Fishing

Cole sat at his desk and rubbed his for head, so deep in work he couldn't think straight anymore. He lives alone and made a loud sigh that filled the whole room. He decided to take a break from the paper work and walked out into his living room, sitting on the couch he stretched out and closed his eyes.

"God I hate life." He spoke out to himself.

He jumped as soon as a knock hit his door, scrambling up to look out the peep hole before actually opening it. The person at the door was none other than Mimic, someone who sees himself as Cole's friend, even though that wasn't always the case. Cole decided he couldn't be too much of a bother and he was a little lonely. Cole opened the door and quickly got a hand shake from the wolf, Mimic let himself in as he always seems to do with people he knows, regardless of if they actually said he could or not. Cole slightly scolded him for the entry.

"H-hey, what are doing here?"

Mimic only smiled and sat down on the couch, crossing his legs and making a small chuckle.

"Why? Because I'm bored, you sit here by yourself all the time so I thought I could visit."

Cole paused before replying; he sat next to Mimic and nodded. His voice got calmer and he readjusted himself, putting his legs behind Mimic so he could lie out again. Mimic laid back and put his arms over the end of the couch and looked over at the lion, with a naturally charming voice he started.

"So what do you do while alone?"

"I've been neck deep in paper work; I just now decided to take a break from it."

"Ah so I have good timing. Hey I have a question."

Cole held his hand close to his mouth and told him to ask away. Mimic looked in his eyes and it made Cole a little less comfy. Mimic huffed and swirled his finger.

"Would you be interested in fishing? Tep isn't free to take so..."

"S-so I'm the next door to hit? I mean, yeah I'll go but I-I didn't think I would be your n-next option."

"Hey, fishing is a good way to bond without speaking, which I know you hate doing because of that stutter." Mimic leaned over and lifted Cole's chin up with a finger, to which Cole blushed and looked a little annoyed. Mimic got up and walked to the door, motioning Cole to follow. Cole got up and saw that Mimic had the gear ready for the two to just get up and go. Cole followed the large wolf into the woods and to a medium sized lake. The two set up and Cole threw his line first, the two sat there quietly and waited. Mimic paid less attention to the line and glanced at Cole more, Cole on the other hand had his full focus on the water. Mimic softly whispered.

"Such focus ha..." Cole moved his ear towards Mimic, but never took his gaze off the water.

A little more time passed before Mimic stood up and reeled in his line, a fair sized cat-fish, and good enough to eat. Mimic tossed it into a bucket filled with ice cold water; this did get Cole's attention as he watched the fish panic over the temperate. Mimic clapped his hands to get the cat's attention back on him.

"Hey you got something too."

Cole hastily spun only to have nothing on the end of the hook. Cole looked disappointed for a second before casting again. Mimic settled down again and told Cole the goal; he would even get a fish or two. After about 2 hours of this, they had 2 large fish, 3 medium sized and 8 little ones in the bucket. Mimic's home was closer and they went there first, Mimic didn't really have a house but more of a cave... Mimic was the definition of a feral animal really, while Cole seemed like a stressed house cat. Cole stood there awkwardly, unsure of whether he was going to stay or leave. Mimic got done packing away the fish, all but two of the bigger ones for cooking; he handed one of them to Cole and smiled happily.

"Here, you can have the best one for your effort. I got to prepare for night, you should head back home before that fish spoils."

Cole nodded and quickly ran back home to set the fish in the fridge... He did however set up his kitchen to cook it tonight. Once done he prepared and made his dinner, with a side of bread and butter with a non-alcoholic wine for a drink. The first bite of that fish was wonderful, maybe even the best tasting fish he ever had for himself. He finally smiled for the first time this day, after he was finished he gleefully cleaned up and sat on the couch. He stretched out and sighed, pleased that Mimic had actually showed up today.
