So my first short at writing a story in the constricted time of just an hour, it was a really interesting experience, it takes a lot of concentration that's for sure. x.x

I think this was a pretty awesome experiment, and I will be doing some more based upon what you all suggest! =D

Reggie decided to take a break on a river bank, what he didn't know was that the river's otters were a bit bitey...

I hope you all enjoy, and I would love to hear what you all think of my first short at this type of writing! =D

P.S. What would you all think of me streaming these attempts? owo

Time started: 10:38

Reggie whistled down the road, his eyes were drooped low. The sun was hanging low in the sky, barely peeking over the edge of the nearby hills. The teenager was cheerful as he had just graduated the day before, he had been at multiple parties that day. Now all he wanted to do was go home and relax, he usually drove home but today he had forgotten to gas up so his car had run out just as he was leaving from his friend's driveway.

All of his friends had offered a drive home, but Reggie had turned them down. The idea of walking home was appealing, it was such a beautiful day. Near the road was a brook, water splashing lightly against rocks and just added to the atmosphere of the day. The teenager would glance down into the water every now and then, his eyes catching the glint of fish scales in water.

The brook was home to many little creatures, bugs, animals, and fish. Some dogs were walking the edge of the water and nipping at fish in hope that they might catch some food, a chuckle escaped Reggie as he saw a fish slap one of the dogs with its tail. "Looks like your food bites back." Reggie said with a grin, his stomach rumbled. Even after attending so many parties, Reggie had yet to actually eat much that day.

Reggie stretched, his legs were a bit sore from walking three miles already, he was starting to regret having elected to walk instead of taking one of the offers of a walk. The idea of sitting by the river came to mind, "Huh, it wouldn't hurt too much to relax for a little bit..." He muttered before turning off of the road, cars rushing by not noticing the teenager's head dipping under the edge of the hill.

Stepping to the edge of the water, Reggie grunted as he took a seat, the ground by the brook was wet and rocky. "Man, I'm such a city boy." Reggie laughed as he looked up at the amber glowing sky, it was a marvelous sight when Reggie was used to sitting under the roof of some sort of building.

Suddenly there was a chattering sound from beside Reggie, he glanced over in confusion to see an otter standing there turning its head in a confused looking pose. The human couldn't resist laughing at the adorable sight, "Confused why I'm sitting here buddy?"

The otter skittered close, his brown eyes gleaming in the dying light of the day. Reggie suddenly had the urge to pet the little creature, he cautiously moved his hand near the head of the little creature and let the otter sniff his hand. "See buddy? I'm not so bad, now am I OUCH!" Reggie cut off as he pulled his finger back hastily from the otter, sucking on the bite wound on his finger.

The little animal's face seemed to twist into a smile as it skittered away and hopped into the water, even though it appeared to of left, Reggie somehow knew that the brown furred Mustelid was drifting under the surface of the water.

"Little bugger..." Reggie hissed under his breath, the bite ached as if it were a needle pinch. "Great, I probably have rabies now!" The human felt worry take grip of his heart, "I need to get out of here..." He muttered, standing up and jogging up the slope and looking back at the river. "I swear if I get rabies..." He muttered angrily before running towards his house, now in a hurry to get home.

From the water, a small furry head poked his head out, brown eyes gleaming. It watched the human until he disappeared from sight before sinking back down, its whiskers twitching in laughter.

Reggie's dad glanced at the finger thoroughly, "Well, we'll bring you to the doctor tomorrow. But from what I can tell, there's nothing wrong with your finger son. Though that is from a vet." He grinned in humor, Reggie found his father's human quite dry.

"Thanks dad..." He muttered, standing up from the chair of the kitchen and wrapping his finger in a bandage once more before walking upstairs. The teenager looked over his finger, it still ached, in fact it hurt more now than it had earlier. "I'd better of not gotten a disease..." Reggie said, fear still wrapped around his heart.

Walking into his bedroom, Reggie hopped into his bed and bounced on the mattress before resting his head on his comfy pillow. Looking at his roof, Reggie's eyes sank low. "Well, I'm starting off my new life after school well, I get bitten by an animal like an idiot." Reggie was angry at himself, how could he of thought petting a wild animal was a good idea?

Putting his finger back in front of his face, Reggie saw that some blood had leaked into the bandage. "I'll be getting some new bandages in the morning." Reggie resolved, nursing the injured hand in his other before allowing sleep to steal him away.

As the teenager fell into sleep, his finger continued to throb, an odd glow affecting the area allowing the appendage to shine dimly in the night.

Waking up early in the morning, Reggie realized that all pain in his finger had faded. "Weird, I was sure it would still be sore at least..." He muttered before slipping the slightly blood soaked bandage off, underneath to his shock was unmarred skin. "What?!" He shouted in shock, where there should've been a cut was nothing. Just his normal skin, no mark or anything.

Taking two stairs at a time, Reggie sprinted down the stairs and rushed into the kitchen catching his dad before he was able to leave for work. "Dad! You know that bite from last night?!"

The vet chuckled, "Yes Reggie, I haven't gone senile yet. I remember your bite, what about it?" Reggie shoved his finger under his father's eyes, the man looked over the finger in interest. "Now that's odd, did you paint over the broken skin Reggie?"

The teenager sighed in annoyance, "No! I didn't paint over my skin, this is how it was when I woke up this morning." His dad looked over the skin more seriously this time, he helt the finger up to the light to make sure there was nothing wrong with it.

"Well I'm sorry son, but I can't seem to see anything wrong with your finger. Your immune system must've been working like crazy last night." Reggie's father smiled good naturedly.

Reggie looked at his finger doubtfully, "I guess..."

His father patted him on the shoulder, "Don't worry Reggie, you'll be fine. Now I have to get going, I have to see how Miss Abernacle's dog is doing. You know how she is about her dog." Reggie rolled his eyes, Miss Abernackle brought her dog in every three days with a fear that her dog had come down with some sort of deadly disease, and it was only made worse by online diagnoses.

"Okay, thanks dad. Have fun with Miss Abernackle."

His father shivered, "Not when she's breathing down my neck, have a good day son." His father was then out the door for the day. Reggie walked into the living room, flicking on TV. As he walked cartoons, Reggie felt his stomach suddenly grumble. He hadn't eaten at all since early yesterday morning, he had forgotten to eat in all of the excitement of the bite.

Pausing the show he was watching, Reggie stood up and walked into his kitchen. He pulled open the fridge, they had a jug of spoiled milk and what Reggie thought was stirfry in the back. His stomach twisted in the thought of the consumption of the food, "Well, that's nasty..." He muttered, he closed the door and then opened up his freezer. "Hot pockets... Pizza rolls... turkey pot pie... Clams..." Suddenly his own body jolted in an odd sensation, his mouth was now watering with saliva.

Almost unconsciously, Reggie pulled out the box of clams and walked over to the microwave. Ripping open the box, Reggie poured the contents of the box into the microwave and set it for three minutes. "Need to get rid of the frost..." Reggie muttered, usually the teenager would cook them until they were nice and hot but today he wanted damp cold clams. It felt as if some primal instinct was controlling him to eat them cold...

Waiting for the microwave to warm up the clams, Reggie walked right to the sink and turned on the water to cold and suddenly put his head under the stream of cold water. It felt so good... "What am I doing?!" Reggie shouted, his head pulling up and slamming against the metal of the tap. "Ouch!"

Reggie's head was completely wet with the cold water, he walked over to a towel and wiped his head off. He was utterly confused by his own actions, usually he was normal, but something was seriously wrong with him today.

The microwave beeped, Reggie's head snapped to the side to look at the microwave. He walked to the small machine and he ripped open the door, the smell of the damp clams set his stomach rumbling with need of sustenance. Reggie grabbed one and immediately started to open it with the edge of his fingernails, but they wouldn't do anything to the hard shell, it wouldn't split...

Reggie growled in annoyance, the stupid shell... suddenly a thought came to mind, he turned to the counter and carefully angled the edge of the shell over the counter and started to pound it against the surface hard. Indents appeared in the countertop, but it didn't matter to the teenager, he heard the popping sound before he saw the shell slide open in his hands. Suddenly he was on the insides of the clam, slurping the inside clean. It was delicious, even though it was practically raw and cold, it tasted like heaven to Reggie.

This went on for twenty minutes, Reggie systematically grabbing, cracking, and eating the clams. Soon the countertop was covered in the marks of the slamming of the shells, Reggie burped happily as he patted his stomach. "Delicious." He said, pleased with himself at having eaten such good food.

Unbeknownst to Reggie, small whiskers had sprouted from his cheeks, they were almost invisible against the human's skin, but they were growing out nearly threadlike. The human walked to his front door, shoes forgotten, the teenager walked out barefooted and only dressed in shorts and his short sleeved shirt.

Reggie found himself questioning what he was doing, his house door was wide open, he had left the water running on the tap, those gouges in the countertop... But he didn't really care all that much, he wanted to be near the brook.

People in cars slowed to see the new graduate walking down the hot road barefooted, his eyes were set upon the brook beside him. He needed to find that spot from yesterday though... Reggie's shorts were really ill fitting for some reason, not that it mattered, all that mattered was finding the spot.

"Hey Reggie!" Reggie's head flicked to the side, one of his friends had stopped his truck beside him. "What are you doing man? Where are your shoes?"

For some reason, Reggie couldn't quite recollect his friend's name. It didn't matter though, the human didn't know his duty. Human? Reggie's eyebrows drew together in confusion, why had that word come to mind? He shrugged though, he didn't really care, nothing mattered in the big scheme of things. Instead of answering, Reggie just walked down the rocky path again.

"Reggie! Hey Reggie! Stop right there, something's wrong with you! Why is there brown stuff on your arms?!" Reggie didn't stop though, though the remark about brown stuff on his arms did catch his attention. His eyes drifted downward, upon his arms there was indeed brown stuff. But in fact, it was brown fur. Reggie giggled, something about the realization was funny.

Turning his hands over, Reggie saw that black pads had appeared on his hands, his hands changing from their normal human fists into what appeared to be animal paws. "Perfect for swimming." Reggie said, not really knowing why he had said it.

Happy thoughts were swarming Reggie's head, he couldn't describe it, human life seemed so stressful. Now he could only think happy thoughts, and it was great. Finally he arrived at the area that he had been yesterday, as if awaiting him, the otter from yesterday was sitting on a rock in the river looking right at Reggie.

Meeting eyes with the otter, Reggie's eyes flashed from their light blue to a dark brown reminiscent of the otter's own. Reggie found himself slipping his shirt off, underneath was a layer of fur that hadn't been there the day prior. Time was slowing down for Reggie, his eyes didn't leave the otter's own.

Next his shorts slid off, just in time as well due to the new tail extending behind Reggie, the human's body was shrinking. He could tell it was happening, the size difference of him and his brother otter was disappearing. His brother otter? Reggie dwelled on it for just a moment, but then the happy feeling flooded him once more.

His human features faded as a muzzle pushed out of Reggie's face, a black leathery nose appearing on the edge of the new muzzle. It sniffed for the first time in its new animal form and found the smells of fish wafting from the river, Reggie's human life was fading fast, it was all superfluous to the new forming otter.

Soon all of the new otter's body was covered in fur, sharp claws poked out of the otter's new paws. They scratched at the dirt as Reggie shrank to the size of his brother, Reggie's name disappeared. He was just an otter, like his big brother! The other otter sitting on the rock chirped at him, "Brother! Come on, we have to play!"

Otter grinned at his older sibling, "Yeah brother!" He scampered to the water's edge and dived in along with his brother, human clothes left on the bank. A few minutes later the friend found Reggie's clothing on the bank, horror dawned as he thought that Reggie might be drowning in the brook. He ran to the water's edge and looked in.

"Reggie! Come on, get out of there! Right now!" He stepped in the river, stepping in deep to look for his friend, "OUCH!" He screamed, he jumped out of the water, his hands clutched on a small bite, "Stupid otters! Can't you see I'm looking for my friend?!"

Reggie's friend felt tears form in his eyes, "I'm... I'm gonna have to go tell Reggie's dad..." He muttered miserably, as he walked away, the pain throbbed in his leg like poison. He felt his stomach rumble loudly, "Maybe I can grab some seafood on the way there..." He didn't know why seafood came to mind, but the two otters looking from the water's surface knew why, soon they would have another brother to play with, but until then... The pair giggled in laughter as they jumped back in playfully tussling in anticipation of their third twin.
