#1 of Runaway

Trying something new this time! This is going to be a choose your own adventure story! Toby is a 12 year old kangaroo cub running away from home and he has an awful long way to go before he makes it back. Will you make the right choices so that Toby makes it home safely? Or will you lead the cub down a path of lust and debauchery? The choice is yours!

To cast your vote, please comment in the story with the option you choose. If you have a suggestion that's not in the choices, feel free to say that too! After a few days and I feel there have been enough votes, I'll post the next part of the story. I'm not going to involve extreme violence in this story, but remember that not all choices will have a happy ending!

This story is cross posted to both InkBunny and SoFurry, so I will be combining votes from both sites.

The whole story will be marked for extreme content, though some individual parts may or may not have sexual activity depending on how the story progresses.

So starting us off, here are the first chapter's options:

CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE:

Option A: Get in the car with Justin, he seems really friendly!

Option B: Start to have second thoughts and decide you should probably return home.

Option C: Decide Justin is a little too suspicious and you'd rather wait for the next car. Tell him you're sorry but you're waiting for someone else.

Voting has closed!

Option C wins by a very tight margin (10 votes) vs Option A (9 votes).

He couldn't take it anymore! Enough of their rules, enough of their yelling, and enough telling him to go his room! Toby shoved a pair of shorts in his backpack, an angry tear rolling down his cheek. But he had a plan, he was going to show them! Toby grabbed another shirt and a pair of undies, stuffing them in with the rest. He was going to run away, then they'd really miss him! Finally Toby grabbed his stuffed wolf, Barkly, and put him in the top of the bag with just his head sticking out so he could see.

"You ready Barkly?" he asked his stuffed wolf, then nodded to himself as if the wolf had answered. "Let's go!" Toby climbed up on his desk and opened the window, doing his best to keep it slow and quiet. When it was open enough to slip through he propped it up with a book and turned on his belly so he could slide out footpaws first. It was only a couple feet down to the roof, but he wanted to be very careful not to make a sound. His shirt slid up a little bit as he crept out and the window frame was cold on his belly. He gave a shiver and pulled away, slowly continuing. His toes hit the shingles and he dug in a bit with his claws, making sure he wouldn't slip. Being a kangaroo, Toby was a good jumper, but from all the way up here he wanted to make sure he landed away from a window so his parents wouldn't see.

He carefully crept around the edge of the roof awning to the side of the house. The drop was a bit lower here, only about 6 feet or so. When he saw it from the bottom earlier, Toby was pretty confident he could make it, but it looked a lot higher from up here. This was it though, now or never, he had to make his parents feel the way he felt. So with a careful hop and a flying leap, Toby jumped off the side of the house onto the grass below. His strong kangaroo legs caught his weight but he wasn't prepared for the extra momentum. Toby tumbled headfirst and did a double somersault, ending flat on his back.

"Ooph!" he grunted, sitting up and rubbing the back of his head. "Are you okay Barkly?" he turned to his stuffed wolf again, rubbing the back of the plushie's head too. Then he nodded and stood back up. "Good, let's go!" and with that he was off. He bounded down the side of the road with the longest strides he could manage, heading for the highway on-ramp. His plan was to stick his thumb out and hitch a ride to Hawaii, somewhere warm and far away, with lots of nice people who didn't tell you what to do. He'd seen it work in movies before when other kids were running away. He saw an ad for Hawaii on the TV too. Everyone there looked so nice, always bringing you food and cleaning your hotel room. There were even nice ladies even gave out necklaces made of flowers! There was lots to do and a really big swimming pool! Yeah, that was the place for a roo like him!

Toby bounded on and it seemed like it had been hours since he left. His footpaws were really sore from all the bouncing, but finally he made it to the highway. Leaning down and panting, he stuck out his thumb the way he'd seen on TV and waited for a car to drive by. The first two cars passed right by him without even slowing down. It took a while, but eventually a third one drove by, but this car was even less friendly! The driver honked and he thought he heard someone yelling angrily from the open window. Toby was starting to get disheartened. There weren't many cars out on the road this late, and if he didn't find a ride to Hawaii soon, his parents would probably catch him and then he wouldn't have desert for a whole year!

Toby flopped down and sat cross-legged in the dust, putting his head on his paw while he held his thumb out with the other one. Just when he was about to give up, a pair of headlights came around the corner. At first he though this car was going to drive by like all the others, but then it started slowing down and pulling to the side. The car stopped just a few yards down the road from Toby and he jumped up to his feet with a happy bounce.

The car was a slick black Cadillac with dark tinted windows and a shiny chrome bumper. The driver's side door opened and a neat looking brown rat stepped out. He was young and trim, maybe about 25 to 30 years old, and dressed in a nice black suit with a silver tie and dark sunglasses.

"Hey Mister!" Toby exclaimed, running up to the side of the car. "Can I get a ride to Hawaii?"

"Hawaii?" the rat tilted and scratched his head, then gave a chuckle. "You know Hawaii is across the ocean, right? You can't just drive there." That made Toby sad and his ears drooped down. He hadn't realized Hawaii was so far away. How was he going to get there if he couldn't hitch a ride? The rat seemed to sense his disappointment and came up behind him, patting the young kangaroo on the shoulder. "Let me guess, running away from home?" he asked. Toby nodded affirmatively and wiped a sniffle away from his nose. "Yeah I know that look. How old are you, cub?" the rat asked.

"I'm twelve and a half, but I'll be thirteen in November!" Toby answered with some enthusiasm.

"Twelve and a half ehy, yeah, that's just about right." he spoke softly to himself, then turned and addressed the young roo again, "Ya know, I ran away from home too when I was about your age."

Toby looked up at him and lifted his ears a bit. "Oh yeah? What happened?" he asked.

"I found a nice man, he took me in and brought me to a special club for other boys like me." he answered, wrapping his paw around the young roo's shoulder and pulling him closer.

"Really? What kinda club?" Toby's ears perked more. He'd always wanted to be in a club.

"It's a club for boys that run away from home, or want a different kind of life, or boys that just don't have anywhere else to go. It's a safe place where cubs like you are well taken care of. Funny thing, I was actually just on my way there now. Would you like to come?"

"Boy, would I! Can I bring Barkly?" Toby bounced in place, turning to the side so the rat could see the stuffed wolf in his backpack.

"Haha, of course you can. You and Barkly are both welcome. Come on, hop in the passenger seat. What's your name kid?"

"Toby!" he exclaimed happily, bouncing over to the other side of the car. "What's yours?"

"My name is Justin, and it's a pleasure to meet you Toby. I think we'll be very good friends." he grinned, flashing a silver tooth that glinted against the moonlight.
