#2 of fall writing challenge

A cute little story featuring my characters Sam and Ryan. Hopefully you'll be seeing these guys more often!

Ryan had left the library of the university, having stayed back to add the finishing touches to his presentation for class next week. The weather was looking a little overcast for the day, so the Dalmatian was in a rush to reach the bus for his date with the wolf at home.

Of course, as he managed to reach the bus stop, he was slowed to a halt as he saw what was indeed the last bus of the night rolling away up the hill, the only bus that even brought him close to he and Sam's apartment.

Ryan reached into his bag, pulling out a touchscreen phone, quickly bringing up a picture of his wolf partner, one of the more photogenic pictures flashed on a night out with his mates.

After a few rings of the phone, the Dalmatian was greeted by his wolf on the other end. "Hi babe, what's up? You get to the bus alright?"

"Hey" Ryan responded, before forcing out "listen, I'd just gotten to the stop as the bus was rolling away, and I've looked on the schedule at the stop and I don't think there's another one for the rest of the night, so-"

"Of course I'll pick you up" the wolf agreed, the glee showing up in his voice. "I won't be too long. You got an umbrella? I heard its gonna rain."

"No I don't" the Dalmatian said, looking up and saying, "I figure I'll be fine."

"Alright then. See you soon" Sam finished, leaving the Dalmatian stood near the stop with an uncontrollable wagging tail. Unfortunately, soon after the Dalmatian hung up the line, the first droplets of rain began to fall. What's more, the day had started out unseasonably warm for autumn, no need for a coat. I'll be fine the Dalmatian thought to himself.

Of course, what he didn't anticipate was for the rain to start beating down on him, soaking through his denim trousers and t-shirt, fur absolutely soaked. Shortly after the land-based drowning began, the Dalmatian was greeted by Sam's car rolling over to the stop, the wolf's eyes lighting up to the sight of his rain-drenched boyfriend.

Jumping into the car at lightning speed, the Dalmatian was greeted with a towel from the wolf in the driver's seat, and a semi-sarcastic "so, you really didn't have an umbrella?"

"Shut up" the Dalmatian replied, taking his head between his hands, rapidly rubbing himself dry with the towel. "I know this isn't how you wanted to do date night. We need to get back home, I'm dying for a shower!"

"Well, if you want" the wolf said as he started the car, cheeky grin forming across his muzzle, "we could skip the date and just get you warmed up in the shower."

"Don't be such a horn dog!" the Dalmatian said warmly, play punching Sam in the arm. "Although I have to say, I definitely owe for this."

"It was my pleasure" the wolf replied, leaning over to the soaking wet canine, planting a soft kiss on his muzzle.
