#4 of Around The World

This story is not intended to be read by anyone under the age of 18, leave if otherwise.

-Just east of Cairo-

Sam left the unconscious, drunk woman sleeping in the bed of his hotel room. He hadn't slept with her, but he had an image to maintain with his companions. Sam had come on this trip for two reasons, one, his "official" reason, was that he wanted to sample the pleasures of the whole world, all manner of wine, woman, and song (though not necessarily in that order). His second, and real reason for coming, was a lot deeper than anybody, except possibly Luke, could guess.

Sam's childhood had been wonderful, doting parents, great friends, all he'd ever wanted, that trend continued through middle and high school. Then, in collage, Sam had met Luke, before then, he'd never seen someone be harassed or beaten or hurt as anything other than an accident (a miracle in Luke's opinion at the time, and Sam's currently, considering he'd been through public school). Luke was a progressive and most of the athletes in the locker room at this particular collage were heavy conservatives, a few comments later, and Luke was getting the shit beaten out of him.

Sam had rushed to Luke's defense, and, as a result, lost some standing with the crowd, but gained so much more. Luke showed him the negative side of the world, the injustice, the disease, the tragedy, walking him through history classes, having him watch the news, and telling him to seek out new information.

For Sam, it was an awakening not unlike that of Siddhartha. He now saw that the world was bigger than the next game or the next job or the next meaningless blip that was an everyday event in an unfathomably large existence. Sam had graduated with a throw away major and a meaningless minor, realizing that in his whole life, he'd never made a plan, never decided what to do, and that was what he was here for.

"All men want most dearly, that which they do not have." Luke had once told him, and he was right, for what Sam craved more than anything in the entire cosmos, more than his beloved parents, more than all the attention of friends and fans, more than wine, woman, or song, was the one thing that he did not posses. Purpose. A true purpose in this world...

"NO MORE THAN 20!"

"NO LESS THAN 50!"

"25!"

"45!"

"30!"

"DEAL!" The salesman slapped his hand into Luke's own, making a rough and crude handshake. Luke gave up the money and got their keys to the rust-bucket station wagon that they'd just bought. It was probably headed for the junkyard soon, but it was dirt cheep, could move, and had air-conditioning, which was more than you could say about most vehicles in this shady part of the marketplace.

The group's plan was to follow the Nile south to Aswãn, where they would catch a plane to their next stop, along the way, they would visit all major and minor tourist attractions that Egypt had to offer. Luke was beginning to calm down. After the incident on the ship, the memory lapses were becoming less and less frequent. But then, he didn't realize that they hadn't passed into the oldest parts of this ancient land...

Sam sighed as he once again slipped into the back of the cramped, rickety station wagon with Oliver and Dave, leaving Vincent at the wheel and Luke riding shotgun (navigating). Things had not gone according to plan. About ten minutes out, Luke seemed to suddenly change his mind about what was the correct road to follow and they had veered away from the Nile until it had vanished beyond the horizon. Despite Luke's reassurances, Sam soon knew that they were hopelessly lost, and only seemed to be getting deeper into the desert.

Vincent had spotted this small village and they had stopped for directions, and a new tank of gas. Now, hopefully, we can get back to civilization... Sam thought. Little did he know that Luke had other plans...

-o-

Blast it all, I'm so close!

Luke practically screamed inside his head as he glared out the window with green eyes behind his sun-glasses at the invisible source of the enormous spike of energy coming out of the otherwise lifeless desert. Think man, think! Okay, we're heading back toward the main road, but we'll have to make a large turn just before then, that'll get me close enough that I might be able to tap that energy, but I can't do it when the car's moving...

Suddenly, an idea popped into Luke's head, and he stealthily pulled out his pocket knife, beginning to cut a small hole in the plywood replacement for the original floor of the car. Eventually, the hole got big enough that he could slip his hand through. Leaning against the door, Luke feigned sleep as he watched the road behind his glasses, slipping his hand through the hole, knife ready. After about ten minutes, they came to the turn. _Have to time this exactly..._he thought as the car made a right onto the long curve toward the main road. Luke tossed the knife ahead of the vehicle, having it land point side up in the car's path. A split-second later, before the knife had a change to topple from its perfect position, it slashed huge gashes in the both the car's front and back-right tires.

Vincent quickly lost control of the vehicle. As he swerved off the road, Luke pretended to be jostled awake by the sudden commotion of the two tires blowing out, the bumpy nature of the off-road course the car was now taking, and the shocked and panicked cries of everyone else in the car as it lurched, shuddered, swerved back and forth for about twenty yards, and then, finally, came to a halt. It took all Luke's willpower to suppress a victorious smirk, Perfect...

-o-

"You're kidding. A double blow-out? How the hell does that happen in the middle of the desert?!" Sam said, exasperated, to Vincent.

"I don't know, but it figures this would happen with this piece of shit." He responded, banging on the hood of the station wagon, "REAL GOOD BUY LUKE!!!"

"Heh! Your the one that wanted a cheap car that we could just leave when we got to Aswãn..."

"Yeah, but I didn't want it so cheap that it would break down on us like this! How much did you pay for this thing anyway? Fourteen dollars?!"

"Well I..."

"Try thirty-five." Dave put in.

"I don't fucking believe this!"

"Calm down, it could be worse." Sam commented.

"Worse? HOW COULD IT BE WORSE?!!! We are stuck in the middle of the desert, miles from civilization, with no cell-phone reception, two shredded tires, and only one spare! There is no way it could be worse!"

"We could be dead..." Oliver said, Vincent glared at him.

"Look," Luke began calmly, "We've got plenty of water for three days, a car with air-conditioning, and a full tank of gas, not to mention that the village where we bought said gas is less than ten miles away and has an auto-outlet where we can get new (or at least practically new) tires. I'll just walk there, buy a couple, then come back."

"By yourself, in the desert, with no-one else to help carry the merchandise?" Sam asked, "Yea-no. I'm going with you." He thought he saw Luke stiffen for a second.

"A-alright, let's get going then."

"And what are we supposed to do?" Vincent asked indignantly.

"Wait here."

"Right, like we have a choice." He muttered under his breath as both Sam and Luke began walking away into the desert...

-o-

Luke glanced over his shoulder, he wished that he could do this without Sam here. Ever since he'd noticed the change in Oliver's aura and realized that the siren was probably responsible, he'd resolved to be more careful about awakening unknown entities with other people around, especially his friends. But, like it or not, I have to do this just the same, he thought, reaching out with his mind as he got ever closer to the source of the energy before finally touching it and giving it a gentle nudge, Awaken...

Mmmmm...time already huh? Feels like it's only been a moment or two...

Luke sighed in relief, but hid it from Sam, who was still walking behind him, he could feel that this creature wouldn't harm either of them. Yep, tired I suppose. That's how all the others have been.

Makes sense. How long?

'Bout five-thousand years for most of the old gods I've encountered (though I've only seen about nine). I'm thinking more along the lines of three-thousand for you. No-offense, but you don't feel as powerful as the rest of them, so you probably lasted longer without energy.

It's true, I'm not that strong compared to most of the others. But...three-thousand years? That's a long time, even for a goddess. No-wonder I'm so tired, I haven't been fed in so long... Luke's eyes widened behind his sun-glasses, Oh don't worry your pretty little head seeker, the spirit reassured, I won't hurt you or your little human friend back there...but...

But?

I don't suppose that you could have him help me out a little. I'd return the favor to him.

That depends...what do you need?

Weeeeeell...

-o-

Sam was looking strait down at the ground to avoid having the sun blind him as he walked behind Luke. "How much farther do you think man?"

"I don't think you'll be getting there any time soon."

"What do you m..." Sam bumped into Luke and stumbled back, apparently Luke had stopped, Sam finally looked up and was shocked to find that he could no longer see the road in any direction, much less either the car or the village, "Dude! Where's the road?!"

Luke pointed to a ridiculously small strip of asphalt near the horizon, "Relax, it's closer than it looks."

"What happened to the plan of following the road so that we could get to the village?!"

"We're not going to the village anymore Sam...at least, you aren't going there." Luke flipped off his sunglasses, revealing the green eyes beneath. The next thing Sam knew, he was falling, and then landing with a thud on the limestone floor.

With a groan, Sam pushed himself to his feat. He wasn't hurt except for a few bruises, but the impact had knocked the breath out of him. "What the hell?" He glanced around, the walls were covered in hundreds of intricate and colorful hieroglyphics. Staring up at the shaft he had just fallen down, the opening looked ridiculously small, "How did I survive that?!"

"Well, there's no sense in killing such a fine young man without reason. Is there?" Sam whirled around, scanning the darkness for the source of the voice.

"Who said that? Show yourself!"

"Oh I'm dreadfully sorry," the voice said in a mocking, though kind, tone from just beyond the shadows, "I'd forgotten that you can't see in the dark..." Suddenly, torches set in alcoves along the walls blazed into existence, lighting a long hallway that stretched out before Sam, "Step inside little human, I won't bite..."

Sam hesitated, but after a quick look at the sheer-cliff sides of the shaft, he surmised that there was no other way to proceed and started down the tunnel. It was a tad unnerving walking through the catacombs. The place was obviously a tomb, but that wasn't what was creepy. The hieroglyphs on the walls looked like they'd been finished yesterday (the carving was unworn and the paint just barely dry). Along with the painted walls, the floors and ceiling were unmarred, and there was not a cobweb or spec of dust in sight. Add to it that he'd found un-lit torches in pots at every corner, still damp with oil, and it was if the tomb was no different from the day it was first sealed.

"I like to keep my home clean." the voice chimed with a soft giggle. It had a taint to it however, Sam noticed, that laughter, it wasn't malice, nor cruelty, but definitely something other than simple amusement, and then, as he rounded the final corner and gasped at the sight before him, the nature of the taint struck him. Anticipation.

All the floor, walls, and ceiling of the 15'x15'x15' chamber were inlaid with bronze. Jewelry, statues, coin, gold, and silver littered the floor in the corners and along the room's edges, heaped up in piles as well as laying scattered as individuals. In the center of the room, on a raised dias, lay a solid black, granite sarcophagus covered in more hieroglyphs leafed in gold. Sam slowly crept towards dias, each step taking an eternity till he finally stood beside the enormous coffin, running a hand over its edge in amazement, "My god..."

"'Goddess' actually, but, close enough," Sam stiffened at the hot breath of speech on the back of his neck before turning to see the creature before him. She...or it... was taller than him, at least eight foot six (thus having to lean down to look him right in the eye as he turned), had a feline head and tail, with a black furred body. She was adorned in a white linen dress, a gold circlet on her head, and countless gold, silver, and jewel encrusted necklaces, bracelets, legbands, rings, and earings, "Mrrrrrr..." she purred glancing over him, "You'll do nicely."

Before Sam could respond, the apparition slammed one of her paws into the side of his head, sending him flying into one of the many piles of treasure. He rose, somehow still unharmed, and gripped the left side of his head in pain, to find a single, gold earing now hung there. The figure laughed, and Sam noticed that one of her own earings was now missing, only to be replaced with a new, identical one, "Sorry for that, but you didn't feel the piercing did you?"

Just then, she stroked the replacement earing sending both it and the one in Sam's ear glowing. Sam felt an energy spread out from the earing and through his body. He was suddenly so hot, so aroused, he couldn't contain it. He needed someone, something, anything to fuck! His eyes locked on the creature before him. She wasn't strange, nor frightening anymore, to his lust addled mind she had never been anything other than what she was now: Irresistible.

The goddess smiled as her dress dematerialized, exposing her D-cup breasts, round, heart-shaped ass, and the rest of her curvy, hourglass figure, before sitting on the end of the sarcophagus. She lifted her hand and crooked her finger, "Come here mortal. I think you know what to do." She said, laying back, spread-eagle.

Sam wasted no time, rushing forward, tossing away his belt and freeing his painfully hard cock from his jeans, and gripping the beautiful creature's legs, he positioned himself at her entrance. "Go slowly, I want to enjoy this." Sam eased into her, producing a satisfied purr from the cat-woman, before pulling out and gently thrusting back in, it continued on like this for what seemed an eternity. He desperately wanted to go faster, harder, to satisfy the burning need that filled his body, and to clear his thoughts. But the order was clear and his body refused to disobey.

The spirit was purring almost continuously now as she met his agonizingly slow thrusts and fondled her breasts, tweaking the nipples every so often, "Mrrrrrr...yes...I can feel it...energy...give it to me! Let me have it!!! All of it!!! NOWWWWWWWW!!!" She screamed as an orgasm shook her entire body, her pussy clenching and spasming around Sam's shaft, causing him to explode inside her, his seed rushing to fill her. The goddess wrapped her tail and legs around Sam holding him to her as she drained him, "...mine...yes...all mine..." Finally, as the flow at last stemmed, her body relaxed, allowing Sam to collapse unceremoniously onto the ground.

Resuming a sitting position, the creature reached down and lifted Sam into her arms, holding him like a child, "I think you deserve a bit of compensation for that performance," She said, rubbing her belly, where the energy of Sam's cum was being used to recharge the goddess's powers after her long hibernation, "Lets see what you desire..." She gazed into Sam's half-closed eyes, filtering past the surface thoughts of fatigue, fear, and confusion, past memory and preconception , down to the very core of his soul, to what drove him, his deepest desire beyond food, money, sex, and, maybe, even life itself...purpose. A true, meaningful, purpose in life, "Well...I think I can do that." The spirit said, removing another earing, this one silver and quickly piecing Sam's ear.

He hissed and squirmed in her arms, the pain bringing him a moment of lucidity, but he was still too weak to break free, "Please..." he gasped, "...please..."

"Shhhhh...I know you're afraid little mortal, but trust me, you'll like the end, even if you don't like the means."

"But...what...who are you? What's your name?"

The creature smiled and ran a hand through his hair, "Names are fleeting, only there so that one may point at something and say 'that is mine,' and there is no one name for one thing, but if it will calm you, I will let you put one to me," A silver earing had replaced the one the goddess had put in Sam's ear, and it was time to begin. She leaned down and spoke into the ear she'd pierced, simultaneously activating the silver earings, and setting them to glow, "Name me, as Bast."

"Bast..." Sam whispered as energy flooded his body. But this time, the energy was soothing and cool, as opposed to the burning and need that had wracked him the first time. Sam let out a long, peaceful sigh as his eyes, formerly wide open with fear, half closed as his entire body was somehow simultaneously relaxed and energized. He felt restful, carefree, and...lightheaded. It seemed hard to think_...No... It's not hard to think...not hard at all...just don't want to think...don't need to think...yes..._ those were the last thoughts that passed through his head.

"That's it, just relax..." Bast said to the captive human, causing him to look more directly at her. He was immediately overcome with a multitude of feelings, awe, happiness, warmth, safety, and, most of all, an irresistible urge to please. "Go ahead little one," The goddess whispered, setting Sam down on his knees between her legs.

Keeping his eyes locked on the beautiful creature before him, Sam leaned forward and slowly ran his tongue up the lips of her vulva, drawing a slight purr and a nod of encouragement. Smiling at the sign of approval, Sam began lapping at Bast, putting slightly more pressure behind each lick before curling his tongue and thrusting it into her snatch, drawing a small gush of her juices and the remains of his own seed and gulping it down eagerly. As the flow increased, Sam closed his lips over the goddess's entire mound and sucked as he drew his tongue out, making circles around the edge of her slit before plunging back in.

This continued on for some time, the goddess biting back the urge to climax, knowing that for this to work the mortal had to ingest as much of her essence as possible, but Sam was having none of her holding out. He trusted his curled tongue into her, throwing his head forward as well, his teeth pressing into her crotch just hard enough to not cause pain, before flaring his tongue out and jamming it against the roof of her tunnel in a practiced motion, hitting her g-spot dead on.

Bast couldn't hold back and let out a half scream, half feline yowl of pleasure as her climactic juices were eagerly gulped down by the human between her legs, "....*gasp*...good mortal... very good mortal..." Sam beamed, a surge of happiness overtaking him at being praised, "...Now...stand up."

Sam complied with the order as Bast, to, got to her feet and made a motion with her hand, causing both her dress to reform and the lid of the sarcophagus to slide off, hovering in midair beside it, "Get in." She said, causing Sam to walk up the dias and lay down within the stone coffin as the lid slowly slid back into place, sealing him in, "Now then..." Bast held out her hands to her sides, causing pieces of jewelry to fly to her grip. Placing the jewelry on-top of the sarcophagus in strategic positions, the goddess took a deep breath and plunged her hand down through the middle of the lid, causing its granite surface to ripple.

She fished around inside for a moment before finding what she was looking for, getting a good grip on it, and yanking hard. Something thumped against the heavy lid as the trapped object struggled to hold on, but Bast was stronger and the resistance slowly fell away as the white cloud of light was extracted from the black granite. The light thrashed and struggled, even as the jewelry flew up into it, compounding with the effect of Bast's essence to allow it to be bound.

The light's struggles slowed, and then stopped, fading to a light shivering, "There there," Bast whispered, her hands beginning to gently kneed and stretch the mass of light, "Its almost over." She continued to shape the light like clay, a vaguely humanoid shape beginning to emerge, the jewelry from before now floating to its proper positions. As she worked, the outlines became finner, more solid, features beginning to come into focus. Cat-ears, face, and tail, c-cup breasts, a thin waist, slender digitigrade legs, and equally slender arms. The jewelry was soon revealed as gold bracers and ankle bands (fitting just above where the heel would be if the legs weren't digitigrade) as well as a kind of belt-loincloth combo (A waistband with two knee-length cloths on both sides on the garment, the back one having a hole for the tail) and two mismatched earings (one silver, one gold).

Eventually Bast smiled and stepped back to admire her work, "Live," she commanded, clapping her hands together.

The figure gasped with its new muzzle as it suddenly became real, black fur covering it as slitted blue eyes flew open for the first time. Where am I?! What happened?! Why does everything feel strange?! What am I?! WHO AM I?!!! The thoughts flooded her mind (It had quickly defined itself as female) and she immediately burst into tears at the strangeness of what was happening, her unfamiliar legs giving out beneath her.

Bast rushed forward and quickly caught her, cradling the comparatively little creature in her arms, "Shhh...its okay, you're safe. I know you're confused, and probably scared, but it will come back will come back to you soon. First off, can you tell me what your name is?"

The creature gave a sniff, "M-my name?" she thought hard, eventually coming to an answer, "I...I think my name's...Sam. Yes Sam, that's right..." that first bit of information led to other bits, and those led to chunks, until, very quickly Sam was back to normal, mentally at least.

"Better?" Bast asked with a smile, seeing that the former human was no longer crying.

"Y-yeah. But, what did you do to me?" There was no fear in in the feminine voice, nor indignation or anger, just pure, simple curiosity.

"Well to put it bluntly, I killed you..."

"WHAT?!"

"That is what you call it when you separate someone's soul from their body isn't it. Anyway I didn't just kill you. I killed you and then bound your spirit, keeping it on this plane of existence and giving it a guise."

"What's a guise?"

"It's a shape that a spirit uses while in the physical world. Without it, we'd just fall back into the spirit world."

"So a guise is like a body?"

"Only as far as clothing is like skin. The first is easy and simple to remove, replace, or swap, the latter...well you need special tools to remove it without...er...sending the person 'away.'"

"Okay. But, why?"

"What?"

"Why do this to me?"

"Well two reasons. First, as a goddess, exerting my powers outside a temple or a shrine like this requires a tremendous amount of energy that I will not be able to amass for some time. You however, serving as a scion (or avatar, whichever you prefer) can use a concentrated, if slightly diminished, version of that power without expending a great deal of energy. And second," Bast smiled, "It was the best way that I could see to give you what you wanted. A clear, concise purpose."

"I see..."

"If you don't like it, or simply don't want it, I can undo it right now, put you back in your body, erase your memories of what happened here, and send you on your way...but if you do like it..." the goddess held out her hand, causing a final piece of jewelry to come to her, "You'll need to put this on."

"What is it?" Sam asked, taking the object in her hands and examining it. It appeared to be a kind of necklace, or collar, with a drape of gold beads that would end up covering the tops of her shoulders, as well as hang into her cleavage, if she were to put it on.

"It's the last piece of the set that your currently wearing, and the last one needed to fully bind you to me as a scion, without it, your guise would dissolve the moment you stepped out of here."

"So I wouldn't be able to take it off?"

"Oh no, of course not. It's only necessary during the actual binding process, it and the other pieces will all just become regular jewelry once the binding is complete. It, however, can only be attached by the person being bound, and will only work if it is done freely."

"...pros and cons?" Sam asked, staring at the collar.

"Hm?"

"Um...good points and bad points."

"Ah yes, well, for starters you'd be immortal, able to stay in this plane as long as it suits you (most scions tend to get board with life after three-hundred years or so and decide to go to the spirit world afterwards), additionally, you'd probably end up having people seek you out for help (I don't know if you find that good or bad, but it's worth mentioning). You'd be immune to most forms of injury, and pain will be what it was always meant to be (a simple message telling you that your body, or guise, is being damaged). Finally, you will have to gather energy to both keep your guise stable and to fuel your powers."

"How would I do that?"

"Well you could eat high-quality food or drink for starters (but that is a minimum amount), or you could ask for it from the earth or trees or animals, they'll probably give you some (but again, 'some' is not 'much'), but the best way that I've found to gather energy was the way I got it from you earlier, consuming 'essence.'"

"...So I'd get to die on my own terms, get to help people, and have sex to maintain myself...am I hearing this right? What's the catch?"

"No catch, but you will be bound to me for the time you're in this world. And, before you ask what that entails I tell you. It would mean that you would become an extension of myself. You'd still be you, but a part of you would be me as well. Spiritually, it's the equivalent of having two or three hairs be a different color from the rest, but, over the centuries, the gods have learned that humans are very protective of their souls, so it is worth mentioning."

Sam thought for a moment, "...Okay..."

"Okay?"

"I'll do it."

Bast beamed, "I thought you might, the piece has a clasp at the back. Just put it on and the binding will happen automatically."

Sam fumbled with the clasp for a moment before opening the necklace up and bringing it around her neck, pausing for a moment, contemplating what she was doing, before firmly and decisively locking the collar in place. The effect was immediate, power flooded her as a link between herself and her new counterpart was established. She felt new knowledge come into her mind as suddenly she knew exactly how to work her guise and her new powers. She froze for a minute, quaking as the changes finished before turning to Bast and smiling, "That felt...so good...I...I feel so..."

Bast nodded, "I've heard from my past scions that it feels wonderful, to have that power for the first time, but I'm afraid you'll get used to it rather quickly, so enjoy the feeling while it lasts."

"I will, thanks," She nuzzled the goddess affectionately, and having it returned in kind, before Bast slowly pulled back, "What is it?"

The goddess looked up at the ceiling, "Your seeker friend has returned. He says to send you up, he doesn't seem too pleased with me."

"Seeker? Oh Luke! But...what's his part in all this? I mean, he pushed me down here. And why would he be upset with you?"

"The first question I'll let him answer himself, you two seem close. As to the second one, I told him I just needed your essence and that you'd leave as if nothing had happened.

"Oh...I see..."

"Go on, you know how to contact me if anything's up."

"Right then...bye..." Sam stepped from Bast's arms and walked down the corridor before leaping up, bouncing off the sides of the entrance shaft, and landing on the sand outside.

"It's about time," Luke said, un-phased by her appearance, "Do you have any idea how heavy these things are?!" he cried out with indignation, hefting the tires.

Sam stared at him a moment, before Luke winked at her with his green eyes, she couldn't suppress a giggle, "Good to see you to Luke."

He laughed to then, smiling, "So, a scion. Nice one, but you might not want to flaunt it in-front of the guys."

"Huh?"

"Well I don't know if you've forgotten, but seeing a six foot tall, half-naked, cat-woman generally isn't considered 'normal.'"

Sam looked down at herself for a moment, and then gasped with a blush as she realized that she was topless, and then realized after another moment that she didn't care, "What?" she asked, thrusting her chest out, "Don't like the view?"

"View's fine, but I can't see the horizon with you standing there," he chuckled, "Seriously though, change guise, we have enough problems without you scaring the ever-loving daylights out of Vincent, or getting Dave and Oliver horny as hell."

"Why would they be..."

"I'll explain on the way, same with the reason I pushed you into a hole, slashed the tires on the car, and did all other manner of weird stuff over the trip."

"Alright," Sam focused on her image, warping it, her outlines blurred for a moment before they reformed, leaving her appearing exactly as he had a few hours ago, "Okay, ready, lets go, you've got a lot of explaining to do."

"And I've got the the rest of the trip to do it..." Luke said as he and Sam began the long walk back to the car...
