A Dreadful Encounter

Eagle still lies in wait in the hide out; just outside the base. The military is still searching the immediate area for him and maintaining patrols, he still has another days worth of food left.

***

I had one days rations left, and the army had slowed the searches. I figured it was safe to start my beacon and have Shirane, but before I did I decided to consult Mira on the situation. I laid my hands over my heart and closed my eyes, I let the cold slime creep over my body; like I did every night since I left the university. The one part of every day that was always good. Mira again came to me and the glowing radiance that followed her.

"Eagle? It's fairly early for you to be here. What seems to be the problem?"

"Mira, experience tells me that I'm safe right now, that I can get away, but I can't ignore the instinctive part of me that says I shouldn't go. Can you tell me what I should do?"

"Well, the last time you followed your experience; did it work out for you?"

"Yes."

"And instinct?"

"More or less. I mean it worked, but not the way I planned."

"What went wrong?"

"Someone found out who I was."

"Oh, well...has experience ever lead you astray?"

"Not yet, but the only times I ever had the choice, I chose instinct."

"Well, in my opinion you should try to go on experience, neither has failed you, but experience is still more predictable. But then again, why fix what isn't broken?"

"Hmm...yet again; you have proven yourself the better half."

"I didn't know that someone who wasn't still alive could be a better half."

"Well, I think you still count."

"I, am, in your head. So I guess you get to decide that."

I gave Mira a hug. I could feel her soft black fur through my fingers. I may have been in my own head, she may be dead, but I could still feel her. The same as I always did. She wasn't lost, I had her within me.

I woke again, in my secluded little hole. The pungent smell of my own sweat, blood and excrement filled the space. It was time to leave, and I was ready. I pressed a button on my arm mounted computer. A beacon to signal Shirane was activated just outside the door to the complex on the military base. The plan was that I would only have one place to escape to, so I could activate the signal and still leave it far away.

I waited for the time we allotted, 1 hour, and then I was to leave and run south of the base and make it to a road. Then walk 3 kilometers west and get picked up. I left my hole to head south. As soon as I stood up, I turned to be face to face with Sefan.

"Oh, you made a bad move."

"You're telling me?"

Andy moved from around a tree, he was pointing an M9 right at me.

"I want answers. Who are you?"

"I'm no one important."

"I want your name."

"Eagle."

"Bullshit! You stole his name, he was my friend and you ruined my memory of him! Now tell me your real name!"

"..." I let out a sigh. "I won't tell you. Either you torture it out of me or accept me as 'Eagle'. Take your pick."

It was Sefan who spoke next.

"I say we drag his sorry ass back to the base and have him killed. He isn't going to tell us anything valuable and he killed Tom. I don't need any other reasons."

With that I shot Sefan a vicious look. That rat bastard set me up. Did he make up that story about his mother? He must have noticed my reaction. He leaned in and whispered in my ear.

"It was all true, and he learned about his hit; it wasn't planned."

Then he stopped whispering

"Look at me like that again and I'll cut out your eyes you useless vile retch." He was almost sadistic with his tone. Whether it was an act or not I could not tell, but if it was; he was very convincing.

"I would like to see those hands get close enough." With that he raised a hand to hit me, I moved in toward him and got right up in his face. I was too close for him to strike me anywhere important. But I was lined right up with the pressure point just below his breastbone. One swift punch; and he was useless. I removed one of my pistols and pointed it at Andy, he wasn't going to shoot if Sefan was in between us.

In the distance I heard a noise, it sounded like a 'thwup' then a whirling whistle that got closer and closer

"I'm going to leave now, and you aren't going to follow me." Andy opened his mouth but I cut him off "Because I don't want to shoot you, and you don't want me to shoot your-" before I could finish my sentence an arrow came from my right, accompanied by the whistling I heard before, it his Sefan in the leg and he yelped out in pain. Then he passed out. It was surprisingly fast, the arrow had to be coated with something. I could still hear the whistling, so more arrows where inbound.

"Get to cover!" I hadn't even realized I broke character till after I had ordered Andy to safety. I dragged Sefan with me; and I took refuge behind a tree. Andy had retreated to; a some what; concealing rock.

"When I say move, run to the trap door!" I long since stopped caring about retaining the 'cold; heartless assassin' façade I had been keeping in Andy's presence. I heard another 'thwup' and I knew that whoever was shooting the bow had a vantage point. They wouldn't risk wasting arrows as covering fire if they were accurate. And they had to be, or they would have used a tranquillizer gun.

I saw a shadow slowly pass over the grass, it wasn't very dark, but it was large in the moonlight. "Damn, that was smart. Look high! Incoming!"

Sure enough, she had fired arrows up and they were coming straight down toward us. I did a rough calculation of where they would land, and I moved where I figured I was safe, a method I learned from Shirane; she told me that a lot of people were adapting the use of bows due to their ability to hit people without sufficient cover from aerial assaults. Unfortunately Andy did not have this training, he was trained by the military; and as such, reacted the way he would have been told to, he laid down on the ground and put his hands over his head. An arrow got him in the shoulder, the unidentified toxin filled his body quickly; and he too fell unconscious. I heard the crack of a stick; and I knew where my attacker was. I grabbed my pistols and fired two rounds of in that direction. Then I heard another 'thwup' but it came from behind me. The stick was a trap, but I didn't have time to react. The arrow caught me in the thigh. The searing pain was short lived, and I lost all feeling, all sense, all control. I passed out, I never even felt my body hit the ground.

***

I awoke in a room, no larger then a prison cell. The room had black walls; they were made from dry wall, and had been painted. I was bound to a chair; it was a wooden chair with armrests. The bonds were made from tanned leather. I was bonded at the wrists, waist, ankles and neck. The straps were unforgiving; and would not relinquish an inch of space to move with. A door directly across from me opened, and a female lynx stepped through. It was only at this time that I came to the realization that I was completely nude.

"You have 1 minute to get me out of this contraption, or I'm going to 'debone' you. You don't want to know how that works, or what it feels like."

"You are in no position to be making threats; now are you?"

"I'm going to be in a position to wring your scrawny neck when I get out of this thing."

"You'll be lucky to move when you get out of that thing."

It was so weird, the more we talked; the more hated our tones became. I was at a very clear disadvantage, but I was still confronting her in a way that was sure to earn me trouble. She walked closer to me, and then she leaned down so that we were face to face, inches away from each other.

"Also, you may want to shut that trap of yours, lest it get you into more shit then you're already in. By the way, I'm Jenny, and Tom was my father. He wasn't proud of my line of work, but then again, he didn't really appreciate what it entailed."

"So what exactly are you again?"

"A JTF2 interrogator."

"Shit."

"I captured you because I want answers out of you. Can you guess what question I want answered?"

"What time is it?"

"Try again."

"No, I was asking you. What time is it?"

"Time for you to tell me who hired you to kill my father!" Now she was yelling at me, right in front of my face. It felt good to know I was rattling her cage.

"Hey; hey; hey, if you can't talk to me in a calm; indoor voice, I'm not going to talk to you."

"Bet you think you're real funny don't you? Well funny guy, how would you like it if I gag you then torture you till you choke trying to tell me what I want to know?! As of now your choice is tell me, or fell what it's like to be turned into the 'chalet sauce' at Swiss chalet."

"Oh Jesus, thanks. I had that for dinner last week. At least now I know to avoid that-"

My smart remark was cut of by the sound of an open palm coming across my face.

"Hey! This is your fault you know that right? The guy that hired me was a back stabbing asshole. If you had just asked me what his name was instead of tying me up and threatening to mangle and torture me I would have told you, but instead you chose the 'ruff and tumble' approach. You caused yourself more trouble this way in more ways then one."

For the first time so far, she looked utterly shocked. She wasn't expecting me to give in easily, let alone without even any torture.

"You would have sold him out just like that?"

"Under normal circumstances I would die for my client's confidentiality, but that lousy mother fucker was going to have me captured, tortured, and killed. So if you want a name, all I need is a clean pair of cloths and a chance at a little pay back."

"What kind of payback?"

"I want to be the one to torture that bastard."

"No."

"No?"

"You heard me. I want his name so, I, can torture and kill him. You may have killed my father, but he was the ultimate cause. You were just doing your job, he passed out the money."

"Most of the people in my profession that hold grudges normally hold it against me. What makes you so different?"

She turned her head away from me.

"I...I know why you do it. I know what it's like to watch someone you don't know die, by your hand. I-"

Her eyes began to well up with tears. Her voice went higher and she started to shiver, she brought her arms up to her chest to cover herself. She was shielding herself from something, like she was afraid she was going to be hurt.

"I know what it's like to kill someone that has something so good, and doesn't deserve to die."

"I'm sorry-"

"I know you are."

"No, I mean; I'm sorry, I don't know what that last one feels like."

Now she looked me square in the eyes, she was furious.

"What the hell does that mean!?"

"I won't accept a contract unless someone can give me a reason why that person should die, and I mean a good one. Someone who kills someone in cold blood, that's a stretch. If they want me to kill someone like that, it had to be an outrageously brutal killing. I don't know if you knew this, but your father killed over 400 innocent people."

"Bullshit!"

"One of them was my father."

"I'll make you eat those words!"

With that she pulled a skinning knife out of a sheath and jammed it down into my forearm. I didn't move, and I didn't make a sound. Contrary to my reaction, it hurt like a bitch!

"You can't fix anything by stabbing me."

She was sobbing now. She was hurting, deep down. The old me would have wanted to know why, would have wanted to help. But that changed long ago, now it was a weakness, and I could exploit it.

"Let me go, I'll give you his name and leave, I want nothing more and nothing less. For what it's worth I respected your father, I knew him. He was a good man; he just made a few mistakes."

She lifted the knife out of my arm and cut the leather binding my left arm. Then she put the knife in my hand and left. Once I had my neck and arms free she returned with cloths. She looked me up once, and then left again. When I had my legs free I got dressed, a pair of jeans; a white T-shirt and a blue dress shirt that went over it, I left the buttons undone. I put the knife in a belt that she had left with the jeans; and I left the room. She was outside the room waiting for me, but she wasn't looking at the door and she didn't hear me. I had a perfect chance to kill her; but something told me I shouldn't.

"Sefan. His name is Sefan." She looked up from the floor but by the time she turned to look at me I was gone. I wouldn't hear or see her again for another year.

***

When I got back to my apartment; I turned on my laptop. My apartment was about 10 minutes away from the university dorms, but I was always in disguise outside around this area so that wasn't a problem. I checked in on Kara and Carlos. I wasn't expecting to see what I saw. Kara was tending to a very sickly looking Carlos. He must have been on some heavy meds all he was saying was "That horrid stench." I checked a few things and broke a few laws, and within 10 minutes I had Carlos' medical records. The last thing he was diagnosed with was a mental illness, but that didn't make sense, Carlos had been of sound body and mind after my 'death'. Nothing sever had happened after that, so a mental illness just didn't fit. I had to figure out what was wrong, what was REALLY wrong. So I called Shirane.

"Hey, Shirane, it's me. Check our purged life insurance files and look for anyone who was a wolf, doctor, preferably retired before he died."

"Hmm...I'll just do a quick check here..." there was a long pause. I have patience but this was unbelievable.

"Shirane..."

"Yes?"

"I kind of need that, now."

"You take at least 2 weeks to research a target before you go after them, why do you need this alias now?"

"Because I need to check up on a friend, and my old alias has been discovered. The military was watching me."

"Well, you're in luck. Just got one from the top of the pile. Joseph Anderson. 79, died last year. He has the same colors as you so all you need is to cover your scars and maybe get some dye to dull the white of your fur."

"Thank you very much. I owe you yet again."

After I became an Assassin I needed a way to create and lose aliases in a moments notice. So me and Shirane opened a small; private insurance business. When someone died, we added their file to the 'purged' section. In other words, they were no longer insured but we still needed to keep their information. We had set all the purged life insurance policies aside, because if a life insurance policy was purged, it meant that the person died. And that meant an identity that was easily stolen.

"You're welcome, and you don't owe me anything."

"How soon can you get Saul to send me the fake papers?"

"Within the next 10 hours."

Heh, I love leaving out little pieces of information. Ya, Shirane Hired Saul before she hired me, he used to do his work for the guy I killed. He couldn't say he was pleased with what I was doing, but having experience with my kind of position; he was sympathetic. He had spent some time as a secret service agent; he made fake IDs, passports, credit cards. What ever they needed; or he wanted. In order to do his job, he had to disappear for a few years. In order to do my job, I had to disappear forever. He became a guide for me.

"Alright; thanks again, and give Saul my best regards."

"Will do. Take care Eagle."

Just as I hung up I heard a knock on my door. This was very unusual because the only people who knew I lived here where Shirane and Saul, it was purchased under a false name, in cash, and he paid rent on time, also in cash. I checked the peep hole, and I nearly shit myself when I did. Right out side my door was Kara! I grabbed a pull over sweater with a large hood and put it on. I pulled the hood up and over my face, then I looked down at the floor as I opened the door.

"May I help you?"

"I'm here to ask for your help."

"Help with what?"

"My friend is very sick, the medication the doctors put him on isn't working and he needs a new prescription, but his health insurance won't cover the new meds. I'm going door to door hoping to raise money."

Oh, if only she could have seen how ironically funny this was, underneath my hood I was actually smiling, I couldn't help it.

"Please step in."

Yes, I am fully aware at this point that that was THE dumbest thing I could have said, done or even considered. But I couldn't think straight, I was to busy trying to suppress the fits of laughter that would surely take hold if I wasn't concentrating as hard as I was. I reached into one of my cabinets and collected about 2 thousand dollars. I hadn't fully processed what I had actually done till I gave her the money.

"Oh my! Thank you so much, this is so generous!"

She jumped at me and wrapped her arms around my neck, dragging me to the ground. The hood I was wearing fell down and my head was no longer concealed.

"Can I get you're..."

She saw me, that was it, she saw me. From this point on I had two choices. One choice meant that I would be losing everything I attained, I would lose my purpose. But the other meant that I would be ruining Kara, I would be toying with her mind and altering her perception to a point where she would most likely lose her mind. Or would she, would I even have a chance, would she see right through it and go tell others.

"...I...I-I...sss...a...you..."

He eyes started to well up in tears, my options just dried up, I had one choice now.

"...were dead..."

"You need to stop letting your dreams take control of you, take control of your dreams. I'm dead, stop dreaming about me and let me go." As I was saying it I was injecting her with a sedative I can only describe as an over-powered elephant tranquillizer. And I gave her one and a half time normal dose, when she woke up; she was going to be 2 thousand dollars richer and have a head ache big enough to make her forget her own name.

***

"You dumb son of a bitch."

I was having dinner with a 'business' partner at Denny's, me and him both worked together on...a mutual project. But after we started the project we became good friends. He was a fox, but he was entirely orange. If that wasn't strange enough he had nine tails. I don't know how it happened to be so, he never told me and I never asked, but there was no way you couldn't notice it.

"I know, I know. I think I actually should have killed myself. It may have been the better option after all."

"So let me get this straight, you drugged her, brought her back to her own house, left her two THOUSAND dollars, and you still didn't get any."

"Shut up. I don't do that kind of bullshit."

"Hey I'm just saying, you got boned. Or rather, you didn't"

He smirked at me and cocked his head. Sarcastic bastard.

"I told you, I'm celibate. And even if I wasn't, I'm not going to take advantage of someone, let alone someone I care about."

"I wasn't being serious, I think you would know me a little better by now. "

"Ya ya, I know. What are we doing this Friday anyway?"

"I'm going out with Rebecca, what are you doing?"

"Guess I'm going to go check up on Kara and Carlos."

"Oh well there's another brilliant plan."

"Fine Jesse, you think of a better plan. I still care about my friends, I need to make sure they are ok."

"But you still want them all to think you're dead, and you drug them to keep them from remembering you if they see you. Ya, you're like every body's big brother."

He didn't sound very sarcastic, but I knew Jesse well enough to know that that was sarcastic.

"Point taken. I haven't seen Rebecca, what does she look like anyway?"

"She's a fox."

"And..."

"She's got golden brown fur, mostly, her belly fur is white. She dyed the tips of her ears a light blue."

"Better..."

"What more do you want?"

"Size, age, personality."

"She's our height, about 30 years old, and it's kind of hard to quickly describe someone's personality."

"True. Guess I'll have to meet her then."

"Over my dead body, last time I saw you anywhere near a couple you nearly brought them to tears thinking they were going to 'hold each other in their arms while they slowly died.'"

"Hey, that was one time!"

"I'm still not letting you near her."

"Why?"

"..."

"Please."

"Fine; you can meet her, but if you tell her one thing that might scare her; I won't hesitate to stab you."

"It wouldn't be the first time I got stabbed this week."

At this we both chuckled a little, I still had some gauss around my arm from the last time I felt cold steel invade my body. We were still finishing our food when a large bear came in to the diner. He was wearing a large sweater and black baggy jeans. He took out a Walther PPK and pointed it at the teller, the same otter that served Saul and James about a year ago. He must have been around sixteen now. He was surprisingly relaxed for a guy with a gun to his nose, he slowly reached for the money in the register. I looked back at Jesse, he had a smug grin on his face.

"You aren't thinking of doing what I think you are, are you?"

"Of course I am."

"Damn it, why do you always have to be a hero?"

"Because it's part of my moral code."

"Ya, mine too."

We both reached for our sides, he pulled out to semi-auto 9mm custom M9s and I pulled out my .50 Desert Eagle. It was the gun I carried when I was walking the streets, I big weapon scared people, a small weapon was concealable; and in the right hands; lethal. But I rarely killed people one the streets, that's why I carried the .50, it deterred people from picking a fight with me.

"I want all the money in this bag."

He heaved a large knap sack on the counter, the otter was looking him right in the eye, but a year of training and experience told me he was watching us, I could tell from his body posture and the way he was positioning his head to look at us out of his peripheral vision. Me and Jesse pulled up next to the bear, he still didn't see us, I was on his right leaning my back against the counter. Jesse was standing straight on his left.

"What cha' doin?'"

When I said it, the bear jump and pulled his gun back towards himself, I grabbed his gun with my left hand and I put my .50 to his face with my right. Jesse came up from behind him and put both of his guns to the bear's kidneys.

"I think you better give me your gun, cut your loses and run."

"I would do what he says, he's crazy."

"Insane, I can't get the damned screaming out of my head. Can your death bring me silence?"

His eyes went wide, and his pupils went narrow.

"Gun, now!"

He dropped his gun, his hands were shaking.

"Now run, and don't let me see you trying this bullshit again, or I might just kill you."

He didn't waste any time sprinting out of that restaurant. And down the ally in between Denny's and an abandoned building.

"Look at that big bastard run."

It was the otter who spoke. Me and Jesse both looked at him in shock. He had a huge smile on his face.

"Man you guys were quite stealthy there, I must say that was a good show. But I could have dealt with him, you didn't have to stick your necks out for me.

"So you were going to deal with him how?"

He put his left hand on his hip and brought his right hand across to meet his left. He pulled up with his right hand fast and drew a 24 inch Katana, then he brought his right and left hand together, grabbing the bottom of the handle, his right hand up at the hilt.

"Well, I was planning on using this."

"Ya, that'll work against a guy with a gun."

"Hey now Jesse, maybe if he was quick and scared him first. Get a jump on him and cut of his arm."

"Not before he got a nice new piercing, about the size of a dime."

"Well, this sword was my dad's, and it was free. I didn't have to buy anything. Besides if you buy a gun, you also have to buy bullets, and if you run out, you're dead."

"And you think a guy 2 feet from you is going to miss?"

"Good point."

"Well, he certainly wasn't going to be shooting anyone. He left his safety on."

A wide smile crept across my face, that kid was really observance. But I could hear Mira in the back of my head. 'I swear, if you drag this nice kid into the same crap you do...The next time you dream about me you'll be up to your ears in shit!'

"Alright, Jesus woman calm yourself."

It took me 3 seconds before I realized I said that out loud.

"You ok there Eagle?"

"...Ah, ya; I'm fine."

"The voices getting to you?"

He was joking around, but he was spot on. Mira was starting to talk to me when I was awake, I could clearly hear her, like in my dreams, but I was fully awake. At the time I didn't know whether I actually was insane or if I was just given some weird blessing.

The otter on the counter gave me a strange look, like he was confused and trying to figure out a word scramble. Then he looked somewhat enlightened, but shocked. He smiled at me and with a totally straight face, and having never seen me before he said.

"Tell Mira I said hi."

I felt my heart sink into my foot, I thought I was going to black out then and there. Jesse only learned about Mira a few weeks ago. After I gathered up my shattered grip on reality, I turned to the otter, who had a smug look on his face, and I wasted no time pointing my .50 straight at his big nose.

"Who the fuck; are you!?"

"Whoa, Eagle, put the gun down. He's just a kid."

"I said, who the fuck; are you!?"

He still had his Katana out; with a rather large smirk on his face, he tapped the hilt rather hard on the counter. A large explosion of smoke emanated from the counter. I never flinched, but the cloud of smoke masked his escape.

"Who the hell was that?"

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out."

***

Back at my apartment I was lying down in bed, I again laid my hands on my chest and waited to feel my heart beat stop, as it often did when I went to my dream land; my afterlife, my heaven. Mira was before me, but this time I was held firmly in place. The black shadow that was the floor, had binding tentacles, they wrapped around my arms and legs, leaving me immobile.

"So, is this for your protection, or your pleasure."

"The latter."

"Why don't we ever wear cloths when I come here after twelve?"

"Because that hinders our 'activities'."

She slowly ran her fingers through the fur on my chest, our bodies less then an inch apart. She nipped at my neck, the sharp sensations brought chills through my body.

"So who was that guy that was at Denny's?"

"A classmate. We both studied some dark arts together."

"Dark arts?"

"This little realm in your head, putting myself here is an example of one such art."

She brought herself right to me, we were pressed against each other. Even here I could feel her warmth.

"Let me guess, reading my mind was another one?"

"Yep!"

She dragged her claws over my sides, sending sharp throbbing jolts of pleasure through me.

"So that's how you always knew what I was thinking. Wait, how did he know you were in my head?"

"Because I'm in your head! My mind is here, so when he tried to read your mind he was reading both our minds. When he heard me saying your name he was probably really confused. But when he saw you thinking about me, he knew who we both were."

By now her hands were down to the inside of my thighs, the soft pressure from her claws was unrelenting, torturous and delightful all at the same time. We were about to kiss when all of a sudden she pulled away terribly fast.

"Oh sweet Jesus, wake up someone's coming!"

"Shit!"

"You're not waking up yet, try harder!"

"Smack me with something; that should do it!"

"How about this?"

She was holding what could only be described as a giant spiked rowing oar. She wound up an cracked me across the face with it. The pain was immense, I yelled out in agony, and I woke up. But my nightmare had only begun. I got up and walked to the door, still wrestling with how Mira knew that someone was coming. I looked out the peep hole and saw a sight that was all too familiar, Kara's face.

She knocked on the door, again.

"Hello, is anyone home?"

I was mentally going through all the things I did wrong last time, I wanted to make sure I didn't get put in the same position as last time. Mostly because I didn't like drugging me friends, but also because I was out of tranquillizer. I thought I had all the bases covered, I was opening the door; had my hood up, I wasn't going to let her in. I was going to give her money, it wouldn't be too much. I had it all planned, but things didn't turn out that way.

As soon as my door opened enough to look at her she was pointing a gun at my head. I pulled back in time to narrowly dodge a bullet.

"Jesus!"

"Don't move!"

"Ok. I'm cool with no one moving here."

"Who are you?!"

She sounded like me, fuck it was scary. That otter must have been either a really good actor, or he knew I wouldn't shoot him without a damn good reason, because I was ready to piss myself. I had no adequate defense, and she had an extremely large gun. Then it hit me, no one who wants to kill someone carries a large gun if they know their target doesn't have body armor. She wanted to intimidate me.

"Said the woman with the oversized pea shooter."

"Are you mocking me?!"

Now I was worried, that was the same look I got from the lynx. And she stabbed me in the arm, replace knife with gun, and arm with...ah...leg. Leg?

"Ahhhh! My leg!"

"Let me try this again. Who are you?!"

"Why the hell did you shoot me?"

I was on the ground, she got me in the knee, I wasn't going anywhere now, except maybe the hospital. They knew me there though, so I was fucked.

"Don't try fucking with me, assassin. Who are you and why the hell did you steal my best friends life?!"

Andy, you asshole. I made a mental note to make sure I got him back for this one day.

"You really want to know who I am?"

"Yes!"

"I'm your best friend."

"Shut up!"

She was crying. I hated doing this to her, but I had to mentally wound her, then I could get an advantage and disarm her.

"Why, is it too hard to accept that I'm Eagle? You're best friend in university. The one you sent to his grave?"

"SHUT UP!"

She screamed it at me, it was very loud, but the room was sound proof. No one but me and Kara were going to hear her scream.

"Are you going to kill me again? Come on, put on in my head, right through my face. Make me look as mangled as I did the first time! Do it! DO IT!"

"FUCK!"

She twisted the gun around in her hand, putting it on herself. I leapt at her, grabbed the gun just in time to move the gun to the right. She missed shooting herself in the head by one inch. One small, measly, inch. I took the gun out of her hand and threw it to the far wall. She was forced up against the wall, right next to the door.

"Listen to me! You go tell Andy that if he sends one more person after me, experienced or not, and I will kill them. Run, puppet. Go tell your master."

She managed a nod, through he muffled sobs. I pulled her from the wall, and pushed her out the door, and then I closed the door and started packing. I had to move in under 2 hours. I packed as much stuff as I could, then I grabbed enough money to pay my rent and headed for the main offices. I gave the land lord my rent money, with a two hundred dollar bonus. Then I ran to my car. I headed for Saul's house, I needed to stay somewhere and Shirane's small apartment barely had enough room for her. I was hoping beyond all hope that Kara and Carlos were ok, but I was still angry at Andy. He almost cost me my life, for the second time in the past week.
