A little ghost story... Came randomly to my mind.

If you're helping your friend to move into an old house, be careful what you'll do.

  • And this is almost the last box, said Lin and sighed. Her friend, Giko the squirrel smiled to her.

  • I'm really glad that you are here to help me, Lin, he chuckled.

  • You're welcome. And I'm glad that the work is now almost over, she said. When she turned her head, she saw an old closet standing in a corner. It had golden handles and some kind of a symbol above the handles. It seemed kinda interesting; and mysterious, of course. Lin took a step closer to the old thing, and smell a scent that resembled strawberries.

Lin tried to ask Giko about the closet, but he was already outside getting an another box to carry inside. She shrugged, and grabbed the other handle. It wasn't even locked. She opened the door, and saw a tunnel. Dark, cold tunnel, which was located in a closet.

  • How weird, Lin whispered to herself. That tunnel reminded her about Narnia.

She placed her left back paw onto the floor of the closet. It was stone cold. She smell an old stone, when she took a step deeper into the tunnel. Wind blew Lin's face, which made her shudder a little.

  • How the wind could even blow here? she asked herself. Without any kind of thinking, she kept walking deeper into the tunnel. She wasn't even nervous what was coming. Maybe she would be scared, if she knew what kind of things she'll find.

SLAM!

The door of the closet closed loudly. Like someone closed it on purpose.

  • Don't come back, it's locked now.

Lin winced loudly. That wasn't her own voice; it was a voice of a young girl, and had a little echo in it. She stopped walking.

  • Keep walking, this is important, the girly voice screamed and made Lin wince again.

  • Tell me first, who are you, Lin said. Her voice quivered as she said that. High-pitched voice sounded like chuckling.

  • You'll see. Now, keep walking.

  • Why?

  • KEEP WALKING!

Lin started to walk again, not as a little while earlier, now she was nervous. Even scared. Being commanded by a voice of little girl wasn't the thing she expected.

As she walked forwards, she felt something like a gentle flow following her. It had to be the owner of the voice.

Walking forwards in the tunnel felt like forever, and the atmosphere was really tense. Lin waited that anything could happen.

  • STOP!

And she winced loudly for the third time.

  • What now? Lin asked, and sounded now a little annoyed. She heard only a sigh for an answer.

  • There's a door in front of you, can't you see? the voice explained.

Lin didn't see a door anywhere. Just the four walls around her. She placed her front paw in front of her; just trying was there a fifth wall or something else. Her finger hit a cold wall, which wasn't showing for her. That had to be the door which the voice was talking about.

  • Hey, is this the door? Lin blurted into the shadows. The voice laughed creepily. Seemed like it was.

Lin found the handle of the door, and pulled it down. Door opened with a terrible squeak. Behind that door was a hole in the floor. Really deep one.

  • What are you waiting for? Go! voice screamed and bumped Lin into the abyss. She screamed in horror and tried to grab the edges. Didn't work. She fell into a deep abyss, which was also really narrow to fall.

  • Too late! Now that's your incoming death! the voice laughed.

  • You bastard! Lin cried in horror. She didn't know why was this happening. Curiosity kills the cat; she was too curious about the closet. And everything was now over. Due to her own curiosity.

  • BOOM! someone shouted.

Lin hit the floor, which was really soft, like a extra-fluffy pillow. What in the heck was this all about? She tried to climb back up. Which is really difficult if is already laying back on a fluffy chassis.

  • Just kidding. You're not going to die. My name is Mei, by the way, giggled the voice which presented itself as Mei.

  • Nice to meet you then. Can you help me back up now? Lin asked, and tried to stand up. A brown paw appeared in front of her. She held it and Mei pulled her up. When Lin tried to take a step, Mei held her in place. The mysterious girl appeared in front of her. She was a hybrid animal looking small-sized creature, which had a light brown nightgown on. Only strange thing about the look of the girl was her black face. It was whole black, only two red eyes, and a white mouth.

  • What's happened to your face? Lin asked carefully, trying not to anger her. Mei chuckled sadly.

  • It's not the point of this trip, bunny citizen, she said, and sounded somehow sad.

  • So what is?

  • The Petal Dance.

Lin was confused. She didn't know anything about that thing. The Petal Dance. She tried to open her mouth for a question, but Mei smacked her ears.

  • Silly! You have to get me some pink petals, so I'll be free, Mei stated.

  • Where could I found them? Lin asked. She didn't see any flowers in that mysterious, dark place full of shadows and surprises.

  • Look around, I can't help you more, Mei sighed sadly. Then she evaporated and leaved a strawberry-scented flow behind her. Lin sighed. Some riddles again, but this time it seemed to be more scary. She finally stood up, and jumped off of the pillow-like thing.

The ground was cold and full of sharp pebbles. Lin looked around, but couldn't see anything than darkness. She squinted, and started to walk around as the pebbles stabbed her feet.

  • Ouch! she screamed when hit an extremely sharp one. She picked it angrily up, and got it close to her eyes.

  • Why you little- Oh, she noticed. Little pebble had some text on it. And a symbol. The same as the one on the closet. "Petal Dance petals are usually hiding under the ground" said the tiny text. Now she noticed what the symbol was; a rose. She had to find some rose petals for Mei's petal dance thingy.

Lin sighed and went to squat. She had to dig the pebbles off, because Petal Dance petals were reportedly hiding under the ground. She started to dig a hole, only with her soft paws. She kept digging a while, and then she saw something pink under a big rock.

  • So here they are, she giggled and raised the rock off. She took the petals on her paw, and stood up. Yeah, they were rose petals. Shiny, light rose petals.

  • Well done! she heard Mei's voice from somewhere. Then her head felt really painful, like as someone just punched her right into the face. She quickly put the petals into her pocket, and then collapsed on the ground full of pebbles. She tried to stand back up, and heard Mei's voice trying to say something. She felt too faint, so she didn't catch anything.

"Lin!"

"Wake up, Lin."

Lin heard someone saying her name. It wasn't Mei. It was Giko.

  • Lin, come on, Giko said gently as his friend woke up. She still felt dizzy.

  • Giko? What happened? The petals... Lin stuttered. Then she realized that it was a dream. Giko seemed suspicious.

  • Petals? What are you talking about? I think you need some rest, he said and sounded worried.

  • Yeah, I think I'll go home and rest a bit, she said quietly. She climbed up, and sneered. Her head was hurting horribly. She still stood up and took a step to the front door. She opened it, and walked outside.

She was really confused about her dream. It felt like it happened really. Then she remembered the petals - they were already in her pocket!

  • It wasn't a dream, then, Lin whispered to herself. She kept walking to the Winter Spa, where her brother was waiting. It was night already. And a full moon.

When she appeared on the spa, she quickly opened the door and ran upstairs, to her room. She closed the door, changed clothes and went to her bed. She tried to get some sleep.

  • Hey, Lin, I'm waiting for you on the hill, whispered a quiet voice. Lin winced when she noticed that it was Mei. She opened a window, and looked outside. The full moon lighted up the whole hill. Mei was sitting on it.

Lin quickly ran back downstairs, and opened the front door of the spa loudly. She ran as fast as she can, the hill was really close. She kept the petals in her paw, and squeezed them as she ran.

  • Mei! Wait for me, I got the petals, she shouted for the ghost girl. Mei turned her head and smiled happily. She bounced on Lin, and hugged her tight.

  • Thank you, Lin. Thank you so much, she said and sounded really happy. Lin heard that Mei was purring. She opened her paw, and gave the pink petals to the ghost. Mei took them, and let them flow into her another paw. She started to sing. A happy, beautiful song about rose petals dropping slowly into the spring. Then she started to bounce around, creating silver waves around her. Rose petals were flowing in the waves, soaring softly, while Mei was dancing.

  • The Petal Dance set me free, Mei piped. Lin smiled. She did the job done.

As Mei kept dancing with the petals, she started to fade away.

Then she was gone.

The rose petals dropped on Lin's paws. She squeezed them even more. They were a memento of the ghost girl. She started to walk back to the spa, feeling peaceful and free. She still could hear Mei singing. She smiled.

When she reached her room, she placed the petals into a beautiful, bluish bottle. Then she bounced onto her bed. She didn't want to sleep yet, but the tiredness pulled her force into peaceful sleep.
