So. I have started a novel. As I post the prologue, i am already busy with writing chapter 5. I will publish this and 2 more chapters and see if people like it. I do hope for some honest comments. The prologue and chapter one are short. The prologue is not needed to be lenghty and chapter one is... well I will post that soon and explain my reasoning.

The way i am writing this novel: I am now just writing the story, letting my main characters say what is needed to be said. Then if I am done I will add and work out details and descriptions. So, what you will read is a just a very rough draft. Still I do hope you all will like it.

Imagine a galaxy at peace. Oh, there is poverty, crime, drug-abuse, conflicting religions, piracy, disease and everything like that, but at least there is no war. Not anymore. There are thousands of different species, from felines to lizards and canine to equine and everything in between, under and over, living in peace.

Now imagine humanity. Punished for how they treated the other species lesser brothers and sisters. The humans, who enslaved and abused the beautiful animals of planet Earth, even driving them extinct. When humanity discovered the means for space travel and started colonizing the Sol system, they also were noticed by all the other species in the galaxy. It was not a war; it was a slaughter.

Humans had discovered space travel and the shield technology that was needed to travel through space, but they did not have any advanced weaponry to speak of. Several species formed the Galactic Alliance of Core worlds, GalCore for short and razed the Sol system with hundreds of ships, seeking vengeance, killing millions of humans. Earth was bombarded, irradiated and made uninhabitable. The loss of life of the lesser animals were called acceptable within the mission parameters to punish the humans.

The surviving humans fled, scattering all over the galaxy. Years later, Earth still exists. It is the biggest waste-dump in the galaxy, where people can drop their (bio)toxic and radiation wastes for only a minimal fee. Humans are the scum of the galaxy, the lowest of the low, surviving through crime, enslavement, prostitution and doing the most menial and hazardous jobs.

But times change and there are those that feel humanity has been punished too severe. Add the fact that GalCore ignored the losses suffered amongst the creatures of Earth, large groups are slowly rebelling against GalCore, claiming that every intelligent creature in the galaxy should be treated as equals.

On one of the outer edges of the galaxy, we find Nova Station, a save haven for humanity. It won't be for long as GalCore has discovered it's location and is attacking it with a great show of force, to convince others that it is folly to help humans.

Several ships escape though and make the jump to warpspace. Among them a tiny shuttle, with only three humans aboard, a married couple and their six-year old daughter.
