After problems with the CIS had escalated I had heard about the proposition of an army being created to deal with the threat. At first I approached the idea with apprehension, there was word that the army was going to be made exclusively out of clones. At first I scoffed at these remarks but learnt later that they were true. The recruiters though were also looking for others, probably to act as a template for their grand army. Without hesitation I joined up in the hopes of gaining glory on the battlefield, just like my father. I spent years training, becoming better and stronger when it came to strength, agility and fighting. By that time the first batches of clones had come out ready for training on Kamino. I never did find out who was used as the clone template, rumours circulated that it was of some bounty hunter by the name of Jango Fett but it didn't seem feasible. Why would they use a bounty hunter? That was what puzzled me. Not that I was to receive a warm welcome. Those created on Kamino disdained all of the recruits who came from civilian life. They said that we weren't 'pure' enough to be mixing with them, that we were inferior to their supposedly 'superior' genes. My fighting results put that claim to rest. My results were just as good as some of them if not better. I guess I should have seen this behaviour coming; I was the only fox amongst an army of wolves.

Not all of the clones were arrogant jerks though. The commando squads were a little more forgiving and civil. Delta squad was probably the kindest of all and they accepted me like a brother. Ironically enough I found Sev the most bearable of the entire lot, a little cold at times but he was skilled in the same weapon as I was, the sniper rifle. I still remember the first time I met him on the firing range. Unlike some of the other clones doing their training there he was the only one who was actually hitting their target. When I questioned him he suggested that I find out about the other members before talking to him. The others he was talking about were known as "Boss", "Fixer" and "Scorch". All of them were good guys, although I was always getting the feeling that Fixer didn't want me hanging around, just a little uptight I guess.

This wasn't to say that I didn't have any friends in the normal ranks. There were a couple of guys who didn't really seem to mind me. I was mostly ignored but FD-1469 was probably the first guy I met who wasn't an actual jerk. It certainly seemed to me that at least a couple of the clones had some degree of individuality. Luckily the both of us were placed in the same battalion, meaning that we got to see a lot more of each other as we were constantly trained to make sure that we were in top condition.

"So you think that we'll go into battle against the CIS eventually?" 69 asked me one day.

"Don't know and I don't really want to know," I chuckled, "Although I really do wonder why this army was actually created in the first place,"

69 just looked at me with a puzzled look on his face, "Didn't they ever tell you?"

I shook my head, "No, was there an actual reason?"

"You'll soon find out, why else would they constantly test our mental strength?" 69 answered, picking up his rifle, "Hey I bet that I can beat your eighty-seven percent accuracy rate!"

"Oh you are on!" I challenged as I picked up my own rifle and headed into the training chambers. Little did I know of the war that was about to ensue between us and the CIS.

When word soon came around that somebody by the name of Count Dooku had amassed a large droid army on the planet of Geonosis there were mixed reactions amongst all of the clones that I constantly trained with. Some were saying that they weren't ready for true combat just yet while others were more than eager to go into battle for the first time. I personally didn't give a damn whether or not we entered the combat arena. Just as long as I came out alive at the end of it I was happy. The members of Delta Squad seemed to know a lot more about the affairs then I had originally thought. It seems that we were supposed to be going into battle soon enough to help support Master Mace Windu and Master Yoda in the attack.

"So you're sure that we're going to Geonosis then?" I remember asking 'Boss'.

"Sure are. We're going in for a specific purpose though. The order will be given to all of the clones soon enough, I suggest that you prepare yourself for one of the most grueling battles you will ever face in your life," Boss replied, donning his helmet.

"Yes sir, hey come back alive will you? I wanna have a drink with you guys after this is all over," I answered as I turned to leave.

"Don't worry, commandos never die!" Scorch chuckled, placing a gauntleted paw on my shoulder.

"Oh that can be arranged," I heard Sev mutter as I left the commandos to whatever preparation they had to do.

Boss's prediction came soon enough as all military personnel were ordered to prepare themselves for the flight from Kamino to Geonosis to help in the battle. Why they requested us to be in full combat armour puzzled me but I guess they wanted us to be ready for the battle immediately. As I hefted the heavy Phase 1 battle armour onto my somewhat lithe frame I was starting to wonder how I would move around in the heavy armour AND carry my DC-15x Sniper Rifle. I caught sight of 69 walking down the corridor with another clone, rifle at his side and wondered what it took to be accepted amongst the other clones. Pushing the thought to the back of my mind I locked my helmet into place and slung my sniper rifle across my back before heading to the main hanger as we were ordered to.

Standing at attention is a painful practice at best as you had to keep moving unless you wanted to faint suddenly without warning. There could have easily been a few thousand in the one hanger alone that I was in and that wasn't counting the other hangers which other groups of clone soldiers had gathered inside of. At the front of all the clones on a raised platform, stood one of the clone commandos, not one of the commandos from Delta squad but from another squad.

"Okay troopers this is where we show those sniveling robots that nobody messes with the Republic! We will not let them create a massive army of which they can attack us with! We will not let them take control of any more planets but what we will give them is a barrage of bullets and a pool of their own coolant to die in! Am I right troopers?" he bellowed.

"Sir Yes Sir!" the clones called out in unison.

"Uh huh damn right I am! Alright everyone on board, get some rest while you can for we will be at Geonosis faster then you think and don't think for one second that these guys will give up without one hell of a fight!"

As we settled down on the large Acclamator class cruiser I couldn't help but think that at least some of us would be leaving in body bags. Strangely enough the concept of dying didn't faze me one bit. Perhaps growing up on the streets did at least something right.

"Hey think you're ready for battle?"

I looked up to see 69's kind face looking down at me. I returned the smile before replying.

"Well all that training wasn't for nothing. If I'm not ready now then I never will be,"

69 chuckled to himself as I said that, "Well just as long as you watch my back I'll watch yours," he said referring to my sniper rifle lying in the corner.

"Those droids don't stand a chance with the force of the Republic closing in on them. They are going to start wishing they had never caused any trouble in the first place!"
