The Spyro Wars

TSP: VA-1 ACI

Well here is the sequel to The Spyro Chronicles. This version I have been anticipating to write for a long time now and I am fiddling with ideas for it. It will be a change of pace from The Spyro Chronicles and Spyro is going to see more and get to explore a lot more now. He will get to see more then just his own realms. Well without further a due... the 1st installment of The Spyro Wars! Hope you enjoy. Oh yes,one more thing. I just wanted to add a little disclaimer and say that I do not own Spyro , Cynder, or any related Characters. However, the UER, Eatherine, Frost, Ivory, Lakadors and other related characters are mine so if you use or reference to them please ask.

Chapter 1: Peace Time?

Dragon Realms, Uncharted System

July 16, 2209

1100 Hours

1200 feet above the Dragon Temple.

A bird chirped as the sunlight hit the ground. The blue skies cast themselves over the Dragon Realms and the wind blew slowly through.

A dragon soared high into the sky and into a cloud. He was followed by another dragon, or rather a dragoness. She soared behind him as they both came through the top of the cloud.

"This time... no cheating!" The dragon said.

"What do you mean cheating?! I won fair and square!" The dragoness responded.

"You call a head start fair?"

"No, I call it winning." She darted through the clouds and down to the Dragon Temple below.

"Hey no fair!" The dragon called out after her as he gave chase. They both descended, the ground getting closer and closer as they went downward. The dragon started to catch up, but the dragoness smiled, made her body more aerodynamic, and sailed faster down.

The dragon growled and did the same. They were getting closer to the ground and they flapped their wings to slow down. The dragoness was about to land when the dragon touched down first.

"No fair! You cheated!" The dragoness claimed. The dragon laughed.

"Cynder... sometimes I don't understand you..." The dragon said to the black dragoness.

"Me? Spyro! It's you who I will never understand!" Cynder exclaimed to the purple dragon standing before her. It had been 5 years since they had defeated the Dark Master and silenced his forces for good. 5 years of peace, 5 years of resting, and 5 years of no evil. They had grown up a bit in that time, growing about a foot in that time. Spyro's muzzle had become more draconic and a small horn was starting to grow at the tip of his snout. It was small, barely noticeable in fact. Though other then his height changing and his body becoming more muscular, he was about the same.

Cynder had grown up a lot as well. She was growing up into a different version of her adult self. Unlike her former adult self, which was more serpent-like, she was looking a lot more draconic and slick. Her body was much more agile and Spyro would take this version over the other any day. The silver collar that Spyro had given her 5 years ago shown brilliantly. He still remembered the day that Lieutenant Jonathan Wagner gave it to him to give to Cynder before they left back to UER held territory.

"You know Spyro, you have to let the girl take credit... you did cheat." Another purple dragon walked up to Spyro at that moment. They turned to see Malefor, the former Dark Master, walk up to them. In the past 5 years he had grown up and he now spent his time with his mate, Eatherine. Like Spyro, Malefor had grown about a foot and had grown more mature. Like Spyro, he was trying to help as many people as possible. Spyro remembered when Malefor first appeared at the dragon temple 5 years ago. It was right after they had defeated him at the Final Solution. He had been an outcast back then. Now, he was as welcomed as Spyro was which Spyro was glad for. He had been given a second chance which Spyro felt great for.

"Cheat? How did I cheat?" Spyro asked with almost a scoff.

"Well, boys are better then girls so you should have given her a bigger head start." Malefor said with a grin. He got a small kick from Eatherine and Cynder shot him a glare. He laughed.

"I was only kidding..." He finally said. Eatherine smiled at him. Eatherine, his mate, was a black Earth dragoness with a green underbelly. She had also grown about a foot and was more feminine in appearance.

"I know you were, though you did need that." She said, moving her muzzle towards his.

"You really think so..." He said before they kissed. Spyro smiled. He was happy for Malefor. He was finally doing what he hadn't had the chance to do: Live.

"So what's new?" Spyro asked the two.

"Nothing. Ignitus is teaching a class right now and Volteer is fiddling with some ancient technology again. I swear, he never puts that stuff down!" Eatherine said to Spyro and Cynder. It was true, ever since Volteer had first really learned about Ancient Technology; he had been researching it non-stop. Spyro wondered if he ever slept anymore.

"Well, other then that, nothing else has really happened." Malefor finished.

"Anything new with you two?" Malefor asked.

"No... nothing yet." Spyro responded. Spyro shot a glance at Cynder and noticed she looked sad.

"Cynder? What's the matter? You look sad."

"Well, I was just thinking about the humans. They said that they'd be back and it's been 5 years. Do you really think they will be back?"

"I think they will. You never know Cynder, they may be on their way right now." Spyro said with a smile.

Malefor on the other hand cringed at the thought of facing the humans. He had made peace with the dragons and now had to answer to Marines? That was a big step up.

"Well, right now it looks like its anther normal day here..." Spyro said.

"Yeah, nothing ever changes around he-" Cynder groaned and they all looked at her. She fell to the ground, clutching onto her stomach. Spyro and the others ran over.

"What's wrong Cynder?" Malefor asked.

"We need to get her to Ignitus!" Spyro said. They nodded and carried Cynder into the temple. They found a group of younglings scurrying out of the dojo. Ignitus must have just finished the lessons for the day. They entered and found the dragon guardian standing near the middle of the room.

"Ignitus! Ignitus!" They yelled. They brought Cynder to him and he looked surprised.

"What's going on Spyro?" He asked.

"Its Cynder, something's wrong with her." Malefor said. Ignitus placed his hand on her and felt her. She moaned and Ignitus saw something that startled him.

"I will take Cynder back to her room. In the mean time you three round up the kids for their lesson with Cyril." Ignitus instructed. They nodded and went outside. The kids rotated sessions, some with Ignitus one day, or with Cyril the next. Many were going because of what element type they were. They managed to get the kids together and lead them into the dojo.

"Wait here, I'm going to check on Cynder." Spyro said to Malefor and Eatherine. The nodded and he ran over to where their room was. After they had defeated the Dark Master, the guardians had combined their rooms.

He came to their room. The door was locked. Spyro sighed and waited for Ignitus to finish. He heard the door open and turned to see the fire dragon coming out of the room.

"What's wrong with her?" Spyro asked. Ignitus frowned and first but turned it into a smile.

"Spyro... she's pregnant."

"She is?!" Spyro asked, astonished.

"Yes, one egg."

"How do you know?" He asked. Ignitus picked up his front paw. In-between two of his talons was a little white device. It looked weird, for Spyro had never seen it before.

"What's that?" Spyro asked.

"Before the Marines left, Wagner gave this to me. He said that when the day was right, to use it. It's a pregnancy test that Wagner had the medics modify for use amongst dragons. It reads positive."

"Can I see her?"

"Sure... she was a bit shocked as well, but I don't think it's too bad." Spyro rushed into the room and found Cynder lying on a bed that was made out of materials the humans left behind.

"Cynder! I heard about the pregnancy and I'm so sorry! I didn't think that-" Spyro rushed off.

"Spyro... its ok. I want to start a family. I think it was time that we started a family." She said back to him. Spyro smiled and crawled up onto the bed with her.

"Well, what should we name it?" He asked in a soft voice, a big difference from the worried one he had just used.

"I don't really know... I wish we knew the gender..."

"Well, how long until it hatches. Did ignites say?"

"We have about two months or so of developing then after I lay it, there will be another month of incubating. So all in all, about three months."

"Oh, I'm so happy..." Spyro said to her. She smiled and kissed him on the cheek. At that moment Malefor and Eatherine walked in.

"So, how is she?" Malefor asked.

"Better then ever! I'm pregnant!" Cynder announced.

"Oh that's wonderful!" Eatherine exclaimed. Malefor smiled.

"That's great news! Man... to think I'd be happy to hear this news after all I have put you guys through..." Malefor said. He frowned as he remembered the days that he used to be evil. It was strange hearing this news. Back then when he controlled Cynder, he would have never thought that he'd be here listening to this news. It was welcomed, but it brought up a past he would rather forget.

"Don't feel bad about it Malefor... you were evil back then and now your good. That's all that matters..."

"Yeah..." He said.

"Well, like Eatherine said, it's in the past now. Don't feel bad about it." Cynder said. Malefor knew that she had forgiven him, though it took her a while. However, Malefor knew that somewhere inside Cynder, part of her still held a grudge against him. He understood why. All the horrible things he had done to her... they even haunted him to this day. He could even feel the spirits of all the dragons he killed haunting him still. It was a horrible feeling. Though, he could also feel other dragons, protecting him. Maybe it was those that had forgiven him. Maybe, though Malefor was still searching for what had made him go evil in the first place. Most of that was a blur to him. Though, every time he thought back to that time, that figure that he saw back at the Final Solution kept popping up. Whoever it was, he had something to do with it. However, he still withheld this information from the rest of his friends. He didn't want to worry them.

"Well what are you guys going to name it?"

"We don't know... we are going to wait until it hatches and then we will name it."

"Yeah, that's the best thing to do." Malefor said. Eatherine shot him a glance. He caught it.

"What? What'd I do?" He asked, a bit startled.

"Well, they are going to have a family..." She began. He laughed.

"It's not funny..." She said while rubbing her front paw. Malefor smiled at her.

"Eatherine, if you wanted a family, you could have told me. I was sort of waiting for you to ask for one before I said anything. After all, it's your choice." She smiled and hugged him. He sighed happily. Cynder let out a chuckle.

"What?" Spyro asked.

"Well, think about it. We are seeing the Dark Master, of all dragons, falling in love!" She said with a laugh. Eatherine released Malefor and he frowned. Cynder saw this and knew why. She had reminded him of his days as the Dark Master.

"Oh, I'm sorry Malefor, I didn't mean to..." She said sadly.

"No, no, it's ok..." He said back. He was looking at the floor with a frown. Eatherine put her wing on him and brought him close.

Cynder frowned. Like Malefor, she was trying to forget her dark past. Though he had been shrouded in darkness for a lot longer then she had and had done things that some dragons still had trouble forgiving him for. She knew that part of her still didn't forgive him. As much as she wanted to, part of her would just never forgive him for his evil deeds.

"Well, just be happy that now everything is at peace."

"Yeah, it's well; it's good to finally be at peace."

"I remember the last time peace was here, before I became the Dark Master... Things were so grand, so peaceful. Those castles in the center of the Dragon Realms teemed with Dragons, Dragon Elders, the Dragon Council... Dragons ruled the lands and things were at peace. We traded peacefully, the only bad things that happened was when a few apes went out of line and a few robberies here and there. It's sad to see how far we have fallen and how much I screwed everything up..." Malefor began.

"Don't say that Malefor! You were turned evil by something and you couldn't control yourself. Now the dragon realms are peaceful and now we can rebuild. We have rebuilt. There are lots of dragons now and we can cope. What's happened has happened." Eatherine said. She brought his muzzle to hers and she smiled. He returned it.

"Thanks. That's why I love you so much, you always manage to make me smile."

"So do you..." She said right before he and she locked in a kiss. Spyro and Cynder smiled. During the 5 year period, things had really changed. The dragons had begun to retake the realms and some of the castles were already being repopulated. However, the central hub of the populace was around the Dragon Temple. Every so often a group of dragons would come in from the realms and ask to see Spyro. Spyro was a hero to them. He was a Hero to all species of the realms, not just the dragons.

Though, he didn't like being called a hero. He felt that all the Dragons, Marines and Lakadors that had died fighting the Dark Armies were the Heroes. Not him.

"Well, we are going to help Cyril with his lessons for the day. He wanted for us to make an appearance and there are dragons coming in from the north. I think it's a field trip. I think they are here to see you Spyro." Malefor said. Spyro looked interested.

"Hmm, probably just another interview or something."

"Well, you are the hero."

"I don't feel like one though..."

"Why not? You defeated me! You saved everyone!"

"Well, I just did what I had to. Wouldn't anyone else do the same?"

"Most would have broken under the strain or given up Spyro. You though, you didn't. You did what you had to do and saw it through. Even when I pulled out all the stops, you stopped me."

"Besides Spyro... you're always my hero..." Cynder said as she nuzzled against him. He smiled and walked to go outside. Malefor and Eatherine left the room and Spyro offered for Cynder to follow. She hopped off the bed and followed them outside. They went into the dojo where Cyril had a class started. He was showing them a bit of dragon history and Malefor and Eatherine helped show the younglings a bit as well.

Spyro and Cynder headed outside. They came out onto the Balcony and looked down below. At the base of the cliff that the Dragon Temple sat on, a small dragon village had sprung up. Using metals from the Human fighters, drop ships, and the destroyed Lakador cruisers, they built nurseries, homes, shops, and other buildings. It had a populace of 200 dragons. The other dragons were spread out across the realms. The dragons that lived here were guarantied protection with Spyro and Cynder around. The ones on the fringes of the realms were taking a bit of a risk. However, a dragon can fend for themselves so that's what drove them north.

Spyro spotted a group of dragons coming from the North and some of them landed in the village while another group came to the balcony. The group that came to the balcony was mostly younglings, probably 7 or 8 years old. There two adult dragons with them, one electric and one wind. The wind one approached Spyro and Cynder.

"Excuse me, but are you the mighty Spyro?" He asked.

"The one and only." Spyro said, a bit embarrassed. He never did like saying that.

"Wow, I'm Airialden. It's an honor to meet you. I brought these younglings here so they could see you and be taught by Ignitus. I must say it's astonishing to see the purple dragon who defeated the Dark Master. I hear he's still around here. Is that true?"

Many dragons far on the fringes of the realms still had a bit of trouble with Malefor being around, even though he was good now. Spyro suspected this group was from the city of Dale, a large abandoned dragon city that now has been repopulated. These dragons were notorious for still not forgiving Malefor. On their last visit, some tried to kill him.

"Yeah, he's around. He's good now so there's nothing to worry about." Spyro said. One of the little younglings walked up to Spyro. This one was very young, maybe 3 or 4 years old.

"Mr. Spywo, thank you for beating up that ol' meany." The little dragon said. It was cute, but Spyro was starting to tire of people talking bad about Malefor. True, he used to be a horrible dragon and was on the verge of destroying them all, but Spyro just wanted to forget all that.

"It was nothing really..." Spyro lied. Defeating Malefor was one of the toughest fights he had ever done. Even just fighting Wagner was tough. But Malefor was really powerful. They were all lucky to walk out alive. Spyro sometimes wondered how the Marines survived that fight.

"So where is Cyril teaching classes?" Airialden asked. The other adult dragoness with him tended to the little ones.

"They are inside the dojo, come on, we'll show you!" Cynder said. They all went into the dojo and found Cyril in the middle of giving a speech about the ancestors.

"Ah yes, Airialden, we have been expecting you. Oh do please come in, come in! You're kids can sit over here and we can resume the lesson." Cyril said to Airialden who nodded and the kids walked over sat in respective places. Malefor and Eatherine sat in the back. Spyro and Cynder walked over and Spyro saw Malefor yawn.

"Man, Cyril is almost as bad as Volteer..." Malefor said groggily.

"Just don't put them in the same room together, they bite!" Spyro commented.

"Well, we are just about done here... hey, you guys want to go into town and look around? I hear another shop just moved in from the north and they have some new stuff there!" Eatherine offered.

"Sure, better then listening to Cyril, I'll tell you that much!" Cynder said with a chuckle. Spyro smiled and they trotted out onto the Balcony and flew down to the village below.

The Village was split into two pieces, the Market, and the Residential. They were split by the Silver River and bridges spanned its waters for those who felt like walking or couldn't fly yet. The Market was cluster of metal shacks and structures that offered food, jewelry, blankets, and other little things that they managed to make from parts off of Human ships. The Residential was a lot of houses made from metal or stone that was moved in here. The homes were small, though many lead underground or some were fully above ground homes.

They went to the market and walked around. Some shacks were selling food and the aroma was intoxicating. It smelled good, but Spyro, nor the others, had brought any money with them. Money was golden gemstones. Spyro had a few, but he never remembered to bring them with him. The other colored gemstones were used for other means as well, red for health, green for energy, blue for even more energy, and purple for fury energy. Regardless, they could naturally make energy and fury energy, but the gems enhanced it. The Medical advantages of red gems were starting to show up, though it still had draw backs. Mortal wounds wouldn't be able to be healed by red gems and more gems were needed for more serious wounds. Though, mortal and serious wounds never happened around here so that wasn't a problem.

They walked around for a bit, looking at jewelry and other little trinkets. One dragon, along with the help of Volteer, found out how to get a computer from a downed Raven to work again and had it on display. The computer worked as radar when it was on the Raven and the dragon wanted to somehow use it as a security system. Once he found out how to make more, he would try to sell them. The only problem was, they didn't have the experience, tools, or real knowledge of how a computer worked. Some of the dragons cursed the humans for leaving. Some saw the humans as an opportunity to advance in technology, though they had always gotten by with Magic for years. And from what Spyro had seen, magic and technology were at even odds. During the fights, magic always had an advantage over tech and tech always had an advantage over magic. The two were balanced.

"There it is!" Eatherine shouted. They passed through a group of teenage dragons and found a shack that looked really new, parts of it were still not even finished.

The shack was selling some small trinkets. The owner was lying down in the back watching. They walked around and saw a few things that were curious. They saw a deck of playing cards that the dragon had found on a Marine.

"What are these?" Malefor asked as he picked up the cards. It was hard to keep a hold of them, for he didn't have a thumb.

"The guy I got them off of said they are 'playing cards'. You're supposed to play games with them using the numbers on the cards."

"How much are they?" Malefor asked.

"5 gems." The owner responded. Malefor handed him 5 gold gems and he observed the cards some more. Spyro looked around and saw something else. It was a box with an empty circle in the center. It looked like a piece of Ancient technology.

"What's this?" Spyro asked the shop keeper.

"Oh that, it's useless. Can't do anything with it. You can have it; I can't really see what you would need with it anyway." True, Spyro didn't have a use for it, but he knew Volteer would find a use for it. If it distracted him for another few hours, then that alone was worth it.

"I think I can find something to do with it." Spyro said as he placed it on his back. They left the shop and Spyro saw Malefor trying to make a game out of the cards. He was starting to get the hang of holding them, placing him in-between his talons. Eatherine laughed at him as he dropped a card and tried to pick it up again with his talons.

"So what are you going to do with that Spyro?" Cynder asked, refereeing to the piece of 'useless' Ancient technology.

"I am going to see if Volteer can't find a use for it. If it will shut him up for a few hours, then it's worth it." She laughed. They took flight off to the balcony and landed. They walked inside and found Volteer in the back of the dojo working on a big machine that looked like was built by the Ancients. A few of the dragons had crowded around him and watched.

"So Volteer, what are you working on this time?"

"I'm trying to find out how to work this confounded machine. I assembled this contraption from pieces of Ancient mechanical parts that I have located, though I am missing a piece..." They saw an empty box shape near the center of it. It looked like a big hollow circle, almost like a portal. Spyro then remembered the box he had got at the store.

"Hey Volteer, I picked this up in town. I was wondering if you had a use for it." Spyro handed the electric guardian the box and he looked at it astonishingly.

"Can it be? The missing piece?" He moved the box in front of the empty box shape.

"It is! The missing piece!" He put it into the machine and they all heard a whirling sound. Spyro and Cynder both stood in front of it and Volteer moved to the right a bit. The other dragons crowded around, though they were a few feet behind Spyro and Cynder. The circle filled with blue white light and a vacuum started to suck in items. It wasn't that powerful, though they all felt it sucking in the air.

Suddenly, it sucked harder and Spyro and Cynder were caught off guard and flew into the portal. They vanished in a fury of white light and were gone. The portal started to close and the machine sparked once and died. The room fell silent. Everyone looked around.

"What the- Where did Spyro and Cynder go?!" Malefor asked.

"I don't know... they could be anywhere... they could be somewhere in the dragon realms, or..." Volteer started.

"Or... what?" Eatherine asked.

"Or they could be on a distant world..."

The air cracked and Spyro and Cynder flew out of the portal. They hit the ground hard and the portal shut behind them.

"Ah... what the hell... Volteer, what... happened?" Spyro said as he looked around. They weren't in the dojo, or in the Dragon Realms for that matter. They were in a city. A destroyed one at that. The buildings looked familiar, and then it hit him. They were the same ones from the ones he had seen on Earth. These looked a bit different, but the architecture was the same. The buildings were all destroyed, rubble filling the streets. Metal vehicles lay in the streets, destroyed as well. An eerie silence filled the air. They heard a sound nearby and they snapped at it. Spyro had a bad feeling about this...

End of Chapter 1

Well there it was, the intro chapter to The Spyro Wars. I was going to withhold this longer until I finished the second chapter, but yet ANOTHER surprise road trip to San Antonio has upset those plans. Though it isn't a bad trip though, for I will only be there for about a day and will be back by tomorrow night. Also, it's cause my uncle undergoes surgery tomorrow so we are going to see him. I just thought that before I left I might as well let you guys enjoy the first chapter of the sequel.
