Chapter 8

Kyle groaned as he sat up in a surprisingly well kept room. A familiar scent, that of his mate, surrounded Kyle as if he was in Ben's room back at his house. Only this was not Ben's room at his house. The sound of the door opening distracted Kyle from his thoughts. Much to his surprise his mother walked in, followed by a woman who Kyle recognized as Ben's mother. "Kyle!" Patricia said in shock when she saw her son. Not only was the woman dressed in a beautiful white dress, but she was wearing a watch identical to the one Ben always wore. "We were so worried about you dear!"

"Mom?" Kyle asked in shock. "Where am I?"

"You're in the order's fortress dear," Patricia said as she sat down beside her son, "Ben brought you here nearly seven days ago! We were so scared we might lose you, but Righteous Shield used the orb of light to restore your lost power. It's the only thing we could do to save you!"

"What about... erm..." Kyle stopped himself when he remembered that Ben's mother was the hero Neutron.

Patricia smiled and looked at Susan Sims, "he's fine dear... In fact, he was the one who made Ben bring you here. You might have died if he hadn't..."

"Father..." Kyle said softly as he remembered what had happened in the bathroom. "What about Bruce and Sam?" Kyle asked suddenly and blushed. "Oh wait, should you turn your watches off?"

Patricia Sparks giggled and exchanged a look with Susan. "Our valiant leader has been far too focused on his new social life to bother monitoring our conversations. Ben has taken up the vigil while Samson is away. He's probably on his way right now!"

As if on cue the door opened again and a huge muscle bound red haired giant rushed into the room. He nearly changed right then and there when he saw his mate awake. "Kyle!" Ben shouted and crossed the room with a blinding speed. "Oh Kyle, don't scare me like that ever again!"

It was a big surprise to see tears in the hairy stud's eyes. Ben was usually stern and collected. Even around Kyle he commanded an air of respect and power. It probably came from his dual blood lines. Black Wolf could dominate the strongest fangs with a slight growl, and Righteous Shield was the model of heroic demeanor and attitude. Ben buried his face in his smaller mate's furry chest as he cried. Kyle hadn't noticed it until now, but he was looking a lot hairier now. In fact he looked down right wolfish! "Come on big guy," Kyle said cheerfully and ran his hands through Ben's hair, "I'm a super too you know!"

Ben pulled away and smiled at his mate. "I know Kyle, but we almost lost you when your new powers woke up."

"New powers?" Kyle asked and frowned at Ben, "what new powers?" Ben gently pulled back the covers for his smaller mate. Kyle gasped when he saw his lower body. Kyle looked just like Black Wolf had looked before he had passed out. "What the hell?"

"It happened right after you passed out... according to Bruce... and the change nearly killed you! Black Wolf used a dangerous amount of his own powers to feed your body. After that I had to feed him my power, and that only left the orb of light to heal you..." Ben explained and shook his head. Righteous Shield didn't seem to care that you are obviously a pack member. In fact he arranged a meeting with Black Fang after you arrived?"

"So he knows?" Kyle asked.

"About you?" Ben asked.

"About everything!" Kyle said gruffly.

Ben paused as he thought to himself. "Yes and no," the young man finally said. "He doesn't know I'm a member of the pack, but I think he suspects something is up with us. On the other hand he's been super busy with old Black Wolf. You can thank Bruce for playing interference for us. He's pretty much stolen the leader of the order from the rest of the city!"

"What about Bruce... did the changes..."

Ben laughed at Kyle's fears. "He's calling himself Black Fang now! He's convinced you're the key to what Timber Wolf and Rodney are calling the next stage of wolf transformation!"

Patricia and Susan frowned at Ben's comment. "The thought of you wolves growing any stronger is frightening," Susan said and shook her head. "But if this transformation progresses... well... I have heard of heroes who are more animal than human. They are always far stronger than any normal hero, but they can't hide their identity from others. It's a hard life living with that sort of power."

"What if he's right?" Kyle paused before he spoke again, "what if I have some power than enhances other supers?"

Patricia smiled and put her hand on Kyle's shoulder, "when the orb healed you it also revealed a new power inside you Kyle. Apparently you can absorb powers from other supers you come in contact with. It's similar to my own ability to heal by touching people, but it seems far more complicated than that."

"So I can enhance or absorb other powers?" Kyle looked shocked. "So why can't I fly like Ben, and why don't I have super strength and speed?"

"We don't know dear," Patricia said and looked at Susan for help.

"So far as we know you are the only super we've heard of with powers like this. I don't know how far these powers extend, but our computer analysis seems indicate that you could completely drain the energy from a super. That would effectively remove their powers... at least that's what we think would happen."

"What about boosting powers? How far can I do that?" Kyle asked.

"We don't know. Perhaps you could create supers with more power than any super alive today? We're already seeing the combined effects of the light powers when they mix with the pack powers. Both are methods of enhancing natural super powers, but your ability seems to go a step further. When you boost powers the effect is far more drastic. In the case of Black Fang it seems to have made him more wolf than human. Perhaps his other forms have changed as well?"

"They have," Ben said and nodded, "Black Fang is still growing larger from his contact with you. Even Righteous Shield seems to think he's got to be a super. He's easily more than seven feet tall now... I don't even think I could out muscle him now."

"But that's great! The judges don't stand a chance against us now!" Kyle said excitedly. "If I can just learn how to master my powers than I could make us all stronger!"

"No Kyle, you must be careful with this power," Patricia said wearily. "When I use my powers I must rest between healing and restoring energy. I have a feeling that changing the extent of a hero or villain's powers is even more taxing. Worse yet, what if the judges got a hold of you? This power could be used against us if they find out it exists!"

Kyle was suddenly very tired. He sighed as he relaxed into Ben's arms. The protective wolf had sat beside his mate as they spoke. It was a good thing he had because Kyle would have hit his head on the metal head board otherwise. "Your energy is still very low Kyle. For now you're just going to have to stay here with me."

"I think I could get used to a bed this big," Kyle said lewdly and blushed when he remembered both of their mothers were still in the room.

"On that note I believe it's time for us to leave. We'll be close by if you need us," Patricia said softly.

After their moms had left Ben shed his clothes and shifted into his wolf form. He pulled Kyle into his arms and found the smaller wolf's ass. Ben slipped into his mate with little resistance. His thrusts were tender and surprisingly gentle, but Kyle could take his mate despite being so weak. Sex was one of Kyle's biggest energy sources, so getting ass fucked by his mate was almost enough to recharge him. Ben took his time with Kyle. He tenderly ran his hands through the younger male's thick body fur and practically worshiped his mate's lithe muscular body. Kyle shifted enough for Ben to shove his whole cock inside him. Being filled like this was far better than any healing power another hero could provide. For a moment Kyle felt whole again, and despite the warnings against it the young hero tapped into his new powers.

Ben didn't seem to notice as Kyle shrank in his arms. His thrusts seemed to speed up, but to Ben it was taking longer and longer to pull out of his mate. Before too long it was getting hard to push his entire length into Kyle's back side. That problem was solved when Kyle went full werewolf, but Ben still felt like his mate's ass was much tighter than usual.

Kyle had hardly concentrated at all on his mate's cock, and in truth he had only barely given it a nudge to grow larger. After only a few short moments Ben felt a whole foot longer, and his cock felt much thicker too. Below the titanic member were two huge gurgling furry balls. The two orbs seemed to churn violently as they produced copious amounts of werewolf cum. The huge furry red arms around Kyle bulged and grew along with the wolf they belonged to. Ben growled savagely as he felt the bed creak under him. His foot paws were well past the edge of the bed now, and he could easily touch the ground with his knees bent. "K... Kyle!" Red Wolf growled in concern. "Kyle stop... grrr... you're... changing me!"

He couldn't stop! Kyle could see his mate's ultimate form looming in the distance. It wasn't like before. This time the energy was coming from sex, not from his own personal stores! Kyle tried to stem the flow of power into his mate, but that was impossible! Ben didn't stop fucking him, and there was still so much power!

The sound of Red Wolf howling snapped Kyle out of his sex induced trance. The bed was gone, flattened below the behemoth Kyle had created. Ben wasn't even trying to talk anymore, he was far to engrossed in the need to fuck his mate. A dark red light burst from above the two wolves and an alarm went off around them. At first Kyle was afraid he and Ben had set off some sort of defense system, but that fear evaporated when a female voice spoke from what seemed like nowhere. "Intruder alert, intruder alert! Unknown heroes have breached the outer defenses! All Order members should assemble immediately.

"Fuck!" Red-Wolf growled as he looked around the room. Kyle could tell his mate was struggling to fight his animal side. "Fuck Kyle, what have you done!"

"I'm sorry Ben!" Kyle said in a soft whine, "I couldn't stop myself! I... I..."

A titanic explosion rocked the fortress. The red alarm lights flickered, along with the rest of the lighting in the room, before everything went black. "They're attacking the crystal room!"

Kyle pulled forward and groaned in pain as he realized he was tied to his mate. "Oh shit!" Kyle groaned. "We're stuck!"

"Not if I change back," Ben said as he body began to shift behind Kyle. It was a risky maneuver because Kyle could crush Ben's human body with his weight. Thankfully Ben's human body wasn't very human anymore. In fact he was pretty much as wolf-like as Black-Fang now.

Kyle hopped off his mate as soon as the knot slipped from his ass. He watched Ben stand and smiled at his handiwork. "I guess I should call you Red Fang now huh?"

"That's not funny Kyle! You shouldn't have done this... It was too risky!"

Kyle growled and crossed his furry arms. Ben was well over seven feet tall now, but he was still shorter than Kyle's werewolf form. "You can use your new powers to fight off whoever is attacking the fortress!"

Ben grabbed his power watch and snapped it onto his furry wrist. He punched the power button and shifted at the same time. In a few short moments a silver armored werewolf towered over Kyle. A shimmering sword appeared in the titanic wolf's hands as a brilliant red light began to surround him. In moments Benjamin Sims was standing before his mate in all his radiant glory. "I feel like I could fight an army!" Ben roared.

Another explosion rocked the fortress, but Kyle's eyes were glued to his mate. What had he unleashed upon the world? Ben growled and put a paw on Kyle's back. He was so large that he would have to squeeze through the double doors of his own bedroom. The two wolves hurried through the corridors before the ran into Patricia, Proton, and Neutron. "Thank god we found you two!" Proton shouted and looked at his foster son. "By the light!" Proton said in awe as he took in the sight of the huge werewolf clad in glowing red armor.

"Call me Holy Avenger," Ben said gravely, "who's attacking us?"

"It's the judges! They're after the crystal of light!" Neutron shouted.

"Where's Righteous Shield?" Holy Avenger asked quickly.

The other three heroes shook their heads, "he hasn't reported in!"

Ben growled as he looked down the hallway. "Take the orb of light and run! I'll hold them off as long as I can!"

"No!" Kyle said and shook his head, "we'll help you fight!"

"No Kyle... go with the others! That's an order!" Holy Avenger shouted at his smaller mate. "Keep them safe Kyle... I'm not going to lose to the judges. Ok?"

Kyle growled but nodded regardless.

...

Holy Avenger didn't bother using doors. Once the other heroes were far enough away he exploded through the walls and roof of the fortress. Outside it was a surprisingly sunny and pleasant day. If a third explosion of energy hadn't shaken the floating fortress Holy Avenger might not have suspected they were under attack at all.

Not far from where Holy Avenger was standing two floating forms were visible in the distance. With an earth shaking roar he shot into the air and towards the two supers. One of the two was a woman in a brilliant gray robe. She was holding a hammer and a shield that reminded Holy Avenger of the weapons his father used. The second of the two was male. He was clad in gray steel armor with the symbol of the High Court on his shoulders and chest. The male was gathering some sort of energy from the air around him. As the orb coalesced Holy Avenger shot towards the man far faster than either of the two could comprehend.

The second Holy Avenger crashed into the hero the orb of energy shuddered and collapsed in on itself in a brilliant explosion that knocked the female super away from her companion. The super in Avenger's paws tried to struggle, but he was no match for the super holding him. Holy Avenger abruptly changed his direction in mid air and threw the offending super towards the ground below them.

As her companion was thrown towards the ground the female super recovered and noticed the huge behemoth wolf clad in shining red armor. "What is this treachery!" She said as she approached Holy Avenger and brandished her sword at him. You are marked by Victor Fang, but you wield the powers of the Mithril Order as well?"

"I am Holy Avenger, and your attack on the Mithril Fortress is the only treachery here!" Avenger roared as he charged towards the judge. She brought her shield up just in time to parry his attack. The two crashed together with a violent explosion of sound and light. The air itself crackled as it expanded from the force of the blow. In seconds Holy Avenger was locked in a deadly dance with the woman. She was surprisingly fast, but not nearly as strong as her larger opponent. Despite their difference in size and strength the judge seemed to possess the upper hand.

Blow after blow rained down on the female judge's shield, but try as he might Holy Avenger just couldn't pierce her defense. Every time he thought he sensed an opening in her form the woman would bring her shield up to protect her while her sword struck forward to test Avenger's defenses. After nearly twenty minutes of dueling the judge slammed her shield and sword into Holy Avenger's two handed blade. The young werewolf was pushed through the air with a surprising amount of force.

It took precious energy to stop himself from crashing into the fortress, but if that wasn't bad enough a huge orb of energy whipped through the air towards Avenger. He only barely managed to bring his sword up and deflect the orb in time to prevent it from hitting him. The deflected orb detonated dangerously close to Holy Avenger. After the air had cleared from the resulting explosion the two judges were waiting a few yards above where Avenger floated in the air. "This one is powerful, but he is no match for your you Law." It was the steel armored man who had spoken.

Law nodded and smiled at her companion. "We haven't been challenged by a hero this powerful in a long time Order. Perhaps we should capture him so Justice can examine his disgustingly twisted body?"

Avenger growled as he pointed his sword at the two judges. "You have only tasted a fraction of my powers Judges!" An explosion of electrical power ripped through the air as twin bolts of lightning arced towards the judges. Law brought her shield up to deflect the bolts, but lightning cares not if it strikes a shield or a body. A scream of pain came from the judge as electricity coursed through her body. Order only barely managed to shield himself from the electrical attack. A wall of shining energy absorbed most of the bolt of lightning, but enough passed through his defense to cause him to gasp in pain.

The two supers exchanged a look of slight concern. Fighting a hero who was light-born, super strong, a flyer, and could use electrical attacks was certainly a challenge. "That was an impressive display young hero, but the law is not on your side today," Law said as she pointed her sword at Holy Avenger. "I don't know where you got that sword, but it ill suits a member of the pack. I will enjoy adding it to my own holy weapons once I have defeated you!"

"Indeed Law," Order said and smiled. "It is time we showed this hero the extent of our combined power!"

Holy Avenger frowned as the two judges nodded and began their attack. Order started the attack by conjuring six orbs of energy that raced towards Avenger. At first the hero thought the orbs were meant to strike him, but instead they stopped as they formed a ring around him. Law's sword and shield vanished and a beautiful bow made of shimmering white light formed in her hands. As she pulled the bowstring back six arrows of light formed. Avenger knew she wasn't aiming for him. A crackling barrier of electricity formed around the hero as he threw up his best form of defense.

Avenger heard the arrows striking the orbs of energy. Six explosions of light and power rocked the air above the Mithril Fortress. The force of the explosions ripped at Avenger's shield of electricity. Far below the three fighting supers the citizens of Angel City had been watching the flashing lights and explosions coming from around the Mithril Fortress. To the humans watching it looked as if a star had exploded in the sky above the fortress. It took nearly all of his power to shield himself, but Avenger managed to hold the blast off. His shield crackled and dissipated the moment after impact, but the hero remained unharmed. Unfortunately it had taken an immense amount of power to deflect the attack, and even as a huge werewolf monster he was having trouble remaining aloft.

"Impressive..." Law said as she raised her bow again. "I can't recall the last time a hero managed to survive that attack."

"It's a shame really," Order said as he conjured two more orbs of energy in his hands. "It's so hard to find a worthy adversary in times like these..."

It was over... Holy Avenger... Ben... Lowered his sword and looked up at the clear blue sky. Blue... the color reminded him of Kyle. He would have liked to see his mate one more time before he died, but at least they had shared the times they had before Ben was done in by the judges.

Three brilliant white projectiles were launched at the exhausted hero. Ben brought his sword up, but he knew he didn't have the power to deflect three attacks at once...

"Enough!" A thunderous voice shouted.

All Ben saw was a flash of white light as a brilliant white armored hero came from nowhere and intercepted the three projectiles. Righteous Shield hardly batted an eye as his brilliant white shield deflected the three projectiles aimed at his son. The hero looked furious, but not for the reason Ben thought he should be.

The appearance of his father had been surprising, but the blast of purple lightning was extraordinary. A huge wolf, easily the size of a city bus, joined Righteous Shield in the air beside their son. The two judges screamed in pain as thousands of purple lightning bolts struck at their bodies. "You deserve death today, but it is not our way to kill other supers!" Black Wolf snarled as he ended his attack and looked at Righteous Shield. The two nodded and Black Wolf offered his hand to the hero. Power began to flow between the two of them as Righteous Shield closed his eyes and his weapons vanished.

He pointed both of his hands towards the fortress and in moments a violent shaking came from the airborne crystal fortress. Holy Avenger couldn't believe what his father was doing, but it became evident when the two orbs of light exploded through the crystal ceiling of the fortress. "You want our fortress to fall, yes?" Shield asked.

"You have violated our agreement by offering sanctuary to a wanted criminal! Until the crystal fortress has fallen and Patricia Sparks has been executed we will not relent! This is the decree of the High Court! Law and Order have been dispatched to see this wrong righted!" Law shouted and pointed her bow at Righteous Shield. "If you surrender now we will arrest you and these two pack members. I cannot promise you will live, but the court will still hear your argument! Do not condemn yourself to a life of crime Righteous Shield. There is still time to fix these grievous errors the Order has made!"

Righteous Shield shook his head as the two orbs of light floated towards his outstretched hand. "The order stands for what is good and pure of heart. I know I speak for the other members of the order when I say that we will never lend our support to your zealous pursuit for justice!" The two orbs of light had just reached the three heroes when Shield dropped Black Wolf's hand.

"Your days in this city are numbered judges. The pack comes for you, and no amount of brick, stone, or mortar will keep us from you!" Black Wolf growled as he looked at Shield who nodded again.

Holy Avenger couldn't believe he was looking at his two fathers working together. What happened next was even more confusing. Righteous shield began to channel his energy into the orbs. As he did so the fortress below them began to fall towards the city. At first Avenger couldn't believe that his mentor would allow the crystal fortress to crash into the ground, but much to Avenger's surprise the crystal began to evaporate into nothingness. As the orb of light re-absorbed the power Shield had used to create the Mithril Fortress it began to shine even more powerfully. The light was almost painfully bright, but Avenger realized that Shield was protecting them from the painful energy of the orb.

The judges on the other hand were unable to look at the orb or the three heroes standing beside it. "What is this power? The High Court did not tell us that the Order's light orb could be used as a weapon!" Order said and frowned as he looked at Law.

As the light grew stronger the orb itself enveloped the three heroes. Order tried to attack the blinding sphere of light, but his attacks seemed to evaporate as they pushed towards the orb. Law let loose a few arrows, but they were even less effective. "He's creating some sort of shield effect that we are not powerful enough to deal with. We should tell the Court about this development..."

As the two judges fled the orb continued to surge with power. Inside the circumference of the sphere of light the three heroes floated comfortably in a soothing warm light. Righteous Shield spoke out through his connection with the other members of the order, "The Mithril Fortress has been compromised. We will move our base of operations so that we can accept the aid of our new allies, The Pack."

It wasn't a suggestion so much as it was a statement. The font of radiant energy shot through the air as it traveled towards a familiar neighborhood. Once the orb had reached the park Kyle had fought to preserve it slowed and stopped. Brilliant lances of light shot through the air and connected with the ground below the orb. The crystal coursed through the park and began to reshape the forest as it filled the area with a brilliant shining light. Four gateways formed on the perimeter of the park pointing in the four cardinal directions. Beyond each gate was a large courtyard, and beyond the courtyard was an ascending crystal staircase that stretched from the ground up to the walls of the massive structure forming above the park.

In most respects the new fortress was very similar to the first. The main difference was its accessibility to the ground. Since it was no longer intended to fly the crystal fortress sought a different form of support for its structure. A single tree was chosen amongst the others in the park to act as a support column for the new fortress. The power of the orb of light charged the tree with growth. In moments the mighty oak had reached the base of the growing fortress. It seemed to reach out with its branches to support the central structure of the building.

Six additional trees shot up to act as struts for the central structure. These trees were all pines, and as they pushed towards the sky they almost looked like towers joining the huge oak as they towered over the nearby neighborhoods. Hundreds of rooms formed in the winding halls of the towering fortress. A central chamber formed around the orb as it floated in the heart of the huge oak that had grown around it. The inside of the new fortress was similar to the old fortress, but instead of lifeless clear crystal the chambers were filled with plants and other natural decorations.

The final touch to the growing fortress was the addition of walls all around the park. They wouldn't protect the forested area from air borne attacks, but they would keep out anyone who was brave enough to attack from the ground. A ghostly white light, similar to that of the moon, began to fill the trees below the fortress. The entire forest was constantly bathed in a gentle light that supported the trees and plants even in the dark of night. In the daytime the sun seemed to kiss the forest as it shone through the fortress. It almost looked as though the sky above the forest was sparkling like a rainbow.

Once the construction was completed the orb began to shrink and in moments Ben, Sam, and Bruce found themselves standing in a clear crystal chamber. All three heroes were clad in simple white clothing that reminded Ben of his former super suit. Bruce smiled before he turned to Sam and nearly tackled the man. "That was amazing Sam!" It was a little surprising to see the huge man kissing Ben's father, but when Sam returned the kiss with the passion of a dedicated lover Ben smiled.

Almost immediately after their steamy embrace the two senior supers turned to their son and frowned. Bruce inspected the young hero for injury while Sam stood back and frowned at his son. "Normally I would have some serious words for you Ben, but I believe you did what you thought was right."

"I'm proud of you for fighting those two judges, but you could have been killed Ben! Why didn't you let Kyle help you?" Bruce asked as he squeezed his son's meaty shoulder.

"I... couldn't let them hurt Kyle," Ben said and shook his head. "I'd rather die than let them hurt my mate!"

It was Sam who shook his head next. "Then it's a good thing Kyle came straight to us after he left the fortress!" Sam dropped his crossed arms as he walked towards Ben. "You're crazy for fighting those judges Ben, but why didn't you tell me about all this before? I wouldn't have been angry!"

"I... I just wanted everything to work out for the better..." Ben said sadly and looked at his father's. They both looked angry and concerned at the same time. "So... have you two... you know... done it yet?"

Sam laughed at the question, but it was Bruce who seemed the most embarrassed. "That's none of your business, but if you must know... yes... we have engaged in sexual relations."

Ben's heart skipped a beat. "So... you're a wolf now?"

"Actually..." Bruce said and blushed, "I let him do me first... I want him to join us because he loves me..." Bruce turned to Sam and smiled a toothy smile. "I want you to choose to be my mate Sam. I won't force you too, but I'd love to make you part of my family."

Sam smiled as he pulled Bruce into another kiss. "How can I say no to those puppy dog eyes of yours?"

After their romantic exchange Sam led them down a pair of crystal stairs that stretched around the huge meeting chamber up to the crystal chamber above. A massive circular table with chairs placed around its circumference dominated the chamber. Ben smiled when he counted the seats. There were clearly enough for the members of the pack and the order to attend meetings here. It was a little odd to think of Timber Wolf and Silver Striker sitting in seats at the same table, but if anyone could unite two very different groups of supers it was the Righteous Shield and Black Fang.

Bruce and Ben weren't wearing shoes, but their canine foot-paws found the crystal floor of the new fortress both comfortable and cool. Ben was the next to speak up as the three of them looked at the massive table. "So what is this place... it hardly seems appropriate to call it the Mithril Fortress anymore..."

"How about we call it the Crystal Fortress?" Bruce suggested.

Sam smiled and nodded. "I have changed the powers of the orb. From now on its light should empower both the order and the pack. We may be two separate groups now, but perhaps one day we can learn to work together for the good of Angel City."

It was Bruce who smiled as he looked up at the gentle glowing orb of light. It was like looking up at the moon on a lonely light. "I can feel the power of the orb... I can only imagine how the other wolves will react to its influence."

...

It didn't take long for a host of pack members to descend on the new Crystal Fortress. The Mithril Order joined their new allies with a surprisingly warm reception. Even Timber Wolf and Saber Wolf found their way to the fortress and joined the collected host of supers. For Kyle it was like some sort of dream. Thralls and fangs patrolled the walls and the forest below the fortress. Each of the six tower-like trees housed a member of the order and one of the wolves. Kyle ended up sharing his tower with Ben. That suited him just fine! Just like with Ben's chambers in the old fortress the new room was perfectly proportioned for two huge wolves to live inside.

Kyle found himself in his new bedroom one afternoon nearly a week after the fall of the Mithril Fortress. The heroes had all been busy handling the threats of war between the two heroic factions and the judges. The newly formed alliance of heroes quickly decided to call itself the Circle of Heroes or just the Circle, and their first order of business had been formally declaring war on the High Court. Kyle still remembered the meeting well...

Samson Light had started everything off by introducing himself. He quickly told the heroes assembled that while they were in this chamber they were neither members of the order or the pack. The two factions of the circle were just different sides of the same coin. Samson spoke plainly. "When I fought Victor Fang on behalf of the High Court he told me I was making a mistake. He said I should have seen the cost of ignoring the light and dark side of our noble city. Now I understand what he meant! Victor knew our two super groups could exist together, but not if the law of the land forbid us from working towards the same goal. Human laws have rarely segregated heroes, but the High Court seeks to do just that. As we grow weaker in isolation the court grows stronger, but together we can drive them out of Angel City and restore a peace that prospers outside the realm of total law!"

Everyone had nodded after his speech. To everyone's surprise it was Timber Wolf who spoke up next. "I know that I, for one, have no love for the High Court. They ruthlessly seek out any human with the potential for super powers and mercilessly purge them! We have hundreds of fangs, but only a handful of true wolves. Even if we do declare war on the High Court we should also focus on learning why they are committing genocide against supers."

"I agree," Neon Flash had said before nodding to Timber Wolf. "I must confess to using my powers to smuggle young supers out of Angel City. If the order and the pack had worked together than perhaps we would both have more members today. As it stands we are lucky to have found Kyle and Ben. Not to mention Rodney Fang who is Victor's only living son!"

Rodney growled as he stood up abruptly. "Those Court bastards killed my brother and hold my father in their dirty prison! Let us combine our powers and break Victor Fang out of the Vault. Hundreds of prisoners in the Vault are innocent and pose no threat to the pack or the order! They were simply arrested for having super powers!"

Black Fang motioned for Rodney to sit down. "Then we have reached a conclusion? As a newly formed circle of supers we should decide what our new course of action should be."

Silver Striker spoke up next. "I propose a motion for war!"

Sam smiled as he gestured towards the light above them. The ceiling above the chamber shimmered and dissipated as the orb began to descend. The huge table was cylindrical but hallow in the middle, so the massive orb could float just in front of each circle member. "Put your hands on the orb and focus on all your reasons for or against this decision. The orb will gather our thoughts and feelings into a cohesive reason for or against the motion for war."

The wolves looked a little weary of the orb of light, but as their hairy hands touched its surface they relaxed. Ben could feel the orb extending into the minds of those touching its surface. In moments it collected their thoughts and feelings. Most of all there was a sense of anger concerning the motion. When it was finished the orb projected the combined sense of a decision back into the minds of the circle members.

Samson didn't have to say it, but he spoke regardless. "It is decided... we go to war!"
