The Jade Emperor
#2 of Poems
This is a poem about a dragon character of mine. In my story he is the Emperor and supreme leader of the Chinese Empire but don't you dare make the mistake of thinking that he is just a political figurehead. No this dragon takes his responsibilities very seriously.
The Jade Emperor
Master of all the martial arts
and ruler of heaven and earth.
Supreme warrior and guardian
providing shelter for the weak.
Wisest of all the dragons.
Nothing stirs fear in his breast
or turns aside his iron will.
Who dares to tread on his domain?
Who dares attack those sheltered
under his mighty wings?
Fear you should the dragon's flame
and the mighty fires of his anger.
The mighty dragon is not a figurehead
or a chess piece to be moved around at will.
Come say it to his face why don't you?
Speak those whispered words aloud.
See how well your proud arrogance gets you.
When faced with a dragon's eyes.
The Jade Emperor fears one.
No creature that has ever lived.
The lives of a nation he carries
upon his shoulders.
Come and touch them if you dare.
