First experiment at trying to write in first person. I'm not sure what ya guys think, but let me know. If this turns out well, I'll write more like this.

I actually wrote this on my iPod, on the bus ride home. Yeah, I was bored. x3

Feedback is appreciated. <3

Story is by me.

Pat-splash, pat-splash     A frenzied pattern was produced by the rubber soles of my converse, as they made contact with puddles that filled the surface of the half-flooded concrete.     I was sprinting; running as fast as I possibly could. I felt my lungs burn and my legs ache. I certainly wasn't prepared to run, not with my books clasped against the purple fabric of my shirt.     "Hey, come back! I only wanna talk, little guy!" Came a harsh voice. I could hear the grin in it. I ignored it and squeezed my eyes shut, choosing instead to dart away and lose myself in the building.     I had hoped that maybe this school would've been more.. Liberal. I know micros aren't kindly looked upon, but were we really downright persecuted?     I yanked open the heavy door of the science building, and stumbled inside. The wet soles of my shoes made contact with the freshly waxed floor, produced a loud squeak, and I slipped. My feet slipped out from under me, and for a brief moment, I could see them, at my eye level.     A muffled thump resonated throughout the empty hallway, as the back of my head made contact with the hard floor. I was vaguely aware of my surroundings now. Why had I been running..? Was I late to class?     I didn't have much time to ponder; the door squeaked loudly, and to my horror, there stood the same creature I had apparently been fleeing from. He was about six feet tall; colossal when compared to my own stature, which was somewhere around five foot five.    The orange-ringed canine cracked an evil grin, as he stared down at me.     "Looks like I caught myself a micro.. And a bat, no less! I've eaten plenty of micros, but I've never tried bat before.." He purred out. My heart skipped a beat. Was he planning on eating me? I began to slowly scoot backwards, pushing at the floor with my claws. I was too dizzy and disoriented to try standing.     "Oh no, no. You're not going anywhere, ya little fuck. Y'know, you've got to be the stupidest micro I've met.. Enrolling in a school down south? You're just -asking- for trouble."     I swallowed audibly, making a move to stand up. I was met with a swift kick to the face. My head spun once again, and a weak cry left my lips.     "Lemme show ya how we welcome micros to Pinecrest.." He practically purred out that last part, stooping down and grabbing a handful of my silky white and purple

hair. He forced me up to my feet, and roughly shoved me towards the door. It seemed he didn't care that it was storming outside. That, or torturing a micro took priority.     "That's it, keep walking.." He whispered, following closely behind me. I could feel his hot breath washing over my neck, every time he spoke to me. I shivered and took a shaky breath, beginning to walk towards the dorms, with the creature close behind me.     ...     It took about ten minute for us to reach the dorms. I wasn't -too- soaked, since we ended up walking under the creature's umbrella.    I opened the door and he shoved me into the building. I nearly crashed into a passing feline, who simply gave me an odd look. Before I could plead for help, my captor spoke.    "Don't worry, it's just a micro." He explained to the cat, who nodded and grinned.     "What an idiot.. Nearly every micro that's registered here ends up going missing. Hell, most go missing in the first month or two. Whatever. Have fun, Arky." Chuckled out the feline, before waving at the canine creature.     Why didn't I just listen to my parents? I could've gone to another state, and I would've been safe there. Heck, most northern states have some decent micro laws. There's even a micro college up there.. But no. I stayed, like the hard-headed bat that I was.     I felt another harsh shove, and I flattened my ears back. Where was I supposed to go? There were two hallways, and I--     "Left hall, room oh-six-two." Came the increasingly familiar voice. I sighed shakily and shuffled to my left, scanning the doors for the aforementioned number, slowly making my way towards the end of the hallway.     When I was halfway through the hallway, I heard him speak again. "Hey fag, ya missed it. Turn back." I felt the canine tug me back, stretching out the collar of my shirt. I swallowed and blinked back tears of frustration, as I turned. Surely enough, I had missed his room. I'm not sure how, but I did.     I was nudged to the side, as my black furred captor began unlocking his dorm door. He ushered me into the small and dark room, which smelled a bit musty. Old clothes, mixed with the scent of fresh textbooks. Typical of a college student.     "Take a seat. Would you like anything to drink?"     I blinked. His question had caught me off guard. "W.. Wha..?" I squeaked out, tilting my head to the left. My abductor simply rolled his eyes and made his way into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and poured water into two tall glasses. I assumed that one was mine, and the other was his.     "Surprised?" He inquired, his back turned to me. I shifted uncomfortably, and glanced back at the door. It was locked from the inside. "I have manners, silly. I'm going to kill you, but that doesn't mean we can't be civilized, and at least have a good chat before that." He spoke, as he turned to face me. Now, I was finally able to get a good look at him.     He looked nothing like the wolf I assumed he was. Heck, he didn't even -look- like a wolf. His fur was charcoal gray, except, there was a glowing orange ring situated in the middle of his forehead. I assumed there were other rings as

well, since faint circular outlines glowed out from beneath his shirt sleeves, and to either side of his denim-clad thighs.     "Bet it's not everyday that ya see an Umbreon, right?" He murmured, casually making his way to the leather couch, which was located in the middle of the small room.     What was an Umbreon? Was it a species? I assumed it was, and a rare one at that. The Umbreon grinned and patted the seat next to him. I huffed shakily, and obediently followed his non verbal command. I knew that the only way I could leave alive would be to listen to his commands.     I sat on the opposite edge of the couch, sitting with my legs tightly pressed against one another. I stared down at my lap, refusing to meet the Umbreon's gaze, which I felt was on me.     "I almost feel bad for ya. You're new, aren't you? I didn't see you at orientation night."     "N-no.. I was gonna get my schedule today." I replied, now staring away from him, towards the door. I felt him shift, and felt weight settling on my lap. "Relax.." He warned, pressing down threateningly. I reluctantly complied, easing back into the couch, sinking into the soft cushion, with the added weight. I resumed staring off in the direction of the door.     "What courses were you planning on taking?" Came his voice. I shifted a bit; his feet were cutting off circulation to my legs.     "I.. Guess I was going to go into accounting. I'm not really great at math, but I suppose I'm good at

repetition. That's what it boils down to, it seems.." I sighed. There really wasn't a point in all this idle chatter. He was going to kill me, I knew that. What was the point of learning about my life?     "Huh. I'm going for a business degree, myself. Gonna take over my dad's company."     "Neat."     ...     Night was fast approaching; the setting sun illuminated the room, and cast an orange glow into the small dorm.     We had conversed, and he had asked me about pretty much everything. Hobbies, family, friends, hometown, sports (Of which I knew nothing, by the way). Honestly? I was so confused. The cruel and evil creature was no longer present. In it's place, there was a rather agreeable Umbreon; polite, funny, smart, and though I loathe to admit it, good looking. Very good looking. His charm had effectively washed away my concern, and I almost felt as if we were just two friends hanging out. The events from this morning were all but forgotten.      By the end of the afternoon, we were conversing freely, and even laughing together, as if we had known each other for all of our lives. I had his bare feet in my lap, and I was rubbing and kneading my fingers into his sole, just as he had requested.     I shouldn't have been surprised, when he stretched his leg out, rubbed at my face with his foot, and spoke. "Mm.. Well, it was certainly nice to chat with you. It's gettin' late though, and I've still got class tomorrow. I think it's time to get rid of you now." He spoke in a nonchalant tone, and grinned cheerfully.     I stared at him in disbelief, not quite understanding what he meant by that. "What..? But I thought-"     Arky interrupted me, rubbing his foot over my muzzle and lips, effectively silencing me. "I told you before, didn't I? I'm a nice guy, but don't get confused. You're still a micro, and you know how I feel about your kind."     I felt my throat tighten, and anguish gnawed at me. Tears welled up in my eyes, as the pain of realization washed over me. Regret soon followed afterwards. Regret for staying in this city, regret for enrolling in this college, and regret for enjoying the time I had shared with Arky. I felt numb, and nothing seemed to matter anymore; I was a micro, why should anything matter anyways? Despite working my ass off to get into this college, it was all for naught. Why? Because I was born a micro.     "Take your cloaker off, alright? I'll make this quick." Arky flashed what was probably meant to be a reassuring smile, and I simply stared back blankly, before turning my attention down to my

hand. I slowly gripped my ring finger, and began to slide off the thin silver band. As I did so, the Umbreon stroked his foot over my cheek, wiping a tear away.     The ring was almost off of my finger now. I briefly looked up at my new 'friend', who simply nodded. With a reluctant sigh, I slipped the ring completely off of my finger. The world warped around me, almost cartoon-ishly. When the wobbling finally ceased, I was at my natural height of three inches. On either side of me, there was an immense and dark-furred footpaw     Ark reached out and gently grabbed me by the waist, moving me from the cushion of the seat, down to the wooden floor. "Really, it's nothing personal. I think you're a really nice guy, and I bet you would've done really well here. Sorry, if it makes a difference."    I closed my eyes and clenched my fists by my sides. I knew that running wouldn't get me anywhere, and would only serve in me getting smeared across the floor while attempting escape. Why humiliate myself with failure? I might as well man up and take it.     Through my closed eyes, I felt when the umbreon's foot cast a shadow over me. I knew he was raising his foot up, and in a moment, it would all be over.     A whoosh of air, and pain exploded throughout my little body. The Umbreon was true

to his word, though. The pain didn't even last a second.Nothing personal, right?
