a painful memory...(my first big story idea)

author's note: please keep in mind that this is a rough draft for the intro to a story im working on. the main characters are a pair of twin snow leopards. feel free to let me know what you think about it. its one of my first major story ideas
p.s this is a flash back intro and i intentionally wrote it with little detail about key parts in an attempt to catch the readers attention and kind of hint at future events.
i remember that day so clearly...i remember that hopeless feeling deep in my chest. it felt as though it had been pierced by a curl, barbaric spear. all i could do was look on in shock and horror as my sister pulled out her field knife. a dark yet sarcastic grin inched across her face as the blade shined against the dim moonlight. i could see the pain in her eyes. i could see the conflict deep inside her. a war between herself and the intruder who ravaged her body and tried to seize control of her mind. she was the stronger of our pair but then you would have never know just by looking at her. she dug her nails into the ground in preparation for what came next. a few seconds later blood splattered across the ground. her one white fur was now soaked in red. the knife had gone deep into her side, probably rupturing vital organs, but instead of letting out a cry of agony she burst out in triumphant laughter. i think i felt the pain of the injury more than she did. but then again i always did. after all we did reflect each other. i couldn't help but cry. a second look at my sister and i could see that she too was crying through the laughter. i wanted so bad to reach out and grab the blade from her and help her to her feet so we could run together and finally escape this horrid place. as i tried to advance towards her she took an angry swipe at me with her paw. "get the hell outta here!" she roared at me. "do you want them to get a hold of you too?" "but i cant do this without you sister..."my voice cracked through my tears as i tried to retaliate. "either you go now or my sacrifice will be a wasted... don't you dare me me regret this!!" she roared at me with all her might. then i could hear the dogs in the distance and urgent voices stampeding through the woods towards us. i tried one last time to reach for her but again her powerful paw, this time claws drawn, slashed across my cheek. "GO!" knowing now it was too late i ran screaming "i'll come back for you ! i promise!" i ran and ran as fast as i could making my break for the perimeter fences...
