Chapter XV, Politics two

"My Prince, are you sure this is wise?"

"This will force them to act won't it?" The tiger said rather nonchalantly.

"It seems a little extreme my Prince, it could cause irreparable damage to trade!" Sababa cried as he stared at the tiger.

"Well, if the rumors of Dark deeds within the ranks of the Hatusa are true, they will soon run out of slaves, and any noble who would have a reason to kill me makes the vast majority of their capital on the backs of slave labor, so if the slave trade is temporarily banned it would force them to cut back on the hours of labor lest they break them..." Nafusir took a long sip off his bowl of wine.

"My Prince, even if you're theory is true it could take weeks for anything to happen!" Sababa said nervously

The tiger took another sip "Well most of the citizens of Thran hold no slaves, in fact any non-noble slave-holder usually treats their slaves gentler then the nobility, so they run through less. On the other hand the average slave in the hand of a noble lasts only a few years due to the backbreaking labor they are forced through..." he took another sip of wine

"So by temporarily banning slave trading they will be forced to cut back on work and hours which will hit them where it hurts won't it?"

Sababa stared at his lord, the lion tread every thing to stop him "Even so if what you suspect is true it would only hasten the assassination attempts on your life,"

The tiger pulled one of the Hookah pipes to his mouth "well I've stepped up the guards and keep two bodyguards with me at all times..." he took a long puff "Besides I'm only banning the trade, not possession of slaves... and close the window it's freezing,"

Sific angrily paced up and down his chamber, while the vast majority of the diet was unaware of what events had just transpired, he had just gotten reports from his spies in the palace of what Lord Nafusir had done.

He had dispatched his servants to various slave garrisons throughout the city to purchase as many slaves as possible.

No doubt that Kuhama was already doing the same. It seemed one could not lay with a harem girl without him aware of it.

"You wanted to see me?"

The Cheetah spun around in shock; his heart raced "DO NOT SNEAK UPON ME!"

The hyena simply grinned his usual grin "Well, you were the one who called for me, so... why do jump when I arrive?"

The cheetah was about to open his mouth to say something snide, but shut it deciding not to patronize the hyena.

"Judging by your, bad mood and how urgently you called, I assume it must be about what lord Nafusir has just enacted,"

"It will not last, surly it can't, he would be just as crushed..." the cheetah reasoned.

The hyena simply smiled "well I thought you were smarter then that..."

The cheetah was taken aback by this insult

"One the good Prince doesn't rely on slave labor for his income, taxes and the fleet of trading ships left by his father see too that, second the nobility will be put in a choke hold by the sudden loss of income making them understandably angry, in this anger he hopes to provoke a response from those who conspire against him,"

Sific could only stare

"So any action taken against him would allow him to dissolve the diet on the grounds of treason... quite clever on the Good Prince's behalf,"

The cheetah regained his tongue "we can't just wait!"

The hyena seemed uninterested "if we strike and fall, the diet is gone as is any hope you have, if we strike and kill the Good Prince we get his little brother who is twice as suspicious and vengeful, if we wait the Prince will fully regain his power,"

Sific seemed angry "You should care too this directly effects you!" pointing his finger at the hyena

This only provoked a laugh from him "Really? Because if I remember there are more then enough vagrants, castoffs and foreigners who none would notice missing..." he said without bating an eye

Sific felt cold, his insides trembled as he looked at the hyena

"I can make do, what can you do? Hmmm?" lightning flashed across the window

Earlier...

Ramhoto sat counting the princely sum of 100 royals. The fox had been sold to the same gentleman who purchased the beast from him. At this point he could care less if he feed the fox to the beast in the crate, he had a massive amount of gold in his grubby hands.

Ayden hated his new master, aside from the terrible feeling he gave, he was justified in his hate; this was a buyer of flesh, one who now dared to call the fox his property.

Marcus felt the same way, only in a more vocal way

"I'LL KILL YOU!! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU FUCKING COCK PIECE OF SHIT!!" Ayden was unaware of what his companion was saying, but he could guess it was not a compliment.

The fox marched at a forced pace, prods forced him forward, all the anger was building up in his thin body, droplets of thin rain fell upon his blazing fur...

The rain was softer on the window, Nauil drowsily lifted her head; her eyes were half shut. Sibuna's arms were wrapped tightly around her, small threads of her fur stuck out against his black fur where she had been resting.

She still felt his warm seed trickle down her thigh. The Jackals head rested on an old pillow, his face was covered in a sleeping smile. His tree trunk like arms held her firm to his chest.

The sound of lightning had woken her. After a short while she rested her head against his warm chest, still feeling the warmth in the cold night. Sibuna stirred slightly but soon returned to his peaceful sleep...

Sababa carefully sipped his tea, he had only made a small pot; Lord Nafusir could stand the stuff so he did not need much. The rain had lightened up and the tiger was becoming more responsive.

Nafusir Dabu Al-Nafadi the 7th Prince of Whiteport had inherited his position from his brother Kana Sabajo Al-Nafadi the 6th prince of Whiteport. Who in turn inherited the position from his father Bahace Dabil Al-Nafadi the 5th Prince of Whiteport who in turn inherited the position from his father Ramaj Sifat Al-Nafadi the 4th Prince of Whiteport and so on and so forth until we reach Rala Quhir Al-Nafadi the 1st Prince of Whiteport and general of the Silver Army.

Thran was a relatively new nation only 68 human years old. 68 years prior it had been a Province of the empire of Zok. Whiteport at the time was only a small port at the time and seat to the Al-Nafadi Family.

Rala Quhir Al-Nafadi was the founder and leader of the Silver Army; a large force named for the silver bands on the arms of its warriors whose purpose was to combat the growing warlord problem and serve as reserve forces to the Imperial Army of Zok. The silver army was made almost exclusively of the Thranese and held few loyalties to the tyrannical Emperor of Zok.

Finally with Rala at the head; a war of independence began and after four years of fierce fighting The Province of Thran became the Kingdome of Thran, and Rala was named the first Prince of Whiteport. And the city was made the capital of the new Kingdom...

66 years later Nafusir Dabu Al-Nafadi is coroneted the 7th Prince of Whiteport. Two weeks after his coronation the Diet is forcibly formed and the long battle of wills between Nafusir, Kuhama and Sific begins...

Sababa Grimaced, the tea was a bit sour. He knew that most would see Nafusir as power hungry and cold, but few knew his real intent was to preserve the kingdom his family created...
