#4 of Armageddon [Abandoned, superseded by Acolytes of the Apocalypse]

A new Pokemon series I've decided to write, depicting a human named Richard, who finds a Sneasel that agrees to be his Pokemon. This is a story about their survival in a series of devastating natural disasters. Will they have the courage and strength to survive the incoming Armageddon? Only time will tell.

Hey there! This is a new series that I'll be writing, called "Armageddon"! It's a Pokémon story; some scenes in this story may be slightly disturbing to some readers. There will also be a few 'suggestive' scenes as well. However, those will be very few and far between. For a lot of reasons, this story is going to be focused on plot development for the most part. Also, keep in mind that I am not the most knowledgeable about Pokémon, so excuse any spelling errors or mistakes in the naming of certain places, items, etc.

Pokémon™ is intellectual property of Nintendo© and Game Freak, Inc. respectively.

Here is some information about the story format:

Armageddon: Chapter 2 - "Encounter"

Richard slowly opened his eyes, his vision coming into focus as he did so. He felt an odd warmth pressing against his left side and glanced over to see what it was, only to find Mia peacefully sleeping and holding a death grip on his left arm. Richard smiled at the sight, and lightly scratched under her chin with his right, to which she responded with a slight churr, and tightened her grip on his left arm even further while still sleeping. Richard let out a quiet snicker, and then gingerly reached over her with his right arm to grab his Pokedex off of the night stand, doing his best to move as little as possible. Once he successfully retrieved the device, he turned it on to check the time.

_'Noon.'_His smile slowly faded, they missed a few hours of precious training time! With a deep sigh, Richard snaked his arm from Mia's grasp and lifted himself off of the bed, still being careful as to not wake her up. She would need as much rest as she could get if they were going to make up the lost time. He lightly tip-toed into the bathroom and gently closed the door, yanked a towel off of the towel rack and jumped in the shower.

~XXXXX~

Mia awoke to the sound of running water in the bathroom. She awkwardly looked at her arms that seemed to be hugging nothing but air. She then hopped off of the bed and landed on the floor on one knee without making a sound, and stood up and rubbed her eyes with her claws to get her vision into focus as she groggily walked over to the door leading into the room and peeked into the hallway. Every room was empty with the doors wide open; she knew it had to be noon at the very least. She turned around to see Richard exit out of the bathroom in a bath robe.

"Morning!" He said in a cheerful voice, while throwing on a gray t-shirt and some blue jeans that were torn at the knees and ankles. Then taking his katana and mounting it on its holster.

"Good morning...Well, afternoon." She trailed off, scratching the back of her head with a claw.

"Right." Richard said, grinning at her snarky comment. "Are you ready to get some lunch?"

"Let me wash up first." She replied while taking a few steps towards the bathroom.

"Alright, I'll meet you in the lobby, and don't worry; I'll cover the cost of any soap or bottles you manage to cut in half." He said with a laugh as he dried his hair with a towel and discarded it into the laundry chute next to the door, and walked out of the room, while Mia glanced over her shoulder and rolled her eyes, then entered the bathroom and prepared herself a bath.

'Hmm, that's a little odd, she usually only takes baths after fighting or training.' He rubbed his chin, noticing that he also forgot to shave. Richard just shrugged and walked down the stairs into the lobby, took a paper from the newspaper rack then sat down to read. Some of the trainers that recognized him were giving a few nervous glances as they walked by. He could overhear a few of them talking about how he knocked out the Bulbasaur while saving Mia. Of course, the stories they were telling other people were stretched way out of proportion. He even heard one trainer say that he saw Richard's Sneasel practically bleeding to death on the ground. Richard shook his head and shivered at such a thought. He just sighed and concentrated on reading. A few minutes later he felt a sharp claw poke his shoulder and looked over to Mia, then gave her a single nod with his head as they both re-entered the cafeteria.

Practically half of the people in the cafeteria froze in place upon seeing them. Some trainers even rushing to finish their meals just so they could leave. Mia looked up at him curiously; he just looked at her and shrugged. They both got their food at the designated buffet areas, and then sat down next to each other at a vacant table. A trainer with blonde hair and brown eyes wearing a blue and black striped sweatshirt came up to them and sat across from them.

"Ya know, that was really great, what you did back there." He said to Richard with complete sincerity as he sat down. "Even I wouldn't have had the guts to such a thing." He continued. The trainer glanced over at Mia and then back to Richard for a few seconds. "The name's Derek." He said as he outstretched his hand towards Richard. Richard then promptly shook his hand.

"I'm Richard." He said warmly.

"Nice to meet you Richard, who is this Sneasel of yours?" He asked.

"I'm Mia." She spoke out with a plain voice. Although, the trainer didn't seem very surprised that she told him her name in English.

"Huh, Mia. Nice name." He said as he examined his sweatshirt for any food he might've spilt on it. As he was doing so, his cell phone rang. He fished it out of his pocket and looked at the screen for a brief second. "I got to take this. Nice meeting you guys." He said as he threw his trash into a nearby garbage bin and casually strolled out of the cafeteria.

"Well that was a little strange." Mia said out loud once he was out of earshot.

"Meh, I don't think so. He seemed like a pretty nice guy." Richard said admittedly. "Anyway, we should start training; it's nearly one o' clock." They both stood up from where they sat and threw away their trash as they exited the cafeteria. Richard quickly retrieved Mia's Poke ball from his room. They both exited and walked down the trail back into the forest near the outskirts of Fuchsia City for a while to see if they could find any bug Pokémon for Mia to fight. They did, but not in the way they were expecting. A female Scyther was standing in the middle of the road, her back facing both Richard and Mia. Richard took a step towards the creature, with Mia closely behind, claws raised. Just as he did so, the Scyther turned around, ran towards Richard and tackled him. Mia quickly raised her claws to slash the creature, but she stopped and started laughing when she saw the Scyther licking Richard's face.

"Blagh! What the hell?!" He yelled out, as he managed to push the creature off of him. They heard another person laughing as well. Richard stood back up, and dusted himself off as he looked in the direction of where the laughter was coming from, only to find Derek standing there with a grin on his face.

"Hey! What's the big idea?!" Richard exclaimed, irritated.

"Oh, come on, Richard! Lighten up!" Derek said as he began laughing again, while Mia was also trying to hold in her laughter. "I see you've met my Scyther. Her name is Isabel." He stated as he gestured with his thumb towards her and tried to stifle his laughter at the same time. "I'm assuming you are out here to train as well?" Derek asked.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" Richard asked, as he finally stood all the way back up from dusting himself off, his arms at his hips.

"Why else would a trainer bring a dark type into a bug infested area?" Derek asked sarcastically. He gestured one of his hands towards the forest to accent his point.

"Touché" Richard said dismissively.

"You know, none of these low level bug types are getting Isabel anywhere. Do you mind if Isabel and Mia spar with each other?" Derek asked, nearly begging.

Richard looked at Mia, who nodded. "Alright, Mia has no problem with it, so I don't see why not." He said with a little bit of worry in his voice.

Derek detected that he was worried. "Relax Richard, Isabel here is weak against Ice types, so it's an even fight." He assured him.

"Say, what level is she anyway?" Richard asked with suspicion.

"Level ten, I caught her a few weeks ago." Derek said nonchalantly. As he and Isabel arranged some sticks into a small circle on the dirt path.

"Alright, let's do it then." Richard said with a confident look on his face as he clasped his hands together. "You know what to do, Mia." Mia looked over to him and nodded as she approached the makeshift sparring circle that Derek and his Scyther assembled.

"Let's make this more interesting." Derek said mischievously. "I'll give you something I know you need if you win, or you hand me one-thousand Poke dollars if you lose." He said as he pretended to be fishing for an item that was in his backpack.

"What is this item 'You know I need'?" Richard asked with sarcasm and suspicion.

Derek pretended to have a satisfied look on his face as he zipped his backpack shut. "It's a secret." He said mockingly. "Although, I will say it is worth risking one-thousand Poke Dollars for, even though I have no use for it."

Mia looked over at Derek questioningly. "If you have no use for it, why do you have it?" she asked.

"Well, I was planning on selling it at one of the local shops. But apparently Fuchsia City doesn't have any expertise in--"He cut himself off. "Whoops, almooooost reveeeaaled the seeeeecreeeet." He said in a sing-song tone.

Richard just sighed "Fine. What are the rules?" He asked, annoyed by Derek's antics.

"Each competitor loses if their chosen Pokémon steps out of the circle, or gets knocked unconscious. Oh, and you also can't yell out any commands. This is a fight between the two Pokémon only, and remember, this isn't an actual fight. So tell Mia to show some restraint." Derek stated in a serious voice.

"Fair enough." Richard responded. "You ready M--" Richard cut himself off as he quickly looked all around him, only to find Mia in the sparring circle several feet from Isabel, sizing each other up. He smiled with confidence at the fact that she was showing so much determination. Despite the Scyther being a whole two feet taller than Mia. She didn't look the least bit intimidated.

"Ready when you are." Derek said with confidence.

"Ready."

"Alright, FIGHT!" Derek yelled in anticipation.

The sparring match both started with Mia and Isabel simply staring at each other. Mia knew that Isabel had much stronger attacks and was more durable than her thanks to the thick exoskeleton, but Mia also knew that she herself was much quicker. To her, it was all about speed versus strength. Mia waited for Isabel to make the first move. She wanted to know what she was going to be up against as far as moves were concerned. Isabel started off with a quick slash attack against Mia. Who easily dodged the attack and countered by stabbing the Scyther dead center in the torso through an opening she left. Isabel winced, but stood steadfast. The Scyther then used another cut attack, this time faking out Mia by pretending to attempt hitting her from her left, but actually hit her on the right. Mia growled in pain as the tip of Isabel's scythe cut into her flesh.

Mia managed to get the Scyther away from her and countered by using Leer to lower Isabel's blocking capabilities, then jumped into the air and slashed downward onto Isabel, who attempted to dodge the move, but ended up getting a deep cut in her left shoulder. Isabel then responded by smacking Mia straight in the face with the blunt side of one of her blades, effectively knocking her to the ground, close to the edge of the circle. Mia sat up, looking dazed, then quickly got back up on her feet, albeit a bit unsteadily. She quickly got her bearings and dodged another incoming attack from the Scyther, who tripped over herself expecting to hit something, but only hit thin air, then fell to the ground for a split second, before using her wings to pick herself back up.

Richard and Derek both watched the battle intently. Derek was anxiously watching his Pokedex as the fight continued. While Richard focused on watching the battle itself, studying how Mia and Isabel moved when they blocked, hit, and dodged inside of the sparring circle. He was thinking of ways to improve his own fighting style while watching them, so he could potentially become better at using his katana. He was quite nervous though, one-thousand Poke dollars were on the line, and if he lost, he wouldn't have the funds to get Mia a Razor Claw.

Both Mia and Isabel suffered from many bruises, scratches and cuts. Isabel was a little off balance, while Mia was having trouble keeping her vision in focus. Mia took the opportunity to think of a plan. She knew the main objective was to get the opponent to step outside of the circle, and knocking the other out would only be necessary if neither of them could get an upper hand on each other. Mia thought up a quick and clever plan, and then grinned once the Scyther started charging towards her again. She could see that the Isabel was getting angry, which was exactly what she wanted. 'That's right, let the anger blind you.' She thought to herself. Mia took a couple of hits and dodged a few more trying to get a good position to let her plan take action. She finally did, and stared closely at the Scyther once again on the other side of the circle. Isabel then charged straight towards her once more, Mia quickly side-stepped the charge and delivered a kick directly to the center of Isabel's left knee, causing her to stagger forward and fall, then rolling a few times, breaching the boundary of the circle as she finally came to a stop.

Richard was surprised at how suddenly the battle ended. He congratulated Mia on a job well done. Mia awkwardly shook the Scyther's blade once she stood up, by wrapping both of her hands around it, then moving both of her arms in an up and down motion. Isabel appreciated the effort, and patted Mia on the shoulder as congratulations. Derek walked over to them.

"That was a great finishing move!" Derek said ecstatically. "I totally didn't expect that!" He was full of excitement from watching the battle. He eventually calmed himself down and looked at Richard as he opened up his backpack and reached inside, fishing for something.

"Well, I am a man that stays true to his word." He clenched a fist around the object he was holding in his palm as he put his backpack down, then walked over to Richard and placed it in his hand. It was a Razor Claw.

Both Richard and Mia's eyes went wide. "W-where'd you get this?" Richard managed to stutter out.

"Let's just say I have a few connections." Derek replied with a smirk. "Great battle by the way."

"Likewise." Richard replied, placing the Razor Claw in one of his front pockets.

"Well, I should get going now; I have places to be and things to do." Derek said as he recalled Isabel into her ball. "I'll see you guys around. Maybe even for a rematch." He said as he turned around and began walking in the other direction.

Richard and Mia both waved him goodbye, which Derek returned as he slowly disappeared into the depths of the forest.

Richard checked the time with his Pokedex. "Yikes, it's 5 o' clock already." Richard said with shock. "What to do you say we return to town?" He asked as he looked down at Mia who was still staring into the forest with fire in her eyes. "Mia?" She didn't respond, and Richard followed her gaze, spotting a man who looked like a detective straight from the movies, brown trench coat and all. He had a hunting rifle slung across his back. He was staring at Mia, when he noticed Richard also staring at him. "So, how much for that Sneasel?" He asked innocently as he withdrew his revolver from its holster underneath his trench coat.

"Uhm, she isn't for sale..." Richard gave the man a stern look, while covertly reaching for his katana that was resting in a holster of its own.

He suddenly realized who he was; he could only feel rage well up inside him. "Wait a minute...you're..." He practically fell silent as he withdrew his katana. "...one of them." He finished, mustering inane amounts of spite in his voice.

The poacher just stood there and stifled a chuckle. "Took you long enough to figure out. That damn Sneasel knows who I am the second she sees me." He grinned as he raised his revolver, but didn't point it at Richard... he pointed it at Mia.

"I got demoted because you escaped, you damnable mutt... this time, I won't let it happen again!" He hissed as he placed his finger over the trigger. But before he could even think of pulling it, Mia was in mid-air. Claws extended, rage burning in her eyes, hurling towards the hunter. She pulled back one of her arms and delivered a mighty slash across the hunters face, cutting as deep as she could. The poacher cried out in pain, and fired a few blind shots from his revolver as he fell to the ground, clenching his now bleeding face, dropping the revolver in the process.

Mia wasn't going to stop her assault there, no; she was going to make him pay. "You took my family away from me." She said in a low and angry voice. "Everything I loved, gone. Just because you wanted a new door mat!" She clenched her claws into fists. Tears were now beginning to form in her eyes. Her eyes were deep amber, wild with anger. "If you think, that you can get away with taking away someone's own childhood. You are sorely mistaken. I will get my vengeance, mark my Mother. Fucking. Words." She slowly whispered with pure hostility. Staring face to face with the hunter, she grabbed a fistful of his shirt at the collar and pulled, making him look up at her. "You are now... at my mercy." She gave an evil smile.

The hunter only stared back, saying two simple words. "Fuck. You." He spat.

Mia grazed her claws across his neck, not killing him, but making him bleed from the cut. "You wish." She sarcastically replied. She suddenly withdrew her claws from his neck, and stabbed him straight in the eye. Making the hunter scream an inhuman scream in pain as blood sprayed from the socket, Mia only laughed. "You will know the pain I felt that night, the pain of your whole world being crushed before your very eyes. The pain of knowing the parents who raised you, are now dead. The pain of nearly starving to death in a dark cave." She then stared directly into his only functioning eye. "But no matter what I do to you, you will never know the worst pain you could ever possibly feel..." She then stabbed her claws straight into the hunter's gut. He cried out in pain once more, his face covered in blood. "...is the sympathy of another. Sympathy... that you know... You. Don't. Deserve." She pulled her bloody claws from the hunter's gut. He gasped for air, then passed out from the amount of pain, and blood loss. She turned around to face Richard, who watched the entire ordeal without interference. Mia suddenly felt a pang of guilt hit her. But she noticed something odd about how he was standing. Richard was on his knees, hands clasped around his chest. A red puddle was slowly expanding throughout his t-shirts material. Mia gasped and ran to him.

"Richard!" She yelled. She now felt absolutely terrible.

"I-I'm alright." He said as he looked at the body of the hunter and got a little nauseous. He then fell to the ground the rest of the way. "Get me... to a hospital." He then closed his eyes.

"Richard! Richard! RICHARD!" Mia yelled, trying to shake him awake. "Come on, please wake up! PLEASE!" She panicked, thoughts racing through her head. 'How do I get him to the hospital?! Will he die?! What would I do without him?!" The thoughts kept on coming, and Mia clenched her head in anger, frustration, and despair. She felt the same way on that faithful night her parents were killed. But this time, she wasn't the victim. This time, she was the culprit. She fell to her knees, placing her claws on his body. "Please." She whimpered, she stayed like that for a few moments in silence, before a realization came over her. "No... not again. I'm not going to let them take away someone I care about ever again! Or I'll die trying!" Determined not to lose him, she took Richard by the arms, and began the slow and agonizing trek back to the city.

But one thought kept on replaying in her head, it caught her attention.

'That's right. Let the anger blind you.'

~XXXXX~

It took nearly over an hour for Mia to drag him back to the city. She checked his pulse periodically. He was still alive, thankfully. It was now getting dark. The hospital was just down the street. She was taking the back alleys, making sure that she wasn't seen by any passerby. A blood covered Sneasel dragging a trainer with a bullet wound in his chest would make anyone suspicious. Mia finally made it through the doors of the hospital.

"Help me, please! My trainer has been shot!" She yelled out in the lobby. All of the sudden, a Nurse Joy ran out into the lobby, followed by multiple Chansey. Nurse Joy flinched at all of the blood covering the Sneasel and her trainer.

"What in Arceus's name happened?!" She yelled in shock.

"No time to explain! Please, you need to save him! He could die at any moment!" She pleaded.

Nurse Joy got a determined look on her face, and motioned two of the Chansey to quickly fetch a stretcher, while the third one injected him with some kind of thickener to slow the blood loss. In record breaking speed, the Chansey ran back, gently placed Richard on the stretcher, and rushed into an operating room, Nurse Joy and Mia following closely behind. Mia watched anxiously as the surgery went underway to get the bullet out of his body.

~XXXXX~

"Well... we had a few close calls. But he should make a full recovery." Nurse Joy said as she rubbed the sweat from her forehead, accidentally smearing blood on her face in the process. "He's lucky to have such a loyal Pokémon willing to drag him here from the outskirts of the city. If he was left out there he would've died." She said with a sigh of relief. Nurse Joy looked over to Mia, who was nervously fiddling with her claws. She still had dried blood all over herself. "I don't think a single bullet wound can produce that much blood." She said with suspicion.

"I-It's a long story." Mia responded. "I'll fill you in later." She glanced away from Nurse Joy out of nervousness.

"You should get cleaned up; there are some showers down the hallway." She motioned towards the hallway to the left that intersected into the main hallway.

Mia nodded, and walked down the hallway to wash up.

Several hours passed, Mia waiting anxiously next to Richard's hospital bed. The various machines making beeping and buzzing noises and the occasional stretcher rolling by were the only break from the silence that seemed to consume the room. Mia glanced at Richard, she couldn't handle how guilty she felt. _'This is my entire fault. I shouldn't have been so blinded by my rage.'_She thought to herself. Then the thought echoed through her head;

'That's right, let the anger blind you'

'That's right, let the anger blind you'

'That's right, let the anger blind you'

Mia clenched the sides of her head; she wanted the thoughts to stop. She got up from the chair she sat in and walked up next to his bed. "Richard... If you can hear me... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to drag you into this. I lost my self-control, just please wake up. Please, I couldn't live with myself knowing you died because of me." She looked at Richard, who was sleeping peacefully, his chest slowly rising and falling with each breath. She wrapped her arms gently around his neck, and cried into the bed sheets that were resting on top of his body. She didn't know how long she cried, but the sun was now peeking through the closed blinds of the window on the opposite side of the room. She suddenly faced the door that opened. A Chansey walked in and placed a meal for Richard on the table next to the bed. She noticed Mia, and walked over to her, then placed one of her stubby arms on her shoulder.

(You care about him a lot, don't you?) The Chansey said to her in a calm, and soothing, but strangely high pitched voice.

(More than you know.) Mia replied, sadness filled every word that came out of her mouth as she stared at the ground.

(Trust me, I know. I could hear you crying the entire night.) The Chansey replied, not a hint of sarcasm to be found in her statement.

(I just... I couldn't live with myself if he died because of me. I lost my temper, and this is the result.) More tears began welling up in her eyes.

(The person that caused you so much pain deserved it.) The Chansey replied, nodding.

(Wait, H-how did you know?) Mia asked in shock.

(I can read your face and mind like an open book.) The Chansey simply replied.

There was a moment of silence, before Mia spoke up once again.

(I guess I now know why I'm a dark and ice type.) She said bitterly. (My heart is dark and my soul is cold.)

The Chansey shook her head. (No, you are not evil. You show so much compassion, what you did last night saved his life.) She said admirably.

(But, I'm the cause of all of this in the first place... I don't think he'll ever forgive me.) Mia replied, still looking down at the ground, tears falling from her eyes.

(No you aren't. Richard knew what he was getting into by capturing a recently poachable species.) She said the last part of the sentence with disgust. The Chansey hated poaching of any creature.

Mia only sighed, and looked up at the Chansey.

(You aren't evil, Mia. I can tell. You are just blaming yourself for your past. You blame yourself for the tragic death of your parents, and now for this. I know you only have good intentions.) The Chansey then pulled the egg out of her pouch and offered it to Mia.

(Here, you look famished.) She said as she placed the egg in Mia's claws.

(Thank you so much.) She replied modestly.

The Chansey only nodded to her, before walking out of the room and shutting the door behind her.

A few more hours passed. Mia was sitting in a chair next to Richard's bed, sleeping, when she was awakened by a low groan coming from Richard. Mia immediately jumped up from the chair and rushed to the side of his bed.

"Uuuugh. Wha- What happened?" He asked to the air as he groggily rubbed his eyes. The pain he felt in his chest hurt like no other. He fully opened his eyes and took a look at his surroundings, he was in a hospital, and he glanced to his left to find Mia looking at him with a hopeful look in her eyes, which shifted into one of pure joy.

"Richard! You're alive!" She jumped onto the bed and hugged him as tightly as she could, not willing to let go for anything else in the world.

"Ack, Mia. You are hugging me a little too... tightly." He said as he winced in pain.

Mia lightened her grasp a little bit, and Richard heaved a sigh of relief.

"Sorry." She responded.

Richard chuckled, "It's perfectly fine." He then returned her hug, which got a churr from Mia, who nuzzled her head into his chest.

She looked up at him, staring directly into his eyes. Richard was taken aback at how beautiful her eyes really were, the sunlight seeping into the room only amplified the effect, as it reflected off of the metal guard rails and made her golden eyes glisten in the sunlight. She then got a guilty look on her face, and then glanced at the bed.

"I'm sorry for dragging you into this." Mia said solemnly. She looked back up into his eyes once more.

"Dragging me into this? What are you talking about?" Richard said with mild disbelief. "Mia, I would travel to the ends of the earth, just to see you happy. A simple bullet wound isn't going to hinder that." He replied warmly. "We are the closest of friends; I wouldn't give that up for anything in the entire world. I completely understand why you lost your temper with that hunter, and honestly, I can't blame you." A brief moment of silence followed. "And before you say it, I forgive you."

A look of relief, and happiness shone on Mia's face, her eyes lighting up one more. "Thank you. Richard." She then nuzzled her head against his chest once more. They both enjoyed each other's embrace. For how long, they didn't know. All they cared about was the happiness of the moment.

~XXXXX~

The rest of the day was uneventful, Nurse Joy, with the assistance of Mia, helped Richard get up to walk around again. They spent the entire day treating his wounds and speeding up the recovery. By the end of the day, Richard was fit to leave the hospital. They both left the hospital with a smile on their faces, both of them walking side-by-side towards the Pokémon Center. Richard walked up to the desk and rented the room for another day, which the Nurse Joy there once again only charged him half price for. They were both exhausted from such a long day, and skipped dinner entirely.

Richard walked into the room and collapsed on one of the beds once they reached the room, falling asleep instantly.

"Oh how the mighty have fallen." Mia said to herself sarcastically, as she laughed. She noticed Richard left his backpack on the nightstand, and went to investigate. With a little effort she was able to get it open without damaging the backpack. Her eyes went wide when she saw the Razor Claw inside the bag. She then got an idea.

Mia grabbed the Razor Claw, and climbed into the bed with Richard. She took her place right next to him, and held the Razor Claw against her chest as she closed her eyes.

"Please work." She whispered, she fell asleep moments later. The Razor Claw beginning to shine as she did so.
