I wouldn't say that Alex's life is "interrupted" as the title says, just changed.

The days rolled by. Alex helped the family that had taken him in. During this period of time, he had also grown much closer to them. They had two children: a 9-year old boy, named Ben, and a 7-year old girl, named Lisa. They were nice kids, good-natured, and brought up well.

Soon after his arrival, Alex learned that he was in the mountain town of Evergreen, Colorado. It was a pleasant little town. The town surrounded a large lake that, on one side, held many small businesses and corporations ,and on the other, lay a small multitude of houses. Alex had become good friends with the neighbors and had adjusted to the town. He was beginning to wonder what he was going to do when school started. Would he register and go in to the local high school along with everyone else, or would he stay at his temporary home, with John and Mary?

That night, over dinner, the Browning family discussed the problem that Alex had been thinking about.

"So Alex, what are you thinking about doing for the school-year?" Said John.

Alex shuffled a bit.

" I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. While it would seem awkward to not go, how will I register for the county. I've got absolutely no I.D. and I'm pretty sure that they would want a solid background check on me before they let me attend school."

Mary smiled and looked over to him. "Oh I'm positive that they would let you in. I mean, who could refuse a little doll like you" Both Mary and Alex snickered jokingly afterward.

Later that night, Alex was in the bathroom, brushing his teeth. A glint of light coming from the window caught his eye. He strolled over and looked out . He saw nothing different than normal, but he wondered what had sparked his interest. Looking around, he found that there was a full moon, although it was partially covered by clouds. He concluded that some of the light from the moon had reflected off of his window-side mirror. Satisfied that he had solved his little mystery, Alex turned back towards the sink and continued to brush his teeth. His window-side mirror had been nailed permanently into the wall a long time before his arrival at the Browning house. It was an old family heirloom and although Alex wasn't a big fan of hanging mirrors everywhere, but he didn't mind this one. It had a very delicate border of engraved wood that fascinated Alex. He enjoyed staring into its complex frame and studying it.

As he finished brushing his teeth, and on his way back to his bed, Alex looked out of the window again. The clouds had moved a little farther back, uncovering the moon. He felt a breeze blow through his hair and shivered at its cool touch. He saw lights in the bordering houses slowly flick off as his neighbors turned in for the night. He stayed there for a while, before deciding that it was too late to stay up. Alex got up, shut the window, turned around and got into his bed.

Alex awoke to the sound of leaves rustling. He opened his eyes and looked around his room. Everything was the same. Alex got out of his bed. His room was dark, but somehow he could still see everything. His hearing was much more attentive as well. He could hear the soft inhaling and exhaling of the two small children in the adjacent room, the sound of John shuffling in his bed and Mary brushing her teeth.

Intrigued by his new senses, Alex explored his room. He didn't worry that this would affect his life, as he believed that it was all a dream.

Alex looked out of his window. He could see his garden in perfect clarity. But there was a blinding light that descended from the sky. Looking up, Alex winced as he laid his eyes upon the moon. To his extremely sensitive eyes, the moon's glare was so bright that it almost caused him pain.

It was then when Alex was hit with a sudden wave of tiredness. He turned back to his bed and crawled in.
