted to make Jason miserable but he's just... always smiling.

Raiki snorted in disgust as he stood up and left the cabin, leaving Jason alone in the room. Jason sighed, he never intended to start any bad reputations and especially not on the first day but Raiki's just asking for trouble. Each time he just tried ignoring Raiki but hanging out with Guren made it near-impossible.

"Well, at least we get to stay here for about five days." Jason said to himself as he let out another sigh. "I could use this time to reminisce."
