Time flows forward like the endless river it is, no force save for divine intervention shall turn it's course. So time marched on, 50 years after the wars ending Humans and now Canids were rebuilding the world from the debris. No longer forced to kill and be a slave to man, Canids had started to take on the full potential they were capable of. Humans helping them feeling almost a sense of penance for all the countless dead, which were even now still being counted, ushered the Canids into their fold.
There was still the superiority of man however, Even as a brother race Canids were the little Brother. Cloning stopped, new constructs were now much much slower in development. Canids were now in such numbers across the globe their normal breeding was more than sufficient. Canids like Man could breed, originally designed to have litters the numbers quickly destroyed the need to keep cloning them.
The worlds problems now were, feeding the multitudes of people Human and Canid along with a large population of Skupples. Genetic research led to the development of, modified Cattle. These new breeds were much the same as now, however were given the rare ability of Parthenogenesis where a single mother cow can breed without a male. This let stocks swell quickly, mixed with the ability for normal breeding as well it helped some of the problem.
SCORN was the next development a Soy/Corn Hybrid, making yields much higher. With the development of strains for most Proxis environments it helped again to feed the masses. People had become so used to genetics in daily life and the reliability they didn't blink an eye when food prices started to fall. Most were just grateful for a break, the world was getting back to normal and even better with the aid of science.
Flight technology was making breakthroughs, the first SkyDrives were developed. SkyDrives were the first true Ionic flight engines. Using technology that tapped the planet's magnetics it carried a ship aloft for much less fuel, when combined with current technology it made ships even cheaper to fly. SkyDrives would let a large vessel lessen it's weight and let the normal engines work much more efficiently.
It wasn't long after that the first Artificial Intelligence was constructed, it was developed with the aid of a Skupple named Bingo. His Nickname came from the way he announced his ideas, "BINGO!" he'd say and start on about it. Skupples were very common working in tandem with scientists, a lot of discoveries came from Skupples. They seemed to have a unique way of thinking, and their instinctive nature to help drove them to work endless nights while the human scientists slept.
The world was coming back from the war and starting to climb up, higher and higher but so did the populations. Skupple Canids and Humans, all sharing the same cramped world. The idea of Space travel had been played with for decades, the war had stopped it's progress however. The time was now, now that the war was over and a booming population of eager to help constructs and a Human population ready to expand and walk into the horizon.
With the aid of the new A.I.'s and Contructs, Space was a given, it didn't take long before the first shuttles were making farther and farther orbits around the planet. Years rolled on, the Moon was seeded with a colony. The first moon colony was coddled and almost unable to fail, the companies and governments had too much invested to allow it to. Slow to grow at first but soon like wildfire. Colonies started to dot the moon, the main problem was how to construct in space.
Using large vessels that carried self contained factories they built most of what they needed right there. SkyDrives helped immensely lowering the costs to get materials up there, once the hydroponics and domes were up it was just put it together.
Humans still had a major hurdle, there were no Faster than light ships. They were locked around Proxis sending probes out to all the known planets, years to get there and then delays getting data or corrections. Another ripple in time ahead and Humans Skupples and Canids have found livable planets in their own system. Only one choice before them, the decision is made to try for the closest, the Planet Euquine.
Probes sending back photos and scans from orbit show, large seas and life. Forests and herds of various mammalian like species roaming the lands. Some photos even caught the images of, towns or cities, all of which looked to be ancient construction methods.
The actual facts were kept secret, the Government and companies funding it held all the facts when they released knowledge to the public. "We're going to Colonize a new World!" Were the headlines that day. Many nations after the war were so far in debt they were unable to say opposite if they had a voice among the richer nations.
The second Planet they found with life-signs was Furegon, a planet much larger but farther. Euquine was going to be used as a stepping stone to Furegon, once a station or base had been established. Using Moon Bases as a staging point the construction of four large Colony vessels had begun, taking years to complete. The massive ships were self contained factories and cloning facilities to create most of what they needed on trip and once there.
The trip there would take approximately 4 months to get there with current technology. Several supply ships would be be readied and constructed for shipment once a base was established. A huge celebration broadcast worldwide was made for the final launch of the four colony ships, huge in scale and armed with the best weapons human science could imagine.
The Military demanded the ships be armed for no one knew what would be ahead or if some terrorist attack may take place. The world may have stopped it's global war but violence never leaves mankind, it's part of the beast within driving us to conquest new lands or species. When none are found we turn on ourselves, the brilliant entertainments quelled a large part with interactive games and movies distracting the large majorities.
Still terrorist factions made small attacks now and then usually no avail other then bringing down a world of hurt. Canids, or Dog Boys and Watch Dogs as they were previously known were excellent detectives. Any Terrorist agents unlucky enough to have the packs sent on them soon vanished or were brought to justice namely a swift end.
With the world watching and applauding the ships set off taking a full week to vanish from normal optics. Using the factories on board the vessels the first communications buoy was launched along the path to Euquine making communication between Proxis and the ships stronger and easier to maintain.
The flight there was uneventful to most save the engineering crews who were busy making sure all the cloning and construction facilities were ready and flawless. Messages were sent often between ships and the Home world. A series of several relays for communication and sensory scans were deployed along the ships path. Combined with the Ships A.I.s who enhanced the sensitivity they had a very good view of the planet as they arrived. Scanning the atmosphere and sampling pathogens, the medical science departments quickly found the more nasty agents.
Using genetic and medical techniques they inoculated a batch of Canids being bred for landing. Human crew would simply just wear their Environmental suits designed for hostile conditions. The plan was simple set up a base and determine the nature of any life-forms present, if intelligent seek first contact. Everyone, Human, Canid and Skupple alike were excited and busting to get down there and explore this new world. Proxis was in council on how to start the plan, everyone on board the ships was to wait at standby.
The new Canids bred on the way and now inoculated for known pathogens were of a hardy breed, originally designed for war but now a symbiotic member of society still had many features which aided them on the battlefield. A fearless nature and love for their human counterparts, most giving way instinctually to a human from genes left on long ago and perfected. The Obedience genes or factors were of prime interest to Humans. Kinship, belonging, love, the want to be a family or pack were always enhanced in Canids and Skupples, making them very compliant to human needs.
It took a full 2 days for the orders to finally be given, next rotation the vessels were to launch their drop ships full of gear and crew. Most Human crew would be staying on board the ships while the Canids and Skupples along with some remote presence droids.
Launching began a total of 16 drop ships launched and made their way through the alien atmosphere landing in a area they deemed safe and clear, near a large river and with enough clearing to land the large ships. So began the conquest of Euquine, a world unknown and alien full danger and fantastically impossible things.
