A tale of two warring dragon tribes, the Arkei and the Vishtaal. Although deep down very similar, the two clans have a burning hatred for the other.

To soothe the growing tides for war, two of their royals are to be betrothed. The young prince and princess, Dusklight and Sungleam.

Dusk sighed deeply, keeping still as his maid adjusted his shirt. She smiled at him and he frowned even more. What reason was there to be so cheerful?

"Aw, please don't look so sour, my prince," the maid cooed, suppressing a grin. She had been tending to the young Vishtaal royal for the past five years, and he was just as aloof and moody as ever. Today was a very special day and she hoped that it would serve to brighten his spirits. "You're going to meet a little princess today! Aren't you excited?"

"No," Dusk answered flatly. He knew Millien was only trying to cheer him up, but her attempts were in vain. Granted, he might have been a little eager to meet a princess under normal circumstances. But these _weren't _normal circumstances: the princess was from the tribe they were warring with, the Arkei. Although they were both of the same dragon race, the Sekrei, Arkei were filthy, brutish dragons who relied more on muscle and force than the elegant magics of the Vishtaal. How could he possibly get along with one of them? And a _baby, _no less! It was absolutely ridiculous. "She's going to be a bother, Millie. I just know it."

"Oh, you don't know that," Millien smiled soothingly behind him. It was rare for the young prince to take to people, and she was very happy that he'd gone so far as to give her a nickname. She smoothed out his dark blue fur, proud of its healthy sheen and color. As with all Sekrei dragons, they were furred, and kept their coats clean to show off their status. "You might actually end up liking her and becoming good friends!"

"Yeah, right," the young prince muttered sarcastically, rolling his fading gray eyes. His vision had been receding constantly since the day he was born. He knew that one day, maybe even as soon as reaching adulthood, he would be rendered completely blind. In the past, this had terrified him. How would he see the people who meant so much to him? How, when he eventually came to power, would he see oncoming threats? But at this point, he just learned to accept it. "Would you want to marry an Arkei?"

"There! All done, your highness," Millie said, avoiding his question. She stood up tall and took a step back to admire her handiwork. She had dressed Dusk in one of his best royal outfits: black, slightly roomy pants and a matching open jacket bordered with silver to show off his wealth. She giggled at his slightly lanky form, earning her a sharp glare from the young boy. "I'm sorry, Dusk. You just look so cute!" she gushed, hugging him.

"I am not," the boy growled, pouting and folding his arms. "Do I really have to go, Millie?"

"Yes, Dusk" Millie said, stroking the top of his head. "Your mother wants to finally settle the battle with the Arkei. The best way to do that is for you to become... er, friends, with the Arkei princess. You understand?"

"I guess," Dusk said, clearly not. "So, what time is she supposed to be coming along? Let's get this over with."

Millie continued her duties, smoothing out his dark blue fur with her brush "She and her escorts should be here in less than an hour. Now, come along! We have to meet your mother and sister in the middle of the square! We want to be there to greet our visitors, don't we?"

Dusk sighed, taking her hand and letting her lead him to the center of the village.
