Grandpa's story
An old man sat there in his recliner sipping on his hot coffee, warming his bones from the days work on the outside yard. Shoveling and moving snow out of the driveway from a blizzard that had ravished his town. Pomona wasn't that big. It was your average size town. It was mostly farm lands. He heard the door opened. "Dad you here?"
"In the family room Dan!" The old man yelled. A young dragon Anthro came around a cornered door way. "Grandpa." Yelled two voice. Two little dragon twins came racing past their father. The old man chuckled, "How my two favorite grandchildren? Now where's my hug?" The two hugged the him. "How was your day? I know today is your birthday. Take a seat please."
Dan sat carefully down on the sofa and let out a sigh of relief.
"Big day." He joked.
Dan growled, "You don't know the end of it. Kari has a surprise for me tonight. I came to drop Leo and Fiona. Kari is waiting for me so I need to hurry up and get back to the house. You got my email right?"
He nodded, "Yes I got your email, and yes I'll look over the kids tonight and tomorrow."
Dan quickly jumped up. So did his father. He gave him a hug and said his goodbyes and left. Once Dan was out of the driveway and gone, the two little twins turned to their grandpa. "Are you two hungry?"
They shook theirs head 'yes'. "Well let's go see what we can find."
The twins fallowed there grandpa to the kitchen and plopped their butts down by the table. "Hey grandpa how did you meet grandma?" Leo asked his grandfather.
He froze opening a cabinet. He turned around, "It's a boring and long story. You wouldn't want to listen to this old man's stories." They stared at him with interest. "Why do you want to know?"
"Well Dad found some pictures of grandma when she was still a live. I know she died a few years after we were born." Fiona told him.
Their grandpa sighed, "Alright I'll tell you a tale about how I and your grandma met."
Later the twins were sitting on the floor by a marble fireplace and their grandpa was sitting in an old recliner. "It all starts 47 years ago. I was one of the lucky ones to be selected to go on the starship Cosmos, operation space explorers. We had just launched from the orbit space station Nadasko."
I was lying on my bed in my personal quarters. I had littered my wall of picture of family and friend that I left at home. I look about my room. It was very small, about the size of a broom closet but a tiny bit bigger. My bed was bolted to the wall on the left side of the room. At the foot of my bed was the door out of my room. I sat up looked out the small window into the greatness of a space. I just stirred out there. Wondering what was out there. Waiting for us to find what it is to find. The door opened behind me. I looked around and Captain Elizabeth. I stood straight up and saluted her. She waved her hand, "At ease Thomas, I told you not to do that. My god we grew up together."
I relaxed and grinned at her, "Well I can't help it. It's just that I was trained to do that."
"Well train yourself to not do that. Anyways I came in here to personally tell you that our scanner picked something up. It looked like some kind of life form. I want you to take your Jagged Wing out there and find out what it is." She smiled at me and walked away. I turned toward my little closet. I opened it and got out my pilot suit. I quickly slipped in on and made my way down to the hanger bay. On my way I ran into Tyke one of my wingmen. He was quite small for a boy his age. He was 13 but only came up to my chest when he's standing straight up. He saw me and ran up to me. He was wearing his normal clothes of blue jeans and black shirt with a skull on it. He had bright blue eyes and had red heir. "What's up Tommy? Why do you have the pilot's suit on, are you going somewhere?"
"Yeah I'm heading out to check on something. Lizzy came to my room and told me that the scanner picked up on a life form not to far from our ship. I'm take my Jagged wing out to check it out." I told him.
"Wow that amazing. What kind of life did it pick up?" He asked me.
I shrugged, "I don't know at this moment. That's why I'm going out to see what it is."
He walked with me to the hanger. After getting there, I told Irma our lead mechanic to bring it up from the holding bay which was below us. She walked over to a panel and pushed a couple of buttons and a door opened from on the floor and an aircraft came up on a elevator. I looked my Fighter over from above. She was a beauty. It was long with two massive wings on ether side and one long rudder pointing upwards. The fuselage was at the usual place, at the front. It used two twin turbo jet engines on each wings. The wings that were on ether side of the long slender frame were jagged. When you are looking it from below each wing came up towards the front of the jet, Came about half way and going down towards the back. This was critical considering how much hard turning I do to shoot down my enemy's. I jump into my jet and was out of the hanger in no time.
"Just fallow the arrow on the scanner." Said Lizzy moments later.
I look about my cockpit. I looked towards the scanner and fallowed the arrow which was pointing east south. About an hour later I came across some debris.
"Hey Captain I think you may want to look at this." I pushed and flipped a switch that turned on the lights to my ship. "What is it?" I heard her say. "Take a closer look Thomas."
So I brought my ship a little closer. The scanners were going berserk. "It's looks like a star ship." I used a little nod to control the position of the light. Then I found a big sign on one of the flouting debris. It looked like a dragon head. It said. Drako star crosier, 'Star crosier huh?' "Tom go check it out."
So I lifted the hatch up that covered my cockpit. I push a button on my gauntlet and little jets kicked in and trusted me toward a little door. It took me awhile to avoid the other debris. I finally got at the door and opened it up. I look in, it looked like a chamber. So I went in and stop myself on a door. I look about the chamber and found a little panel on the right side of the door. I push a button on it and the door leading out shut and air start filling the chamber. I looked at my oxygen level of the room and it show all normal. So I reached up and pulled my helmet off. The door in front of me opened up. I saw body laying on the ground mulled and bloody up. I smelt the stench of rotting flesh. I exploder the ship and found something funny about this ship. There were no humans or humanoid aliens. But animal looking people covered the floor. As I walked through I heard a feint cry. Like a scream. I pulled out my gun and fallow the noise. The noise was coming from a closed door. I put my gun down and tried to open it but wouldn't move. So I grasp a long piece of metal and hoisted the door opened. What I found on the other side would change my life forever.
Grandpa's story ends.
The twin had fallen asleep on the sofa when the old man stopped his story. He cover the two and walk to his room. He got undress and ready for bed. Slipped into his bed and fell asleep.
