#1 of Story Time

Every once in a while, I do a little bit of story time for my friends where I just make it up as I go along. Usually on Skype or Facebook. A few have requested that I put them up on here for viewing. They're extremely short and read more like a children's story, but I hope you all still enjoy them anyway.

Once upon a time near a small town far, far away, lived a magical, golden furred wolf.

No one in the town had ever seen more than a glimpse of the wolf, of course. He was fast and secretive. But his howl was like sweet music. Whenever the villagers heard it, they would smile and feel sweet peace in their hearts. They knew the wolf was good, and loved him.

But in the small town there was one boy who was not fully content. He would hear the wolfs sound but he would feel such a pang of longing. He wanted to see the wolf, touch the soft glowing, golden fur, to hear his music up close. He wanted the wolf to be his.

Often he would think about the wonderful life he and the wolf would have together. As the boy got a little older, he finally decided to go out and catch the wolf. They would become close friend, he knew, and the wolf would sing and sing just for the boy.

The boy was a fluffy husky. Of course, only a husky could come up with such scheme such as this one did. For a week, he had gone over almost every bit of land he could find where he could remember having had seen wolfs glow. He had set numerous traps to catch the wolf. He felt a little bad at this, but he knew the wolf would understand. He would smile and be grateful for a new friend.

He watched patiently for days until he grew tired of waiting. Finally he packed a few supplies and went farther out into the wilderness, setting up more of his traps once he was out far and alone.

After a week, he began to lose hope that he'd ever succeed. His food was low and he would have to leave soon.

But then, one night, he woke up to see a bright light glowing off in the distance. Excited, the husky ran out into the darkness towards it. There, as he'd hoped, was the magic wolf, trapped in a cage the husky had cleverly set to fall.

The wolf was magnificent. He was twice as large as any normal wolf and he ran on all four legs. His fur was thick and lustrous and the brightest yellow gold color anyone had ever seen. He had mesmerizing dark red eyes. Emanating from him was a scent of summer; the smell of vibrant flowers, clean, clear streams and fresh grass.

The area all around the cage was lit with his magical glow. The little husky cried in joy at the sight and hurried up to the cage, kneeling down. "H..hello there.." he managed to say after a few moments. "Will you sing for me, please? Your voice is so wonderful!". But the great wolf remained silent, looking back at the boy sadly.

The silence stretched for many hours. The boy tried to talk to wolf, telling him how happy he was to finally meet him, how beautiful he looked, how he only wanted to have the wolfs beauty with him always, that he had loved the wolf ever since he'd first caught a glimpse of him years ago.

The wolf remained silent though. Just looking back out of his cage. Eventually the husky stopped talking and just watched back. He couldn't bring himself to leave the wolf, not ever. Days passed by, the huskies supplies ran out but still he waited, watching the wolf and praying in his heart that the wolf would love him back.

After a long time, the husky was horribly weak. With no food and water and hardly any sleep, he could barely keep his eyes open. He couldn't even stand. As tears trailed softly down the side of his muzzle, he began to realize he probably couldn't even make it back home, not that he could've left the wolf, even now. Eventually, he crawled towards the wolfs cage. Grasping the bars, he pulled himself up and leaned heavily against it. "Please...please sing for me..." He moaned, resting his head sadly against the cage.

However, the wolf refused, staying silent still longer.

Sighing with deep sadness and regret, he used the last of his strength to haul himself up and undo the clasps of the cage, falling backwards onto the grass exhausted afterwards.

As he lay breathing slowly, his vision began to darken. He was barely able to see the wolf walk slowly towards him and sit near his chest. "I'm so...sorry" He whispered raggedly, "You are so perfect...I only wanted to be with you..forever.." More tears slowly fell from his eyes as he reached out and touched the wolfs foreleg gently. The soft, golden fur was the best thing the husky had ever felt in his life.

The wolf looked down at him and saw into his heart. He knew the boy was sweet, loving and kind above all others. He had made a mistake, but the wolf knew it had not been for any evil purpose. So, at last he howled, deep and long into the night. The sound of it filled the surrounding forest, just for a moment making everything brighter, healthier, more pure and full of life.

The boy smiled, trying to thank the wolf, but he had no more energy left. He closed his eyes.

However, the wolf did something it had never done before. But it was something that in this moment, felt right. So the wolf leaned down and touched the center of the huskies chest with his nose. He breathed out and concentrated on his instincts. And suddenly, a soft light began to surround the husky. It swirled around him and covered him until his body could no longer be seen.

When the light faded, another great golden wolf stood in the huskies place. The other wolf looked around, seeming confused. Then, the first wolf walked up gently and nuzzled the side of his neck affectionately. The new wolf suddenly smiled brightly and howled as loudly as he could.

The other joined him and, together, their voices entwined and mixed and danced across all the land. The villagers heard it and instead of simply smiling happily as usual, they broke into tears of joy. The sound seemed to contain all the worlds happiness, faith, love and beauty. Everyone cried out and looked towards the bright glow, blessing the wolf and whatever had caused it to feel such joy. Together, the two wolves raced through the forest, playing and singing their love and friendship while their glow lit up the land around them.

To this day, the villagers will tell you that if you sit and wait carefully, you can sometimes see their shining light moving about the trees and that the slightest glimpse of them will fill you with contentment for hours afterwards. Though they don't know how it happened, they'll tell you about a lovesick boy that went out to find joy and succeeded.

The End.
