My New Life

Part 6: Responses, Lapses and Retributions

Serah came into my quarters on time, wearing an expensive dress that's almost sheer yet tantalizing enough to let me imagine what it sheathed...and it has me rather tight in my pants but I keep myself under control as long she's my guest for the evening...barely...

"Good evening, Nathan, do you like what I'm wearing?" Serah purred quietly, a large heart-stopping smile on her face.

My heart felt like someone had punched it to lightspeed and smashed the controls before leaving, no doubt there's a trail of stunned males along the way here, and my body's reaction isn't helping, and given that my tastes fall on the tall, strong, furry, busty and feline category isn't helping either, but I manage to keep my voice even, barely, "Good evening, Serah, glad you could make it on time."

"This is something that I wouldn't want to miss, Nathan." She replied, smiling that heart-stopping smile of hers.

We got through dinner without much fuss but it was pretty hard for me to stay focused on the food, given the way how her dress shows off her best features, I tried to clear my mind but thoughts of being buried between those two mountainous mounds of flesh was difficult to push aside and if I didn't know better, I'd say that Whitestar's been giving tips...on how to give me a major heart attack!

Serah went to the bathroom after finishing, as I cleaned up the remains of our dinner, I didn't notice Serah quietly returning, the only warning I got was a pair of furry muscular arms wrapping around my chest and two large breasts pressing on my back, "That was a great dinner, Nathan, but whatever you have in mind for dessert, don't bother; I have something better in mind, one we could share, just the two of us...in bed," she purred into my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

My body positively screaming for release then and there but before I could say anything, she turns me around and plants a solid kiss on my lips, I automatically kiss back, my arms keeping her close; of course, lung capacity is also a factor when comes to kissing, and my lungs are blaring me to get some air but Serah took care of that decision for me as she broke off the kiss and guides my hands to the shoulders of her dress, "Help me undress, please?" she quietly asked me.

I happily oblige as she also begins to undress me of my formal attire, beginning with the coat... we remember that night as a blur of utter passion and love shared between two individuals.

The next morning, ship time not planetary, I found myself slowly waking up, warmly wrapped in a massive furry blanket, I had only looked up slightly when I belatedly realized that I'd pillowed my head against Serah's well padded chest, then I remembered last night's activities and smiled how perfectly it felt when we made love last night, my heart and gut are in agreement, Serah's definitely my soul mate and a life-mate, as I was about to fall back into the deep folds of slumber, I was rudely interrupted by the loud insistent beeping of my bedside comm unit.

I grumble lightly as I reach over Serah, having forgotten to move the unit last night, I punch the answer button and the viewscreen came to life as Lt. Safire's face came into focus, I growl out, "This had better be good, Lt."

Her eyes widened as she saw me and Serah wrapped around each other in bed, grinned broadly before forcing her features back to neutral but her eyes shone with amusement, "Sir, I just picked up a priority alpha message from the Enterprise, sir and it reads, I quote, 'Nathan! Get your ass back to Raksha on the double! The Imps have backtracked us! Hurry!' Sir, what does that mean?"

I immediately knew what Clancy meant by that message...and I didn't like it one bit, I look up and began issuing orders, "Lt., inform Lt. Com. Eisen to reassemble the fleet; second, have Flight Ops prep all three Robotech squadrons and inform the other carriers to do the same as well as loading ground support munitions for the rest of the fighters; third, have all our Panthers make ready their Mechs, configured for medium and short ranges, Marines at the ready on board their transports, ready to support the militia, or its equivalent; fourth, have the fleet load first-strike weapons into their tubes, Mk.7s and Tomahawks, supported by long-range Quantum Torpedoes and Photon Torpedoes, followed by long-range Ultra Smasher broadsides from the battleships covering the approach of the fleet...and bring the fleet to Condition Blue-3. Get to it, Lt!"

She responds with a curt "Aye, sir!" and breaks the connection, leaving me to my worried thoughts.

Serah, since I had to reach over her to receive my call, sleepily nuzzles me; I nuzzle back but without much enthusiasm, apparently seeing the worried look on my face, she looked at me quizzically then looked up and over my shoulder, a small grin on her muzzle. Puzzled, I turn around and came nose-to-breast with Whitestar's ample bosom and hir rather broad grin, which died quickly at the look on my face, no doubt hir empathetic abilities are picking up what I'm feeling right now...

"Nathan, is something the matter?"

Bingo...

"Yeah, there is...I just received a priority alpha message from the Enterprise, an Imperial fleet is currently attacking Raksha, and somehow they managed to bypass our defense line..."

Whitestar's eyes widen in horror just as I felt Serah's muscles tense with both anger and fear.

Looking back at her, I say, "Don't worry, I'm taking the 15th back to Raksha right away."

She murmured a 'thank you' into my ear as she bear-hugs me, we break up quickly and got into our uniforms, except I slip on a pilot's flight suit and my Hazard armor on top of that, then I tuck a more faceted and sharply angled helmet, decorated with a roaring lion in a star field background, under my left arm and went to the bridge with both Whitestar and Serah in tow.

As the turbolift climbed up the bridge tower, Serah and Whitestar kept looking at me repeatedly as the turbolift ascended up to the bridge level, I blurt out, "What? Why do you two keep looking at me every now and then?"

Serah answer clarified things, "We're wondering why you're wearing a flight suit instead of a ship uniform."

"Oh," I answer back, "That's easy! I'm leading seven fighter groups down to the planet to secure a LZ."

"But what about the..."

"You and Whitestar will remain up here with the 15th while I lead our ground forces to sweep the cities clear of Imperial ground forces with our Valkyrie squadrons and Battlemech units."

"Valkyrie? Battlemechs?" Both ask simultaneously.

I simply smile back and answer cryptically, "You'll see, my dears, you'll see."

The turbolift stopped at the bridge level and automatically opened its doors to the side, at the same time a force field flickered off as its sensors indicated that the bridge is not critically damaged in any way; we step out of the lift and onto the bridge proper, Whitestar taking hir station at Tactical, Serah taking the XO's station half a level lower to the captain's command chair, which I took as I left my helmet in a helmet rack by the turbolift as I passed it by, Eisen completed the command handover by shouting out, "Captain on the bridge!"

And I respond with a curt "As you were." I then raise my voice to its command level, "Nav, plot the fastest course back to the Raksha system you can think of...and hurry! Helm, full power to the mains and ready all FTL systems! Tactical, bring the 15th to Alpha level battle stations! Flight Ops, ready all fighters for magnum launch the second we exit jump transit! Weaps, ready all weapons for combat, long-range torpedoes and energy weapons ready to engage enemy targets as they bear and as they come into range! Defense, raise shields, ready point-defense systems and defensive counter-measures! Intel, I need constant updates on both the enemy's space and ground units as our sensors detect them...and by the way, inform our Marine troops to ready their Scimitar Hovertank units as well, I forgot to include them for combat ops when I first received the message from the Enterprise. Comm, see if you can punch a message through to Raksha Command, at the same time, send a hyperburst transmission to the Enterprise informing them of our ETA and our plan of action also see if you can get anything about their current status and situation...and patch me through to the entire battle group, I have an important announcement to make...and it involves Raksha..."

It took only a few moments for Lt. Sefire to link the Lex's 1MC to the rest of the battle group's own 1MC systems, "You're patched in, sir."

I clear my throat and made my announcement, "Attention all hands, this is Commodore Nathan speaking, in the next few minutes, we will be jumping back to the Raksha system to reinforce its defense forces and to assist with containment of all hostile forces in the area. Now I'm saying reinforce because I just received word from the Enterprise that an Imperial battle group had somehow bypassed our defensive line here and made it all the way to Raksha but because of a emergency transmission by her captain, we wouldn't have found out about the bypassed battle group until it was too late, as it is, all we have to go on is that the Imperial battle group is composed of four Carrack cruisers, one Victory Mk.2 Star Destroyer, two Nebulon-B frigates with 10 ATATs, 24 ATSTs and 30 ATPTs; I intend to lead our Valkyrie squadrons as the first strike wave to reinforce and relieve the Rakshani militia or its equivalent, closely followed by our jump capable Battlemech, Hovertank, Cyclone and Rapid Deployment units; the second strike wave will be comprise of our non-jump capable Battlemechs, armor, battlesuit infantry and standard infantry units; our third wave will be comprised of our medical, technical and engineering crews, to be deployed once the situation on the ground has stabilized; our other fighter squadrons will engage any enemy fighters as they are encountered, bombers and heavy fighters will provide close air support as necessary, augmenting our dedicated CAS fighters, once the ground situation is stabilized, our bombers and heavy fighters capable of carrying our heavy anti-ship torpedoes will assist in ferrying down supplies and materials to affected areas.

That is all for now, in five minutes we will go to maximum warp, I intend to let Raksha's gravity well drag us out of warp, allowing us to get the drop on the Imperial forces before they even have the chance to even blink. Man your stations! The Imps are about to learn that attacking our home worlds are going to cost them big time...Commodore Nathan, out!"

I could feel the eyes of everyone on the bridge looking at me, I make my next command, my voice as cold as liquid hydrogen, "Let's head for Raksha, troops, we got some major Imperial butt to kick..."

As one they answer, "YES SIR!"

As one the entire 15th turn in place, the ships without warp drives readied their slipstream drives and synchronized them with the warp drive-equipped ones, their shields raised and weapons readied for instant action.

Up on the Lexington's bridge, the tension slowly thickened as each ship quickly synced with each other and readied their warp and slip drives...

"Sir, all ships report readiness," shouted Lt. Safire.

"Roger that," I respond, "inform them that I intend to use the synchronal-jump maneuver. Helm, give me command of our jump system."

"Aye, sir!"

Both respond simultaneously, the wolf-morph at the helm tapping a series of buttons and switches as he reroutes the FTL controls to my command chair.

Two control panels, each with a throttle-style control lever, deploy from the sides of my command chair and up onto the chair's arms, they link together at the middle forming a command console around my chair, I grasp both control levers as I finish punching in a series of commands, the console beeping in confirmation to my commands, then I shout out, "All hands, brace for synchronal-jump maneuvers on my mark, get to your jump stations and brace for some major shake ups in...ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, slip-drive powering up, two, one, Mark! Engage Synchronal Jump!"

All across the entire 15th, all 67 warships simultaneously jumped, willing to risk a very risky FTL jump maneuver to save those whom they have vowed to protect...

Raksha geo-polar orbit, the Victory Mk.2 Star Destroyer, Prosecutor, and its TIEs stand guard over their charges, the six Carrack cruisers carrying the ATATs, ATSTs, ATPTs, speeder bikes and stormtroopers for the ground operations, the ships they crippled or destroyed in orbit were barely able to fight back, all but one which was able to destroy four of the seven escorting frigates, then lost their sister ship, Destructor, when a starship of unknown design and origin suddenly appeared right next to her and tore her apart with a massive salvo of energy weapons of a design never seen before as well as torpedoes of a kind never encountered, four of those torpedoes had struck and tore apart her hull like it was soft cheese, her shields never had the chance to be raised as a blue torpedo arced in front of the command tower and strikes the bridge, ripping the whole tower to shreds in seconds, followed up by another energy salvo which destroyed her, its crew never had the chance to escape, never had the chance to launch its TIEs, then it sped off to linking up with the other ship, which indicated it allegiance.

Both ships came to a stop next to each other and docked, the new arrival imposing itself between the Imperial fleet and the other ship just as a smaller ship separated from underneath and sped away, several TIEs attempted to attack but several fast high-maneuverability missiles leap out from several launchers and cut the attempt short, then two torpedoes arced out from the ship and went straight for one of the Carracks, several TIEs sortied to intercept but were too late as the massive missiles struck their target, destroying it in an instant, at the same time, the Prosecutor's crew detect a powerful transmission that easily broke through their comm-jamming.

Several hours had already passed since that and both sides consolidated their positions in space but with the Imperials have already begun to deploy their ground forces; the naval officers wondering why it was taking their reinforcements so long, little did they know that they would never arrive...

The counter ran down to zero as the warp drives of the Sovereign-, Nebula-, and Defiant-classes detected Raksha's gravitational influence and instantly engaged the safety cut-outs, the hyper-synchronal data-link connecting the slip-drive equipped ships also engaging their safety drop-out protocols as the entire 15th drops out lightspeed on top of Raksha and in a position relatively above the Imperial fleet.

Seconds after reversion, the heavy ships launched a massive salvo of Tomahawks and Mk. 7 antimatter torpedoes, closely followed by an equally large volley of Quantum and Photon Torpedoes but within both salvoes are twenty Star Flare 8 EMP missiles each, all targeted at the Victory, I intend to capture the Star Destroyer and hand it over to the Rakshani as a trophy ship, a sort of backstop for the lacking Night Fang destroyers, a ship dedicated to protecting Raksha from intrusions like this ever again, albeit temporarily.

The Tomahawks and Mk.7s struck with unerring accuracy, the shields of the Carracks and Victory unable to withstand the awesome onslaught of antimatter tipped missiles, the frigates only took three direct hits each before succumbing, the other missiles meant for them rediverting and targeted their secondary targets, the Carrack cruisers, which were still off-loading their troops and mechs, the torpedoes proximity sensors detected that they were in an optimal position to maximize the damage of their antimatter warheads and triggers the warhead, the antimatter warheads exploding with such force that the overlapping shockwaves caught several planet-bound transports and slammed them against the side of their motherships, causing collision and explosion damage to them.

The Vic's and Carracks' crew are still attempting to recover from the attack when the second wave of Quantum Torpedoes struck but the Vic's crew couldn't react due to the effects of the EMP missiles that had hit them in the midst of the first wave, their critical systems already disrupted, the second wave totally crippling and disabling the entire ship, its crew could only watch helplessly as the Carracks they were to protect are ripped to pieces by the swarm of Quantum Torpedoes.

Without warning, two squads of fully armed and armored marines materialized on the bridge, the stormtrooper guards cut down before they could even react by armor-piercing rounds; all this I saw through the troops' helmet cams as they quickly secured the bridge, engineering, the armory, gunnery decks, life support and the main computer, as soon as the marines secure the enemy ship, I hand command of the fleet to Serah and Whitestar's capable paws.

I took the turbolift down to the flight deck where the three VF19X Stellar Guardian valkyrie-class fighter squadrons stood ready on their catapult alignment pads, their pilots already in their cockpits, waiting for me to lead them once again.

I smile lightly as I ascend the boarding ladder to Star Warrior, my personal Robotech fighter, Star Hunter's sister fighter but unlike Star Hunter, Star Warrior comes with a set of combat augmentation packs, one for close range, one for medium range and one for long range; similar to the Strike/Impulse's battle packs but unlike their battle packs, I have no limit to my power supply due to Star Warrior's unique power plant combination of both nuclear and Reflex systems which also provides a fighter of her class with deep-space capability like a detachable dorsal FTL pod.

Given the high probability of close range combat, I had my crew chief attach Blade Storm, the close range battle pack, along with the dual rapid-fire short-barreled energy rifles from the secondary weapons armory in place of the usual RF Smasher cannon with integral short-range Plasma cannon, to the dorsal section of Star Warrior's fuselage, on the outer flanks of the legs/engines and on the arm gauntlets; the dual sword and booster pack, secondary close quarter weapons pod and reflex missile launcher, and tritium battle shields reinforced with quantum armor capable of deflecting tachyon-grade energy weapons and direct missile strikes with two built-in laser blades respectively, the two energy rifles are mounted on the shoulders/ventral fuselage via two special mountings that also act as back-up weapons when I'm fighting close quarters or when I need to scout around a corner, I can poke the rifle around the corner and view through the its scopes.

I slip on the essential link to the fighter's Reflex core, the helmet; essentially a cross between a neural-scanner/reader and neural-feedback helmet, it allows me to move the Valkyrie like it was the extension of my body as well as allowing the pilot to more or less feel with the fighter's sensors, allowing for fine-tuned manipulation of objects smaller than a sewer pipe or unstable debris, it is this link that make the Valkyrie so versatile, the ability to move like a 55 ft flesh-and-blood person clad in heavy duty armor, the ability to adjust to any form of terrain or environment and the ability to fight as either starfighter, hovercraft or giant-sized heavy infantry, made the Valkyrie-class of fighter craft one of the most powerful starfighter in the Confed Space Forces arsenal but due to the exotic nature of its core components limited it from completely dominating the Confed TOE, in hindsight however, just as well the lack of variety in fighter craft could have severely gone against us if we had faced an enemy who could neutralize the capabilities of Robotechnology.

My alignment pad silently slid into place in front of the catapult, the accelerator locking into place at the front of the pod with a solid 'thump', the mag-con blast-shield comes on as I push the throttle to the max, I give a thumbs-up to the flight director, who salutes back and thumbs the launch button, catapulting me from the Lex's flight deck at over 800 kph. I bank left just in case my drives fail for some reason and circled the Lex at a distance of 800 klicks, all three squadrons forming up in short order.

They follow me in a wing-over down to the planet, as the other VF19 squadrons from the other carriers linking up us just after reentry above the capital, they peeled off to cover the RDP infantry, armor and Battlemech dropzones, I direct Hunting Pride squadron and the other VF19 squadrons to secure the out-lying areas of the capital city, distracting the Imperial forces while I slip in quietly on my own.

Transforming to Battloid, I draw the two short-barreled energy rifles from my shoulders, then my sensors detect four ATSTs and six ATPTs two blocks down and on a side street to the right, noting the lack of any form of detection, I quickly thread through the damaged buildings and rubble; peeking around the corners as I came closer to the enemy units, I sprint to the next intersection and skid behind the Imperials on my unit's side, already firing both rifles as I skid to a stop, destroying all ten of them with two shots apiece, simultaneously firing at the stormtroopers supporting them with my head-mounted phasers, set to high-speed cycle.

It was then that I realize that there were friendly militia, emerging from cover, who cheers at me upon seeing my fighter's Confed insignia; I unload two high-gain comm-packs from my fighter's leg storage compartments and left orders for them to establish contact with Confed ground forces for designation, resupply and reinforcement.

In the meantime, I carefully make my way to Serah's family estate when my sensors detected several concentrations of both weapons fire and enemy units, remembering that the design of their estate is still military in nature and given the long experience of Serah's father, odds were that the estate's walls and towers still have hidden weapons systems and defensive armaments as well as several armories at strategic locations and powerful communications towers and sensors, no doubt they've detected the arrival of the 15th and the destruction of the enemy fleet so they're still trying to hold out.

I spot the approach of four ATATs supported by six ATST and eight ATPTs, I knew they weren't going to hold out much longer under that onslaught, locking the rifles back to their mountings, I draw both Dragon Blade swords, extending from their compact form, from their back pack mountings and deployed the arm battle shields to battle position, took a deep breath to calm myself...and charged out, rifles and head phasers armed and ready to fire, Dragon Blades at the ready...

Since I charged from a building behind the Imperials but within the line-of-sight of the defenders, with the overwhelming stomping noise of the ATATs covering my own approach, the Imperials never see me coming...until one of the ATPTs made a left-hand turn to cover the rear...only to see me charging and begin firing its twin laser cannons, the pilot missing in surprise.

But before he could correct his aim, I leap and crush the little walker under my mecha's feet, slashing downward on both sides, cleaving two ATSTs right down the middle, the disruptive energy field around the hyper-conductive Crystalium-Mytrycite alloy blazing a brilliant silver-white, the blades easily cutting through their armor like a hot knife through cold butter, the Imperials just beginning to react to my presence as two of the ATATs turned to face me but I never gave any of them the chance to get a lock on me as I used both feet and pack boosters to get to within point-blank range, where ATATs are notoriously incapable of defending.

Not wasting a second, I hack and slash with extreme precision, not a single movement wasted as I combined both ranged fire and blade attacks in perfect synchronity, ignoring the stormtroopers as I prioritized with the heavy equipment, primarily the ATATs with their heavy weapons and troop-carrying capacity while taking damage in the process, interposing myself between enemy fire and the estate defenders.

As I finished dealing with them, I turned my attention to the remaining ATSTs, ATPTs and mobile artillery, by then however, my fighter is starting to look the worse for wear, given how furiously I was fighting and how much damage I absorbed.

My damage indication panel is showing critical armor levels at my chest, arms and upper legs as well as my arm shields; not only that my shields are severely depleted, realizing that I've reached the end of my rope, I resign myself to go down fighting when, without warning, eight Scimitar Hovertanks in tank configuration arrive from the flanks, mechamorphing to Battloid as they engage the Imperials in close combat, ably supported by two Mad Cat IIIs armed with Swarm LRM ground-effects munitions, to finishing off the rest within ten minutes.

I finally allow myself to relax as the last of the Imperials are finished off, relaxing my tight grip on the controls as I make contact with the rest of my forces who had secured the city whilst I was busy with the Imperials here as well as the Lexington regarding the ground situation, clearing in the support teams for beam down along with the necessary supplies.

I fold my Dragon Blades back into their compact position and slide them back into the back pack, then I flare my jets for several seconds to transform into Guardian configuration, a hybrid between Fighter and Battloid configuration but essentially a hovercraft on all counts and the configuration that's best suited for urban warfare due to its capability for high-speed maneuvers even in an urban environ, tilting down from the waist, I rest the Guardian's nose on the ground and leapt out off the cockpit, my helmet left on the seat.

Leaving the Hovertank Battloids and Mad Cat IIIs to secure the area just as two troop carriers came into view, landing thrusters flaring, escorted by three heavy capacity runabouts and one Leo which landed with the rest; the carriers disgorge three platoons of Marines, the runabout crews begin off-loading their cargoes of food, water and medical supplies and out of the Leo are Serah, Whitestar and Darkcloud, all of whom came running at me and giving me a group hug attack while Darkcloud wraps hirself around both my legs, Whitestar and Serah wrapping themselves in front and behind me, then I saw the glint of a sniper's scope...

Without thinking about it, I simply shift my weight backwards and fell on top of Serah, the energy beam passing close enough to scorch some fur between Whitestar's ears but with little harm done to anyone, then the M29 grenade launcher in my free right hand fires, the 25mm FAE round detonating in the midst of the room I had aimed at, incinerating the Imperial sniper there; at the same time, two of the Hovertanks fired their right-arm mount gatling ERLL, turning that section of the building into molten slag, I link up to the comm channel used by the tankers, yelling out, "CEASE FIRE!" as I got up from the furry tangle, helping my mates and daughter get back on their feet, the tankers instantly cease firing.

I began issuing orders to the infantry, spreading them out and securing the buildings with direct or indirect LOS (line-of-site) to the estate, in the meantime, the girls and I made our way to the estate's battle-scarred main gate, the combination of solid tritanium gates and force field barrier split down the middle and quietly slid into their recesses whilst shutting down, then furs began to emerge, bearing out both the wounded and dead, I stop, calling on the comm-net for medics and some help from the troops, mostly Kilrathi since most of the humans in my fleet don't have enough muscle mass to carry the big Rakshani without help, Serah's father being those amongst the walking wounded.

She rushes over to him while I stay back for a bit, my practiced eye noting that he's taken some hard hits but nothing serious, then I notice that there are non-combatants amongst them, one of them being an elderly female Rakshani whose eyes shone with the energy for someone much younger, she turns and made eye contact with me...

Without thinking about it, I automatically made a complex gesture with my arms and hands whilst maintaining eye contact, she grins broadly and gestures back, a happy look on her face, then I blank-out for some reason, the back of my mind bothering me for some reason but something made me concentrate on Serah and her father who were discussing something in low tones, they both looked at me at one point but only for a moment, then continued their discussion, her younger brother came up to me and gave me a massive hug, bursting into tears at the same time.

I pat him gently in the back, knowing intimately what first-time combat could do to those who have never seen combat before, for us veterans, this is usually a good sign on the rookies' part, indicating the strength of their character and of their emotional capacity, those who did not break down are more of a danger rather than an asset, usually they tend to end up as either murderous psychos or raging lunatics, sometimes even ending as a petty tyrant, all of which tend to end up as bloody smears on the pavement.

I gave him some encouragement, then gently handed him to one of the medics, a female Rakshani in the white-and-silver armor of a medic, she gently lead him off to one of the runabouts to get some rest as well as getting 'debriefed' by a Confed counselor who'll talk him through what he felt and what he saw during the battle but I knew he'll be alright, the comforting I gave him will help him rebound from his ordeal, Serah gestured for me to come over, I easily move over the rubble between us, as I approach her, I didn't notice a reinforcement bar sticking out from the pavement and promptly tripped over it, Serah easily catching me, however, my head landed in an awkward location, namely between Serah's breasts but she didn't seem to mind, in fact she held me tighter, causing me to sink deeper into her cleavage, 'course if I had a tail, I'd be twitching it back and forth excitedly.

It turned out that Serah's father wanted to thank me for arriving just as I did on Star Warrior, they were running low on power and ammunition and were taking heavy fire for the Imperial SPHA-Ts when I emerged out of nowhere and attacked the Imperials with my blades, the attack took the pressure off them long enough to regroup and reorganize.

They had also kept the infantry at bay so that I could concentrate on the heavies, witnessing the heavy fire I absorbed as I constantly kept myself in between them and the Imperials and the obscene amount of damage my Battloid took before reinforcements arrived to relieve me, also he showed extreme interest regarding our Valkyrie combat units but I suggested that he get treated first then we could discuss to our hearts' content back at his estate, what he left unstated that we'll also be discussing mine and Serah's future together but somehow I knew we were meant to be together.

The next two days, however, was spent by the entire 15th in rescue and recovery as well as assisting in demolitions and repairs, the heavy work made easier due to the fact that all of the 15th's Battlemech and Valkyrie forces are already on the planet, the flexibility of the Valkyrie units meant that unstable rubble could be safely move by them; the heavy weight and power of Confed Battlemechs meant that they're the most suited in working in unstable areas and for structural demotion work with their hands and feet without need for explosives; the IndustrialMechs, on the other hand/paw, especially the Construction-, Engineer-, Repair-, Mining-, and Forestrymech being the most useful and sought-after, besides those are the only IndustrialMechs we have brought along anyway...

To be continued
