Star Fox: Reborn

Introduction and Important Information

(I do not own Star Fox in any way)

Now, I know there's a million Star Fox fan fictions out there (including a good deal of "inappropriate" ones), but they all revolve around Fox McCloud and Krystal and Falco and the Star Fox Team. --But of course! Why wouldn't they?

Star Fox Command ended in a variety of ways, but the generally accepted one is the Team getting back together and Fox and Krystal resuming their relationship. So you can go literally anywhere from there. But why not go into the future? Why not see what happens to the McCloud line in a hundred years? In one ending, Fox and Krystal have a son named Marcus. We can assume Marcus has kids. And his kids have kids. That brings us to a good question: How long can a family live up to its name? How long can the McClouds maintain the superhero escapades that made James and Fox famous? The truth is, maintaining heroics like that, especially after the first few generations, would be truly difficult. Especially in the assumed peace that ensued after Star Fox Command. So where's that leave the McCloud line? The Star Fox Team as a whole, actually?

I want to find out. I want to build a world in the Star Fox universe, along the Star Fox line, but about 150 years after Fox's adventures. WHAT?! NO FOX MCCLOUD?! Sorry. No. This will be all original characters. Locations, gadgets, weaponry...They'll all be similar. And who knows--Fox and the Team might still make an appearance.

Anyhow, This story will have some action, some romance, some humor--a bit of everything.

The main story follows 20 year old Cornerian Army Corporal Gray McCloud and his older brother, 30 year old Sergeant Dax McCloud. Dax and Gray are members of a special operations team within the Cornerian military. They are not free mercenaries-for-hire like the Star Fox Team was. Rather, they are left largely to their own devices most of the time, but are paid a military salary and can be shut down and controlled by the Cornerian Command. They DO go on mercenary missions like Star Fox, but there is a rigorous approval process, and much of their profit goes back to the Cornerian military. They live on the Cornerian Mothership--basically a supermassive Great Fox, housing a whole Division of the Cornerian military, rather than just a small Team. Being a Sergeant, Dax McCloud is given control of a six-person team consisting of himself, Gray, Cody Millett, Marcus Strafesk, Milani Glesseri, and Darco Lombardi. LOMBARDI? Yup! Falco's descendant is part of Gray and Dax's team. The others-- Cody Millett, Marcus Strafesk and Dax met at the Corernian Flight Academy. Milani Glesseri and Dax met on a mission years prior to the start of our story--Milani, being the attractive young fox she is (literally), and Dax have an unofficial, largely unannounced relationship. Darko Lombardi was paired with the McCloud brothers because the Cornerian War Council saw great potential in the team-up--it had been decades since a Lombardi had joined the Corernian military.

Being as many of the others are supporting characters, I'll only focus on three of these characters:

Dax McCloud is a dark brown fox with an angled face an muscular frame, a master sharpshooter, and a by-the-book soldier. He follows orders when they're given. He's a "Jump!"--"How high?!" kinda guy. Really strict, especially with his recent-graduate little brother, Gray. Dax is a hardened veteran and leader and does his best not to put anyone else in danger. He is fiercely defensive of his Team and brother, who he only refers to as "kid".

Gray McCloud is a steel-blue fox who bears a striking resemblance to Fox McCloud, both in attitude and appearance (albeit with a watered-down Krystal coloring) He is a tad slenderer and shorter, however. He is a recent graduate of the Corernian Flight Academy. He passed with flying colors through his whole time at the Academy; he joined at a young age (reason for that below). He is an ace pilot and (by his own decision) an entirely non-lethal fighter. His blaster merely stuns targets and he is a master of hand-to-hand combat and stealth. As a member of Dax's team, he doesn't get much opportunity to fly. He is cocky, immature, and has minimal field experience. He was sent on missions while at the Academy, but other than that, has only been on a few missions with Dax's Team. He is a guitarist and singer (skills he picked up on at a very young age)--known only to Darko (by accident, discussed in the story later on) and his brother, Dax.

Darko Lombardi is a 21-year-old red pheasant, and graduate of the Cornerian Flight Academy a year ahead of Gray. He is distant and snarky--sarcastic and a jokester. He does his best to lighten the mood but doesn't like being questioned or being the center of attention. He is mysterious, in a word. Like Falco generations prior, he is an ace pilot and excellent wingman. He is very supportive, once you gain his trust--no easy feat.

Other characters will be met along the way--perhaps Peppy's descendants? Slippy's?

Maybe, maybe.

So, no, this story isn't exactly canon to the Star Fox story. It's their descendants, mostly. So...

So, so, so...Let's get on with this, shall we? Prologue will be up soon.
