The year was 2006, seven damn years ago, well that's not the important part, it's not the year's numbers, it's the events that took place in said year.

First off, my name is Ronn, My wife's name is Katherine, and my youngest daughter's name is Maria, we call her Marmar for short.

We are all a family of penguins, It's a long story but the short version is love at first sight.

Well I'm getting off topic, the entire reason I'm writing this is for the sake of reference, to at least get my story out there weather people believe it or not...

Enough of my babbling, Let's get right to the chase, the story begins down at the hospital where Marmar was born.

"It's a girl!" The nurse had said with a smile as she handed her to Katherine, even me, a police officer for nearly seven years, started crying like a baby as Marmar's shrill, first cries filled the room, quickly coming to a cease as she was held by her mother, the last of the egg's broken shell being escorted from the room by the nurse.

Katherine smiled up at me as she held our daughter's newborn body in her arms, my god it was a sight that just, will never leave my memory, and on that night was the time I saw the first twinkle.

What's a twinkle?, I couldn't think of a better name for a phenomenon quite like them, but a twinkle is when I saw him, or her, or it!, I have no idea what it was so, I just called the times it made itself noticeable twinkles.

Well anyway, As I'm watching my family tree grow significant new branches, I saw this, twinkle of stars out of the corner of my eye, at first I thought I was going insane!, it was the middle of the day, at least nine in the morning, but it was merely a quick twinkle of stars, and then, nothing.

So, I kind of just blew off the fact of seeing stars in the window, I just figured it was exactly that, I was astounded and just, saw stars, I had heard the saying enough to gather it's meaning but, I had never had it happen, I diagnosed it as that, and carried on.

I had not seen a twinkle in such a long time, but it was not the last time I had heard of it.

In 2008, my little 2 year old Marmar is outside with her mother in the sandbox, they were in the process of building a little sand castle, I was watching out of the window as I drank my coffee, once again it was early in the morning, and I was getting ready to head out to work, when I saw my wife jump up and run towards the house.

"Ronn!" She yelled as she came up the stairs, smiling and crying slightly.

"What's the matter?" I asked frantically, assuming it was a large deal, but I didn't quite know what the deal was exactly.

"Marmar has her first imaginary friend!" Katherine said with a huge smile across her beak, I smiled back and went along with the news as if it was actually something that not any other kid in the world did.

"Whats his name?" I asked, smiling back at my teary-eyed wife, to which she replied "Nightsky."

Now at the time, I didn't think anything of my Marmar having an imaginary friend named Nightsky, and it wouldn't sink In for a lot longer.

The next time that something similar would happen was in 2010, when four year old Marmar waddled up to my leg, as I was just packing things off of the desk, we were in the midst of moving and Marmar had wanted to talk to me.

"Not now sweetie." I said, I was too busy to communicate with anyone at this point, loading different essentials and documents into the desk, I just was far too convinced of getting them safe before paying attention to my daughter, who wasn't going anywhere.

"Nightsky wants to talk to you." She said matter of factly.

Those words cut through me and I then lost focus, I turned around in my office chair and looked down at my daughter with a grin.

"Hunny, Nightsky can't talk to me, because he's not real." I said, I figured I might as well attempt at doing this to make sure the deed to the house got stored, I might have been cold but, Jeez if I'd forget one of these papers, we could all be homeless!.

"That's just what Nightsky said you would say, Nightsky will talk to you later then" She said as she waddled away, I had absolutely no time to say another word before she was gone, around the corner, now playing with a toy truck with 'Nightsky'.

Then, next year, I had a dream about something...And God I wish I would have listened sooner.

The night after Marmar's fifth birthday, I was exhausted and sleeping, and while I was sleeping, I was dreaming that I was in my police cruiser, driving down the road, Marmar was in the passenger seat, and I was smiling and giggling, but the dream got strange as, I noticed the cruiser wasn't even moving, It felt as though it was, but nothing, we were stationary.

Then, in front of my face, this small animal manifested out of a small black hole, you know, like the black holes you see on Discovery channel?, Yeah one of those.

It was simply adorable, it's body itself was made of stars, it seemed as though if it was against the starry night's sky it would be transparent...that's when I made the connection "Nightsky."

"Big bird, protect little bird, do not go, do not go!" The little creature squeaked in a voice that was both adorable, yet, astoundingly serious.

"What do you mean don't go?" I replied, with a curious expression, but before I got my answer, I woke up with a start.

I disclaimed the dream as thinking about this damn imaginary friend too much, and rolled out of bed, I looked to the door as Marmar stood in the doorway.

"Good morning Mar" I said groggily as I grabbed a shirt, sliding it on.

"Daddy, you forgot what day it is." Mar said with an innocent, yet upset tone, pointing to the calendar, I noticed her hand pointing at the day's date, 'Marmar work' was written on the date's square.

DAMNIT! Bring your daughter to work day...I forgot all about it, but it's fine, I can take her on the speeding patrol and give her a few fun rides in the cruiser.

A few hours later, Marmar and I were in the cruiser, driving down the highway at a decent rate, smiling and joking.

Then, I noticed a strange feeling in the gas pedal, Oh my god, It was stuck...

The cruiser began barreling down the road, we were increasing speed at an extremely fast rate.

"DADDY, MAKE IT STOP" Marmar said from the passenger seat.

I Couldn't stop the car, it was too late, a corner came up faster than the car, and the last thing I remember is the front bumper hitting the guardrail, after that, darkness...

I sworn that I was dead, Katherine, she'd be devistated, if the impact killed me, Marmar can't possibly be here on Earth, I accepted my fate as I watched the blackness in my eyes..

Out of the blackness I saw tons of stars, illuminating my vision, the stars became tighter and closer together, and I nearly gasped without a body to do it with, which was shocking, as the stars became corporial, as Nightsky looked me dead in the face.

"Not imaginary, I proove it, I love Marmar, and her birth giver." Nightsky said with a cute smile, as it did a backflip in the starry sky I saw in my eyes, and then, a brief shock of light hit my head.

"Daddy?" I heard in my head, as I sat up, In front of me, the devistated wreck of the cruiser, up against the tree, bent, and completely ruined, a tire still spinning.

"Mar...Are you okay?!" I screamed as I held her in my arms after easing off of the ground.

"Not imaginary, Nightsky saved us!" Marmar said innocently.

Both of us were without injury when the ambulances show up, the press and the doctors called it "A miraculous coincidence." and even Katherine denies Nightsky's existance.

But even to this day, in 2013, seven year old Marmar and I both realize, that Nightsky is not imaginary, and is a member of this family, why?, because Nightsky has been there from day one, and kept this family from one abrupt end.
