An Adventure Together

By: Trek

Prologue;

"Do you, Alex Hanson, take Crystal Blackman, to be your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, for as long as you both shall live?" The minister asked, his attention directed toward Alex.

Alex looked into the eyes of his soon to be wife. He was looking at a beautiful feline with a spotless golden coat and looked stunning in her modest, yet lovely wedding gown with her vale still over her head. Her soft, hazel eyes starring back at him. She had a well trimmed body and stood about 5'-8" tall. Small plastic gems were sparkling in the light shining down on her from the stage lights. They reminded him of her magnificent name, Crystal.

"I do," came Alex's response, not looking away from his bride.

"And do you, Crystal Blackman, take Alex Hanson, to be your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, for as long as you both shall live?" The minister asked, now looking at Crystal.

Crystal looked into Alex's loving, jade-green eyes, taking in every detail to remember forever. Alex was a tall ice dragon with dark blue scales on most of his body with ice blue scales on his underbelly and ice blue wing skins to match. He had two white horns that came out of the back of his skull at a slight upward angle that almost had a pearl luster to them. Standing 6' tall and with his large wings folded neatly behind him, he looked incredibly hansom in his well-tailored tuxedo. She knew that she wanted nothing more than to be with him forever and always.

"I do," came her response. Excitement and anticipation began welling up inside of her as she waited for the best part.

"Then by the power vested in my, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride," the minister proclaimed.

Alex reached forward and slowly lifted the white vale from Crystal's face, bathing in the love radiating from her beautiful eyes. Alex leaned toward her and kissed Crystal, sealing their vows for all eternity.

When they parted, the minister addressed the silent audience. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Hanson!"

The congregation all stood up at once and the entire room erupted with applause and cheering. The newly-wed looked out over the cheering congregation of family and friends, all with big smiles on their faces. Alex and Crystal looked back at each other and saw the love and happiness' in their mate's eyes. They had never felt so happy in their lives. They could only wonder at what challenges life would bring their way. But no matter what that challenge may be they would face it together.

Chapter 1:

Arrival

The old station wagon slowed to a stop on the side of rout 213, a quiet state rout that acted as the main road for the nearby town of Franklin, Kentucky.

"Here we are!" said Alex, putting the car into park. "You can open your eyes now".

Crystal slowly allowed her paws to fall away from her eyes, which Ales had her cover about a mile back to surprise her. She gasped, her eyes resting upon a modest, white sided ranch sitting on a few acres of flat land, all surrounded by a golden field of wheat.

"It was the best that I could do," said Alex. "This is a decent town with a local hospital for you and I hear they are in need of a mechanic. The house needs a little work, but..."

Alex was cut off by Crystal jumping out of the car yelling, "It's perfect!"

Alex smiled and shut off the engine and climbed out of the old station wagon to follow his mate. He stood back and watched as his mate ran around the house, looking at every last detail. Crystal started peering into the windows, covering the sides of her face with her paws to block the glare from the sun. She was running around with the joy of a child at Christmas.

After she was through inspecting the outside of the house, Crystal ran back up to Alex who was still standing near the car. "Can we go inside?!" she asked with excitement in her voice.

Alex chuckled to himself and dug into one of his pockets. Pulling out a set of silver keys, he said to her, "That is what these are for," giving them a little shake in front of her, teasing her a little.

Crystal followed closely behind Alex as he made his way to the front door and unlocked the latch and deadbolt. Crystal nearly jumped through the door when Alex opened it, only to be stopped just short by his large arm. Alex looked into her eyes and said, "Now aren't we forgetting something?"

Crystal gave him a look of confusion, but her expression quickly turned to surprise as Alex bent down and put an arm behind her back and the other behind her knees. He swept her up and off her feet. Crystal gave a quiet yelp of surprise and Alex returned his gaze to her eyes and said, "We can't forget tradition now, can we?"

With that Alex carried Crystal over the threshold and into their new home. He took special care not to bump her head on the door frame; he knew that would not turn out well. Crystal wrapped her arms around Alex, embracing him in a big hug. *There first house together* she thought. *A place to call their own. A home*

Alex set her down and led her through the house, giving her the grand tour. They started with the living room, which was just inside the entrance. It was a small room, yet effective and certainly large enough for them. He then led her into the dining room witch had a modest yet elegant chandelier hanging in the middle and a bay window on the back wall. The window gave a great view of the back yard. From there, Alex led her to the kitchen.

Crystal was a wonderful cook and had always said that she wanted a house with a big kitchen some day. One large enough to prepare huge meals for parties with lots of guests. Crystal's eyes went wide when she saw the large kitchen. She ran through opening every cabinet and looking into every appliance. "It's perfect!" she said for the second time that day.

Alex took her by the hand and pulled gently saying "come on, there is still more to see."

Finally Alex led Crystal to the bedrooms. There was one large bedroom facing the front and side of the house with two closets, obviously being the master bedroom. Then there were two smaller bedrooms on the back wall of the house, each with a single closet. Crystal looked up at Alex and smiled. "Thinking ahead a little now are we?" she said with a playful grin.

Alex's dark blue facial scales turned a slight purple as he blushed a little. She was always so good at knowing what he was thinking. He brought Crystal into a tight hug and asked, "Do you think it will do?"

Crystal smiled brightly at him and gave him a loving kiss. She then whispered into his ear, saying for the third time that day, "It's perfect."
