Birds and Vocalizations

My short summary on birds.

Have you ever listened to a blue jay or a finch or a hawk?

Birds as a group are vocal creatures and every bird makes a different vocalization.

Some as in the case of hawks make harsh screeching sounds, some as in the case of parrots make squawking noises.

Smaller parrots like parakeets make tweets and peeps.

The largest like cassowaries make booming sounds.

Birds also have other ways of communication. Vibrant wattles, brilliantly colored plumage, and large beaks and crests are other ways birds can communicate and

show off and many birds can see in color like us and kestrels can see in ultraviolet, due to UV signals given off by urinating rodents.

Many birds like the hooded pitohui have brightly colored plumage to show that they are distasteful and poisonous.

Some birds have drab plumage which blends in with their surroundings and camouflages them from predators like cats.

If you look at birds they're far from boring. They're amazing!
