#17 of The Other Dragon World

The Battle of the Corrupted

"You! Where did you come from?! You took the whelp's body?! What are you?!"

Shyplis didn't immediately reply, but he turned and took Seraphor's unconscious body outside to the wall with his front legs. After doing that, he turned his head and said, "My duty as a purple dragon is my only identity. You can just ask me as many question as you can, but you'll get the answer of 'I don't care' for almost every answers, as I've died and you're too."

"I? No, I'm not even dead, you ancient dump," said Malefor in a not menacing tone. "How about you? It seems that you're corrupted by the darkness too severe."

"Oh, you mean about this darker scales?" said Shyplis while referencing his scales. "No, it's not even a big deal. It's just a memento, when I slowly became what you've became."

"Talking wisely? So know you're the classic hero type?" said Malefor while chuckling slowly. "Let me tell you one thing, though, whatever you are. You're tainted, yet you still want to fight me, another tainted one. How about if you collaborate with me, making a whole new world together?"

Shyplis at first grinned, then chuckled, after that saying, "I can be tainted, but being tainted more is not my thing. Everything I've done up to this point is like a restoration from addiction. I want to give love, not hate."

"Then we can't become partners, then. That whelp is also tainted, but then he'll be a better candidate for my..."

"He's tainted, but he's now a grown dragon, and thus, it's the time when he was tainted most, releasing you, his Darkness, out to this world, and me, a dragon revived from the past where he wasn't intended to be revived. It's my duty to stop your onslaught."

"Hah! Tell that to your scales! I'll finish you and that small dragon!"

Malefor lunged forward and stopped in front of Shyplis. Their front legs met, and this made the vile dragon fascinated.

"So, you also can do close combats!" exclaimed Malefor.

"I'm a strategist in my time, but this can do."

Using his tail, Shyplis made a tail whip when his lashing tail tripped Malefor's back legs and with a roar, threw Malefor to the ceiling. He shattered the rock ceiling, but it was actually a ruse for Shyplis to throw a fire ball directly to Malefor and manipulate it to make a fire blanket around Malefor to burn him. Unfortunately, Malefor parried it with his own fire.

Without even have time to relent, Shyplis ran in an almost similar way to Spyro when ramming, and Malefor was caught unaware and he was thrown to another room. They again fought in close combat. Again, Malefor used electricity, but Shyplis got the right time to condense them into one spear-like electricity rod that he tried to impale Malefor with, but again, his darkness element stopped it.

"Playtime's over," said Malefor while putting his left front on Shyplis' head. "Have a pleasant nightmare!"

Shyplis felt the whole fear he got in his previous life became apparent and he felt he was drawn into the worst nightmares he had ever endured. All of his painful memories flashed through his mind, while he experienced them in a more gruesome way. The dark purple dragon could get out from the flash illusion only after Malefor managed to put a shallow three scratch marks to Shyplis' abdomen, but Shyplis was too late to block the wind cutter Malefor used on him, giving both cuts and gash on Shyplis' body, penetrating his scales. The attack also made the poison effect started to overwhelm him and making Shyplis lost his well-found concentration. But then, without being seen by Malefor, he grinned with an almost manic kind of grin a dragon had.

Thinking he had won, Malefor ran and lunged on him, successfully biting the dark purple. But then, Malefor saw the manic grin and the red glowing eyes, when he realized his mistake too late, even after being stabbed through the chest. Malefor couldn't even move, and coughed many blood to Shyplis, staining his white hair to dark red. Below, he saw a very sharp thing went through his chest, missing his heart. The thing was stained in blood, but then, Malefor knew what had stabbed him.

It was sharp overgrown thorn seemingly growing out from the rock.

"W...what..."

"I'm not fighting alone, you see," said Shyplis. "And also, you did forget the one having this body."

Shyplis returned back into Spyro. Although Spyro seemed dazzled as he thought he was unconscious, he knew the 'monster' inside him managed to fatally wound Malefor using his plant attack. He realized it's the only chance he could defeat Malefor. Ignoring the pain from the poison, he concentrated to do the final kill.

"You won't kill me, you whelp!" said Malefor with a laugh. "I'll be inside you, always! In your past, and your future! You can't run from me, Spyro, not while you're alive!"

"You're scared of death, that's all. I've heard so many about those shits in movies, and I'm going to stop that! Die, motherfucker!"

In a flash, Malefor's body was pierced from the inside by the rapidly growing plant Spyro forced to grow from inside Malefor. The vile dragon didn't have time to even make a last roar of agony when his throat was pierced through his mouth, his eyes, and his tail, impaling him both vertically and horizontally, skewering him. A big volume of blood rained down to Spyro, as he saw Malefor's body and blood disappearing like smoke.

The triumphant moment was interrupted when Spyro also coughed blood and his body became very weak because of (what he thought) releasing his rage, and also because of the same poison Malefor gave to him. He knew luck was not on his side when he knew the whole mountain base started to crumble and the small dragon heard of them shouted that a failure on the dark energy happened. Seraphor had done his job well, and seeing the calm unconscious dragon's expression, he knew the silver red knew they couldn't go out with any mean possible without any savior. Spyro could say the Guardians sensed them.

"But then," he thought trying to move. "No dragons knew we're here.... We're fucked up."

By the time he struggled to Seraphor and touched him, he felt a sensation of warm, knowing that Seraphor was like his other brother and also himself. He knew his counterpart, too, seek peaceful death outside from his world, seeing his physical condition and most of his memory. After losing most of the energy, he then fell to the ground, closing his eyes, and only hoped for the best...

When, unknown to him, Seraphor was awake and murmured, "Irkras karhonas..."
