Chapter XI, Rough Passage

(Please note, I'm having a bout of Writers block, I promise longer chapters soon)

Sibuna the jackal felt like he would vomit, the ships constant rocking made him seasick. He had scaled great mountains, survived harsh deserts and fought off more enemies then he cared to remember, but whenever he was on water he felt like he would expel his intestines through his mouth.

But his mind drifted to more urgent matters, such as the wolf... he had yet to learn her name, but she could hardly be blamed, After all who would be vary talkative after being almost raped, killed then dragged onto a ship bound to who knows where...

At the moment she stood a few feet from him, she had managed to cover her naked body with a bit of spare cloth. Sibuna found his eyes locked upon the wolf.

It was a nasty shock awakening upon the Ice runner, the last memories she had was passing out, then waking up in a small cot naked as the day she was born, it had been the Jackal who had saved her, but when she first awoke she was confused, disoriented and scared.

But much to her relief the Jackal had not taken advantage of her in any way. She had him to thank for saving her from the rape & riot in Blackhook, but she was still understandable terrified of the huge warrior, he stood at least a head above the average denizen of her home, and was nearly twice as muscular. A nasty scar was clearly visible from his broad left shoulder that ran down too his lower breast, it stood out like an angry reddish pink gash the spilt his ebony black fur...

But he seemed unlike the tales of murderous savages that were whispered in taverns and back alleys; his moody green eyes held no malice or cruelty, his deep gravely voice seemed to hold no ill will or spite.

In any case she did not feel imperiled near the warrior. She did watch him carefully though.

Sibuna was absolutely sick to his stomach, he ran to the railing and expelled his bellies content into the sea, this was the sixth time on the voyage he had done so.

"Hah, sixth time mate" the captain laughed as he walked behind the jackal and slapped him on the back, a few more chunks of half digested food were spat from Sibuna's muzzle.

"By chance where are we..." Sibuna asked hoping they were close to Culand by now.

The captain grinned at him "Still on da gold coast mate,"

Sibuna hung his head over the railing, how he hated Sailing...

Night had fallen in the gold coast, an hour sooner then Blackhook did, Nauil sat upon a small barrel next too the Jackal, he seemed in no mood to eat, he clutched his stomach and pierced his lips shut.

The wolf had been worried that he may be sick, but another sailor had told her he was merely seasick. She listened to him groan with each rock of the ship, she felt a touch of sympathy for him, he looked so much like a child at the moment. Of course he was far too large to be a child.

"So..." Nauil looked down at the Barbarian who still clutched his belly "I must ask, what is your name?" the barbarian asked.

"N-Nauil..." she stuttered, her shy nature preventing her from revealing much.

"My name is Sibuna..." the jackal said through clenched teeth.

The ship hit a big wave and the ship rocked hard, the Jackal bolted up and charged to the nearest rail. As he vomited she made a shy smile while his back was turned, "Sibuna... what an odd name..."

The jackal was unaware of her stare "Nauil... pretty nam... Ohh god!" he vomited hard, a little chum came into his nasal passage.

The jackal was absolutely miserable; he hated the sea with every fiber of his being.

"Storm Coming!" a sailor called from behind him

Great... He thought as he looked to the sky and saw the billowing black clouds. Tonight was going to suck... he felt an odd sensation across his back, slim fingers rested gently upon his fur...

"S-Sibuna... Are you alright?" the wolf girl asked... perhaps it would not be so bad after all...

Asot the trader was worried, since the time he could walk he had been on ships, he had been a captain since he was 21 summers. He was now 34 an impressive age to continue working, he knew better then most when danger loomed, even now many of the other crewmen could feel it.

"...I want the rigging tied down as soon as possible," the concern in his voice echoing throughout the crewmen...

The Icerunner rocked in the waves, the storm made the ship swing from side to side.

Sibuna sat on his cot; he still clutched his belly, the wolf girl sat next to him gently holding his shoulder.

"...Why are you helping me?" Sibuna asked.

Nauil looked at him for a moment, she honestly did not know, sure she felt indebted to him, but it felt for lack of better words... different.

"You look so helpless,"

Sibuna just stared at her, Nauil became worried she may have offended him.

"Really?" The jackal said with a wide grin, he still clutched hi belly "If I didn't know better I'd say your warm for me,"

Nauil became pink in the face, the jackal grinned at her "and I must say I'm flattered that such a lovely lass such as you likes me,"

Nauil was left speechless she stared at the jackal, Sibuna became worried, perhaps he had offended her in some way.

The captain interrupted before anything could be said "We're gonna haftta dock in Whiteport, the storms too powerful..."
