#1 of Assassin's Way

"Please... Don't shoot!" He shouted.

The safety clicked off.

"Please! I have a family!" He shouted again. His eyes were beginning to water, as the gun's barrel was pointed at his forehead.

"I... I-" He started to choke out.

"Stop it."

And he did. The raccoon that was so close to tears heard the first words that his assassin had spoken and was shocked. He looked past the barrel of the gun to the fox that was holding it. Was this assassin crying? Was that a tear that was forming in his eye?

"Please stop pleading for your life..." said the fox. "It's hard enough having to do this without listening to you."

"Then don't!" the raccoon said. "You can just walk away! I won't press charges or anythin-

A shot was fired from the silenced pistol.

He didn't even get a chance to scream. The bullet had found it's path through the raccoon's forehead. The back of the chair he had been sitting in was stained a crimson red and the raccoon lay limply in it. Like some grotesque piece of artwork.

The fox lowered his handgun to his side.

"Another corrupt government official's life has ended." He whispered to no one. "This man ruined the lives of so many people... Even had some executed..."

The fox began to feel himself tear up.

"He was evil beyond a doubt... So why do I feel... so..."

He brought his gunless arm to his face and wiped away his tears with a sniffle.

"Why do I feel so sad...?"

"Because even though he is an evil man, you know that there were people who still loved him, Jo." Came a voice from the right.

The fox had the owner of the voice in his sights before he was even finished speaking.

"Neil..." He said, lowering the gun... "Don't sneak up on me like that. I almost killed you."

The panther just chucked and stepped off the windowsill that he had been perched on.

"You would've missed me." He said walking over to Jo. "Your arm was shaking rather badly."

Jo just huffed and quickly looked the other way.

Neil looked the dead body over before putting his paw on Jo's shoulder. "This one shook you up pretty bad too?" He asked.

Jo turned back to him, wiping away another tear that started to form. "Yeah..." He said, "And I hate it."

"There's nothing wrong with-"

"Bullshit!" Jo said, cutting Neil off. "If any of the others see me crying over one of my targets, they'll just mark me as a weakling..."

"Well fuck them. One look at your track record would shut them up. You're one of our top assassins." Neil wrapped his arms around Jo's body and planted a kiss on his lips. "You're allowed to cry if you want too."

Jo just nuzzled into his chest.

"You know, you're not like the others." Neil said.

"How's that?"

"You still have your humanity. That's what I love about you... Don't ever loose it."

"...Thank you Neil."

They stayed like that for a few minutes until Jo pushed Neil back slightly.

"We should really get back to HQ before he starts to smell."

Neil just nodded and followed Jo though the window.

No sooner had they left the grounds then a maid had entered the room with dinner for Mr. Youngson.

Her scream could be heard for miles...

The incident was soon all over the major news stations. "The Brutal Murder of Mr. Doug Youngson" was broadcast on almost every channel.

Jo and Neil where back in the living room of the groups Headquarters, conveniently located in a rather secluded wooded area, watching one of the broadcasts with a few of the other assassins.

"Brutal!?" Neil said, "Jo got him right though the fucking brain. Not like the bastard suffered."

The rabbit chimed in. "Yeah, Jo's always been for the 'One bullet, one dead' philosophy." Henry said with a chuckle.

"Hey it saves ammo." Jo said. "Unlike Terry's strategy of unloading three 24-bullet clips into one target."

The wolf snarled. "I just like to make sure they're dead, that's all."

"Yeah, dead five times over." Said Henry laughing.

"Yer askin' for a beatin' bunny boy."

Henry was sill laughing, "Bring it flea bag."

"Will you idiots please shut up." Said the tiger near the other end of the room, "I can't hear the damned television."

"I'll kick your ass too Ben!" Terry said, glaring at the Tiger.

"Whatever, just be quiet."

After that, the room settled down and they listened to the rest of the news. A mouse entered the room before it was over. Jo was the first to notice the silent creature.

"Ah, Chris. Did you see this" He asked, motioning to the television.

The mouse nodded. "I saw it in the other room." He paused. "I'm just here to tell you that the master wants to see you about your kill today."

Jo exchanged a glance with Neil before he got up and left the room. He walked past the mouse and made a left down the hallway to a set of stairs that lead up to the master's room. He paused in front of the door. He took a deep breath in and out before he gave two light knocks on the door.

A deep commanding voice came from the other side. "Come in Jo."

He opened the door and stepped into a large, nicely decorated room. The Master sat on the other end, behind a oak wood desk. The reading lamp that was with him was the only source of light in the room besides the moonlight that flooded through the large windows.

"You wanted to see me?" Jo asked.

The master stood up and made his way to one of the windows. "I did." He said. The lion motioned for Jo to come closer. "I simply wanted to congratulate you on another successful kill."

"Oh, thank you master." Jo said with a slight bow. "Was that all you wanted?"

The larger lion turned to Jo. "Actually, my congratulation isn't over yet." And before Jo could even wonder what that meant, he was pushed to the wall.

"Master! What the hell!?"

The lion ignored him and moved his paw to the foxes crotch. "You have to be the cutest assassin that I've ever trained. You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do this." He said, licking his lips.

Jo's eyes widened. He could feel himself getting hard. The lion unbuttoned the foxes jeans and reached his paw inside. His other paw moved up this Jo's face, stroking his cheek.

"You're going to love this." the lion said in a sexy baritone. His paw left Jo's face and rubbed down his chest. The lower paw had begun to slowly grope the foxes bits.

But it all stopped there. Jo's right paw swung up, connecting to the lions face, knocking him over and into his own desk, causing the reading lamp to crash on the floor.

The lion immediately stood up. He looked even more menacing with the moonlight illuminating him.

"Jo..." He said in a snarl.

Back in the living room, Neil heard the lamp crash into the floor.

"Did anyone else hear that?" He asked.

Ben and Chris nodded.

"What? Heard what?" Asked Terry and Henry together. They had been too busy teasing each other to have heard anything.

"Something fragile got smashed upstairs." Ben said. "If you two would just leave each other the fuck alone, you would have heard it too."

"But he's just too easy to mess with." Henry said with a sly glance at Terry.

Terry had opened his mouth to say something, but Neil stood up.

"I'm gonna go check it out." He said.

"Why?" Chris asked, "It was probably Jo just being clumsy like usual. Master's probably scolding him about it right now."

Neil sighed. "I know, but I have a bad feeling."

With that, he left the room.

He made a left turn at the hallway and headed silently up the stairs. He placed his paws on the door and slowly pushed it open. Just in time to see Jo land on the ground in front of him.

"JO!" He exclaimed! "What's going on!?"

"It's... it's master." Jo huffed out, slowly pushing himself up. "He's trying to fucking rape me!"

Neil looked up. "Master, is that tru-"

He stopped. The master had drawn his Magnum and had it trained on Neil.

"Get out of here Neil." The lion said, "Don't make me shoot you."

"Master! What are you doing!"

"I brought that runt in from the streets, trained him in the art of the kill, and the damn brat has no gratitude!"

"Why? 'Cause I won't let you fuck me!?" Jo shouted. "Where the fuck d'you get and idea like-"

The gun moved to Jo.

"Quiet brat. The only reason I saved you was for a day like this." He paused. "But I could easy just kill you and find another."

"You bastard!! I oughtta-"

"SHUT IT BRAT!"

The master pulled the trigger, Jo flinched, and Neil reacted.

It all happened in a split second. The master had fired his gun at Jo. But it was only meant as a warning shot. No intention to kill. The bullet blasted the wall behind the foxes head. But Neil hadn't known. He was an expert at the quick-draw technique, and before the master's bullet had passed Jo's head, he had already fired his revolver.

His bullet found it's target right in the masters eye. There was a splurt of blood as the master fell backwards. Neil watched it all in slow motion. Shocked at his own actions.

Jo opened his eyes. Master was on the ground. Dead. Neil had shot him in a desire to protect Jo's life.

Jo stood up. "Neil... you..."

Neil ignored him. Instead, he walked over to the masters limp, lifeless body. He kept his gun trained on him anyway. Afraid that this humongous creature would roar back to life and take it's revenge.

Jo started to move towards Neil. But Neil raised a paw as if to say: "Stay away from me."

Back in the living room, everyone had stopped. They all glanced at each other. And with a synchronized nod, they all drew their weapons and rushed upstairs.

They burst into the room and immediately trained their weapons on the figure that stood above their master.

Jo spun around as they entered and froze.

Neil turned his head.

Henry lowered his weapon as he realized who the figure was. "Neil!" He said, "What the hell is going on!?"

Everyone else lowered their weapons as well. Ben stepped forward. "What happened to master?"

Neil turned his body to face them. Ben noticed his gun and quickly put Neil back in his sights.

"Neil, you didn't... Kill him?" Ben asked, afraid of the truth. "Did you?"

Neil gazed over in the direction of the masters body. Was he even aware of his surroundings? No one could tell. He slowly moved his eyes back to Ben.

"Yeah, it looks like I did."

Without a moments hesitation, Ben and the others fired. But Neil was already out the window, leaving the headquarters in his wake.

"NEIL!" Jo shouted!

The assassins where already after him. There was no way they could let the man who killed their master live. Even if that man was one of their own.

Jo watched the last of them disappear into the woods that surrounded the house. He took one, quick glance at his masters now mangled face, and took off after them without a sound.

'I have to stop them. Those idiots don't even know what happened!'

He entered the woods and stopped in his tracks.

'But if I can't get them to listen to me, will I have what it takes to..."

Jo looked up at the moon. It was full. A beautiful sight. He gulped.

'It doesn't matter. I'll worry about it when the time comes. I just have to remember, this is for Neil's sake.'

He took one last look at the moon. And shouted at the top of his lungs.

"I WON'T LET YOU DIE!"

With that, he started running. Possibly faster than he had ever run before.
