Tremor City Primer 1
#3 of Bios
A short primer explaining some of the major events in my supehero setting and some of the factions in the latter.
Tremor City, a massive urban sprawl rivaling the city of New York in terms of sheer size and one of THE places to be in the year 2067. It started off a small backwater going by the name Tremorville around 1958. It wasnt until a hyper-intelligent extra-terrestrial became mayor that the once tiny Tremorville grew into the now sprawling Tremor City.
Tremor City is also home to many superheroes and metasapients. Though that number has sadly decreased since The Great Magic Drain.
The Great Magic Drain will go down in history as one of the greatest defeats superheroes have ever endured. It was basically a complete and total loss of magic from planet Earth. Magical heroes and villains were either de-powered or killed depending on how vital magic was to their existence, magical artifacts became inert or destroyed and once dark and corrupting tomes were now able to be read without penalty or consequence.
With the dawn of PHALANX (Who we will get to later) and hitherto unknown corruption being discovered in the ranks of heroes a Super-Registration Act was passed and eventually applied to all of the US of A. Nowadays Unregistered Superheroes are viewed with mistrust and denied privilages such as access to crime scenes.
There are several factions in Tremor City. These are but a few of them:
PHALANX: Governement-sanctioned exterminators of corrupt and abusive heroes. Formed in 2013 after a psionic hero was discovered using his powers for sexual liasons. Since then they have been a mainstay of every city with a metasapien presence in them. Their signature clothing item is dark grey fishermans pants hoisted by suspenders and worn over body armor.
Black Marker: Metasapiens, civilians and politicians alike whisper in hushed tones about a group of anti-heroes known only as Black Marker. Their jobs are those that other heroes or soldiers wouldnt have the stomach or morality for such as dismantling warlords in third-world countries along with their child armies. To say their buisness is dirty would be an understatement of legendary proportions.
Gaia's Terror: An ecoterrorist villain group. These guys take "Act natural" to its logical extreme. They dont shower, they cull their weak and gorge on sapient flesh like it was nobodies buisness. They are also responsible for the infamous "Ecobomb" attack wherein Tremors city center was transformed into a jungle and any people caught in the blastwave were turned into literal man-shaped vegetables. Rumor around the watercooler is that they are lead by a hero composed of plant matter gone mad.
AMIC: AKA Why-You-Dont-Do-Corporate-Sabotage-With-Bombs. This corporation did just that and it ended up with them being flagged as terrorists and all their funds taken and handed over to charity by a group of heroes who didnt fear a class-action lawsuit. Their CEO is still at large and if any supers or civvies have info they are to immediatly report to Tremor PD for further instructions.
