Summertime nights (chapter 2)

Story by Lin Skies on SoFurry

, ,

Tuesday morning was pretty warm. A perfect weather after a night shift on Winter Spa. Lin and Len had to sleep at the spa, though.

  • Morning, Lin, said Len with a sleepy voice. Lin raised her head from a pillow.

  • Morning... Is today's shift long? Taking all day? Lin said sleepily and yawned. Len started to laugh. His sister had such a poor memory - Tuesdays are day offs.

  • Tuesdays are day offs, silly, he chuckled. Lin grinned. She forgot about the day offs.

  • Alright then, it's a great weather, so I go for a morning walk, she exclaimed and stood up. Len tried to understand his sister; how came that she takes a walk on every good weather?

  • Lin, you can't be serious, he said.

  • And you can't be either. How could you sit inside the whole time? You're such a fool, she laughed. She had enough of her brother's moaning about everything, so she routed him out and started to change clothes. She undressed her purple work outfit and scarf, and put them into her wardrobe. She took out a dark purple T-shirt and blue shorts. She wore the clothes on, and walked to the front door.

Everything seemed peaceful outside. Birds were singing, and there was some walkers around. Lin smiled. Maybe she could find John again.

When she turned around, she saw a tawny tail on the roof of the spa. And then the tail was gone. She looked suspicious.

  • Is someone trying to hide there? Or did I see a delusion, she said to herself. After a little thinking break she shrugged, and started to walk along the dirt road.

When she reached the town square, she almost forgot about the tawny tail. She whistled as she happily walked around, and thought about John Coalfur. She walked around while looking joyful and almost bouncing. Life seemed good. She even enjoyed her job, which was sometimes really laborious. All the guys around were looking pretty cheerful, too.

Lin wanted to see John somewhere in the crowd, and go hanging out somewhere. Swimming would also be a nice entertainment to them.

  • Lin!

Lin heard her own name, shout'n from somewhere. Seeing him or not, she recognized John's voice. She smiled as she noticed it. She joyfully turned around, and saw John in front of her, smiling gently, with only green shorts on.

  • John! Hi, she giggled as she looked into John's green eyes. Lin had a big smile on her face.

  • Hello, how's the hammer hanging? John asked with a kind smile.

  • Good, as you can see. And you?

  • The same as you do. You seem to be the most joyful gal here.

Lin didn't answer him, but she showed a sweet smile to him. She really wanted to go to swimming with her mate, but didn't know how to ask him to.

  • Have you anything planned for tonight? John asked suddenly.

  • N-no, but I just wanted to ask, if you want to come to swim with me, or something, Lin replied, but said that pretty quietly. John hardly heard it. He also saw that Lin's face was pretty red already. John knew exactly the feeling; he felt the same when he asked Lin to visit his place.

  • Sure! Where do you wanna go? he piped, and sounded cheerful. Lin was relieved.

  • I know a lake which is not very far away, we can go there, if you want to, she explained. Their friendship was going forward. They both were happy about it.

  • Of course. Show the way and I'll follow, he chuckled. Lin giggled.

They started to walk to John's place, going to get his beach stuffs. As they walked forward, chatting happily, the long way didn't feel as long it was. When they reached John's house, Lin's phone rang.

  • ...Yes? she said to the phone. The one who called was Len. He tried to persuade Lin to go to a shop to buy some chips.

  • Len, PLEASE, I don't have time for that, she blurted, and sounded annoyed. When the siblings were arguing about the shopping, John packed his beach bag and poked Lin's head when he got ready.

  • Yeah, I gotta go now. It's none of your business, she smirked to Len and closed the phone.

  • Ready to go? John asked.

  • Yes, I'm ready to go to the spa to pack my stuff, of course, she chuckled, and they walked to the vestibule. John opened the door, and Lin bounced outside. John locked the door, and the walking began again. Weather was warm, which made them both feeling too hot under the fur.

  • I'm glad that we're going to swim, John chuckled and started to heave loudly. Lin agreed to that, and they kept walking.

There were couple of clouds on the sky, not as much to make rain.

  • Phew, here we are now, Lin said and wiped sweat off from her forehead. They walked into the spa, where Len was waiting for a one who could go to the shop and buy chips. Lin wasn't that one.

  • Please don't waste time to talk to my brother, he's pretty... plain, Lin whispered. John nodded and followed Lin to upstairs.

  • Could you please go away from here for a while, I'm changing here? Lin chuckled. John smirked, and closed the door.

Lin took blue bikinis which she wore on. She tossed the clothes on the floor and took a towel into her grey bag. She opened the door, and saw John waiting for her.

  • Let's go then if you're ready, John exclaimed and grabbed Lin's soft paw. Lin smiled. She seemed like she liked John pretty much.
