Chapter 3

On a space station orbiting Cyrex 6

A rabbit government researcher is going through the archives doing research. He gets to records on a planet that has been destroyed by their own people and reads.

"Local designation Earth. Populated by humans. Condition unlivable due to radiation. Languages database intact and being used. That is interesting. The High Council will be interested in that."

Several cronars later the researcher goes to the chamber of the head of the high council and gives his report.

"Sir, The planet the research team want to experiment on is a planet called Earth. It has a large radiation problem that has destroyed most of the life on it. I have all the information on it and one piece is interesting. The language is being spoken on Cyrex 3."

The councilor says, "Wasn't there information that a new species of intelligent being arriving on that planet about a year ago."

"I heard the rumor, thinking it was not true."

"Well, it true and I have seen the reports. We will have to look into speaking to them before we can make any decision on that planet.

On Cyrex 3

I get up and greet the day. Doc has gone out to work and me and Jasmine are working on the language with me as a tutor. I hear the vid phone go off and Lisa answers. She gets off and I ask her who was on the phone.

"A member of the High Council wanted to speak to Doc."

I do a little research on The High Council. They are the ruling faction in the Planetary Federation. I wonder what they want with Doc.

That evening Doc comes home and receive the message. He straightens up and makes the call. After hanging up he talks to us.

"Andrew, Jasmine, the High Council wants to ask something of you. They wouldn't tell me over the Comm but they will be here in the morning."

I wonder what is going on and so is Jasmine. I put it out of my mind till the next morning.

The door announcer goes off after breakfast and at the door is three furs. One is a rabbit in official looking robes, the second is a wolf in scientific looking clothes and a ferret that looks like a guard. The rabbit comes in and sees us with a little surprise.

"Real live humans, here on Cyrex three. If I wasn't already engaged in a project, I would study you." The scientist says.

"We have been studied enough, thank you."

The council member then speaks, "What are your names?"

"My name is Andrew and my companion is names Jasmine."

"My name is Cargoth, and this fellow is named Granthor. We are here to ask you about your planet."

"Ask away, we were told it is a dead world."

"It is but we hope for not much longer. We have developed a technology to seperate radioactive material from other material. We wish to use it on your planet as a test subject."

Jasmine pulls me back and speaks, "What do you have in mind?"

"We are hoping to use it as a resource for raw materials since it is a dead world."

"Can't something be done to revive the planet."

"I can show you what is left of your planet from robotic survey missions. May I use your Comm."

"Go ahead."

Granthor head for the comm unit and makes a call. We surround the comm and look at the devastation that war has brought. I expected blackened areas but I see a lot of green."

"This was a flyby of eastern coast of one of the land masses. As you can see the devastation is great. What didn't die from direct attack died from radiation exposure."

"I see plants still survive."

"Plants have mutated and you would not recognize them if you saw them."

"Still I would take the risk. The planet can be rehabilitated and used as a colony."

"Then it is agreed upon, We shall rehabilitate the planet and use it as a colony world. Agreed.

"Agreed."

"Agreed but on one condition. Nothing leaves the planet without authorization. I know that Dactaries are based on platinum, gold and silver. We don't want anyone running off with stuff that belongs to us Humans."

"How much platinum, gold and silver are we talking about."

"Hundreds of thousands of bars from this big to this big secured in vaults is thousands of cities on my planet." And I show the sizes of bars by my hands being held out.

"By the spirits, that could undermine the economy if that much gold, silver and platinum got off the planet."

"See what I mean, I hope that I don't hear anyone stealing what is ours."

Cargoth turns to Granthor and says "Can your machinery be used to find these gold, silver and platinum deposits."

"I can add sensors to detect these metals and mark their locations on a map and when the planet has been cleaned of radioactive particles we can bring them all together in a central location."

"How long will it take to add these sensors."

"30 days at most."

"You might want to add iron and aluminum to the list."

"Why those metals, Andrew?"

"Our major cities are mostly made from iron alloys. Find large iron deposits and you will find most of the others in underground vaults."

"I see."

"How long till I can step foot on my home planet."

"It can be as little as 4 years but as long as 10 years for the land masses depending on the weather and for the water another 6 years because of its depth."

"Start on the land and fresh water sources. Once that is established, the oceans will be next. I want regular reports from you guys on your finds."

"Would you like to be there when we start this operation?"

I turn to Jasmine and ask, "Would you like to be there when they restore the Earth?"

"Yes, I would."

"We be delighted to be there."

They take their leave and we return to our normal routine.

Thirty-five days later we are on a cruiser headed for Earth. I am on the command bridge watching the stars go by as we travel faster than the speed of light. We are only one of several ships in a convoy heading there. There is us with the scientists and diplomats. There is two cargo carriers and two military escort vessels. Two days after leaving orbit of Cyrex 3 we arrive at Earth. I get a view of earth on the North American side and I get them to zoom in on an area where I think New York and Washington D.C. was and I see is green from those areas. I zoom in on other areas and see more green from California to Florida. With a little disgust I retire for the night.

The next morning I awaken and the two of us prepare for the ceremony. We head for Scientific control and at the pre-appointed time me and Jasmine push the button to start the landings of the screener craft. One hundred thousand small containers leave the cargo carriers and begin to land in pre-designated locations on the planet. Once down they begin to work. We begin to celebrate.

"So Andrew, how are you feeling?"

"I feel happy that my planet is being returned to life but sad about all the loss. 6 billion people died and we are left to mourn them."

"I would be sad coming back to a dead world."

"I am but we can bring it back to life."

The celebrations last for 2 cronars with speeches from important officials and ending with a word or two from me.

"I wish to thank the scientists who in part is bringing us this miracle. When I first arrived on Cyrex 3 I was told Earth was uninhabitable. Then the news that earth can be restored. I am happy that I can return to my planet of my birth. Thank you all."

That evening we transfer to one of the escort vessels and head home to Cyrex 3 and arrive the next day. Me and Jasmine return to a normal routine.

Thirty days later and we are back into the lab and the two of us watch as the machine is activated. Several moments later another flash illuminates the room and I see four people in the portal room. Two adults, one male, the other female, a child about five or six and a infant in a stroller. The system is shut down and four of us check on the new arrivals. All four are alive and hurt. All four are loaded into ambulances and sent to the medical center. I climb into one ambulance, Doc into another and Jasmine into the last one. The patients are sedated and brought in and I step back and watch as all four are worked on. The three of us go to the waiting room and discuss something.

"What are we going to do with four more humans. I don't have the room for all of them."

"We could put them in Jasmine's room and Jasmine can move in with me."

"What are we going to do if there is more humans brought over here from your time."

"That could be a problem. Every time we contact Earth, we get a human."

"I don't know what to do."

The doctor comes out 2 cronars later and announces that they are healed and resting. I goto the adults room and wait for them to wake up and Jasmine goes to the children's room.

Cronars later the two adults wake up.

"Hello, My name is Andrew and I need to ask you two some questions."

"Go ahead."

"What is your names?"

"Michael and Julie Bates. Where are our children."

"They are is the children's ward being cared for. They were hurt, too."

"Where are we?"

"You two might not believe me. We are at the Regional Medical Center in the city of Landsrath on the planet of Cyrex 3."

"If that is true what year is it?"

"I don't know what earth year it is because the Earth was destroyed but the local calender..."

"I don't believe you. What happened to the earth?"

"A nuclear incident between nations because of religion."

"Then how are you being here with us."

"I was kidnapped on June 7, 2015 by E.T.."

"Are there other Humans here."

"My friend Jasmine was kidnapped the next day. What day is it today?"

"July 9, 2015."

"Would you like to meet one of these E.T.'s They are friendly and familiar looking."

"Do they look like those seen from Roswell?"

"I haven't seen one of them, yet. Doesn't mean they don't exist."

"What do they look like?"

"They look like humans with animal faces and tails. There are foxes, rabbits, wolves, ferrets and even skunks."

"I am ready to see them, are you dear."

"I'm ready."

"Just one thing, They speak a language called Galactic Standard. Its easy to learn and it took me a year to learn it all. I'll bring in Doc. He is the one that helped me and will help you with everything that you need to learn while you are here."

I go out and retrieve Doc and after my explanation they are not as shocked as I was when I saw them the first time.

We continue talking about everything and a doctor comes in and examines Michael and Julie. The doctor then tells us of there injuries and berates Doc for allowing them to happen. I ask the important question.

"Doctor, using ancient technology would we have survived."

"No, You two had radiation poisoning and we created the cure for that only six years ago. I doubt that you humans have it any sooner."

"Would it have killed us if untreated."

"Slowly and painfully. I doubt you would have lasted a year."

That tells me that we can never go home and live long enough to tell the tale.

"Can we go and see our children."

"You two should rest, I will have them brought to you."

In the children's ward.

The little boy starts to wake up and see Jasmine.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Jasmine. What is your name?"

"Matthew. Where is my mommy and daddy?"

"They are nearby. They were hurt as you were. The doctors have made you all better. Do you have a baby brother or sister?"

"Her name is Lilly. We were going to the playground to play. We didn't get there did we."

"No. My friends found you and took you to the hospital to make you all better. Would you like to meet one of the nurses."

"Yeah."

"She is a little different than people that you have seen." and Jasmine goes to the nurses station and retrieves a rabbit nurse.

Jasmine returns to Matthew's room and warns the nurse on possible reactions to her being seen.

"Here is one of the nurses." and the nurse enters.

Matthews eyes go big and the first thing out of his mouth is, "The Easter Bunny is my nurse!"

The nurse turns to Jasmine and inquires, "Easter Bunny?"

Jasmine then tells the legend of the Easter Bunny and how it has turned to a creature looking like her.

"My name is Malta and you are going to be one of my favorite patients."

Malta leaves and Jasmine and Matthew speak of things. Fifteen cronacs later, Malta returns with a wheelchair.

"The doctor wants to reunite mom and dad with the kids. The baby has already been transferred. Now it is your turn. Do you want to ride in the wheelchair or walk?"

"I want to go in the chair."

Matthew climbs into the chair and Malta pushes him through the center. They arrive at the room and enter. Matthew looks at mommy and runs out of the chair and onto the bed.

"Mommy! I was so scared that I would not see you again. Then I met the Easter Bunny nurses. And the foxes and the other animal people. They speak funny."

"I know, Matthew, I know."

"Matthew, How would you like to live here with the animal people."

"Really, but I have so many friends back home."

"You can make so many animal friends like the nurse that brought you here and there are many children in the schools"

The doctor comes back in and examines both Matthew and Lilly and gives them a clean bill of health and sets to release them tomorrow. A third bed is brought in and set up for Matthew and Lilly's bassinet is off to the side. The three of us head home and move some stuff and set up a crib that we pick up at the department store.
