As the days pass, Jeovi is calmed by Jade's presence, the Psychic type's energy soothing to the mentally scarred Ninetales. Alex notices that since her capture, Jeovi seems to be recovering rather well considering the horror she's been through. Alex feels her pups growing stronger by the day, the heat in her belly giving away the breed of her offspring. As the months pass, she can feel her own body changing, the differences small at first, but growing more noticeable. Her hearing is more acute, and her balance is getting better instead of worse as is common with pregnant women. In addition she finds herself drawn away from the cool water of the lake in favor of lying in the sun for hours to warm her body. As the pregnancy progresses, other changes begin happening too.
Saki points out that Alex is beginning to get fiercer, her temper being lost easier than before. As her sister storms away on one such occasion, Saki makes a startling discovery.
"Alex, wait up." Saki comments, grabbing her sister by her hips and pulling her backwards, trying to remove the stretchy yoga pants Alex has taken to wearing for comfort. Alex growls in annoyance, Arkanon backing her up with a deep snarl of his own.
"You know sis, if you want to get in my pants so damn bad, all you need to do is ask. I thought that was made obvious when I joined in with you and Jade." Alex hisses her voice low and threatening despite the seriousness of her comment. Saki glares back at her.
"Shut up and drop your pants, I want to see something." Saki comments, distinctly aware of how her words could be taken. Alex shrugs and removes the pants, the black fabric pooling at her ankles as a sharp gasp sounds from Saki.
"Alex, don't be mad, but you have a tail." Saki whispers, her eyes wide and staring at the fluffy appendage sprouting from just above her little sister's shapely ass. As Alex turns to stare at her sister, the tail wags once on its own, giving its owner a clear view of the new growth.
"Huh, would ya lookit that. Guess humans evolve a bit themselves when they give birth to hybrids. I wonder if it will fall off or something after I give birth." Alex asks out loud to no one in particular. Saki shrugs herself, sitting on her hands to avoid playing with her sister's tail, now wagging quickly with the excited rambling of its owner. Arkanon smirks, the awkward smile giving a more frightening look to the Legendary Pokémon as he watches his mate wagging her tail.
As the weeks continue a parade of slow progress, Jeovi seems fully recovered from her ordeal, a smile almost always gracing her muzzle as she pads around the house, now as much a fixture of the building as the stove. Jade and Jeovi have gotten quite close, the Psychic type a great comfort and living security blanket for the previously broken fox as she still suffers through recurring nightmares about the hybrid Zoroark.
With Alex's pregnancy reaching the final days, Jeovi finds herself excited to welcome the girl's pups into the world, just as she did her own over two years ago. Alex herself has since grown a nice long fluffy tail, and pair of tiger striped ears, along with bracelets and anklets of tan fluff, giving her the appearance of an Arcanine fangirl. Saki has learned to steer clear of her sister's mouth when she's upset, as Alex has learned to fire various flame attacks when upset or protecting her pups. Saki and Jade have found that she's carrying three pups, though their genders and appearance remains a mystery. All Alex and Saki care about is that they're safe and healthy.
One evening, Saki and Alex are sitting on the couch, watching a news report about the most recent attack; another Lucario has been murdered in a gruesome fashion. Alex cuddles into her sister's arms, her breath tickling the fine hairs on the back of her sister's neck. She can feel the lives within her womb, the pups active during their final few days before meeting the outside world, and she sighs, resting her head in the curve of Saki's exposed neck. The raven haired beauty looks at her younger sister, her head turning just in time for her lips to be captured in a soft, yet seductive kiss, a moan rumbling deep in the auburn woman's throat a sign of her pleasure. Saki gently raises her head, breaking the kiss to lick at her sister's newly formed ears, the soft peach fuzz covered flesh sensitive to such actions. A low jet of steam escapes Alex's mouth as she sighs heavily with the action.
Saki giggles, looking longingly at her baby sister's reaction to her touch and wonders why they bothered fighting all those years as kids. As their eyes meet, Saki and Alex both couldn't be happier. As Saki stares into her sister's eyes, she notices that the normally bright orbs are now more canine in appearance, and have turned into a molten amber color with what appears to be a flame shaped pupil. Alex only smiles, gently licking her sister's neck playfully before jumping up from the sofa and running into her room to curl up next to her mate to sleep.
The following morning, Saki wakes to a crying noise outside her door. As she and Jade rise from their beds, they realize the sound is coming from Alex's room. Running into the room, they find the female on the ground, her legs spread wide and tongue hanging from her mouth panting in labor. Arkanon is standing next to her, a vicious snarl displayed on his lips as he guards his mate, only relaxing to lick at her as a gush of fluids burst from her cunt along with the head of the first pup. As Alex strains, more of the pup emerges, revealing a perfectly formed and healthy orange and tan Growlithe baby. Another wave of intense pain washes over Alex and she pushes again, this time expelling what appears to be a golden furred Growlithe pup with black stripes and a white tail. The second puppy appears to be having difficulty breathing, and Jade quickly brings it towards her, using some of her power to try and heal the pup. As green light surrounds the newborn, it barks loudly. Alex sighs in relief as her last pup is expelled from her body and the two orange and tan pups curl up around their mother happily, joined soon by their golden sibling. Arkanon nuzzles his mate happily, a deep growl sounding in his throat.
Alex and Arkanon spend the next couple weeks caring for their pups. Alex's body begins reverting to normal, her eyes and ears getting more humanoid, but still retaining some of the Arcanine traits, such as three stripes on the back of each ear, and the molten coloring of her eyes. Alex also notices that while her tail seems shorter, it refuses to fall off or completely vanish as she'd hoped. Alex and Arkanon are faced with a problem however, when it comes to giving their pups their vaccinations. The closest Pokémon center is the one where they took Jeovi, and since the Chansey's eerie warning, Alex refuses to take her babies to that place. Saki offers to drive Alex to the next town, having taken the driving course during the second month of Alex's pregnancy when she figured it might be wise to have a license in case of emergencies. Saki used her trainer's fund to buy a small car. Alex agrees and gathering her pups and her mate into the car and Saki takes them and Jeovi with her to the next town, entering the Pokémon center with a group of three snarling pups and a tired looking fox. The Nurse Joy in charge smiles adoringly at the pups before motioning to a Chansey to take them off to the vaccination machine. Alex tails the Chansey, not letting her pups out of sight as Arkanon can be heard growling from his ball.
The Nurse Joy turns to Saki, seeming like she wants to speak, but only opening and closing her mouth a few times before deciding now is not the time. Saki turns to the older woman, smiling at her as she calls to her assistant. Nurse Joy talks to her assistant for a few minutes, the young girl smiling at her; a three-legged Mightyena at her side, and takes a set of Pokéballs from her. As Nurse Joy turns to Saki, she hands over the balls.
"I've noticed the little pups you brought in aren't captured yet. I would suggest catching them so when and if they venture out on their own; other trainers don't try to steal them from you. My assistant tells me they've all had their shots and your sister is eager to get them home. Please take care; I hope to see you again soon." Nurse Joy comments as she bows, watching as Alex returns from the back room, her pups walking next to her and yipping softly, escorted by a Chansey.
Saki smiles at her sister and the pups, handing he girl the three Pokéballs and relaying Nurse Joy's message to them. Alex sighs, releasing Arkanon from his ball and having her mate watch as his offspring are captured and registered as her Pokémon. The Legendary Pokémon smiles with pride as his pups become members of his mate's team. As they go to exit the Center, a Growlithe walks up to them and speaks to Arkanon.
"So, that girl is your mate then, and those three were your pups?" He asks, earning a nod from the larger male. The little Growlithe seems to think something over before nodding to Arkanon, watching as they leave. Alex looks down at the little pup, walking away without making any sign that she's understood any part of the conversation.
The next few weeks pass by without any trouble obvious to the new family. Jeovi however, is plagued by recurring nightmares of Nameless tormenting her and her pups before reliving their deaths. During the day she seems lethargic, due in part to the fact that she's become an insomniac from fear of the nightmares. Saki notices when the Ninetales becomes jumpy at the slightest sounds and screams when the door slams shut.
"Jeovi, honey, what's wrong with you?" Saki asks, having taken advantage of the money from her last few trainer battles to buy the fox a translating collar. As Jeovi looks up at the elder sister, she sighs deeply.
"I've been having nightmares, when I sleep, my pups are alive again, but then that demonic hybrid comes and I watch their blood paint the ground in front of me. I don't like sleeping anymore because he's waiting for me. One of these days he'll come back to finish me off, I just know it." Jeovi whimpers softly, her eyes pouring tears of fear. Saki crouches down and holds the crying fox, whispering soothingly to her as she collapses again from exhaustion. Saki recalls her into her Pokéball and sets it on the dresser, hoping that at least in stasis mode she won't dream and just rest. As Saki turns a corner, she's met with the sight of her sister and Arkanon preparing for an outing. Their litter is contained in Pokéballs still in their room.
"Alex, I know you're my sister, and your pups are hybrids, and look like Pokémon, but I still must protest your parenting method of simply recalling your kids into Pokéballs instead of old fashioned babysitting. It's just wrong." Saki comments, smirking at her little sister as Alex looks up at her with innocent doe eyes.
"But they cry all the time, and I am sick of changing the sheets because a certain shiny brat can't stop shooting flames onto the bed. Until Conleth can control his fire breath I think it would be best to keep him in his ball. Besides, Cerberus and Layla will likely miss their brother." Alex comments, still bearing a burn on her arm from surprising her "golden boy" while he was sleeping. Arkanon smiles at his mate, looking shamed when Saki glares coldly at the large fire type male.
"Another thing I'd love to protest is your naming skills. Seriously, naming your son Cerberus." Saki complains before dodging to the side as Alex shoots a flame at her. Saki watches as Alex and Arkanon venture out into the night.
