I couldn't keep you all in suspense on this one. This is the last chapter, and i wrote it out quickly for you all. I hope you enjoyed the story. I know i enjoyed writing it. Let me know what you thought about it. Tell me what you liked or what you didn't like, and send Sophie and Nate some love. Enjoy!

As he helped the other men unload the helicopter, Nate knew he was lucky that the scent of his musk and sweat masked the stench of blood coming from his arm. In his mind, he kept imagining that his arm would smell like rotten meat because of the infection, but he knew he was just making things up. As the other men went into the main entrance building, Nate removed his belt and tied it tightly around the top of his arm. He was trying to cut off the spread of infection before it went all over his body, but he could still feel it moving like jelly through his veins, crawling towards the belt.

Without too much hesitation, he began walking towards his house. It was his last chance to give her what she wanted more than anything in the world, and he had decided that if he had to leave her, he would leave her with a baby to love. He knew it would break her to lose him, but maybe, if she knew she was pregnant, she wouldn't do anything to hurt herself.

Surprisingly, it didn't take him too long to get back to his home, and as he walked up to the front door, he took the doorknob into his paw and paused, taking a deep breath. After pausing for several seconds, he finally managed to gain enough courage to turn the knob and push the door open, and in a matter of seconds, her scent smacked into his nose. It was so strong that he almost stumbled back out the door, but he gripped the door frame with his claws before he could fall back.

It had been so long since the last time he got a whiff of her true heated scent, and now, he wondered how he could have possibly stayed away from it for so long. In her scent, he could almost feel her intense need to mate, and as he walked through the house, he began to growl in a dominant manner. Despite his thoughts, it was not because of the infection, but he wanted her, and he wanted her right then.

"Sophie!" He yelled out in a loud voice, trying to find her.

Usually, he could follow her scent and find where she was, but her scent was all over the house, and he couldn't follow a single trail to her. He quickly ran up the stairs, pushing open their bedroom door so hard it made a loud bang on the wall. Even in the darkness, he could see Sophie on the bed, panting as if she had been running for miles before he walked in.

Tilting his head slowly to the side, Nate stared at her, debating on how he wanted to have her. Since she was in heat, he knew that she would not notice the bite mark on his arm, and as he walked closer to her, she sat up quickly, surprise filling her eyes.

"Nate!"

A large smile came over her lips as she saw him. The fight from last night was the last thing she was thinking of, and before she could even get up off the bed, Nate reached out to her and pulled her up by her arms to press to his chest. With their bodies smashed together, Nate leaned down and kissed her deeply on the lips, trying to push all the love he had for her into that one single act.

Pulling back, Sophie looked up into his eyes, still panting a bit from her body being in heat.

"Nate, I'm so sorry about last night." She whispered.

With a smile, Nate wrapped his arms around her waist, and he leaned in to whisper into her ear.

"I am too my love. I was selfish."

Without another word, he reached up and gripped the small night gown she was wearing, and with one pull, he ripped it in half, watching as the fabric fell down to the floor around her ankles. There was a lot of surprise in Sophie's eyes, but she didn't argue. In an instant, Nate had her back pushed back against the wall. As her back smacked the wall, Sophie let out a loud moan, feeling chills run over her fur. Nate smirked as he watched her nipples get harder for him, and he leaned down to latch onto one, sucking it into his mouth.

With another loud moan, Sophie went up onto her tip toes, shivering from the feeling of Nate's rough tongue flicking over her sensitive nipples. Since she was in heat, every part of her body was more sensitive, and Nate knew that. He fully intended to take full advantage of her situation.

As Nate finished with her breast, he began kissing down her stomach and to her lower lips. Once he got down onto his knees, he could see her lower lips were a bit swollen, and he smiled as he saw the edges of her lips turned pink to show she was in heat. She was already wet from him, and slowly, he leaned in to kiss her clit, flicking it with his rough, feline tongue. That sent her into a frenzy, and as he continued to lick, she went higher on her tip toes like a ballerina and gripped his hair with her paws.

"Nate! Nate, please take me." She said with a whimper.

Her body was on fire, and she could hardly even see through the haze of lust that was clouding her mind. She needed Nate, and as she watched him stand up, she smiled and kissed him once more, tasting herself on his lips. As he pushed up against her, his body towered over hers, but she loved that about him. His large chest pressed her back against the wall, shielding her from the rest of the world, and with one quick motion of his paws, she was turned around.

Her breasts were now pushed against the cool wall, making her get goose bumps under her fur, and the sound of a zipper filled the air. It didn't take long before she could feel his smooth fur rubbing against hers, making a sensational friction between both of them. Nate laid his head on Sophie's shoulder, nuzzling into her neck to take in her natural scent, and he placed his paws on her hips, letting his hard member rub against her lower lips from behind.

"Sophie, I love you more than anything. Never forget that." He said with a smile.

There was a bit of sadness in his eyes, but she couldn't see it, and with a smile, she pushed her hips back against his, poking her butt out more for a better angle.

"I know Nate. You're my world." She said with a purr.

Slowly, Nate moved so that he could push inside of her, and as he felt himself sinking into her lower lips, he had to moan out in pleasure from the heat. Since she was so wet, it felt like he was sinking into a hot tub made specifically for his cock, and soon, he hilted into her, hitting her back wall. Sophie moaned out in pleasure, arching her back for him, and she lifted her tail high to let him know she was enjoying herself.

As her lower lips gripped him, he smiled and nuzzled into her neck, taking in her scent and pulling her hips back into his to make her move on his cock. For Nate, It was a huge turn on to pull her hips back and make her take him over and over, and as he began to thrust hard, Sophie put her paws on the wall for balance. She could feel her claws digging into the paint, but she didn't care. All she wanted was to feel Nate taking her. Slowly, Nate moved his paws to rest over hers, intertwining his fingers in hers to show he loved her as he continued to thrust, causing their hips to connect together.

Sophie could feel her whole body reacting to him by how much juices she was producing, but she could also feel her tail swaying in the air in pleasure and her breasts bouncing with each hard thrust. Nate was panting into her ears, and she smiled, turning her head to kiss him deeply on the lips.

When Nate slowly pulled back, Sophie purred and whispered to him.

"Nate! I love you so much. Please, please put out my heat." Sophie said with a whimper.

If there was one thing Nate could not stand, it was to hear Sophie whimper. Smiling, he knew he had to do what she said, and he held her tightly to his chest, letting their fur rub together as he panted into her ear. Using his paws to pull her hips back into his harder, he growled and felt the head of his cock hitting the entrance to her womb.

"Are you ready to feel me push in?" Nate asked with a smirk on his face.

Nate had wanted to push into her womb when she was in heat for a long time, and after Sophie nodded her head, he reached back up, putting his paws on top of hers and lacing their fingers together. It was for a romantic effect, and in one powerful thrust, he felt the head of his cock push into her heated womb. The heat was so overwhelming that he had to moan out himself, and Sophie began to pant, moving up on her tip toes once again in pleasure.

"Nate!" She squealed loudly.

Her body was shaking, causing her legs to feel numb from all the hard mating, but she loved every second. As he finally pushed into her womb, Sophie could feel her head dizzy with bliss. It was a feeling she had wanted to experience for some time, and as he pulled out of her, she whimpered for him to push back in.

With a smirk, Nate hilted inside of Sophie once more. It was amazing to be with her like this. He wished he had done it sooner, because there was really nothing like it. Her scent was so strong that his nose was tingling from her natural spices. Even her lower lips seemed more wet than usual as they dripped juices over his lap.

He had been taking her so hard, her juices had splashed out over his lap, and he knew her thighs were dripping with juices as well. Panting, Nate began to thrust as hard as he could into Sophie, causing her legs to start shaking. Sophie was so lost in bliss that she didn't even notice her claws digging into the wall, leaving long, deep gashes, and as Nate looked up, he smirked and pushed deep inside of her one last time, pushing into her womb and starting to finish inside of her.

Laying his head on the back of her shoulder, Nate wanted so badly to give her a mating bite, but he wasn't going to take a risk. Smiling, he could feel Sophie's body shaking as she came for him as well. Her juices began dripping down his lap and down her legs as she finished, and his cum was filling her womb, pooling inside of her.

As Nate lifted his head from Sophie's shoulder, he could see she was passed out against the wall. The only reason she was still standing was because he had her pinned to the wall with his body. Slowly, he moved back and walked to the bed, laying her down on top of the covers.

"I love you Sophie." He whispered into her ear.

Laying with her on the bed, he could feel her heat slowly going away, and he knew that she was pregnant. He had filled her with so much seed that her stomach was already poking out as if she had a two month old baby bump, but as he tried to enjoy the sigh of a well-bred Sophie, He could feel the infection was starting to sneak past the belt on his arm, and he sighed. There was not much time left for him.

Slowly, he pulled out of Sophie and leaned down to kiss her deeply on the lips. He made sure to hold the kiss as long as he possibly could, but when he finally had to pull away, he curled up with Sophie on the bed and closed his eyes. He knew that he had a few hours to enjoy her scent, and then, he would have to go.

__

After a few hours, Sophie slowly woke up. She could feel Nate's arm around her waist, and she blushed since they were both still naked. Since her heat was gone, she knew he had taken her, and as she turned around to face him, a blush covered her cheeks. Her stomach was a little bloated from all of his cum that she had been filled with, and as she faced him, she leaned up and kissed his lips to wake him.

Once his eyes opened, she smiled up to him.

"Nate, I can't believe you changed your mind. I'm so glad you came back to me." Sophie said with a smile, kissing Nate's lips innocently.

With a soft smile, Nate looked down into her eyes with his saddened ones. Sophie instantly knew there was something wrong by the way he was looking at her, and she leaned up, looking back at him.

"Nate, I'm so sorry. If I made you mate with me while I was in heat, I'm so sorry. I know you didn't want to, and I--"

Nate placed his index finger over Sophie's lips, and he let his eyes wander down to his arm. As she followed his eyes, she could see the belt tied around his forearm, and as her eyes traveled a bit lower, she could see the crescent moon shaped bite mark. It was obvious that it was from an infected, and before her mind could truly register what was going on, Nate was standing and slipping his pants back on.

"Sophie, I had an accident today. As I was reaching for my gun, one of the infected creatures bit my arm. I haven't told anyone, but I wanted to come see you one last time." Nate said with regret dripping off of his every word.

As she realized what he was saying, Sophie's eyes began to tear up. Nate had become infected, and there was only a matter of time before he would start to turn for the worst.

"Nate, this can't be happening. Tell me you're joking." Sophie demanded loudly.

"I'm sorry my love. I'm not joking, and I need to leave before I hurt you. I can already feel it."

Sophie quickly got to her feet, and she grabbed Nate's good arm, holding him there. She couldn't lose him. They had been through too much together for him to leave now, and as he looked down at her with saddened eyes, she knew he was serious.

"Nate, you're staying here. I can come up with an antidote. Just give me some time. I can fix this. Please, don't leave. I won't be able to survive without you."

As tears began to fall from her eyes, Nate reached down and wiped the water droplets from Sophie's face. It was a sweet gesture, but he slowly dropped his hand back to his side, and he looked down at the ground.

"Sophie, I never want to leave you, but I won't let myself hurt you. I hope you do find a cure, but I don't think you will find one in my time. Please, continue looking for a cure. I love you with all my heart."

With those words, Nate began to turn to leave the room, and Sophie gripped the shirt he had just placed over his shoulders, pulling him back in her direction. It was a last effort to keep him from leaving, but as she pulled the shirt, it slipped through her fingers, and Nate continued walking for the doorway.

"I won't do it!" Sophie shouted loudly, tears running down her cheeks. "I won't live in this world without you. You know that don't you?"

Slowly, Nate nodded his head and began buttoning up his shirt. It was cold outside, and he knew he needed at least a little protection from the cold while he was still himself.

"I know you wouldn't, but I love you Sophie, and I never want you to hurt yourself. I'd give my life for you, and I am giving my life for yours now. I came back to mate with you so that you would have a little piece of me with you. Take care of our cub. I know you will, and I know you won't hurt yourself with a child to take care of. You're too much of a mother."

Sophie's eyes widened as she realized Nate had given her a baby, but it was to make sure that she wouldn't kill herself when he died. Nate had always been very protective of her, and as he stood in the doorway, he looked at her one last time, letting his eyes wander over her beautiful figure. For a moment, he imagined what she would look like with a large baby bump, and a few tears of his own began to form.

"I love you Sophie."

After he spoke, Nate walked down the stairs, and he quickly left the house. He wanted to stay longer, but he could already feel the infection setting in. The urge to rip, tare, and bite had already started to fill him, and as he stood in the doorway with Sophie, he had felt the need to bite into her flesh. He knew then that it was time to leave, and as he began trudging over the snow, he did not dare to look back at the small house. If he did, he would go back.

__

Quickly, Sophie grabbed some clothes and threw them on. Andy was in the guest room, and she knew he was still fast asleep since it was so early in the morning. Frantically trying to get dressed, she knew she had to get whatever antidote she could to Nate.

As she ran down into the basement, Sophie quickly started working on what she could. She knew that if she could just get the white blood cells from Andy's blood to multiply, Nate would have a chance. Grabbing the bag of blood, Sophie quickly put small drops of blood into test tubes, and slipped them into an old centrifuge that Nate had brought her. The machine was designed to spin solutions and separate different parts, and Sophie knew that if she could spin the blood, the plasma would separate from the blood, and she could harvest it for the antidote.

After spinning several test tubes of blood, Sophie collected the clear liquid that had settled on top of the blood, and she quickly put it into another test tube. The idea was to add a buffer. A buffer would cause the white blood cells to multiply quickly, and in one syringe, Sophie could have enough white blood cells to fight the virus instantly.

Since Andy's cells were immune to the virus, Sophie thought the idea would work. It was a very well thought out plan, but now, she had to find Nate in order to give him the Antidote. As she looked at the clock, she could see that she had been in the basement for at least an hour. If she was going to give Nate the shot, the cells would need to be kept cold to survive, and she quickly came up with an idea.

Running upstairs, Sophie put the syringe into the fridge, and she quickly grabbed the radio on the small hallway table. The radio was for emergencies only, and she knew that she could get David on it if she tried. Flipping the power switch, she watched as the machine came to life, sending static dancing into her ears. It was a big chance, but she started to work the dials, trying to find the radio waves that the entrance building used for their communications. As she fumbled with the knobs, voices came through the static, and her heart jumped in joy. She had managed to find someone. Now, she needed to find David and Nate.

"Hello! Can anyone hear me?" Sophie screamed into the microphone.

Through the static, she could make out faint voices, and as she turned the dial, they became more audible.

"Hello!" Sophie screamed again, but this time she heard a response.

"Yes, who is this? I hear you loud and clear ma'am."

It was a male's voice coming over the radio, but she had no idea who it belonged too.

"I need to speak with the captain, David. This is Sophie, and it's very urgent!"

"Of course, Sophie. Let me find him."

There had been no argument once she had given her name, and as she waited for the male to bring David, she could feel her foot tapping on the ground and her fingers playing music on the table. She was so impatient, and she couldn't sit still. She knew that at any moment, Nate would finish himself off, but she hoped that he went to say goodbye to David as well.

As she stayed on the line, there was a loud commotion. She couldn't make out the sounds until she heard gun shots fired, and she jumped in her seat. There was no way for her to know what was going on, but after several minutes of yelling, David finally came onto the line, and to her dismay, he sounded frantic.

"Sophie, lock all your doors and stay inside. Understand me?" He said in a demanding voice.

At first, Sophie thought it was just because of Nate, but in her heart, she could tell it was something much worse.

"David! David, Nate got infected, and I have the closest thing I can get to a cure right now. You need to get him back here, now!" Sophie yelled into the radio, feeling her heartbeat coming through her ears.

"Sophie, I know he's infected, but there is something bigger happening now. The woman got out, and she's looking for her son, and even worse, she's looking for you. She kept laughing your name and saying she was coming for you. We're trying to find her, but you need to stay inside."

David's voice was surprisingly calm for the situation, but Sophie couldn't control hers. When she opened her mouth to speak, no words would come out, and she had to really concentrate in order to speak.

"I don't care about her! Get Nate here, now!" She yelled angrily.

"Nate disappeared. I have no idea where he went, but I will try."

With that, David hung up the radio, and the voices turned back into harsh static. The female that she had spoken to had gotten out somehow. She figured some dumbass had opened the cage to shoot her instead of just releasing gas into the chamber to kill her. The solider had probably been cocky and arrogant, and the woman killed him.

As Sophie sat in the wooden chair by the table, she began to remember how the woman had spoken to her, and it sent chills over her skin.

"I feel hungry. I ate him, and soon I'll eat you. I bet you taste wonderful. I'll do it fast. You won't feel a thing!"

"I bet you taste good. I bet you do. I'll eat you first! Eat you first--"

As woman's voice filled Sophie's thoughts, She couldn't sit still any longer. If the woman was after her, she didn't have much time. She knew how crafty the infected could be, and she knew she had to get Andy to safety. Getting up, Sophie hurriedly walked to Andy's room, opening the door.

"Andy, we have to get out of here and hide, okay?" Sophie said in a calm voice.

Surprisingly, her voice was not shaking again, but she knew she couldn't show Andy how scared she was. It would just make him even more scared, and he could give away where they were hiding. Andy was snuggled up under his covers, and as she shook his shoulder, she was afraid that he was going to be dead in the bed, laying in a pool of his own blood.

Pulling the covers back, she saw Andy was fine. He was just enjoying the comfortable bed that he had been sleeping in, and as he opened his eyes, he smiled up at Sophie.

"Sophie!" He said happily.

As Sophie saw how happy he was, she knew she had to keep what was happening from him. Slowly, she brought his clothes that had been washed over to the bed, and she smiled.

"Andy, would you like to play a game with me?"

Nodding, Andy smiled and got his clothes on quickly.

"What game are we going to play Mrs. Sophie?" He asked, buttoning his little jeans.

"We are going to play Hide and Seek, but you have to promise that you won't come out until I say so. I'll show you where to hide."

Tilting his head to the side, Andy looked a bit confused.

"I promise, but if you show me where to hide, who will find me?"

Sophie stared back at him, and for a moment, she felt her stomach turn at the sight of his eyes. Her mind had gotten a glimpse of Nate with the same golden eyes, and she couldn't bare it. She didn't want to see Nate as an infected, and she most certainly didn't want to see the woman either, but she knew she had to deal with the situation at hand.

"Nate is going to find you. Come on. We need to hide!" Sophie said urgently, leading the boy through the house.

There were several places where she could hide him, but she needed somewhere that a nose could not sniff out. Being smart, she led him to several different hiding places, but instead of leaving him there, she moved him. The idea was to leave his scent in as many hiding places as possible, and if the monster got in, she would have to sniff around the entire house to find him.

After Sophie was satisfied, she finally lowered the stairs to the attic, and she led him up. She knew that he would be safe in the attic as long as no one lowered the stairs back down.

"Now, you have to stay up here. If Nate can't find you, I will come back and get you, but you have to promise that you won't come out. Don't lower the stairs for anyone but me, okay?"

Andy nodded, but Sophie could see that he was starting to get a bit scared. He was a smart boy, and she knew he had figured out that they were not just playing a harmless game. Something was wrong. With the best smile she could muster, Sophie reached her paw up and lifted his chin.

"I will be right back." She said reassuringly, but she didn't know if it was a true statement.

Walking over to the corner, Sophie pulled a battery powered lantern off the wall, and she brought it over to Andy. Turning it on, she could see that the bright light was calming him, and before she left, she also gave him a large blanket to wrap up in. It would keep him warm, and it would mask his scent for at least a few minutes.

"Thank you Sophie." Andy said in a small voice.

Slowly, Sophie nodded to him, and she walked back over to the stairs.

"Don't make a sound Andy. No matter what you hear. Please, be quiet."

Andy nodded to her, but she knew he was scared.

As she lifted the stairs back up into the ceiling, Sophie knew Nate would want her up there with Andy, but she had to find him. She had to find Nate and give him the antidote. In her mind, she had no idea how much time she had before the woman found her, but she knew she needed a weapon. Running to her Jacket, she pulled her hand gun out of the inside pocket, and she checked to make sure it was loaded. Taking the safety off, she took a deep breath to calm herself.

"Okay, stay calm Sophie. Think clearly. What do you need to do now?" She whispered to herself.

Grabbing the scissors, she cut the cord to the stairs that led to the attic. Now, if anyone wanted to get up there, they would at least need a ladder and a knife to pry open the entrance. There was food and more blankets for Andy upstairs, and as she threw the cord in the trash, she knew he was safe.

Slowly, Sophie turned around and began to walk back into the kitchen. She needed to get the antidote. As she walked through the hall, a cold breeze hit her face, and her whole body froze in place for an instant. Once she was unfrozen, she turned to see the front door wide open. Snow was flowing into the house, landing on the floor and melting immediately, but as she looked closer, she could see paw prints on the floor made with melted snow and blood.

Holding her gun closer to her body, she knew the creature was in the house, and it was toying with her. Slowly, Sophie began backing up into the kitchen. It was hard to watch every angle at once, but she knew that she had to keep her senses sharp. As she entered the kitchen, she knew it had been a mistake, because the smell of rotten meat and soured blood filled her nose.

Snapping around, Sophie caught a glimpse of the woman, but as expected, she no longer looked like a woman at all. Now, she looked like a feral mutt. Her head was low to the ground, but her teeth were bared to show dominance. Her fur was matted with the blood of soldiers, and instead of taking pity on the creature, Sophie pulled the trigger, sending a bullet right into the creature's shoulder. She had been too nervous and scared to aim properly, but as the bullet entered the creature, the infected roared in pain and lunged at the feline.

Guarding her face, Sophie felt the monster sweep her off her feet, sending her crashing into the floor. It had jumped right on top of her, and Sophie was trying not to panic. As the monster snapped its jaws at her, Sophie sent the gun and her fist crashing into the creature's jaw, making it howl in pain and run into the hall.

"Pistol whipped bitch!" Sophie said in panting breaths.

Holding the gun back up in front of her, Sophie began walking towards the living room to finish the creature off, but as she entered the hall, she could hear Andy's voice through the ceiling.

"Sophie! Sophie, I want out!"

Running into the living room, she could see the creature staring up at the ceiling, and it jumped up, swiping its large paws and scratching the ceiling. Its paws hit the entrance to the attic and left large gashes there, and Sophie began to panic. If the creature swiped one more time, the stairs could fall down. She needed to distract the creature.

"Come here you fucking bitch! Leave him alone!" Sophie yelled loudly.

As Sophie's voice rang out through the hall, the monster snapped around and began snarling in Sophie's direction. With one leap, the monster hit Sophie so hard that she went flying back into the wall, sending the gun out onto the front porch. Regaining her feet, Sophie was staring face to face with the beast, but she had no weapon.

With a snarl, the creature seemed to be smirking at her, flaunting her situation. Taking advantage of Sophie, the monster began running at her, but Sophie was a smart girl. She grabbed the first thing she could get her hands on--the bowl that was used for their house keys, and she sent it crashing into the creature's face. The bowl hit so hard that it shattered into pieces, but it didn't stop the creature from pinning Sophie to the floor.

Looking up into the creature's jaws, Sophie knew she was dead. She couldn't move, and the creature leaned down, sniffing her neck as if to tease her before the kill. Closing her eyes, Sophie knew it was hopeless to fight, but as the creature opened its jaws to bite, it began to back up.

Confused, Sophie watched as the creature moved off her, but as she looked down, she could see the creature was not moving voluntarily. Its claws were digging into the hardwood floor, leaving a long line of scratch marks. Leaning up quickly, Sophie could see Nate standing behind the creature. He had the monster by its tail, pulling it backwards, and he snarled in anger.

"Nate!" Sophie yelled.

Instead of looking at her, Nate kept his eyes glued to the creature. In horror, Sophie could see that Nate was beginning to change. The edges of his eyes were starting to gain the golden color, but he was holding onto the last shred of himself to save Sophie. With one hard pull, Nate threw the creature back against the wall. Nate was stronger now with the virus, and he was using it to his full advantage.

Screaming, the creature charged at Nate and sent them both rolling out onto the front porch. Sophie knew that Nate could hold the creature off, but she had to get him the antidote now and hope it worked. Running to the kitchen, she grabbed the syringe out of the fridge and took a deep breath.

"Now or never!"

Walking out onto the porch, Sophie could see Nate and the creature in the snow, rolling and fighting. The snow was beginning to get a red tint, but the blood was not from Nate. As Nate gripped the monster's jaws, Sophie watching in horror as Nate used his strength to twist the creature's head around, and a sickening crack filled the air, making everything still.

Roaring out in victory, Nate stood. Blood was covering his paws, and as he looked at Sophie, he smirked and licked his lips. He needed bite into her, and he couldn't stop himself. Walking towards her, he began to snarl, and Sophie held the syringe up in front of her. Her heart was pounding again, but she knew that it had to be done. She had to get the needle inside of him.

Getting down in a feral position, Nate looked as if he was going to pounce on Sophie, and she bent her knees, knowing it was impossible to run. She thought that if she kept her knees bent the tackle would hurt a bit less, and as Nate jumped from the ground, Sophie closed her eyes tightly. She didn't want to see him ripping into her flesh.

As her eyes were closed, she felt their bodies connect, but he hit her so hard that her breath was instantly knocked right out of her mouth. Her feet lifted from the ground in the same instant that her breath left, and she could feel herself flying backwards against her will. With a hard thud, she felt her back connect to the ground just seconds before her head did the same. Everything was a blur, but she could feel the cold snow all around her body.

There was a loud scream of pain, and the weight that had been on her chest lifted, but Sophie could hardly see. Blinking her eyes, she could see a blurry Nate standing above her, the needle in his chest. She had sent the needle right into his heart, and his heart had begun pumping the new white blood cells throughout his system.

Screaming in pain, Nate gripped the syringe, and he ripped it right out of his chest, throwing it onto the ground. His body felt like it was on fire, and as he felt his veins burst into flames, he began to scream louder, and he fell down onto his knees. The white blood cells were destroying the virus, and as he screamed, Nate could feel himself coming back to normal, but Sophie felt light headed. She could no longer stay awake, and with a weak voice, she called out for him.

"Nate." She whispered, trying to reach her paw out for him, but she felt her hand fall back in the snow.

Her head had hit the ground hard, and as Nate stopped screaming, he crawled weakly over to her, laying his head on top of her chest.

"Sophie." He said quietly, feeling tears rolling down his cheeks.

As the cold set in, Sophie felt the world spin, and the darkness covered her eyes. The last thing she felt was Nate's arm slowly falling off of her and into the snow.

__

Snapping her eyes open, Sophie was blinded by the bright light above her. She was still freezing, but she could feel a large blanket had been draped over her body, and as she sat up, she realized she had moved to quickly, and she had to hold her head to keep it from tilting.

"Where...Where am I?"

Looking around the room, she realized that she was back at the makeshift hospital. Missy was sitting in the corner, and as Sophie sat up, Missy's face lit up excitedly.

"You're awake! Oh my god, I was so worried about you. I'm no doctor, but I did my best to help you!"

Sophie was listening to the mouse squeak, but all her little chirps sent stabs into Sophie's head. It was almost as if she had a hangover. Rubbing her head, Sophie tried to take deep breaths. She tried to remember why she had gone to the hospital in the first place, and as she remembered the creature and Nate, She quickly jumped off the table.

"Where is Nate? Is he Alive? Did anyone get Andy out of the attic? How long have I been out for?"

Coaxing her back down into a chair, Missy grabbed Sophie's clothes off of the counter. It was only then that Sophie realized she was naked under the blanket.

"Sorry, I had to remove your clothes. They were soaking wet. You've been out for three days, and don't worry. David got Andy out of the attic when he found Nate and you."

"Is Nate alive?" Sophie asked frantically, pulling on her clothes as quickly as possible.

"I think you should see that for yourself."

Without another word, Sophie ran out of the hospital room. Running down the hall, she opened every hospital door she could find, and she tried to get his scent in her nose, but she couldn't find him. The last memory she has was him going limp, and she thought her antidote could have killed him. Feeling tears begin to roll down her cheeks, she was beginning to get scared. She couldn't pick up his scent anywhere, and as she got to the end of the hall, she cried out.

"Nate! Where are you?"

She had screamed in a frantic voice, and as her voice echoed through the halls, she leaned back against the wall and wrapped her arms tightly around her body.

"I'm right here."

Looking in the direction the voice had come from, Sophie saw Nate standing in the hall. There was a large smile on his face, and she ran to him as fast as she could, wrapping her arms around him quickly. Before she could think, their lips were locked together in a passionate kiss, and Nate tightened his arms around her waist.

"I was scared I lost you." He said quietly after pulling away from the kiss.

Laughing a bit, Sophie could feel the tears covering her cheeks. It was funny that he said that, and as she curled to him, she looked up into his eyes to see the bright blue had taken over once more.

"I could say the same thing about you." She said quietly, hugging to him tightly.

"I guess you'll have to make more of that stuff won't you? It obviously works." Nate said with a chuckle.

"I'll get right on that. I promise."

Smiling, Sophie began walking out of the building with Nate. She wanted to get some fresh air, and as they walked down the hall, she felt Nate put his paw on her stomach. She knew why he had done that. She was carrying his cub. They were finally going to start a family together, and as they walked out the front door, Sophie was amazed at what she saw.

For the first time in years, the sky had opened up to reveal the beautiful powder blue that she had longed so much to see, and as she looked from the sky to Nate's eyes, she knew there would be better days to come, and no more gray skies.
