#45 of Book 2 - N.D.'s Reign

Eurasia has gotten himself into a bind. Who is this crocodile? Why is she out for Eurasia? And what is Nia's relation to her?

It was not my time yet. Darkness wrapped around my throat and smothered me, until I found something that would save me. A darker darkness....left to rot in legends for millennia...paying the ultimate price for freedom.

Date: December 4th Location: "Error" Time: 11:56 pm

The closer you got to the planet's single ocean, the less cities and life you would find. Normally water would be the perfect place for making docks and for a city to flourish, but the waters were safe for no one except those who had the benefit of Abu's full technology for protection. There were very vew towns at the shore shielded by Abu's patented "Sity Shield" technology, which compassed the entire town, and about half a mile of water in a shield that could be regulated at certain points to allow entrance. Anywhere else though, were barren mountains and desert, with warp points few and far in a locale where progression was not in demand.

The sky was darker than normal, covered by deep black clouds and shooting down lightning. The bolts of electricity destroyed the ground, causing hundreds of sparks, explosions and craters in the desolate area In a bright flash appeared the purple haired dragoon of dark fire, Aisarue, brushing his shirt off to meet with someone who had something to say to his face. Aisarue looked around, seeing destruction and devastation all over, the scent of burnt death strong in the air.

"Hey! You done fucking around! Kinda in a hurry here!", he yelled, a larger, more massive bolt of thunder striking right in front of him. He merely shielded his eyes from the flash, not flinching what-so ever from the explosion caused by it. From the crater stood a figure, one a bit taller but completely dressed in a brown cloak that covered him from head to toe. Aisarue looked quite annoyed, wiping off the dirt from his shirt and walking up to the cloaked figure, "Okay watch it. I'm not here to be shocked!", he scowled, knowing that Michael's life was on the line now and what he was up against, was not in his favor even with the help of the dragoon of wind.

"....I'm here to do what I was told to do. This is "his" last request...due to the regret in his heart from how he treated that dragoon.", said the enigmatic voice, holding out a hand that was covered in a purple glove. Purple electricity began to crackle and sputter, becoming more and more concentrated as power was built up. Aisarue received a call a few days back, a call he found hard to believe. Though whatever the reason was, it was a request to help his lesser goody-goody half, and that was a reason enough to are. If the dragoon of fire goes, he goes with him, so it was important to keep Michael alive for the time being, "After this...if I see you again...I will kill you...keep in mind.", said the voice, Aisarue merely flipping him off and holding up his P.I.C., "Sure sure, fuck you too. Don't think you're hot shit since you were just freed by dumb luck. I'll enjoy wiping the floor with your corpse if you try anything. You may have been Mike's friend, but not mine.", gave Aisarue as a rebuttal, his company remaining quiet before launching forth the electricity from his hand.

Aisarue quickly warped away a safe distance, the massive burst of energy causing an EMP within 100 miles, which luckily no one was around to experience it. The lightning went full speed into the sky, speeding past the atmosphere at about 4,000 miles a second, speeding right into space. Fyre was busy trying her hand at the rather large structure in front of her, but the force field was shrugging off her claws with little effort. However she then felt a cold chill go down her back, barely turning before feeling a strong shock that not only went through her but struck the Bastille Maison Des Dymons. Due to the vacuum of space, her gasp and yelp of pain would be silenced, being paralyzed for some time.

Hidden in the shadows, Aisarue was doing his own part for his own goals, knowing that he would not expire before Michael made his choice. Lareien was worried for her boyfriend, happy that he was okay when he returned, but his health was deteriorating as weeks few by. He was coughing more, bleeding more and found it hard to even speak properly as well. Aisarue however kept Lareien at ease, saying that he had about 2 more months left, and "Eurasia" would agree by the end of the month, "Lareien...don't worry. He has no choice to be honest....and although I use force on anyone in my way, he's an exception...as are you my aquatic lover.", he explained, only getting squeezed into her mammoth bosom as she squeezed him tightly into her warmth.

Whenever I see a croc...It takes me back to that day..the blood filled waters...the cries for help and the panic caused that year. If it wasn't for my brother, I would have not survived that encounter with death by chomp. Even with all my training...gators...crocs...I see that face...and I lose control of my focus.

Date: December 11th Location: Saint Falda; Tomodachi Estate - Top floor balcony Time: 8:01 pm

The dragoon was motionless in the ball of h20, unable to gather the strength to get out nor conjure his weapon to attempt to cut through. Things were a bit blurry, and muffled, hearing that they were speaking but unable to make out the words. He wouldn't have to worry about drowning for another 2 hours, having taken extreme training to enhance his lung capacity to the maximum back when he working on being a full dragoon so long ago, "Man...what do I do...wait...let me try...", he shut his eyes and focused, trying to use the connection he had with Fyre to attempt get help. Unfortunately it seemed that she was either asleep or dead, as he couldn't reach her, thinking most likely its the former.

"I don't see why you'd go after him. He's a nice guy, for a human. All he's done since his big appearance at Vanaxxis was oppose N.D., which pretty much helps everyone in the end. I'm not saying he's smart for doing that but...however what's your stake in this? Actually a more important question is, why did you leave the Float Congregation. You know the the punishment is exile, like they did with me. Last I checked, you were pretty attached to the city.", questioned Nia, eying the human and seeing that he wasn't drowning so far, despite a minute passing already. Though he didn't seem to be struggling anymore, probably knowing its pointless given that he was completely submerged in his weakness.

Celqua walked around her prisoner, patting at the water prison which was keeping him inside via a tension barrier, which as she thought was strong enough to subdue someone as powerful as the dragoon of fire, "They're making an exception for me. Things have happened...that require a vast amount of money. Something drastic. You know that money from the outside world has no value to us, however there is something out here to save everyone. Someone killed the Matriarch...", she explained with a grim face, Nia gasping as that was horrible news. Usually a slain leader would bring their civilization to a halt, their distance away from society provided the perfect security as none of their own people would willingly murder each other.

The Matriarch was responsible for the birthing of the congregation as well, understanding the severity of the situation, "There is something else though...an alternative which costs...300 Million Kash about from what I was told. A human like this...I'm still surprised he's worth that much. So easy to catch.", continued Celqua, smirking sinisterly. As she looked at her prisoner, he looked away, as if scared of her face. Nia found it weird too, doubting that he was worth so much now.

"Now then sister, will you help me deliver him? Or will you turn your back on us again.", Nia was asked by her sister, not liking how she said it. She walked forward toward the dragoon, who seemed to be not having much trouble under water, putting a palm to the water prison, "....you say that like I turned my back on you the first time. I wasn't technically part of you to begin with...I just had to find the answers I've been looking for.", replid Nia, getting a growl from her croc sister.

The water bubble containing her prize began to lift into the air then floated at Celqua, "Yes, and you activated our curse on a stupid male. You knew the consequences of being around these savages. Males are a blight on our world....they cause nothing but death and destruction over trivial matters. And one as responsible for killing the Matriarch...you wouldn't happen to know how that male came to knew our secret location that was guarded since our existence.", questioned Celqua with a very suspicious tone, one that offended Nia.

She shook her head and put a finger to her snout, trying not to think that her old friend believed she had sold out her family, "Are you trying to insinuate something? Last thing I'd do is put you and everyone in danger. I left and I had no intention of returning to ruining the lives of those who cared for me. Get that stupid notion out of your head!", she snarled, Celqua glaring at the dragoness. Suddenly there was a crash, one that made the croc flinch as she blocked some shards that came from her side. The water prison that was holding the dragoon became frozen and fell down to earth, shattering into many pieces while leaving Michael intact but shivering, "I-I'm free!...W-what was that?...sooo...cold..", asked the half frozen Michael, Celqua jumping back and taking a look around to find the one responsible.

"...ice. Only one person with that kind of power around here. DarkStar, why do you interfere?! You refused the job!", she snarled, Michael's eyes widening upon hearing the familiar name. From the shadows jumped someone dressed in a ninja gi, colored black with his eyes only visible. He stood at a height of 6'8, only slightly taller than Michael himself, "John? That you?", asked the dragoon of fire, getting only silence from him as he formed kunai of ice between his fingers. Ice formed around his hand and arm, Celqua forming a ball of water around her left hand, "You're an idiot to let your guard down Mike. If I hadn't heard that she took the hit on you, you'd be dead right now...hell even you Nia. You're next on her hitlist."

Nia had heard of the ice ninja known as Darkstar, but never had she seen him in person. Assassins rarely met face to face normally, but what he said troubled her in many ways, "So you're Darkstar...the infamous nice ninja. I have some questions I want to ask but...Celqua. You really planned on killing me? Your own sister?", she asked in a troubled tone, hoping that he was lying but given how she acted at him, probably was the truth. The croc remained quiet as Michael stepped back, not liking how fearful he was of her due to her species. The wind blew as moonlight began to fade, darkening the area in which Celqua took a few steps back, "You're no sister. You're a traitor! It's your fault the Matriarch is dead! No one else could know where we lived!", she shouted at Nia, throwing the ball of water at her which speed up quickly and took the form of a spear.

Darkstar took quick action as he tossed two kunai at the water shot, one after the other in which the first one froze the shot while the 2nd shattered through it and flew straight towards the crocess. She snarled in pain as he hit her in the shoulder, growling in anger as she quickly jumped back and holding back the blood dripping down her arm, "This isn't...over!...you'll all pay for this...you..males. But you especially Nia.", she promised angrily, jumping off the balcony and vanishing into the night. Michael breathed a sigh of relief, glad she was gone as she was disturbing his focus, "Man...whats up with her. She seemed to be angry at you Nia...but how do you know John--erm Darkstar? Are you a ninja too?"

The ice dragoon face-palmed and turned toward his comrade, shaking his head and helping him up while Nia pondered what had happened, "Thanks for the help...not that I needed it. She improved her technique but its doubtful she could've penatrated my scales. And No i'm not a ninja. Darkstar is simply...famous in my line of work. But for you to show your face out of no where...guessing you're friends with this dragoon.", she asked while getting a stare from the ninja. He merely nodded and pointed towarded the party, "I know this coward yes. But you should get back into the party. No one will dare attack if you're in there and in a crowd...we'll talk about this later...Eurasia."

There was a loud gasp coming from inside, the crowd being shocked at something and making Michael and Nia turn for a moment to wonder what was going, "Huh...Phrin is probably waiting for me too. Well can we--? Dang, just like a ninja.", remarked the dragoon of fire, Nia chuckling too as she didn't notice him vanish but heard stories about it. Darkstar was considered a legend among the assassin's circle, completing his jobs in record time with no evidence. Michael shook his head off of any remaining ice and looked up to Nia, getting a pat on the head from her large hand, "That he is. Sorry to have gotten you in that situation...I know you're a dragoon...with a massive price on your head. But you're not a bad person from what I heard, and meeting you here face to face only proves it. You're friends with a well renown dragon lawyer, and you fight N.D. Keep it up Eurasia. Don't forget many of us although silent, are rooting for you.", she complimented with a smile, Michael feeling better now and his fear of that croc girl fading away.

The two walked inside together, with Nia asking about if there was more juice still. Phrin finished her conversation a few minutes after Michael went inside, pardoning herself to leave early as something seemed to be troubling her. Nia gave the dragoon a warm hug and wrote her number down for him, letting him know that she wanted to talk to him down the line. The dragoon gave off a different vibe from any male she had met before, a warm sensation going over her scales being around him, as if he was gentle and innocent. The kind of male the world needed instead of the egotistical, self centered and barbaric males she's had to take out over the years. She left the party soon after, thoughts on what to do with her current situation in her current career choice. A visit to her employer was in order, wanting some answers and planning on getting them even if they were probably going to deny it.

Location: Orez Delivery Company, Basement Time: 8:20 pm

As soon as Phrin and Michael were out of view after leaving the part, they teleported back home in Ruru's basement. Michael checked his P.I.C. and saw he missed a message from Ruru, stating that he would be away for the night on business. Mentioning something about the perks of a job well done equals free stay at a 5 star resort, which honestly to Michael, sounded more like pleasure than business. As the dragoon took a seat on his bed, Phrin was relieved to hear that his friend wouldn't be here, wanting a pow-wow session with the dragoon, "Well I apologize Eura, that we couldn't stay longer..and that I left you alone. What the idiot told me was actually important...important enough that I think you should know. But before that, did you enjoy yourself?", she asked with a smile, taking a seat beside him as he took off the top half of his suit, leaving a clean white t-shirt.

Michael shook his head to get it back to normal, albeit a bit hard from the gel used earlier. Getting out of that suit was a relief, taking off the gloves he wore also and then nodding at her, "Yea, that apple juice was great. There were a bit too many people for my taste...umm...what did he tell you Phrin?", replied the dragoon, then asking about what seemed to be important. Phrin looked away for a moment, then back at him to pat his shoulder and then stand in front of him, "Well before I even tell you, pop quiz. You familiar with the Wellingtons?", she questioned, the human tilting his head at the sudden question. Interestingly he actually was somewhat aware of that name, but not quite pin pointing its origin.

It was on the tip of his tongue as he took a minute to think, knowing he heard that name somewhere, "Wellington...wait...I think i remember hearing about that back when I was taking classes to be a dragoon. They were...umm...weren't they...that thing...you know...umm..", he stammered, feeling embarrassed that he did not know the answer, even while it was right under his nose. Phrin laughed and nodded, it being good news that he was somewhat knowledgeable about a very special family, "Well you're close. They are a linage of humans, separate from dragoons. They have powers rivaling that of dragoons, but some time ago, there was a huge mess involving them. Later on the first half breed Wellington fled here a few years back to escape the horrible treatment he got for being not only a half breed, but also his responsibility. I represented him in court as he was tried for murder...you have to understand how severe it is for a dragon to be taken to court here. Usually its automatic death penalty, but I fought all I could to make sure he got proper representation and justice."

The caste system was very harsh on the lower ranked creatures, humans getting a bad rap and a good amount of hatred for being at the top, beside canines. Michael was not too aware of things aside that dragons were indeed in the minority as he stayed in Mystril. He nodded and listened to Phrin explain the outcome of the court case, with Casey Wellington going missing, "...and it seems that Casey is looking for the one responsible. He gave me a lead that I'm going to follow but I was hoping to ask...if things get dicey, can I count on your support to back me up? If Casey tries to attack me, I fear I may not be able to stop him. He has strength above that of the average Wellington, most likely due to his half breed nature.", continued Phrin, worried for her safety somewhat as she give some but not complete dedication to her training while not lawyering.

Michael gave a nod almost immediately while holding up his P.I.C., "Of course! You really expected me to say no to a friend? Keep me posted on that if you could. I'm not going anywhere so I'll answer any calls from you.", said the dragoon with confidence, Phrin breathing a sigh of relief and wondering why she even bothered to worry in the first place. This dragoon was the real deal, true to his word and honest to a T, things she'd wish more dragons could see. Dragoons were pretty much extinct after the event 50 years ago, but things are finally starting to pick up. Phrin sat back down and wondered what else to talk about, thinking to what she was told before arriving, "Thank you sweety. I knew you'd be there for me.", she said with a smile, giving her dragoon friend a hug on his waist.

The dragoon was surprised by it, returning the hug with a light smile. Phrin looked up and gave him a pat on the back, glad to see at least some form of good emotion in her favorite human, "Abu got me up to speed on the details, and told me to help get you started a new kind of training. The Absolute Focus kind.", explained the dragoness, knowing that it will definitely come in handy for him. Michael was a bit confused on what she was saying, never hearing of the technique she was mentioning. Before he could ask, Phrin put a finger to his mouth, giving the signal that she was not done talking yet, "Wait wait, hold all questions until the end. As you know, I'm a world class Lawyer, you ever wonder why? And why Abu is so good at his work? It was only recently that I found out that I use a very advance technique in the courtroom...which can be applied to when you fight in your future battles. Absolute focus, a moment where your brain starts to work at it's full capacity, and you experience a dilation in time...giving you extra precious moments to read your opponents moves for a counter attack. Abu works so fast is because when he literally puts his mind to it, he's working at a faster pace than the rest of us. Though doing this requires a clear mind, and intense concentration. When I utilize it, I can look at people doing things unconsciously...what you'd normally overlook."

The dragoon was unsure of what she meant exactly, but one thing he did notice was that Abu worked at such a fast pace while he did any work. Michael always thought it was because he was so smart, as intelligent people were used to doing things with ease, "And there you go twitching you right index finger. You do that when you're unsure and want to say something, but haven't gotten all of your thoughts together to do so just yet.", explained Phrin, seeing Michael's unconscious habit. It surprised him as he was indeed slightly moving only his index finger, quickly balling up his hand into a fist before looking up at her, "I understand I think. But you're saying this will help me fight? I don't think I could do that. You said it yourself that it requires intense concentration and a clear head? Those two are hard to do mid battle!", added Michael, feeling doubtful he could pull it off in the heat of battle. When he is fighting, he was trained that all he had to focus on was the target at hand and to avoid civilian causalities.

Phrin Chuckled and patted the red headed human, noting that it was difficult and would normally take a good amount of time to master, "Don't worry, I'm here to teach you the basics. If you can do that much, then you have the potential to master it. That's what Abu said anyway....", she muttered at the end, Michael looking up and thinking hard about it. It was then that he knew that doing something would keep his mind off his depressing thoughts, standing up checking under the bed, "Sounds like we'll need what Boris uses in his spare time to train. He actually just told me this the a few days ago....telling me that staying in shape would keep my mind busy..", remarked the dragoon, lifting the bed slightly to press a fairly big red button that was the size of his hand.

There was the sound of machinery beginning to operate beneath them, Phrin jumping up into Michael's arms in surprise as she was wondering what was going on. The shelves holding several boxes began to move, being tethered to the floor while it began to part in the middle, "Relax Phrin...it's okay. This is Boris's personal training bay, where he said he had Abu install years ago so he could do his training in secret. Made of the strong stuff so it won't collapse unless you go all out.", explained the dragoon, casually holding on to her as they both saw the entire storeroom open up to reveal a lower floor, though having to reach there by either jumping down 30 feet or taking a ladder that was located right at any of the four edges of the square shaped room. Like a gentleman, the dragoon jumped down while carrying the smaller dragoness, Phrin not minding being in his arms as she did like him a bit.

"Hmm...this is actually perfect. Combat is how we can start training you. The courtroom is far too advanced for you to start off the bat.", she remarked, jumping off his arms and getting into a fighting stance. Michael was a little unsure on how to approach this, "Wait...I think I remember Rizan mentioning you took the same type of training she and Shyranrya did. You sure though?", he asked hesitantly, unbuttoning his suit and taking a deep breath. Phrin cracked her knuckles and nodded, seeing the dragoon tossing aside the top layer of his suit to fight in a bare white t-shirt. She herself had on her lawyer outfit, being of a knee high skirt and a top half similar to what the dragoon had on. She didn't have to worry about much, wearing her sports bra as she normally would to avoid unnecessary jiggling mid fight, "Yes, but I haven't finished it myself either. Balancing my work with this is not easy...but that's beside the point. Eurasia, listen well to what I have to say, and you'll master it in no time."

Chapter end.
