#18 of The Other Dragon World

The Earth Genocide Mode

Terrador, the eldest of the Guardians, was tending on his garden, while at the same time wondering why the plants were dying despite of him being very diligent on tending them. He didn't even feel any ail or anything about the plants.

Ignitus then came to the garden, seeing Terrador on a different reason. He said, "Terrador, something ails you?"

"No...no, Ignitus. It's just...the plants started to wither."

"The plants?"

"Yes.... It's...as if I never tend to them."

Ignitus then became calm for a second, and then he said, "If that's the case, then follow me. I've got an interesting thing."

Walking down the corridor from the garden, Terrador still became worried on seeing the withering plants around him which apparently Ignitus didn't even notice. What on earth was happening? Was the planet withering?

Reaching the main hall where the Guardians like to spend time together, Terrador realized the plants that decorated his statue also withered; despite of knowing he had given a special spell to prevent any anomalies to happen on the particular plant, most notably Volteer's involvement. But then, it withered. Not to the extent of death, but only not as fresh as it normally was.

"What do you want to tell me, Ignitus?" said Terrador straight to the point.

"The whole system indicated a particular mass of natural energy coming from a continent near Dragon Realm," said Volteer while the hovering holographic mass of the whole Dragon Continent had blinking lights over. "From the position, it's pretty high, and from the geographical scanner, it's at the mountain."

"Misty Mountain...," said Terrador while swinging his mace-end tail. "It's Dragon Continent, a neighboring continent from these island joints."

"For a continent, it's very small," said Volteer. "I thought it's very big like the mysterious continent we passed on...the black one, you know? Terrador?"

"Dragon Continent is the smallest continent in this World. But something bothered me..."

Terrador started to see his precious plant started to wither in a rapid state, alongside the whole plants in the room. Suddenly, the earth Guardian saw some plants wasn't withering, but reduced. They became smaller than they would normally be, but they were still fresh.

"What on earth happened to the plants?" thought Terrador. "What happened to my home?"

Terrador's concern also happened to Dragon Realm, when all of the plants nearest to the direction of Dragon Continent withered, but not too much. Artigan realized his flowers withered like a crumbling pillar of sand with no apparent reasons.

"Oh, I hate those parasites," said Artigan. "More and more underground.... I don't have more sprays left."

While walking outside, he took a glimpse of a bright light at the part where he saw some ice floating on the sea. It was an anomaly, really, but he didn't heed more than that, until Flame came running on all fours to in front of him.

"Artigan, the plants in Warfang started to wither!" exclaimed Flame. "What...the hell is going on there?"

"Something is definitely going on at that direction," said Artigan while watching the direction of the Dragon Continent. "Something...very unnatural."

"I don't know what is it, but judging from the light, something huge is happening there," said Flame. "I can feel powerful surge of energy."

"You've involved in many fights," said Artigan while patting Flame's head. "You'll know what is there."

"Yeah," said Flame with a nervous smile. "I...guess."

While Flame went back to the inn, at the same time, at Dragon Continent's Misty Mountain...

Spyro still felt like everything was heavier around him. At first, he thought he was done for. He imagined rocks coming down on him, crushing him while he only felt a small bit of sudden pain, and he would leave the world...to a place where pain and suffering never happened. To a place where Cynder waited....

"Irkras karhonas...the sun comes down midday...flowers of the night blooming...the winter wind passed..."

Incantation? Spyro was clearly hearing what the incantation said. It wasn't even a song or any poetry he knew, but then if it was...it sucked. Spyro never heard something that did not rhyme before. The incantation he ever heard in some movies didn't use common language.

"Lights glowing in the middle of a rock...fading as the rocks engulf it..."

The incantation still went on as if it never would end. Most of the incantation was unheard, but Spyro could hear them. The voice was clearly the dragon that he thought was the last dragon that would use incantations. That silver red...

"The light shines brightly...and as it goes...turns the rocks...into sand..."

The last part made Spyro opened his eyes and he realized Seraphor was clutching to him while shielding him from the falling debris. No falling rocks...but falling sand. It was raining sand and from his amethyst eyes he saw Seraphor's eyes, yellow as gold, was watching the sky with an expression of a satisfaction you could see to a dragon. He couldn't believe what he had just done. He even shifted his view to his counterpart, and said, "W...what did I just...incant?"

"Sera...you just...incant...a weird song," said Spyro. "But started with the ikras kahonas..."

"Irkras karhonas...no way...I...actually incant the whole line? I...I thought...it's the hardest incantation for an elemental magic release!"

"Dude, you incant them with common language," said Spyro while watching the sand. "Can you let me go? It's safe."

"Oh right."

After releasing Spyro, they both saw that the whole top of the mountain was like shaved off because of Seraphor. All of the sands came pouring down from the sky where the summit was there. The place they were standing was just a neat flat land.

"Let me tell you something, Spyro.... Irkras karhonas is the hardest incantation an earth dragon could have use. It used a complex ancient draconic language..."

"I heard that you incant with English and it was in a monotone deep voice," interrupted Spyro while cleaning his scales. "Also, your eyes were glowing."

"Glowing...Genocide Mode? I...enter Genocide Mode and incanted the complex spell?"

"Spell? Dragons couldn't incant! We just blast others away and...where's Malefor?"

"I guess you killed him."

"Yeah...on behalf of your help and my monster's help."

"Thank me later..."

"About the spell..."

"No, it's not a spell. It's just actually a translated incantation from my friend. I always sang about it, but I couldn't find the tone, so I just end up singing with monotone voice. But, if it didn't need complex language and tone, it was...the earth element genocide mode?"

"We can't be here too long. The sand is killing my eyes..."

Seraphor then fell again, and Spyro suddenly remembered that they both were still poisoned and of course they forgot their predicament for a moment because of being narrowly saved by Seraphor's powerful elemental changer power. Seraphor coughed blood and he suddenly became so weak that his glowing yellow eyes turned blue again. Spyro could still feel the pain, but what made him confused was that he didn't lose any stability and he could still stand on all four like normal.

"H...hey, your inner friend...saved you from this mess," said Seraphor while struggling to keep his consciousness and stability. "You should thank him...when there's a chance."

"Sera, stop! You can go on like this! If you forced that poisoned body of yours you'll..."

"You know I'm poisoned and yet...you are still standing there? Go find a goddamn...help!"

Spyro knew that was true, but he didn't even know where they were and of course where to fly to. All he could see was sea, and even from the height he still couldn't find any island. The only way to save Seraphor was to go down from the mountain and at least try to find a dragon that could save Seraphor...

"Kid! What the hell happened to Misty Mountain?! The top's just got chipped!"

"Uh...Terrador, how do you find me here?"

"Volteer gave us a reading on a god-like power that happened on top of the Misty Mountain," said Terrador while watching the ground, full of sand. "From the things happened here, a certain dragon made fool of you, right?"

"It was Malefor," said Spyro with disgust. "Malefor made all of these?"

"I believe he's apprehended for?"

"He's a goner."

"Right...so, this is the terraforming elemental magic," said Terrador while scanning around the place. He was like feeling the sand, and from the look of it, the sand was very soft, not like the rough sand that got washed ashore at the shores. Not only that, the sand corresponded to the rock's color, and Spyro realized his counterpart just turned the top of the mountain into sand, in the way that saved them both.

The purple dragon took glimpse on some colorful sands, and he knew he was wrong, so as Terrador, that saw the colorful sands in awe and terror.

"Th...the silver dragon...he...he disintegrate everything into sand? No way...but why didn't you get disintegrated also, kid?"

"Sera...shielded me with his whole body why he incant the magic. It's like as if he knew the consequence of doing the powerful magic, so he..."

"No earth magic can do this," said Terrador while examining the sands. "Although earth dragons could do the terraform-type of magic aside from normal rock magic and more organic plant magic, there's no way a sudden disintegration could occur on organic material. Carbon couldn't get disintegrated in any way...but is this happened when he absorbed the plant's life?"

"What do you mean?"

"In Dragon Realm, all plants withered, and in this continent, the small plants around this place died. I suspected he absorbed earth's life to power up his earth disintegration power and turn anything unshielded to dust. Something...something uncommon for a magic."

"I...I was born with the power...to absorb natural...energy based on...the same element," said Seraphor when he heard their conversation. "A...little help here?"

"Oh yeah! Terrador, he needed treatment from the poison from an earlier fight! I can't find any seeds from this barren wasteland!"

The earth guardian then quickly put Seraphor on his back, then opened his wide wings. He started to beat away toward Dragon Realm, while saying, "If you can't keep up, you'll be lost."

"I can't fly."

"From the mountaintop, although chipped, it's enough to glide back to your place, but I can't guarantee where you will land. Take a higher jump before you glide."

When Spyro opened his wings, Terrador beat his wings and flew forward, while Spyro ran toward the edge, and jumped. Opening his wings, he started to glide away toward Dragon Realm, relieved that everything ended well.
