Finally the next installment chapter is here and I am exhausted.

Unfortunately if you haven't read my journal I will not be back for three weeks as I will be traveling to the UK this weekend for vacation! :3 So please enjoy this and have fun!

please comment, I love all of your words dearly and I take them to heart :)

Vibrant pink rose pedals flooded his vision.

Thousands fell; raining at a slow constant speed that made him feel like the world he was in was a beautiful peaceful heaven. Where was he? He stood on a cream bricked road with tree's that bore the same colored roses that fell all around him, lining the road closely together and ending with a bright blue light at the end, causing him to squint hard at the intruding brightness. The wind around his body was slow and steady but it brushed by him at a cooled pace, making the freshness of it nice on his goose-bumped skin.

Kevin looked up at the tree's, watching the pedals fall one by one with the wind and carried ever so blissfully down to the road, watching with a content closeness. How did he get here? All he could remember was being hit on the head in Clarissa's apartment and his son standing four feet away screaming for his dad.

His heart squeezed tight at the sudden vision that flooded his memory. Skylar! His son was left alone with goons and probably scared, why the hell was he here? He has to get his son back! Skylar needs his father to be there for him. It didn't matter how beautiful this place was, Kevin needed to rescue his son!

But where exactly is here?

Kevin looked in all directions and noticed nothing different about the scenery, all he could make out passed the falling pedals was the blue light on both ends of the road. What the hell is going on?

"Kevin...?"

He turned and felt his entire soul escape his body like water seeping through a crack. The air around them quickened and nearly blew him off his balance but she remained tall and strong with her long hair blowing behind her back and the clear white dress flowing along with it. The image of her was beautiful, something Kevin missed for so long and just seeing her in front of him physically was enough to make him forget everything that went wrong in his life. Not many people have ever done that to him, only a certain selected few.

"Emily..." He choked out softly, his mouth gaping open a little like a boy who'd just seen the biggest lollipop in the shop. His eyes were wide but the wind only made them dry, which forced his eyes to water a little.

She smiled and shifted her weight which allowed Kevin to actually notice the dress she wore was the dress she walked down the aisle of their wedding. It brought back every amazing image of her again in his mind, "Hey." She spoke softly, her voice still the same as before she died that Kevin nearly forgot all about it until now.

"How...This...No..." He stumbled on his words but Emily only giggled the laugh Kevin always loved about her.

"I don't have much time, hon." She spoke quickly but at a pace that Kevin was able to keep up with.

Don't have time!? No, Kevin didn't want her to go! Not again! "No, please don't leave me," He reached out and allowed the dry eyes to water even more. Or maybe they were real ones... "I don't want you to! It isn't fair!"

"Kevin--." She spoke but Kevin took the steps between them to get close and feel the heat from her.

"No, I won't let you go! I needed you for so long, Emily, I am lost without you." He grabbed her right hand, which rewarded him a smile from her lips.

After they locked gazes for a brief moment she brought her left hand up to his cheek, which nearly forced a sob from his throat. "Kevin, you need to protect Skylar..."

Oh god, Skylar! The sudden reminder of his son in danger brought a huge wave of guilt over Kevin. "I'm sorry," Kevin responded quickly, "I tried, I didn't mean to let him out of my watch, Emily I'm so sorry! He's in danger and it's my fault... I should have kept him close to me the entire time!"

"Shhh..." She placed her pale finger to Kevin's lips and silenced his sobs, his reaction surprised from the interruption and the smile on her face. Why is she smiling? "Sky is safe, hon. He isn't in any danger right now."

What? How does she know this? The image of Skylar screaming for his Dad once again haunted his memory and brought another sob to escape his lips.

"Kevin, you need to listen to me," She insisted while he continued to cry his agony towards her, which brought her own face to tears as well, "You have to destroy the Gateways."

Destroy the Gateways? What the hell was that supposed to mean!?

She continued, "There are two Gateways, in order to save Earth you have to destroy one of them. To do that you have to either destroy the enemies Gateway or..." She cut herself off after her throat tightened. But Kevin soon followed where she was going.

"Destroy...Skylar...?" The wind picked up and Kevin was able to withstand this force as he looked hard into Emily's eyes. "You want me to kill our son...?"

She shook her head, "No," She said through a dry throat, "You just have to destroy the Gateway he possesses."

"What Gateway!? I don't understand what the hell is going on!" He shrieked but she only winced in response.

"You'll know what to do when the time is right..." She said softly, "I can't interfere more than I have already..." Suddenly her physical body was fading away like the pedals that flew by them.

"No... No! I won't let you go! What do I do!? Emily!" He screamed as he tried to pull her body closer to his. But his hands were only feeling air instead and he started to hate this sudden supernatural sense.

"Follow your heart, Kevin. Trust your friends and you'll know what to do. It's up to you to save the ones you love, now..." With that, Emily vanished with the pedals and the bright blue lights at the end of both sides of the road ignited and flashed Kevin's vision, making everything go from a flash of light to a sudden drop of darkness.

Kevin squeezed his eyes hard and then opened them slightly as his head was enduring a sharp pain that seemed to increase in scale by the minute. He grunted and turned his head into the soft fabric his head rested on and inhaled slowly, his nose picking up a certain familiar smell in the softness he laid in and continued to inhale its familiarity, something he hadn't experienced in the last while. From the color of the sheets he noticed by his blurry vision they were a light shade of black, which he was suddenly thankful for because of the migraine his head seemed to be having.

Nothing seemed real by the blurry-ness of his surroundings but he knew he was awake. He just felt a kind of numbness around his joints like as if his own body was trying to wake up too, but he could ignore that, his body must have been sleeping for a few hours and his muscles must have followed after everything.

"You're awake," His voice sounded like he had just woken up as well, the sound of a yawn was what followed next.

Kevin didn't have to be surprised anymore, he knew who it was by the sound of his voice and judging by the smell of this bed he was resting on he assumed it was Demetrius'. Kevin groaned and moved his head so he could see the Husky sitting in the chair next to his bed, his concerned Glacier blue eyes staring into Kevin's softly as he leaned forward onto his knees so he could be closer to the Human.

"Skylar..." He whispered in fear, like as if his memory files just remembered his son's crying image of last time he'd seen him. He moved quickly to get up but with the sudden mix of his head twisting in pain and Demetrius stretching his paws out onto Kevin's chest and hand he went back down into the sheets hard. Never in all his years has Kevin felt this type of migraine so intense before.

"Hey," Demetrius shushed Kevin and knelt beside the bed now, his paw coming up to brush through the Human's sweaty hair and putting a small smile on his muzzle, "Relax, he's okay. He's right here." He pointed to the opposite side of Kevin where Skylar was sleeping blissfully next to his father. The sight to Kevin was one of the most wonderful things he's seen all day. Emily was right, Skylar was safe.

Demetrius' other paw squeezed Kevin's hand which brought his attention back to the warrior, "You had me worried sick about you..." Kevin looked into Demetrius' eyes again and could tell from being up close to him that the Husky has aged quite considerably. His body type hardly changed, it might have even gotten more bulky with a more muscle tone but his eyes were what looked tired from his age. Ten years really did a lot on the warrior, "You know," Demetrius choked out quietly, his smile showing still as he looked downward in shyness, "I may have not been myself the last few times I met you, but right now at this moment, I can't express how happy I am to have you right here, right next to me again after so many years."

Kevin felt warmth in his stomach again, "Demetrius." He replied softly.

The Husky brought his paw up to Kevin's cheek and let it cup the face he longed to see for some time now, "I still love you Kevin." He interrupted Kevin quickly, not wanted the Human to protest about having his paw on his face or the sudden closeness his muzzle was away from those lips he wanted to kiss. "I know this isn't a time to say it but this is possibly the only chance I will ever have you alone right now. Kevin, seeing your face, having you right here in front of me and actually feeling you is giving me the most wonderful feeling I have ever felt since ten years ago. And the kiss..." Kevin remembered their intimate scene in the moment of danger, the fire burning hot around them like their kiss and feeling a sense of relief in being in each other's arms, "That kiss was what made me feel like you still feel this too," He placed his other paw on Kevin's heart, "You feel your heart beating as fast as mine." Then it slid down his chest and rested on his stomach, Kevin shivered and let out a small pleasing hiss, "Your stomach is having the butterflies, like mine," Then Demetrius continued downward slowly until Kevin let out an embarrassingly small audible moan in pleasure as Demetrius cupped the growing hardness between the Human's legs above his pants, "And you feel the need that I feel right now," He breathed pleasurably, his firm hard grip on Kevin's crotch giving the Human a wave of butterflies, "If I am correct, this is a sign that I am right...You still love me too, right?"

Kevin lifted his head up despite the migraine and pressed his mouth to the Husky's, his tongue forcing the muzzle open and matching the intensity Demetrius had already. Demetrius was welcoming the sudden force as his paw that rested on Kevin's crotch began to rub fiercely in a an up and down motion so well that Kevin's hips even bucked with the movements, his breathing into the kiss more louder than before but that didn't stop Kevin from bringing his hands up around the Husky's neck and pulling him down closer on top of him.

They continued this for a few minutes until Kevin moaned silently for them to stop, their lips parting with saliva strings connecting their mouths like electricity and their eyes never looking away from each other.

Kevin wiped his mouth with his sleeve and looked over at Skylar who was sleeping hard next to them, not even awake from the naughty display they shamefully had put on. Demetrius cleared his throat and looked from both Human's, his tongue hanging out of his muzzle slightly. "We can't do this," Kevin said between pants, his breathing trying to calm now, "Not in front of him."

Demetrius let out a small whimper but understood the problem of the situation. "Sorry," He said in response with a small laugh, "Got carried away."

Kevin smiled and placed a light kiss on Demetrius' lips, but before he could move Demetrius interrupted.

"W-wait..." He stuttered as Kevin looked into the Husky's eyes as he sat up into a sitting position. Demetrius let his ears drop to the sides like a hurt puppy and avoided eye contact, a question lingered on his tongue like a piece of hard candy but he suddenly stopped himself before he could ask what he wanted. He wanted to take the Human right then and there but given the circumstances, Demetrius never wanted to have an intimate moment in front of Skylar. "Never mind," Demetrius smiled and kissed Kevin's head.

Kevin smiled, but he felt a wave of guilt inside himself afterward. What he just did with Demetrius was wrong--not because it was an act of homosexuality, no that was fine to Kevin--but because he was in a relationship with Clarissa. Kevin had now just potentially cheated on her with Demetrius, the one he used to love. Kevin suddenly felt himself in a triangle of guilt.

Then, to break the silence in the room, a knock came at the door and Demetrius didn't even twitch as he remained close to Kevin when the door creaked loudly open, "Sir," A male's voice said softly after clearing his throat, "Brook would like to have a word with you and your friend."

Demetrius looked downwardly in annoyance and sighed, "Now? He's just woken up."

"Yes sir," He responded, "He says now."

Demetrius growled and stood up, taking Kevin's hand into his paw and helping the Human to his feet and pushing past the Rhino at the door. Though, the only thing Kevin could focus on was the warmth of his ex-lover's paw.

Clarissa shook as she placed the gauze on Luc's arm, having a grunt from the Fox making her jump in response and squeaking in fear.

Luc smiled, "Relax," He said calmly, "You're doing fine."

She stopped for a second to look up into his eyes and then continued to patch up the burn wounds on the Fox's arms. Clarissa was in the infirmary of their warehouse base of operations, doing the one thing she knew best: Nursing! The room was large, but the one thing that made it more awkward than just being in a building full of... monsters?--was that what they were called? They were animals but walking and talking... Should they be called people?--was that they were all looking at her. Watching Clarissa like as if she posed some sort of threat to the Fox, which she clearly wasn't but Clarissa didn't want to question their authority or else she'd fear something might happen to her.

Her legs felt weak but they still kept her standing tall and confident, the years of nursing school really prepared her for handling situations under pressure, otherwise she'd be losing her coolness and screaming in a corner crying, which she really wanted to do right now. The Lizard-armoured man behind her watched her closely, his presence haunting Clarissa's conscious and sending sharp cold shivers down her spinal cord.

Luc noticed her shoulders twitch and understood her fear, he's seen innocent people scared before in his line of work and this was a clear sign that the Human girl was trying her best to stay calm, "Hey," Luc brought her attention back to his and looked her in the eyes dead on again. "Focus right here. Don't mind him; this is just standard protocol with unwelcome guests."

"If someone told me that I would be held prisoner by...whatever you are, I probably would have been very sceptical this morning." She responded with a sense of humor, which brought a little laugh from the Fox. He smiled calmly and cautiously for her so she could have a sense that the Fox never meant any harm. And by judging how she smiled back, he knew that it was working, she seemed to be easing her shoulders a little.

They remained in silence for a few minutes until Clarissa began tightening the bandages, which Luc reluctantly gave a small grunt in return, "Sorry," She whispered softly, stopping a second for the Fox to register the pain that shot up his arm. He smiled and nodded, allowing Clarissa to finish, "So, about your comrade. That Tiger, was he a friend?"

Luc was reminded of Damien's dead body, which brought him to look a little more grim than he intended to look, "Yeah," He choked out a little, "He was a good soldier but also a perfect friend. Though, he was an even better friend to Demetrius, those two were inseparable."

"Demetrius... was he the Husky looking one who..." She trailed off and remembered the horrific scene of Demetrius sitting on top of the Eternal soldier and just brutalizing his face with his very own claws. Clarissa had never seen so much blood being spilled from a living soul in her life until then.

"Killed that soldier with just his paws? Yeah, that'd be him." He responded in a matter-of-factly, "But, he's not always like that. He's a real nice guy once you get to know him. He'd only kill if he had to but during this case where his best friend was murdered, he had every right to do what he did. I would back him up on that till the end."

"Sounds like he's built up a lot of stress by just looking at how he... attacked that soldier." She finalized her work on Luc's arm and lightly patted it with another beautiful smile.

"He has been under a lot of stress, yes." Luc responded simply, hopping off the table he'd been sitting on and standing at full height, towering over Clarissa's head so much that she had to crane her head a little, her own full height meeting just Luc's chest. "But I'm sure he and that boy are... rekindling their love after so many years. They do have a lot of catching up to do. Demetrius was miserable for so long it was sometimes good to see a smile on his face when he saw his old lover."

Clarissa froze and looked confused, "What...?"

"Demetrius," Luc said, inspecting his arm, "He and that Human male you were with were once engaged--" Luc halted his speech immediately and felt every hair on his body stand tall, his own eyes widening at realization on whom he had just admitted that to. "Shit..."

"Kevin and..." She looked up into Luc's eyes with her own set of wide ones, her body for some reason letting down its somewhat tough posterior and now shaking with resentment. Her eyes started to water unexpectedly, "They were...engaged?"

Before Luc could save what he'd just said, he was rudely interrupted. "Luc!" Someone called from the infirmary entrance, "Brook wants to see you and the girl now."

Luc growled, "Can't this wait?"

"Now, Luc, it's important."

"I'm sure it is," He growled to himself before calling out to the person requesting them both and confirming that they were on their way. "Look," He said to Clarissa, "I'll explain later, I promise. Just... please don't cry."

"Hold your breath, one...two...three!"

Snap!

"AHHH!!" Felix screamed to the top of his lungs as his shoulder snapped back into place, his cry of pain echoing the ships hollow walls and vibrating to every room on the second deck so loudly that it gave every Eternal soldier a shiver of coldness spiked down their spines.

The room Felix and the doctor were in was dark and grimy mixed in with a little rust molding in the corners, the only light source in the metal box was an individual light bulb that was hanging by its cord and casting a yellow cone of light above the two. Felix had never smelt so much of his blood like he did now in this room, the stench just never left as no air circulation was given to exhaust it out so the Fennec just felt himself get dizzy from the fumes of his own blood sticking into his nose. He was confused, as an assassin he should have not felt sick from the smell of blood but for some reason when it came to his own it made him nauseous.

"That soldier really did a number on you, Felix." The doctor packed up his bag of tools and sighed a heavy breath, "Never had I had someone come in with so many broken ribs."

Felix grunted and tried to sit up, "He will pay for this."

"You should really rest," The doctor didn't even try to help him up and instead just witnessed the Fennec collapse back onto the table with a groan of pain, "Your body will need time to heal itself. I've done everything I can for now."

Felix only growled in response but the doctor knew he would not try to move for at least a couple of days. The amount of ribs that had to be snapped back should have knocked him out due to the serious amount of pain but the Fennec was more stubborn than their illustrious commander, Humphrey.

"Thanks." Felix grunted and that gave the doctor the cue to leave. But once the doctor opened the door, that's when he was interrupted by a large Saber standing in its doorway.

"Sir Garock!"

Felix's eyes twitched in response and every fiber on him stood tall as Garock bent under the doorway and pushed past the doctor, whose back was pushed against the wall as the very tall Saber entered the metal room and stood over the Fennec's body. At first his expression was a look of concern, something the doctor had never seen on the Eternal leader's face before, and then it shifted to a dark anger as he finished inspecting the injuries the Fennec had on his body. Felix squirmed in the hard gaze Garock looked him over with, wanting to try and cover up his shirtless body but found no strength in his arms to move them.

"How'd this happen?" Garock said sternly, which the doctor had to snap himself out of his reverie to respond quickly, knowing from experience the Saber never liked to have to repeat.

"Uhh," The Feline doctor cleared his throat and took a step forward from the wall cautiously, "He sustained multiple injuries from being tossed out of a balcony..."

"I wasn't asking you!" He growled as he looked over his shoulder, which the Feline reluctantly jumped back, "Leave us." The doctor didn't think twice as he left the metal room and closed the door behind him, leaving the two alone together.

"Sire..." Felix grunted.

"Who did this to you?" He ignored Felix and lightly rubbed his large paws up and down the Fennec's side, a purple light starting to ignite its path the paws followed.

Felix held a whimper from escaping his mouth, they both knew he was ticklish but Felix didn't want to break his concentration. Besides, avoiding a topic Garock wanted to discuss was never an option, "Demetrius." He said in a hard voice that sounded like he was trying to hold back something.

Garock growled, continuing his path up and down the Fennec's chest and shoulders in a slow motion so the purple light could tail behind them in an act of healing. Felix moaned the whimper he'd been holding so hard to sustain, "Why did Humphrey not give you more back up?"

"It was I who chose only two to follow me, sire. The Rat had no call in that decision. I take full responsibility of their death." Felix responded softly.

"Their deaths don't mean anything to me. I'm more concerned about you." Garock stopped his paws directly on the crook of the Fennec's neck as the purple tails settled under his paws, emanating a small amount of heat that finalized his healing process and letting Felix release a long air of breath he'd been trying to hold. His body didn't hurt anymore; the bones in his body had been repaired instantaneously. Garock's mysterious ability with magic had always confused the assassin but he would never question on how he had acquired this sorcery. Quite frankly, he was grateful that the Eternal leader was here to make the pain go away.

Garock allowed his gaze to remain to the Fennec's until finally he knelt down slowly to place a kiss on those sweet lips he wanted but Felix moved his mouth to the side in an act of rebellion. Garock paused in shock for a moment before growling and standing tall over the assassin. "I don't understand why you won't be my mate." He scoffed like a child, "You know my feelings towards you and yet you still refuse to give me a chance. What is your purpose for rejecting me for so long?"

Felix didn't respond, just stared into one of the dark rusted corners.

"I have tried my hardest to get over you with many slaves tending to my needs but none of them have made me forget about the thought of you." He explained, "You are a loyal soldier with a true heart, Felix, and yet you'd still have yet to tell me on why you won't be my mate."

"Because I'm not ready to give myself to anyone yet, Garock," Felix sighed and stubbornly kept his gaze away from the Saber's, "I don't know how to let someone into my life like this."

"Then allow me to show you how I can prove my love to you. Give me a chance and you will be next to me when we rule the Kingdom together." Garock held Felix's paw in his own large one.

Felix finally allowed himself to look into the Eternal leaders purple eyes, his mouth hanging open a little as an act to respond but for some reason Felix could not find the words to say something back. He knew Garock was in love with him, that was true, but something inside Felix's heart was stopping himself from allowing the leader to be welcomed into his life as a mate. Truthfully, Felix had never given much thought on a relationship nor has he much cared for one, but when he was around Garock he always found his own body betraying him with many sexual needs wanting to be filled with the Saber's own.

It was very frustrating to Felix but he could never act upon those feelings because that would be letting the leader into his life. Opening the gates into a new world where Felix and the Saber would be partners in a revolution that could change history in the making.

"I still need to think on this." He responded with a smile, which Garock sighed heavily in response and pulled the Fennec up into a seating position so he could press his head to his very large chest, rubbing the backs of his ears softly. Although this may have been an act of intimacy, Felix never minded the closeness of Garock.

"Very well," Garock replied softly in a small harmless growl, "I shall wait for your response. Though please do hurry with your answer, I have a revolution to prepare for in the next few hours."

Demetrius and Kevin along with Luc and Clarissa all walked into the war room slowly, having being greeted with many soldiers lining the walls with their paws held firmly in front of them formally and their heads held high. In the middle of the room was a large table with a giant map of New York they had acquired in the city on one half and a same size map of the Kingdom of Arella on the other, each map containing color coated pins on certain locations of the maps and flags hanging off a handful of them which signified as bases and points of interests.

Brook stood in the center alone with the table, leaning against the mahogany surface with his head hanging low in regret and his eyes full of fatigue that it almost looked like he'd been dead for days. Though, after recent events Demetrius was not expecting the Horse to be in a good mood. Like before, he was able to tell when Brook was in a bad mood and when he was mad his glares were more cold than the winter outside the base walls. His hands were clenched into fists and his fur outlined a few veins that seemed to jut out in certain places on the horses neck, but that was just a view from a few feet away.

When they all got closer they noticed that the bags around his eyes made him look like he was a zombie, it was like he hadn't bathed in days and the armour he wore didn't have the shine it always had when he walked into the room. Everything about the Horse seemed to be angry, which made Demetrius--for the first time--fear something was on the generals mind that was going to involve the four of them.

When they stopped on the opposite side of the table across from Brook, the Horse finally moved and stood tall, letting his arms fall behind his back and his posture to normal height, "I'm sure you all know why you're here. Well, two of you I guess." He started formally but then dropped the act at the end, his face just full of disappointment. "I've been doing this for a very long time and never had I ever lost a single soldier. But until recent events, I have lost two men already and why?" He paused as if actually waiting for them to respond. But none of them opened their mouths to speak, "Because of this god-damn war. I own the first death," He looked to Luc as knowing the first death was his brother, "In which I am still not sleeping well at night for, but the second... That makes me feel very angry."

Demetrius let his ears fall.

"But I am not here to talk about the death of two of my best soldiers, no; I am here to talk to you two, Demetrius Crawford and Luc Sparks." He sighed and took off one of his gauntlets, "You two are here because I ordered you to. Why? Well that is because you went against my orders."

Demetrius' ears perked back up this time, knowing where this was going, "Wait, Brook!" Demetrius' speech was halted when a guard came from behind him and grabbed his paws roughly behind his back.

Brook continued as Luc was grabbed the same way by another guard, "I warned you, Demetrius. I told you that if you were spotted by the Human's I would be forced to do something I'd regret. And now that you have broken that law, you and Luc are--unfortunately--both going to be faced with capital punishment."

"Brook, you can't be serious! They would be dead if we hadn't stopped the attack." Demetrius struggled, along with Luc, to break free of the Guards holding their paws tightly. Kevin took a few steps back and for some reason watched the whole ordeal play in front of him. What was going on?

"I know that and the King honors your bravery but you were never supposed to be seen by the Humans either way. That breaks the number one rule the King had given us before crossing worlds. And for that, you will be hung to death." Brook sighed and turned to walk in the other direction.

"Hung to death...?" Kevin repeated, with shock playing in his voice.

"Kevin," Demetrius looked into the Human's eyes, "Get Skylar and run, now!"

But before Kevin could react he was grabbed as well from behind by another tall and extremely unnecessarily strong guard, "I'm afraid that won't be an option Demetrius. You see, now that the enemy knows about our Gateway being the boy, we can't afford to leave him in their hands anymore. Skylar will be taken into our custody as ordered by the King. The two Human's will go with you to Arella and will most likely serve purpose there until the war is over."

"You're taking my son away from me!?" Kevin screamed as Clarissa was grabbed next, her shriek tearing through everyone's ears, everyone in the room winced and Luc became more vicious as they touched her.

Brook nodded in pain, "The King has ordered that we protect the boy at all cost. Seeing as the enemy knows about our Gateway you are here by being removed from the situation until further notice."

"What Gateway are you talking about!?" Kevin screamed and struggled in the soldiers arms, "For god sakes he's a child!"

"Yes," Brook started simply, turning to face Kevin a little, "That's precisely why your son has the power to sustain a full Gateway link. Your son's youth is what keeps our Gateway strong for us to travel back and forth with double the amount of soldiers."

Kevin almost felt tears building up, "How can my son be a Gateway? Why him? It should be me; I was the only Human capable of passing between two worlds!"

"Yes, that is true." He replied, "But your son carries the gene." Demetrius growled ferociously and only fought to break free, which evoked two more soldiers to sustain him.

"What are you talking about?" Kevin felt his legs shivering.

"What I am talking about, Human, is that when you pulled that little stunt and died in Arella ten years ago, you still bore the blood of Demetrius in your body even in this Human world. How your son is able to be our Gateway is because the blood of Demetrius flows strongly in his own little veins. You passed the gene of an Anthro onto your son, which technically means that Skylar is also Demetrius' son too." He choked a little, Brook didn't want to do this but he was given orders by the King so he had no say in what happens. He never wanted to see any of them face this punishment, but seeing as Kevin was involved now, the Horse felt that Human needed the whole truth now, "The birth of Skylar is probably what killed his mother."

Demetrius roared, "Brook, enough!"

Kevin looked from the two frantically, did Demetrius know something he wasn't telling Kevin?

"What? Emily died at birth!" Tears began to fall down Kevin's cheeks as he started to make sense of this. But when he brought up Skylar's mother, Emily, Kevin got confused again.

"I feel sorry for the poor soul who gave birth to an Anthro/Human cross species. Skylar must have been killing her from the inside once he was conceived." Brook said simply.

"Brook!" Luc roared out next. Did he know something too?

"Are you saying that Skylar was the cause of his mother's death?" Clarissa said between small sobs.

"Yes, because a cross-species birth of an Anthro/Human never ends well. It is quite possible that the Anthro side of your son was what killed her because he needed more nutrients than a regular Human baby. And a Human mother's body giving birth to an Anthro cub probably could not adjust so quickly enough." He sighed and looked away to avoid severe eye contact from the Husky. "Skylar's mother was never actually his mother anyway."

Never actually his mother!? Kevin just froze on the spot as Brook said that with a sense of regret but relief as well for telling that burden Kevin wasn't supposed to know.

"What do you mean?" Kevin screamed, "She gave birth to him!"

"Yes," Said Brook, "But she only carried the baby. You and the blood of Demetrius is what created that boy. So congratulation, you're both the fathers."

"So Emily...was a surrogate carrier for Kevin and..." Clarissa paused and looked between Kevin and Demetrius. Clarissa couldn't even bring herself to say Demetrius' name because of how she could never believe the two even had a relationship. But hearing all this, in a place where walking-talking animals existed, she didn't know what to believe anymore.

"That's not possible!" Kevin cried and started to resist the hold he was in, but the much larger guard didn't even budge from Kevin's protests.

"I'm sorry." Brook said as he turned in the direction he was heading, "But I'm afraid it's all true. Now if you'd be kind to not resist, we have a place where all of you can go." Before he left the war room, he spoke to the guard next to the exit, "Open the gate."

A few moments later a cracking sound erupted loudly into the room and a sudden gust of wind poured in all around them. Just as they all tried to resist the winds a bright light appeared next to all of them and exploded open into a hybrid of colors before it opened up to be a circle tall enough for a man to walk through.

"Skylar!" Kevin screamed but nothing happened, he cried out in agony as he didn't want to be taken away from his son. For some reason it felt like the hole inside Kevin was more than just a metaphor.

Then the Guards carried them through and the portal closed shut behind them.
