It took some doing...but we finally have him. My claws are sharpened to perfection as I cannot wait to get my hands on him....

The loud voices in his mind were louder than anything he'd ever heard, countless people mumbling as the darkness was finally lifted. He groaned while he opened his eyes to an unfamiliar area, looking around to find himself somewhere unknown. It seemed that he was taken, the worst possible scenario for someone like him since he was a top scientist. It was hard to tell what was around him since his vision wasn't the best.

Everything was a bit blurry as he wasn't wearing his glasses, looking around the floor for it until realizing something. Last thing he remembered was watching Eurasia fight but that too felt like awhile ago, "W-where....am I...ugh...wait no time for that.", he thought as he quickly he sat up and looked into his pockets. He sighed in relief that his stuff wasn't confiscated, as he pulled out his P.I.C., a blue one though even smaller than Michael's own.

With a few button presses, he created a pair of virtual glasses around his eyes, one that shined blue for a moment before settling down in the semi dark room. His vision was back for the time being but like painkillers it was temporary and he had to quickly find a way out. With a good check around the room, he was in a small bedroom type of room, with a bed, and a bathroom, even a fridge. Though he saw a door which he quickly went for, "A way out without a knob...of course...and...I hear someone..two guys outside. I'm being guarded, which means someone kidnapped me as I thought. Even if I unlock this door, I'd be captured quickly...", he thought, taking a moment to think as he had to escape quickly.

After about a minute of thinking, he knew what to do, though it was risky. There was no keypad or anything on his side, meaning that there had to be something on the other side. The small P.I.C. was put against the wall and gave a pulse, one that dimmed the lights and forced the door open. A dog guard dressed in fatigues with an AK and an Iguana guard dressed in the same fashion though holding a submachine gun looked up in confusion, then heard the door open, "Huh? Whats that...quickly, make sure he doesn't escape!", shouted the iguana, running in first as the dog covered his back.

"W-what?! How did this happen?!", shouted the iguana in surprise, seeing the dead body of their human prisoner on the floor covered in blood. He ran over and checked the body, turning it over to see the scientist in the black labcoat dead. The dog walked in and was shocked as well, though he found something wrong with the scene. He knelled down beside his comrade and gave the body a sniff, again confusing him, "This makes no sense...why can't I smell the blood?...the body has no scent either...", he asked himself, turning around to catch the scent he was expecting.

Suddenly the dog fell over, the iguana gasping and leaning over to check his friend, "Jack? Jack?! What happened?!---ugh!....", but he too suddenly was knocked unconscious as he fell over. In a flash the body vanished and the two were left in the room as the door behind them was shut. The culprit took off his labcoat and was left in a white shirt with black jeans, as he looked around the dark hallway, "Ok...from here I have to play my cards right. If i meet more dogs like that one, my illusions will be useless. Now which way...", he wondered as he looked down at this P.I.C., pressing a button to bring up a holographic keyboard that he started to use with one hand.

Quickly he typed in commands in order to not waste time, trying to pull up his location via a satellite orbiting the planet and at the same time sending an invisible pulse of sonar in order to give him a crude yet effective map. It seemed that his GPS had failed, the information being blocked from where he was, but he was lucky that he now had a map to use. He took a quick glance at it, seeing only three floors and a simple lining of hallways, doors, and elevators as well as pulses to display where others were. However this map didn't say anything about where the rooms lead to so he had to take a guess. Quickly he memorized the map and put the P.I.C. away in his back pocket, knowing that hes wasted enough time.

He had to be very cautious as he ran to the left and sidled at the corner glancing around curiously once, noting the hallways ceiling was quite high. As he thought, a guard was right around the corner and heading his way, "Yea, hes coming this way...from the sound of his steps...its a male feline roughly 200 pounds. Which means...", he muttered, stepping back a bit as the feline guard turned the corner. He whistled while walking, seeming to just be on patrol as he stopped in front of door labeled "Abu", and noticed there was no one here.

"Hey...wasn't Jack and Phil supposed to be here....well whatever, if something happens it'll be on their head. This Abu is supposed to be valuable....", he said as he spoke to himself, continuing along as he disappeared down the hall. Abu fell from the ceiling and ran to the left where the feline came in, panting as he had hoped that he'd be outside soon. Quietly he walked in the direction the feline came from before starting to run away. After a few seconds, he found himself running right into a rather three way corridor. From the map he memorized, he had no idea where they would lead, so he took a guess and started running to the right.

Nothing in this case makes sense...Could Casey really be guilty? The evidence seems to point that way. If its really true then it'll be the end for "that" family...

**Date - October 31, 2055

Location - Judicial Hall, Court Room 3

Time - 9:40 am**

Things finally were getting underway, Phrin trying to keep herself calm as she was seeing the first witness being called in. It seemed that it was someone she knew, someone that she wasn't too much of a fan of but still someone trustworthy. A hefty male who's footsteps thundered as he lumbered in, having to kneel down to enter the door made for Rose to enter. Wearing an old trench-coat, an old looking bloodhound took to the stand, though behind it given how big he was. His brown fur and long face were always the center of attention down at the station where he works thought Phrin, knowing that if anyone could shed some light on the situation, it could be him.

The judge banged her gavel four times, getting things started as they were already late, "Ok Ok, settle down. Now then, seeing how you're here Jaren, tell the court for those who aren't familiar with your work and profession your name and occupation as per regulations", she asked with a smile, having seen him a few times before in earlier cases. This detective was famous in Saint Falda for his brilliant powers of deduction, but he had a tenancy to get off topic most of the time, something that Rose had to deal with quite often.

Jaren cleared his throat as he readied himself, "Ahem!...Yes..well...my name is Jaren Von Boute, detective of the homicide department of Saint Falda. I've--Oh hell, is that you Azul Berry?", he asked as his head turned over to see Phrin sitting at her desk. He was elated to see his old student, getting a wave from her.

Phrin gave an embarrassed chuckle, not expecting to be called that name while she was a professional, "Heh..long time no see "old" friend. I can't believe you're still calling me by that nickname...I'm not a rookie anymore!", she exclaimed, pointing her finger at him while looking all proud and confident.

She had come a long way since the nervous wreck of a defense attorney he thought, chuckling whole heartily as he took off his small glasses to wipe them off, "You'll always be the little blueberry to me. Glad to see you're still in good shape....and still short of course. How have you been?"

When someone mentions her height, she'd get a bit angry but this time she decided to make an exception as she sat back in her chair, "Oh you know, doing what you taught me years ago and finding out the truth. Though im glad you're here as the detective on the case. I know you'll answer anything for me.", she said with a big thumbs up.

"OBJECTION!", yelled Direk, getting everyone's attention towards him with a hard slam with both hands on the table. He looked quite annoyed while still having a smug smirk, "Your honor who is hot yet not interested...this is a waste of my time. Please have pops over there spill his guts and head out. That ugly mug is disturbing my natural beauty and I detest losing precious time to aging.", scoffed Direk, snickering a bit from his comment.

As much as she hated the guy, he was right on some point. Rose sighed and cracked her knuckles, "Yea and i'll never be interested....", she scoffed, then turned her head to the defense, "Though yea Phrin, play catch up later. We're dealing with a sensitive situation here and we can't afford to waste time."

Phrin nodded and sat back in her chair, "Oh right, sorry. Now can you please tell the court the events that occurred last night? I'm sure we all want to hear the full details of what happened.", she exclaimed, having been waiting for this moment. Rose pressed a button on her stand, which then opened a small hole around eye level for the witness Jaren. Something quickly reminded Phrin, seeing that even though she had a good win record, she hadn't been in court for a few months due to an accident but things were getting back to her as time went on, "Right...theres the camera. It records the witness' testimony in case it has to be reviewed again and it allows for an accurate assessment of what the witness says as well. The nervousness always starts in the first time giving the testimony....", she thought, getting ready to focus on what really happened.

Testimony 1 - What happened (Part 1) : "Mr Poile had a party to celebrate his latest success. The party started at 8:00 on the dot, and continued until 11:00 pm where most of the guests had left. He was found dead at about 11:15 pm, covered in bruises. It was then said that the last person to see Mr Poile was none other than Casey about 40 minutes before, and he was arrested quickly afterwards."

It seemed that this was a classic case of murder, but it wasn't something that Casey would do, having known him for quite awhile, "This testimony....it was rather vague. Its not like Jaren to skip out on important info. Guess he must be testing me as he did before.", thought Phrin, rubbing her snout in thought before looking up at Rose.

Rose nodded and looked over to Phrin, giving her the signal that it was time, "Ok Phrinny, time to do what you do best. Cross-Examine the Witness and find any contradictions or get any information needed. Oh also, here. Bailiff, please hand both them a copy of the first non autopsy report.", she ordered, getting a nod from the officer and passing to one to Phrin, then over to Direk. Quickly Phrin was surprised at to what the report said, stating that Mr. Poile had died somewhere between 10:30 pm and 11:00 pm, a very huge gap.

"Excuse me, your honor? Why is this called a "non" autopsy report? How can one be non anyway?", asked Phrin, expecting an answer but didn't want to leave things to assuming. Direk sighed hearing her ask such an "obvious" question, "Come on, you may be a woman but you can't be that stupid. Any simple mind could figure out that from just looking at Poile's status and family."

Phrin growled and slammed her hands on the table, looking at one of the most irritating males ever, "GRRR....EXCUSE ME! I was asking the judge! NOT YOU!", she shouted, getting Direk to flinch a bit but only to have him give a calm and smug look at her while shaking his head, "Well....fine. No need to be rude."

The gavel and banged 3 times hard, having to step in to avoid letting Phrin tear him apart, "Relax kids. Anyway about your question Phrin, Poile is a very special case as most who are up in the royalty chain. You do know that his family of kimodo dragons go back thousands and beyond right? Because of this, an autopsy cannot be done immediately without proper authorization. So we got the next best thing, an estimate. Hopefully before tomorrow we'll get that autopsy done."

She wasn't aware that the Brandz family was of royalty, but that wasn't important right now. She cracked her knuckles and breathed inward, glancing at Casey who seemed to have gotten bored, "Ok...so if you didn't murder him...I'll prove it today Casey.", she whispered, looking back at Jaren to start what she trained to do.

"Lets see what you can do then Azul! I'm ready this time.", exclaimed Jaren, coughing a bit as he should've been more calm due to his old age. With the silence in the room, he started the testimony again, "Mr. Poile had a party to celebrate his latest success....", but he was cut off quickly by Phrin, "HOLD UP!", shouting it at the top of her lungs and holding her palm straight at him.

Jaren was startled by the sudden shout, holding his chest as if he was gonna have a heart attack, "W-wow! You've learned the proper...technique to stop a witness. But not so loud!"

"Sorry about that...had to make sure I could completely get your attention. But for now, what was Poile celebrating? It had to be something great in order to throw a large party", asked Phrin, rubbing her snout in thought.

"Well its simple, he had recently made a new line of liquor to his line, Bent Brandz. Apparently its a hit and its a record selling among reptiles and mammals alike.", explained Jaren, taking off his glasses for a moment to blow on them. Direk sighed and yawned, "Coooome on Phrin. If you're gonna ask something, make it something worth asking. I don't wait on women, they wait on me."

Phrin sighed back in disgust, nodding to let Jaren continue, "Ok...The party started at 8:00 on the dot, and continued until 11:00 pm where most of the guests had left...", which he then paused to see if Phrin had anything to ask. She remained quiet in thought, knowing that something like that was unimportant but should be kept in mind. Jaren continued while Direk polished the jewels on his vest and Judge Roseblack yawned idly, "...He was found dead at about 11:15 pm, covered in bruises."

Quickly the old dog stopped as Phrin had her pointer finger ready and had taken a deep breath, "HOLD UP!", however being too late as she already yelled out to stop. Rose nearly jumped out of her chair, and dropping her gavel on the stable stand where she sat. This was what she was waiting for, the information relating to how he died as the report didn't tell much, "So his dead body was covered in bruises...what does this mean exactly for us who weren't at the scene? In fact...where was the body found? The report doesn't specify...", she asked in a curious tone while clicking her claws on the table. Direk himself seemed uninterested as usual, but still paying attention to what the detective had to say.

"Right...well he was found outside...after being pushed out from his room. We also found....traces of the accused's blood on the victim. From this we much conclude that there was a scuffle between them and given the defendant's strength Poile had no chance to defend himself...", explained Jaren, followed by a grin from Direk.

Phrin didn't like where that bit was going, especially seeing that sicking male smirk. Immediately she banged the desk with her fist, "OBJECTION! Just because my client is strong, doesn't mean anything! Its just a unbased assumption!"

Direk brushed his hair and shouted right back at her, "OBJECTION! We don't need any assumptions, in fact I already said before. We have the proof we need to prove his guilt...one of them was the well known amount of "bad blood" between them. One that I may add has caused numerous problems with the two in the past!"

This was news to her, wincing at the painful blow to her defense. She looked at Casey, seeing his eyes deep in thought as he was staring right at Direk, "Well you see now? Casey here is a world renowned bodyguard and body hunter so its no suprise he'd be able to kill an old man like Poile easily. In fact, would you mind telling the court your full name defendant?...hehehe..", chuckled Direk, getting a mean glare from him. Casey just scoffed and turned away, not seeing a reason to answer his question.

The defense quickly came up as Phrin slammed on her desk again, "OBJECTION! Your honor this is highly irrelevant. We already know the defendant's name, and its Casey. We don't need to ask for any more information that could be obtained by reading the report on him.", she shouted, staring him down with her blue slitted eyes.

"ORDER! ORDER IN THE COURT!", shouted Rose, banging her gavel again to break it up as she's heard enough. She took a deep breath and thought about it for a moment, the two sides waiting to see her ruling, "Hmm...I hate to say but...Casey isn't allowed to with-hold information like a name if its not incriminating. Casey, would you please tell us your name? For me?", she asked in a kind and tone while playing with a bit of her hair in her finger.

Casey wasn't one to turn down a favor, especially to a complete hottie like the judge. His cold stare turned to a warm smile as he got up and yawned, stretching his arms and legs as Jaren's glasses fogged up from the sight of the judge whom he thought was attractive as well, "OK ok...only because you asked nicely unlike Mr Blue Wood Chipper over there. My name...is Casey Wellington. The last child of the Wellington line."

Direk smirked hearing that, knowing that such information was beneficial to his case. Phrin had known that for years, having worked with Casey before but the problem is that what was his motive upon having him say it, "Why...would he ask for that? Its not like he'd know the true story behind the Wellingtons...only us dragons know..."

The gavel was banged again, wondering as to why as well Direk even cared about his name since she knew women were the only thing going through that mind, "Now I wonder, why did you want to know anyway? I doubt you care about him Direk", asked Rose, seeing him blow a kiss at her which made her bang the gavel again, "Mwah for you my little Rosebud. But back to this open and shut case, what I merely want to show for the court of exactly how dangerous the defendant is. For years the Wellingtons have worked along side dragons since the dragon campaign, however this one is the first non human born into the family. The prosecution believes that he was free from the restrictions and limitations the humans had and will prove his guilt without a doubt!"

Rose threw her gavel at him, which he caught in his mouth and quickly chewed it to bits as it was wood. She just sighed and brought out a new one, looking over to Phrin as she looked rather displeased, "Its amazing isnt it? How he would know something like that. However I can't doubt his accusation, as the Wellingtons had a rather extensive amount of rules governing the use of their powers. Casey isnt a human so theres some doubt but...Direk, do you have proof to back up this accusation?"

"Of course...in due time. For now we'll drop the subject and have our witness here who's only use to us is to give testimony give us more testimony. Tell us more in detail about what happened that night you old fart.", Direk shouted, Jaren coughing as he was finally remembered though not liking this upstart whippersnapper's tone. Phrin wasn't liking how the case was going so far, but she had faith in Casey. Her eyes and ears focused on the upcoming testimony, ready to see what else she would need to know.

Testimony 2 - What happened (Part 2) : "The party was a big bash, as only the most elite and prestigious were invited. Casey had been invited due to a request from Poile's daughter, Julia. About 10:40 pm, Casey was called to see Mr. Brandz in his office, which he was then forced out the window at some time between 10:45 pm and 11:00 pm. The witness was then seen running away from the party at about 11:00 pm, seen by the butler who was cleaning the hall leading to Mr. Brandz office."

Finally a good testimony thought Phrin, hearing what she had hoped to hear. Though one thing she didn't like was that it was the butler who saw it, which always means trouble unfortunately. Direk laughed and gave his hair a brush with a diamond encrusted comb, "Hah, you see? Decisive witness who saw the defendant fleeing from the scene, and witnesses who claim to have heard too that he was called to see Mr Poile Brandz! I'm telling you, just be a woman and lay back to accept it. Casey is guilty!", he shouted, cracking his knuckles as he put the comb away.

"Please Direk, this is not decisive. Anyone could make up what they saw, especially someone who didn't like Casey. You said it yourself that the victim disliked my client, so that may mean that his workers were told to not treat him with respect either. Just let me do my job before I rip your balls off and make you less of a man that you already are!", yelled Phrin back at him, seeing a bead of sweat go down his head but his expression still smug.

To be continued in part 3....
