#2 of Howls in the park

The young girl woke up to the familiar smell on the pillow she was sleeping on. She inhaled deeply to try and get a good smell before realizing she wasn't in her own bed. She jolted up. She was stunned to hear the loud snoring coming from the other end of the door way. Still a bit disorientated with the unfamiliar environment, she timidly got out of bed. Peering down she saw that someone had changed her out of her clothes during the night. She squeezed the boxers in embarrassment - her face heating up as the blood flowed to the surface. She slowly sneaked toward the bedroom door, scared to see what was on the other side of the door, noticing the note on the door; she inquisitively began to read it. She dropped to the floor as she remembered the events of the previous night. She lay on the floor huddled in an almost fetal position while she finished reading the note. She lay still on the floor for over ten minutes, quietly weeping under the sounds of the snoring from the lounge. She felt dirty and all she wanted to do was get into a shower and scrub the filth off of her body. Wiping the tears from her face, she decided to venture into the next room. The door groaned on its rusted hinges as she tried to open it. A few feet away on a red couch lay the young man - passed out. His one arm was stretched off the couch while the other covered his eyes as he slept; His mouth lay wide open with his tongue lapped out the side. She couldn't help but stare at him for a few moments. She found it difficult to believe that she was rescued by such a comical looking character. But she was none the less grateful. The apartment was a huge open planned room. The kitchen and lounge separated by a small island. It was not over populated with furniture and was quite clean. In the lounge was a bright red sofa - the one he was sleeping on, a small coffee table with books scattered around it and a small TV. Nothing too fancy. Just passed to the left was a curved table with a computer on it. She had never seen such a piece of machinery before. Mounted on steel brackets were three large monitors, a keyboard that was backlit by red lights and a huge tower sitting on the side. The screens only had text on them that said "BETA". The kitchen was probably the fanciest part of the apartment. Everything knew its place and nothing seemed to be out of line. Her stomach growled and she couldn't help but make her way toward the fridge. She opened it and saw a door filled with an insane amount of alcohol. The shelves were well packed with eggs, bacon, bread as well as other normal necessities. She pulled out six eggs, the loaf of bread as well as the entire packet of bacon. She searched around the cupboards trying to find where the pots and pans were kept. Eventually finding them, she took out one large pan and one small one. Placing them on the stove, she put two plates onto a medium heat. She went back to the fridge and took out a block of butter. Scurrying around quietly to find a knife, she slid it across the top of the butter and dropped it in the large pan. A slight sizzling could be heard as the butter began to melt. She beat the eggs together, added salt, pepper and milk and poured the mixture into the second pan. Almost forgetting about the bread, she hurried and put four slices into the toaster which was located next to the stove. With the pan now heated up, she took out each piece of bacon out and put them in the pan one by one. It didn't take long before the smell of cooking bacon began to fill the room. As the bacon began to brown, she added brown sugar in order to caramelise and create a sweet coating for the bacon.

"Glad to see you're making yourself at home." She heard a voice from behind her. Yawning loudly, he continued "How are you feeling miss?" She nearly jumped out of her fur in shock. "Fine I guess" she muttered under her breath.

Now sitting on the couch with his head in his arms, the man stretched and yawned loudly again; his various joints clicking as he did. He got up and slowly stumbled toward the kitchen. He grabbed a large bottle of pills, took out a hand full and threw them in the back of his mouth. He swallowed them with a warm beer that was lying on the table top. With a sigh he muttered "So are you just going to randomly stand there or do I at least get to learn your name?" "Where are my manners?" She yelped. "My name... My name is Lyra." "Lyra ey? Guess you can call me Luke. I don't think I really need to give you a tour of the apartment do I? You seem well acquainted already." He jokingly said while extending his arm to politely shake hers. She blushed as she slowly shook his hand. "I see you have made quite a mess in here. Not a very neat cook are you?" "I will clean it I promise" "Don't worry about it. Just get some food, you need it." She found herself relaxed in the presence of Luke, Yet she couldn't helped but be extremely uncomfortable. Apart from him being a complete stranger, She wasn't used to seeing shirtless boys in front of her so casually. Luke slowly got up from the stool in the kitchen and made his way back over to the couch. "I hope you don't mind that I had to change your clothes. I meant no disrespect and I assure you that I didn't take advantage in anyway. Your clothes were pretty ruined and didn't look comfortable at all." Luke fell back on the couch again yawning. He picked up his phone and flipped it open. "Jesus look at the time. I shouldn't be awake for another few hours" His front door burst open and slammed violently against the wall; nearly knocking items off a nearby shelf. "LUKE!, You're awake!" a small boy ran into the apartment giggling. He launched onto the couch, landing on top of Luke and knocking the wind clean out of him. "Oliver! How can you be so hyperactive so early? You're a kid, you should sleep more." He chocked and laughed while lifting the boy up in the air. "I heard noises coming from inside so I came to visit" the boy replied with a large grin on his face. "Well in that case, there is someone I should introduce you to." Spinning the small boy around to face the kitchen he said "This is Lyre, she is a friend I met last night" Oliver stared blankly at her for a few seconds. After squirming out of Luke's arms, he ran over to her. "Nice to meet you miss, my name is Oliver." "The pleasure is all mine Oliver, My name is Lyra." Running back toward Luke Oliver asked loudly "HEY LUKE! Is she another one of your fuck buddi..." Luke sprang up and grabbed the boy, holding his hand over his mouth to stop him from finishing his sentence. "Watch your tongue Oliver... You're in the presence of a lady" Oliver looked down at the floor, ashamed of what he said. "Sorry, Lyra." "It's okay Oliver, I am not that much of a lady. And no I am not one of those. I met Luke last night. I was in trouble and he was kind enough to help me"

Oliver giggled "Luke the hero... He saved me too!" "Oh he did?" "Yeah, my dad used to drink a whole lot and then he would hurt me. Luke took me away from him. Now I stay with a foster family on the second floor, they are real nice to me. Luke is like my big brother." Oliver hugged him as he explained his situation. "Yeah, saved the kid once and I can't seem to get him off. He has been attached to me for over a year now." Luke laughed as he ruffled the boys head. Oliver had come from an abusive home. His father was a raging drunk and would beat the boy on a daily bases. Oliver was only six at the time. When Luke had heard the kid screaming through a hallway door as he passed by, instinct made him smash the door down. Upon entering the house, Luke saw Oliver crouched on the side of the couch. The boy was skin and bone. His father was standing over Oliver with a belt in his hand ready to hit him again. Luke picked up a beer bottle and smashed it over the fathers head. He then hit the man repeatedly until he was unable to get up. With his fists covered in blood, Luke walked over and picked Oliver up; the boy sobbing in his arms. "Don't worry, you are safe now. I'll get you out of here". Luke took Oliver home with him and gave him as much food as he could eat before giving him a bath and putting the TV on the cartoon channel for him. Oliver lay curled in a tiny ball with his head on Luke's lap until he fell asleep. Staying to comfort the small child, Luke fell asleep on the couch as well. A few days later, the police knocked on the front door. They had a warrant for the arrest of Luke for trespassing and assault. Luke was arrested on site and Oliver was removed. Luke spent two days in jail but lucky the charges were dropped when he managed to explain what happened and why he had beaten the man and taken the boy. The police agreed to take Oliver out of his father's custody and put him into foster care. Luke, being in multiple foster programs as a child, he pleaded with the police chief to not do that because it would affect the boy for his entire life. But the law was the law and Oliver would have to be placed in the care of child welfare. After a few hours of arguing, Luke convinced to department to at least let him find the boy a decent foster home. Likely for Oliver, Luke still lived in the same building as the last foster home that he was in for five years. The elderly woman agreed to take Oliver in.

Lyra had now dished the bacon, scrambled egg and toast onto three plates and handed them to the two boys. Oliver mauled the food down like a wild animal, the boy's habits from living with his dad and eating as much food as he could as fast as he could still stayed etched in his behaviour. After the meal, Oliver politely excused himself as he was called down home by his foster mother. "Bye Lyra, Bye Luke. I will come visit later." Luke and Lyra waved as the boy rushed out of the apartment and down the stairs. "Sweet kid" Lyra said while picking up the plates. "Yeah, he is. Leave the kitchen, You look like you need a shower. The bathroom is just through the door over there. I have some clothes a girl left here a while ago, they are clean and I would estimate them to be your size." Lyra nodded as she walked toward the bathroom. Luke knocked on the door to give her the change of clothes. His eyes averted as she opened the door to take the clothes. "Thank you. Don't worry, I am still decent" While Lyra showered, Luke went to clean the mess she had left behind. He was not used to people making a mess in this apartment but strangely it didn't bother him. He heard the pipes in the wall vibrate as the shower was turned off. "Uh Luke... There is no towel in here!" She shouted form the closed bathroom. Luke ran over to the cupboard and grabbed the first clean towel he had. He knocked on the door, His eyes once again averted knowing she would be semi naked. "You're going to have to come in." "WHAT?! No way!" He replied, shock on his face "There is no way I am coming to the door. PLEASE!" "ARGH! Fine, I'm coming in..." Luke slowly opened the bathroom door and nervously walked toward the shower. Lyra stood wrapped up in the shower curtain. She felt herself blushing as he handed her the towel. "AAAAAAAHHH!" she screamed as she slipped out the shower while trying to take the towel. Luke managed to grab her before she hit the floor. Lyra now lay in his arms. Luke with no shirt on and his fur now wet from saving her. Lyra was completely naked. Luke opened his eyes wide as he realised what had happened. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't see anything" He said. A nude woman was nothing new to Luke, but this was a different situation. Lyra yelped in embarrassment as she grabbed the towel and covered the most important parts. An awkward silence filled the steamy bathroom as both Luke and Lyra couldn't move and didn't know what to do next.
