Ok, don't take this too serious. This was one of my assignment in class: Write an American Indian mythical story about how things are in nature. Comments and critics are greatly appreciated. Also, if you guys like the concept of the story not the story, can tell me to rewrite because I wrote this in 2 hours :P So it's pretty sketchy. Thanks again!

One day, Porcupine was riding on the back of Elephant in the jungle. The two were best friends and they helped each other out one way or another. Elephant usually protected Porcupine from danger with his massive body while Porcupine's sense of humor entertained Elephant. They roamed around the jungle for fun, until they encountered the Monkey Clan above them.

"Those monkeys are trouble" said Porcupine "We should move on".

"Agreed" replied Elephant.

One of the Monkeys above heard Porcupine had insulted their clan. It spread the word to every member of their clan and the news upset every one of them. They all shouted and screamed crazily and one of them hung down to the two with one arm holding the branch. It said:

"Do you know what does that mean? Your profanity to our people?" asked the Monkey.

"What profanity?" Elephant protested.

"Liar! Liar! Liar!" the monkey shouted. Then he climbed up and announced to all of his members.

"These disgusting creatures have affronted our kind" it stared down to the two "We shall teach them a lesson of their lives!"

All of the Monkeys turned their attention to the couple below, with wood splinters in their hands. Porcupine immediately slid down on Elephant's trunk and retreated underneath his gray friend.

Seconds after the leader of the clan-the one who talked to the two- shouted its battle cry, Elephants started to feel the immense pain all over his body as rain of sharp splinters poured onto him. Elephants began to run off as he could not handle the pain. Porcupine found hard time trying to catch up with his enormous friend. Sooner or later, Elephant forgot his little friend underneath him and Porcupine was left in the splinter rain.

The monkey cheered and celebrated as the one had fled while one was covered in splinters, which to be considered dead. They returned to what they were doing and left the poured Porcupine laid there, rotting. Hours later, Elephant didn't even come back to look for his friend

Night time had settled and the forest was only filled with nightly reveler. On the bushes of where the most recent splinter rain the monkey had given, there was something wiggling. Something looked like a tuff of spines, was moving.

It was Porcupine, and he was alive.

"Good gracious" he said to himself "Look at all of these...sharp weird-looking thing!"

He tried to touched it with his feet and the pain was unforgivable. Immediately he thought, this was a pretty good idea to protect himself. So from that day on, Porcupine could stand up and defend on his own.
