A Favor Owed

A stiff breeze blew through the sun-kissed countryside, causing the grass to sway as a lone figure walked down the dirt road that cut through it. The fox monk named Nuffie smiled slightly as the wind blew through his red fur, his monk staff tapping against the ground as he made his way to the next village. He had been traveling for as long as he could remember, and while sometimes his destination was unclear his purpose like crystal in his mind. The world was filled with experiences and adventures and he wanted to experience them all, trying to see as much of the world as possible while he was still young and healthy. Sometimes he could hear the clock of his own mortality ticking, driving him forward on his nomadic path.

"Oh dear." Nuffie replied as his wandering brought him to the edge of an extremely large chasm, looking down in the pitch darkness that made up the bottom of it. The gorge had not been on the map that he had purchased from the last town, frowning slightly as he brought it out and looked at it. What he saw confirmed his suspicions, while the road he had been traveling down was marked the gorge was not, and unfortunately there were no other roads in the vicinity. Unfortunately his dwindling supplies meant that he either pushed forward or risk starving before he could double back.

Nuffie poked at the boards with his walking stick, the whole structure shuddering slightly. Despite the risk he placed one foot on the structure, hearing the wood creak under him as he started to inch his way forward. The bridge continued to hold under the fox as he continued on, gripping the rope handrail tightly as he slowly inched his way forward. "Alright, so far so good." The fox monk said as the bridge swayed slightly from a strong breeze that came up from the gorge.

About a third of the way through one of the more rotted boards snapped, causing Nuffie to gasp slightly as he held onto the rope for support. It was a bad omen, but he had already gotten rather far and as he stepped on the wooden plank after the open gap he found it much more solid. With a renewed sense of courage he once more ventured forth along the creaking structure. When he reached two thirds of the way there he allowed himself a small glimmer of hope that he would get through unscathed.

That hope was quickly dashed however as the rope handrail snapped, causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards. The ancient wood was not nearly strong enough to support such an impact and the fox yelled out as he began to fall towards the unyielding darkness of the gorge below. Thankfully his iron grip on the rope held fast as he was jerked back from certain death, two more boards snapping before he finally stopped hung there in midair. His mind raced as he struggled to regain his composure to formulate a plan, looking frantically from side to side as he felt the damaged bridge protest his continued weight on in and threaten to collapse at any time. Nuffie realized bitterly that even if he managed to climb back up he would still be stuck on the middle of the nearly destroyed bridge that began to tip downwards towards certain death.

"Oh dear, it appears you are in a spot of trouble." Nuffie suddenly heard from above, the confused monk looking around trying to find the source of the new voice. "Up here, my dear."

Nuffie's jaw dropped slightly as he saw what looked like a black dragon lying on several of the still-intact boards and looking down at him. The creature's skin had an unnatural shine to it though, as though covered in gleaming rubber as its red eyes gleamed even in the daylight. The only thing Nuffie could think of was 'demon', though in all his travels he had never actually met such a creature and heard about them only in myths and legends. Even so it appeared once was smiling down at him at that moment, a sudden jolt as the bridge shuddered and fell downwards a few more inches.

"Get off the bridge, it's about to collapse!" Nuffie called out, which only prompted the creature to chuckle at him.

"I am aware of the situation." The demon dragon replied. "While I admire your valor in concerning yourself with my safety over your own, I am here for you. I was just passing by when I noticed your predicament, so I thought I would intervene and offer you the chance to save your life."

"You're... you're going to help me?" Nuffie said, his hope cutting slightly through the immense fear he felt.

"No, you are going to help yourself." The dragon corrected. "I was drawn here by your ambition and your will to live; therefore I will pluck you from the jaws of death this day, but in return you must follow me and serve me in my realm. Before you ask, no I can't save you and let you go, you are destined to leave this plane as you are and... bad things happen if you mess with that too much. I can however give you an alternate exit to current path you are on, as well as some very beneficial perks to serving me. You will go on daring and dangerous missions, heed my whims, and essentially give me your very being for me to mold how I see fit. Give it a thinking over, though judging by the stability of this bridge you don't have long to mull it for long since this offer expires.... When you do."

The ominous words of the demon caused a shudder to run through the monk's body, causing him to sway slightly. While spending his life serving the creature did not sound extremely appealing it was much better than his body disappearing into the blackness below. As he continued to weigh the options he heard one of the supports for the bridge snap, causing him to fall several more inches before stopping once more. The creature was right, if he wanted to take the offer he had precious little time to accept it before the bridge finally gave way.

"Al...alright." Nuffie stammered slightly, looking away from the grinning demon.

"What is that?" The demon replied, craning his neck down as though pretending to not hear him. "I believe it was an enthusiastic 'yes master', but I can't be sure and I would hate to force you into something you didn't want."

Nuffie sighed inwardly, realizing the grinning dragon was toying with him as his life literally hung on the line. 'Yes mast-" his words were cut short as a loud crack echoed through the air, the fox's body plunging downward. He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth as the wind rushed past and whipped his clothing around him as he prepared for his demise...

Then suddenly his movement stopped, for a few seconds Nuffie waited before he opened his eyes once more. He found himself on solid ground, the demon staring at him with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face. "Cut that one a little close, did we?" He said. "My name is Renzyl, now that we have the time for introductions."

"My name is Nuffie." The fox monk introduced.

"A pleasure Nuffie." Renzyl replied before he clapped his hands together. "Well, let's get started then, have quite the journey ahead of us. Before we go please strip yourself of all personal items and clothing."

"Wha-what?" Nuffie asked, shocked.

"Your life here is over, so you're going to have to leave everything connected to your past here". Renzyl instructed. "That will include your staff, those clothes, what you are carrying..." Nuffie leaned back slightly as the demon bent forward, looking into the reflection created by the monk's spectacles. "You can keep the glasses though, don't need you stumbling about in my realm until I can get a 'proper' look at you. Now you heard me, strip down and let's go."

Nuffie swallowed hard as he watched the dragon continue to stare at him intently. Part of him wanted to run, even though he knew it would be a futile effort the chance to keep himself alive and in this world was quite tempting. Another part of him, however, was intrigued by Renzyl's offer. What did he mean by 'his realm'? What sort of adventure and knowledge was waiting for him when he crossed over to the other side? He dared not ruin such a chance with a foolhardy thing like trying to escape, especially when he made a deal with the creature and it would have been extremely dishonorable to run from it, even if it was made by a demon.

With a bit of reserve the fox undid his monk's garb, the stiff wind blowing through his exposed fur as he bared his upper body. There wasn't a hint of noise or reaction from the demon, who seemed to be content with watching him as he undid the belt that held on his hakama pants. "Um, do you mind giving me a bit of privacy?" Nuffie asked, feeling the heat of his blush on his skin as Renzyl chuckled.

Much to Nuffie's surprise the rubber-skinned dragon slowly turned around, his tail waving lazily about as he focused that glowing red gaze towards some birds on a nearby hill. With the prying eyes of his benefactor off of him he found it only slightly easier to undress fully, his russet fur glimmering slightly in the light of the slowly setting sun as he put his pants and then underwear next to his shirt. With his garments out of the way the rest was rather easy, sticking his walking staff into the ground and adorning it with his prayer beats. In a way it felt rather fitting, the small shrine he had unintentionally set up signaled his departure from the world much like any other grave would.

"Thank you for that." Nuffie said once he had finished, the dragon still not looking at him after he had finished.

"Thought I would spare you one last shred of modesty, since you are going to find that it is non-existent where we are going." Renzyl replied as he waved his hand out in the air, which began to shimmer and fold on itself. In a matter of mere seconds a black space appeared in the middle of the astral disturbance, Nuffie watching in awe as the tiny slit opened up until it created a small rift right in the middle of the air. "I would take my hand or tail if I was you, be a shame to lose you to the void right after rescuing you from a similar situation."

Nuffie gulped once more and grabbed Renzyl's outstretched hand, already feeling the ethereal pull of the rift against his body as the demon dragon slowly stepped forward into the blackness. The fox couldn't help but shut his eyes as the wall of blackness came towards him, feeling his fur stand on end as what felt like the gate of oblivion came to engulf him. Yet as he felt the chill of the trans-dimensional barrier touch him he felt a safety in the latex-covered paw that he held, guiding him through as a shiver passed through his body...

******************************************

"You can open your eyes now." The smooth voice of the demon said in his ear as the tingling sensation quickly faded away. Even though it felt like it took no time at all he felt as though he had been traveling for a long stretch, and when he opened his eyes that feeling was quickly confirmed. Above him was the cosmos, a starry sky unlike anything he had ever seen before. "Welcome to my realm, one of the Nexus points that connect the entirety of dimensional reality together. This is one of eight, together they form a complex network that connects not only planets but different dimensions as well. What you see above you is the raw shape of the universe, a very awe-inspiring thought, don't you think?"

All Nuffie could do was nod as his brain struggled to comprehend what he was seeing. No one on his home world would have ever fathomed such an expanse as what lay above him, and yet there he was with his jaw nearly hanging down to the ground. He probably would have continued to stand there and stare for hours except for a firm tug on his body, looking down to realize that he was still gripping onto the dragon's hand as he beckoned him forward.

As the naked fox began to walk forward he suddenly became aware of his other surroundings, finding himself on a slab of obsidian stone walking towards a rather lavish building in the distance with the starry backdrop seeming to envelop the area on all sides. "This particular area of the Nexus is filled with my raw power, normally I shape it into something more appealing but since our meeting was rather impromptu I decided to forgo the formality." Renzyl explained. "Whatever you do make sure you don't wander off, go too far out and you'll reintroduce yourself back to the fabric of reality in a rather... messy fashion."

Nuffie just gulped and nodded as he followed Renzyl towards the structure. As they walked by the fox quickly noticed that they were not alone; latex reptiles of multiple species were scattered about the grounds. Some of them appeared to be working, dressed in armor with weapons as they walked around, while others appeared to be just relaxing or goofing around. A few were engaged in far... lewder activities, the monk averting his eyes when he saw two nagas coiled around each other and again when three lizardmen decided to have a group make-out and grope session. What unnerved him the most however was that when he passed by them many seemed to stop what they were doing and look up at him, a hungry, predatory look in their eyes that caused him to move closer to the demon dragon as they approached the inside.

"Don't worry, they don't bite unless you want them too." Renzyl said with a smirk as they walked inside. "They're just not used to seeing an unconverted walking around the realm, their instincts kick in and gets them all riled up. Probably why I don't get many visitors around here."

Nuffie was only half-listening to the demon dragon at that point, his senses far too focused on the structures and people around him as he could feel his head spinning. He had just been transported to an alien world populated by alien creatures, and in the middle of it all he was being led around by a very large demon that was treating him like a host guest yet had demanded his complete subservience to him only a few minutes ago. More than once his vision went fuzzy, the sensations threatening to overwhelm him until that firm hand against his grounded him back to his new reality once more.

As they continued to pass by more and more of what Nuffie suspected were Renzyl's 'servants' his thoughts began to wax more philosophical. Did one creature, even a demon, need such a vast quantity of minions like he saw? While some of them did seem to be tasked to certain duties is appeared that many of them were just lounging about, laying on each other or playing games as they all turned their heads towards him. His eyes were continually drawn to them, not only were their forms exotic to the fox monk but the way they moved about fascinated him to no end. Just like outside he could sense a predatory hunger about them, like if Renzyl was not there then they would have easily been chasing them. Thankfully all they did was give him a second glance before returning to their previous activities, their shiny bodies adjusting to accommodate their stiffening members.

"There are so many..." Nuffie finally commented, causing the demon to chuckle.

"I guess you could call me a compulsive collector." Renzyl replied, petting a purple and black latex naga and causing the creature to shiver before continuing on. "I have those I need for my army, which is a story in itself, but I also enjoy being surrounded by beautiful, lustful creatures. The ones you see around here were hand-picked to serve me, both here and when I travel throughout the Nexus."

"Ah, here we are." Renzyl said suddenly as he led him to another room, seeing a lithe silver raptor sitting there in front of what looked like a stone pedestal filled with different colored crystals before he was beckoned towards them. "Nuffie, I would like to introduce you to Chrono, he will be helping you get a bit more acclimated to this life before we continue with your journey into your new life. Chrono, I want you to make sure that this guest has everything he needs, I want to make sure that he is as comfortable as possible before I collect him again."

For the first time since he got there the demon dragon let go of Nuffie's hand, a sudden feeling of emptiness filling the fox as he watched Renzyl leave. "Huh, didn't think he was picking up any new recruits today." Chrono said as he looked the former monk over with silver eyes that had a strange mirror quality to them, Nuffie resisting the urge to cover himself up when he saw himself in the reflective surface as the raptor circled around him. "Not bad, must have been in either a creative or charitable mood. In any case let's get you cleaned up and looking presentable."

Nuffie was about to protest when he felt himself get yanked behind the moving raptor, looking down to see a leash in the reptile's hands that seemed to connect to his neck. As he was forced to move forward his fingers went up to where the thin strip of gleaming material connected to him, his mouth opening slightly in shock as he felt the thick rubber of a collar around him. He hadn't even realized that it was on, his mind struggling to figure out when the demonic dragon had slipped it on him.

In the midst of his reminiscing he felt the pressure on his collar cease, the fox realizing that Chrono had taken him to an entirely different room in the building. "Wash up here, feel free to use whatever you want and I'll be back in an hour once I've made arrangements for your lodging." The raptor instructed briefly before turning and walking out the door before the fox could ask him any questions. With his guide gone Nuffie took stock of his surroundings, finding himself at the edge of a 'bath' that was almost the size of a small swimming pool. Wisps of heat and steam gliding along the surface of the crystal clear liquid, an enticing presence for the road-weary monk.

"At least I don't have to worry about my clothing getting wet..." Nuffie tried to muse as he slowly lowered his nude form into the water, the steam pulling away from him as his fur broke the surface of the water. He couldn't help but let out a small sigh of contentment as the warm liquid surrounded him, closing his eyes and letting the heat sink into his bones. He hadn't realized how much the stress of the day had weighed on him until he started to shed it, his nerves finally starting to relax since the first time that he had set foot on that accursed bridge. He didn't know how long he took to soak, idly swimming back and forth to let his mind settle a bit.

Once he had given himself a chance to fully relax he realized that a tray of glass jars had been put next to the bath, each one containing a different colored liquid in it. He swam over to them and looked them over, even unstopping a few and sniffing the contents. While some of them were flowery or fruity smelling others had unusual odors to them, smells he couldn't place as he put each one back onto the tray.

"Need a hand?" A familiar voice said next to him, nearly causing Nuffie to nearly jump out of the water as he saw the grinning demon with his feet in the water while watching him.

"Oh, thanks, I guess..." the fox replied nervously as he shifted over to where the demon sat, feeling his body shudder as though rubber-coated legs pressed against his body. "I thought you had things to tend to?"

"It turns out that my generals were taking care of everything, my presence was not needed after all." Renzyl said as he began to pour one of the oils "I sense that your thoughts are rather chaotic at the moment."

Nuffie nodded as the demon dragon took one of the bottles and poured a honey scented oil on the top of his head. "I just wonder about my old life, everything that I left behind when I joined with you." The fox commented. "I still don't regret my decision, but I wonder what's going to happen to me now."

"What's going to happen is that you will soon get everything you ever wanted out of life." Renzyl replied reassuringly in his deep, soothing voice, the rhythm of his words causing the fox's head to droop slightly in relaxation. "From what I have gathered in my short time with you is that we're very much alike; a near compulsion to see everything we can, trying to leave our mark on the worlds before we have to leave them, not to mention a thirst for the knowledge that is hidden just out of sight, waiting to be discovered."

"Yeah..." Nuffie replied, his eyelids fluttering as the demon poured more honeyed words into his ears and the scented oils into his fur. Everything that the dragon did relaxed him, from the hypnotic massaging of his fur to the way his latex toes ticked his sides. "I don't understand though... I already owe you my life and have willingly given myself... why are you still being... nice?"

The dragon chuckled and Nuffie could feel him push him out a bit before sliding down into the water behind him. "Exactly, yours is essence freely given." Nuffie let out a small gasp as those rubbery lips nibbed against his pointed ears, causing them to twitch slightly. "My soldiers and minions, they were collected in times of their greatest lust that I had amplified in order to convert them, which has amplified their power as well as their subservience. With you... you will give me a much sweeter type of energy, one that I wish to cultivate. As I mentioned before you will be given a great number of perks when you are given your new form, and in exchange your devotion and essence will pay me back a hundred fold."

Nuffie let out another groan as latex hands pressed down the fur of his chest as they went out into slightly deeper waters, feeling the dragon's chiseled muscles pressing against his back. Whatever cleaning procedure seemed to have been completed, the fox's fur smelt like a strange combination of honey, rubber, and an almost metallic odor as he was turned around to face the demon. "Still contemplating whether or not you made the right choice?" Renzyl asked as he wrapped his arms around the monk's waist.

Nuffie turned his head away slightly, feeling his body temperature rise even more then the heated water that surrounded them or the power that seemed to radiate from his host. "You have made such a generous offer, and I do not regret taking it." Nuffie confessed. "Please do not consider any doubts or concerns that I have as a slight against you, everything here is just so strange and fascinating. All at once I'm intrigued and fascinated at what you have here, but I guess it's in my nature to wonder what if things had gone differently..."

"Do not worry yourself, those thoughts are quite natural." Renzyl replied soothingly, and when Nuffie returned to face the demon dragon once more he found that their muzzles were close enough to touch one another. It was a strange feeling for the fox to be in the embrace of the strange creature, particularly since he didn't feel Renzyl breathing against him or his pulse anywhere against his body, save for his chest. Nuffie slowly put a hand up to the thick latex pectoral, his mouth opening slightly when he felt the slightest trace of a heartbeat there and nowhere else.

Renzyl decided to take advantage of the fox's surprised state and kiss him deeply, Nuffie's eyes going even wider as he felt the rubber press against his face. The fox's entire muzzle was sealed within the demon's, the slick latex suctioning to his mouth as he felt something thick press into his open maw. It took little time to figure out that it was Renzyl's tongue, the appendage exploring the inside of his mouth. All the fox monk could do was brace himself, though he quickly found the French kiss to be highly erotic as he tried to poke his own back to return the favor. As their tongues continued to twine around each other Nuffie felt those strong hands of the demon's begin to slide lower, grabbing and squeezing his naked backside as he felt the strange power that emanated from Renzyl begin to soak into his body...

"Master Renzyl." Both creatures suddenly heard, their kiss broken as Nuffie gasped for breath he didn't even realize he needed. On the edge of the bath was Chrono, tapping his foot as he held a stone tablet in one hand and two towels in the other. "I can prepare him the rest of the way if you would like to get ready for his proper conversion."

"Yes... thank you Chrono." Renzyl replied as he disengaged from the fox, swimming over and grabbing the towel before looking back at Nuffie. "I look forward to seeing you at your rebirth."

Once Renzyl had left Chrono called a still slightly shell-shocked Nuffie out of the bath as well, sniffing at him a bit before taking the other towel and drying him off. "Well, I can already see what he has in plan for you." Chrono said as he grabbed the lead of the collar once more, the fox letting out a small yelp as he was nearly dragged forward into another room.

"Hey!" Nuffie let slip out as he was pushed down into the chair, his hands going up to cover his mouth as the silver raptor looked back down at him. "Sorry, just... I can do things if you tell me."

"Master Renzyl is on a rather tight schedule at the moment." The raptor said as he handed Nuffie a rather binder filled with color samples. "Pick what colors and styles you want for your body, master Renzyl has given you a rare opportunity to choose some aspects of your new form to help get you more comfortable with it."

Nuffie just nodded as he started to flip through the pages, seeing all sorts of designs and patterns on them. "So... how did you come to be in his service?" He asked carefully as he leafed through the booklet.

"That... is a rather long story." Chrono replied with a sigh. "The short of it though was my best friend betrayed me, so I exchanged my soul and an eternity of service to him in exchange for revenge and reconciliation with my son. I've been by his side ever since."

"Oh..." Nuffie replied, looking down at the middle of the binder as he could hear a number of emotions in the rubber creature's voice. "I may be overstepping a bit to ask, but... do you ever regret your choice?"

Nuffie gulped slightly as Chrono turned and looked at him, those mirrored eyes directed straight at him. "If I ever had to make the choice again..." Chrono replied, his words firm, "I would choose to serve Master Renzyl without any hesitation whatsoever. The only thing that I hope for is that he will allow me to stay by his side forever... but enough about me, this is your day, did you make your choice yet?"

Nuffie nodded and handed the samples that he had chosen back to the raptor, who immediately went back to the stone tablet and pressed his fingers against the crystalline sheet that covered most of the top of it, which glowed for a second from his touch before it quickly faded away. "Good choices, I think you'll like what comes out." Chrono said as he beckoned him back up, this time leading from the back as the naked fox walked forward.

"Alright then, just remember to relax." Chrono instructed as he guided him through the hallways of the massive structure. "You may feel some odd sensations at first but don't fight them, just try to enjoy yourself as much as possible and everything else will fall into place. Ride the wave of pleasure, don't drown in it, otherwise you're going to miss out, alright? Any questions?"

Nuffie opened his mouth to speak, but by the time he could find the right words Chrono had opened the door to a large, arena-like setting. Rubber reptiles of all sorts sat in the viewing area that surrounded the main stage where Renzyl stood in the middle, those glowing red eyes staring directly at him as the murmuring of the crowd lessened to a soft hush.

"Welcome to the first moments of your new life." Chrono said as he closed the doors behind Nuffie.
