Chapter Five

Dante, Erebosian Wolf

"Forge your own path, no one's going to forge it for you."

--Yours truly

As they walked, Arron kept on discussing something with Riskar, as Narr decided to join Markus in the back of the parade, since Farinay had rejected him so. Walking with his paws in his pockets, he looked up at the sky, which seemed to be a pale sort of lime, that almost looked like marsh slime, giving everything a sort of erie luster, as a few sickly white clouds floated in it.

"Your planet has a much nicer sky, I wish we had one like it too." he said to Markus, trying to pick up a topic of discussion to break the ice.

"I never really thought about our sky much, I always thought that it was kind of boring..." he said, as he stared up at the heavens above, with a sense of unease as he looked up at the sky. "I can see what you mean, but I think yours is kind of cool."

Chuckling as he looked down at the ground again, Narr replied,"Gee, thanks."

As they continued to walk on, a thought rose up, and Markus asked Narr, a little apprehensively,"Hey, Narr? You know how you mentioned Arron having a few theories about what my magically abilities could be?"

Looking up again, a slightly dazed expression in his eyes, Narr replied,"Huh what? Oh! That, well he was sort of really vague about it, we didn't really understand his point until he mentioned something about 'light', at which point we told him he was crazy because there hasn't been a light user in decades, not even the Norkines have been able to obtain one."

His brow furrowing, Markus looked sideways at Narr, asking,"Norkines? Who are they?"

Shaking his head with a smile on his muzzle, Narr replied,"Oh sorry, I keep forgetting that you still don't know a lot. The word Norkines means in a really old language,"The Stalkers", it's what we call the government here, because they constantly creep on everyone here."

Nodding, Markus was just about to ask another question about light when Farinay suddenly grabbed him by the shirt collar and quickly pulled him down into the tall grass off of the road,

"Hey! What was tha-" "Shh!" Narr clamped a paw around Markus's muzzle, just as with a sound like metal grating against metal, a large rectangular vehicle whizzed by, clunking all the way due to the bumps in the road.

Arron cursed quietly to himself,"They found the dead bodies, they're sending out scouts everywhere, we have to be more careful than ever." Motioning with a paw, Farinay stood up and they continued to walk towards the city, which was now getting closer and closer. About an hour later, they were just before the city security gate, Arron whispered something into Riskar's ear, who nodded, and took out a small, round shaped pod.

Placing it on the ground, it suddenly grew legs, and teetered from side to side, before clicking and shaking itself, it then speed off into the distance on it's thin spindly legs, and headed for the guard station. As Markus watched, he saw the little thing reach the guard box, then slowly beginning to crawl up it's side. Before suddenly climbing up completely and leaping onto the current's stations muzzle. The husky yelped and began pawing at the contraption, desperately trying to get it off his face. After about ten seconds of struggling, the guard suddenly slumped over, unconscious, as the little machine sheathed a long needed from one of it's legs out of the guard, before hopping over to the controls, and flipping a few switches, which opened the gates.

"Go go go!" Arron yelled, as they emerged and sprinted into the city, tails swishing behind them, as the gadget leapt and clung onto Riskar's shoulder as he ran past. Access granted in the city, they immediately crept into an alley, and began to follow Farinay's lead once more,"This is way, we should be there any minute now." A deep voice suddenly came from the shadows, saying,"Oh, if only that were true for you, wretched traitors!"
