November 17, 2007. 10:00 A.M Chapter 4

Two days after his ordeal with the Raccoons, Rob still thinks that what he had was a dream, but none of it added up. Why was the Government after him? Did he do something wrong or see too much in his years of service? The more he thought about it as he lay awake in bed, sometime in midmorning, he was beginning to think that this "dream" was reality. The main reason was how he went from hunting to being in a small white room to being back in his bed without him knowing when or how he got there. 10:30 started to roll by, and he had to be at work at 11:00, so he decided to get up, shower, and eat some eggs; then go to work. As he was making himself eggs, he looked out the window into his front yard and saw a Black SUV with two guys sitting in it across the street. When they saw him, they drove off. Rob went to a secret place in one of his drawers and grabbed is Colt .45 and an extra clip. When he got out into his truck, he pulled out his pride and joy. He spent nearly $3000 on it in Texas a few years back, and it could be broken down and hid under the bench seat of his truck. The gun was called the Steyer AUG, or "Bullpup". The British special forces use the Austrian made gun, and he fell in love with it when he saw it shoot online before he smuggled it into California. The gun shoots the standard Assault Rifle round, which is .223. He put it together and clicked the safety off, clicked past semi-auto, and on to full auto. He loaded the 30 round clip into the back of the gun, just how it was designed. The 22 inch barrel went all of the way back to nearly the butt of the gun, so it looks like it is only a 12 inch barrel or smaller. It also came standard with a small scope. The flat black finish adds the perfect touch to this bitchin' gun. After assembling his baby, he set off to work, his auto mechanic shop in town, about ten miles away.

About half way there, driving on a road on the side of a mountain, he could see a black SUV coming toward him about half a mile back. When Rob rounded a corner, he parked his truck behind a tree and grabbed his Bullpup. He stood about 100 feet from the road on a slope and took aim at the SUV that was bound to come around the bend at any second. The two suited men in the SUV never saw it coming. They were driving and then there were two shots taken. The first hit the passenger dead in the head. The second hit the driver in the chest and the SUV went off of the mountain. Rob could here the vehicle crunching down the mountain slope, a good 200 foot drop to the bottom. Rob ran over to look over the slope and out of some miracle the driver began to pull himself out of the destroyed automobile. He must have been wearing a bullet proof vest, and another easy shot would fix that. Rob could see the head of the driver at the bottom of the mountain, blood covered and badly cut. Once he was in the crosshairs, Rob pulled the trigger and saw the man's head drop.

A few minutes later he was at his work. He rounded a corner to go into the garage and stopped. He saw two men in black suits talking to Earl, the person who opens the shop every morning. Rob turned back around and started to head back to his truck, only to see another black SUV and two men in black suits looking in his truck. Without even thinking, Rob bolted out of the shop and took off into the small town. He went a ways and started walking. He saw a black SUV turn toward him in front of him. Rob tried to keep his cool, hand on the .45 in the holster. They stopped ten feet in front of him, and the passenger got out and pulled a gun. Before he had a chance, Rob pumped a round into his head, which whipped back from the force. Rob ran up to the SUV, passenger door still open, and shot the driver as he tried to pull out his gun. Rob hopped in and threw the cadaver into the street. He took off, not knowing where he was going. Almost out of instinct, he pulled out his cell phone and a card with a number on it. He dialed it and a familiar voice came to him.

"I don't know why, but I think I am supposed to call this number if I was in trouble, which I am!"

Rico was on the other end of the line, checking his location from the microscopic GPS tracking device they put on Rob before he left.

"Ok, help is on the way, it won't take more than five minutes."

"Good!"

Rob hung up the phone and looked behind him. Another black SUV turned around and started coming up on him, fast. Rob noticed and MP-5 right next to him on a small gun rack. He picked it up with one hand and opened up the window. He aimed at the tires of the SUV and shot, taking out the front two and destroying the engine. The SUV slowed to a complete stop. Just then he looked up to see a red light directly in front of him, and a lot of cars in the intersection. He broadsided another car, causing the airbags on his to deploy. He hit going about 40 MPH. When he got out, dazed and confused, he saw that what he hit was another Black SUV. Another SUV across the street produced four more men with MP-5s, and they started to shoot. Rob ducked behind his SUV and fired a few rounds toward them. He stayed there hoping help would arrive, firing off a few rounds to keep them at bay. But now he had to face and even bigger problem. He turned to see a helicopter flying about 50 feet off of the ground and spraying bullets in his direction. He just ducked down, and luckily the bullets missed. He heard a huge explosion and looked up to see where the helicopter once was, now a swirling ball of fire like the depths of hell itself. He followed a smoke trail to the source; a man with a RPG in his hands, still mounted and shocked at the size of the explosion. He was right across the street. The man then threw the RPG down and yelled:

"Rob McKinly! Come with me!"

Rob ran over to him and hopped in the van the man was driving. He found three other men armed with M4s in the back of the van. Still in shock from the accident and explosion, all Rob could do was give a little wave to them. They all just smiled and did a little wave back. Then one of them spoke.

"So, you believe us now?"

Rob turned back and was shocked even more. Sitting behind him were Rico, Bazi, and a fox which he did not recognize.

"Wow, when looked back a second ago I did not even realize that it was you. Well, I guess I should say thank you for helping me out, and, well, I guess I will join this organization."

"Great! Are the wife and kids back at the house?"

"No, they are at my wife's mom's house in Sacramento for the week."

"Oh, Ok. we will get them over here later then. For right now, we will take you to a small outpost where you can get your physical and minor background check. Then we will take you to the main Island, where you will become a full member."

"Sounds good, can't wait."

About twenty minutes later, they arrived at their destination; what appears to an old shack. Everyone but the driver gets out of the van. Rico goes up to a device that looks like a electrical outlet with a lock on it. Rico pulls out a key and opens the lock, then lifted the device which had a keyboard in it. Rico did some password and a elevator came from underground and stopped in the shack. The door opened and they stepped inside. The elevator was pretty big, and there was a pretty big man with an M4 guarding the place. He was in full uniform, which in this case was urban camo. Urban camo is the same as snow camo but with more grey and a lot less white. He had a black vest on with a bunch doodads, as well as a black belt with a lot of accessories. Even though Rob was once in the military, this guy seemed a bit creepy. It was almost like he didn't even blink. They went down a few stories and came out. There were several doors and another human guard in there. They went into the first door which turned out to be a kind of lobby. Rob went over to a map of the entire complex to get a feel of where he was. He read the map and it said that he was on floor 3 of 4, room 301. It also said that this room was for physicals and exams. Rico checked him in and Rob signed a few papers. Three minutes later, a doctor called him into the only other door that Rob could see. This door led into another hallway with several rooms. They went into the first one and performed the physical. They then went into another room where they asked Rob a few questions, and in about twenty minutes they were done. They went back up to the top and went back into the van.

Rob looked a little dumbfounded from the entire experience. To him, going into a small shack that turns out to be a multi-level complex underground is not an everyday experience, but neither is a raccoon talking to him. So as of now, Rob McKinly could expect anything to happen to him, and he could care less. Rob decided that he would just go with the flow of things and not protest. But Rob still had a question that was bothering him, so he decided to ask.

"So, Rico."

Rico's ears perked up in attention.

"How is it that you are talking to me and holding a gun and, well, being civilized and such?"

"Well, I am not supposed to tell you until you are in, but you are getting in anyway so it doesn't really matter. Our destination is a few hours away anyway. A few years ago, the founder of this organization stumbled across something while hiking up in Montana. At the time, he was only about twenty years old. He was a normal person, nothing special, but always had a fascination of one day leading a huge task force. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, but moved to Montana when he was 18 to get away from it all. His Dad was the leader of the Los Angeles S.W.A.T team, so his Dad was a huge influence on his dreams. Anyway, he stumbled upon something... something that is hard to describe. It was basically a portal of some sort, and being around it you could just feel the energy. This energy is like no other, like a thunderstorm, so powerful yet so calm and peaceful. He marked the spot on his GPS system and wondered what it was. Curiosity got the better of him and he touched the black swirling mass. Almost in an instant it was like he fell from the sky into our world, I guess you could call it, but only fell from about a foot high. He looked around to see a bunch of trees and mountains and such, same as his world. He marked this area on his GPS system, and found that it still worked fine, but instead of being on Earth it was on this new planet.

"He found a trail and started to walk on it. After about a day he came across a huge city right by the ocean, in this huge bay. He walked down there and found that there were no humans, but a huge variety of animals. He was surprised that they spoke English, and the writing was in English, but by now he basically felt how you feel right now, very scared and confused. Not only were they talking but they were very human like. He just went on walking through the streets. On the bad parts of town he saw crime; stabbing, shootings, burglary, beatings, Etc. On T.V he saw war between these creatures. They fought the same way as humans; using guns, explosives, jets. He was amazed, all of these creatures wore regular clothes, walked upright, drove cars that were the same size but modified to accommodate a certain species' needs, and all of the buildings had doors big enough for a seven foot bear, which he found to be the biggest creatures that he saw. Even the houses were the same size. He did not know what to do, and then he saw something that would change his life forever. He had always had a fascination for four different kinds of animals, one of which being raccoons. He saw a gang of different kinds of animals beating up a smaller raccoon. He walked over there, being the same size as the tallest one, a brown coyote. The coyote was about to say something when all of his years of martial arts classes finally paid off. John started by head kicking the coyote, knocking him out. He then saw a Doberman with a knife, so John kicked it out of his hand and got him with another kick to the abdomen, doubling him over. A puma that was farther away then pulled out a gun, so John got his out of his holster and pumped three rounds of 45 ACP into the puma's thick skull. The remaining members of the gang all ran, and John picked up the raccoon. The raccoon barely managed to talk, but said this: 'You dumb ass, now we have the cops after us!' 'Its Ok, I have a plan.' He put the injured 'coon on his shoulder and started running back to the portal. John put on a ski mask he had in his bag when he got around a corner. He climbed up a fire escape, knowing that travel by roof was a lot easier. He had not done any free running since he lived in L.A, but John got used to it very fast.

For the next thirty minutes, he traveled by rooftop all of the way to the end of town he came from. He then got down and started walking for a few hours until he got to the forest again. Once there, he put down the raccoon. The 'coon was a little lightheaded and worried.

'So why did you save me? You could have just left? And by the way, what are you?'

'I am a human, and where I live, I enjoy the presence of raccoons, that is why I saved you. What is your name?'

'Oh well, thank you. My name is Rico. You realize that they will be searching for us, right?'

'Yes, but they can't find us were we are going. By the way, my name is John.'

Going back to present times here, yes, if you are thinking that the first being to join this organization is me, it is. Anyway, we got to the portal by the next morning and he stopped. He told me what it was and to be prepared for what I was about to see. We went through, and I was a little shocked. When I got through, instead of being the normal 5'7" I was in my world, I was the same size I am now. Long story shorter, he took me to his house decided that he wanted to protect and have raccoons, foxes, German Shepherds, and border collies in this organization, because they were his favorite animals and he did not really care for anything else. He also wanted humans because he was used to them and he could get them in big numbers. He called up some low end, not popular scientists from both worlds to make equipment and in return they would live for free and get a lot of money. They worked for him and made two major bases, one on Earth and the other on my home turf, Bali. They are both identical and take up two big islands, one for the base and the other for living space. But Bali is much bigger; fourteen huge continents about the same size of Africa, some a little bigger or smaller. Over the next few years we have grown greatly in numbers and our technology is great, although we only use it for convenience and very seldom for fighting. He has also found a lot more portals and made a lot of secret small bases around the worlds. So that is the reason why we are civilized."

Rob looked kind of stunned, but then thought about something Rico said last time he saw him.

"So this is the task force that helps out a lot of lives?"

"Yeah, basically. After following John around for the past couple of years, I decided to make a team of my own. As a matter of fact, our team is going covering my hometown, the first place that John came across. Our team will consist of me, you, Bazi, this fox back here named Borden, the gentleman driving named Tony, and there is another raccoon named Phil hiking around somewhere. Also, we have another human named Carl who you will be meeting when you enlist. I will tell you who is doing what when we get you fully enlisted."

"Sounds good."

A few hours later they arrived at an airport, where they got onto a leer jet. From there they flew for another couple of hours over the ocean. Rob, was quiet the entire time, thinking about what was about to happen. He then saw an island, wait... two islands coming into view. They were both big, and still pretty far away. When they got to them, the pilot flew around them. On the smaller island, Rob saw a bunch of jets and buildings. On the bigger one, he saw an entire huge city with two parts. One was the main city; the other was a huge complex in an extinct volcano with a bunch of waterfalls and a lake in the middle. This part of the Island was pretty big, as was the volcano. No buildings were on the sides of the volcano, just trees. Everything was in the walls around the middle. Rico explained that it was the hospital and a recreation area. They landed on the military part of the island and taxied to a single story building, but Rob guessed that it was so much more. Sure enough, after entering the building they went into an elevator, into the vast unknown of his future.
