Part 2 of 2

The tale of Caelin. Professional Dragon-Singer, and how she got a bit better at her job thanks to some outside help.

So, that wraps up this short story. I'll do others of course, maybe fantasy like this. Maybe some simple canine/feline/etc. Maybe even mature stuff eventually. Depends on how good I turn out to be. Who knows?

The morning greeted Caelin like any other. She got up, checked her body odor, checked her armaments, tucked up her cot, and ate breakfast at the fire. The minutes shortly after she woke up was the deviation to the norm as she was greeted from the den by an absolutely chipper Jackie. The dragoness didn't step foot outside, but she was definitely happy to see Caelin.

"Morning!" She purred as watched Caelin kick a bit of dirt onto her fire. Before Caelin could do anything else, the crimson lady demanded. "Food! We're hungry...why do you sleep so late?" Now the needy dragoness was pouting. Sighing she gestured for the dragoness to get her mate, and shortly enough, Barsaen had wound out of the cave and was stretching for flight....while Caelin prepped the saddle. Noticing it as soon as he was done stretching, more of Caelin's diplomatic skills were needed.

Barsaen stated simply. "Child, you are not riding me." He huffed a small cloud of smoke her way to signify it...only to have the wind carry it off.

Caelin sighs and looks at him. "Barsaen, I know you don't like this...and I don't like doing this to you. The rules are the rules though, and unless you want me to hunt on my own for the both of you...it needs to be done alright? I want to finish this as friends Barsaen, not having you trying to bite my head off."

The copper dragon does not look at all happy with that prospect, until he looks at Caelin again, and suddenly seems to calm entirely, even going so far as to look smug. "You are right dragon-singer, but please. leave me with some dignity. No saddle." He didn't sound to be pleading, but Caelin smiled, and nodded. She agreed that things would go more smoothly this way. Leaving the saddle she moved over to the copper and got ready to leap on him, placing her hand against her side, instantly regretting it.

Pain exploded from the contact as if her hand had just been cleaved in two. She exclaims in pain and falls back, breaking contact, but the pain only increases in intensity. Looking at her hand to check for wounds, what she saw left her speechless despite the pain. Her hand was slowly increasing in size as she got to watch her hand change, the skin looked to dry out as it became hard a leathery as well as tinting a darker shade. It didn't stop there as that effect began to spread up her arm, her skin began to segment off, and only continue to harden as it darkened to a copper in color. Her fingernails pushed down through the flesh and began to form into claws as she watched. She knew what was happening even if she was powerless to stop it. She pulled her horror-struck gaze from her now draconic hand to look pleadingly for help to Barsaen, who was already looking her over worriedly.

"Caelin. Are you alright? What's wrong?" He asked in a worried tone, but Caelin didn't understand, could he not see what was happening!? She lifted her hand to show him, but as soon as she moved her hand there was an odd tingling sensation across every inch of her body, she could even feel it inside her. The pain vanished and as she brought her hand up, it looked perfectly normal. No hint of the changes that had been occurring Caelin choked out, "B-but, my hand it..."

She had no way to explain it, she was apparently the only one who saw what was happening to her, but it was just so real that there had to be a reason. She stood up checking her hand for any wounds. "Barsaen, I think I may be ill, so you have permission to go hunting on your own until I'm sure I'm well." Barsaen seemed overjoyed by this as he didn't even wait to check on her before his wings were out. She'd never actually seen his wings extended, or had the "pleasure" of being close enough to touch a dragon at take off due to them either being stationary in their cave, or taking off from a distance for an attack. She was greeted by this new experience, by a downflap that threw her onto her backside. The last she signs of the copper was the sun glinting off his copper scales, the dust settling as he stopped swirling it around, and a deep base chuckling at the sight of a very dusty Caelin.

The time spent with Jackie was.....odd. To say the least, she acted more like a curious hatchling then an adult. She kept sniffing at Ansera before smiling and moving away. At first she was worried the dragon was too hungry to wait, but the fact she commented that she liked the way Ansera smelled this morning, that it was pretty, set her a bit at ease. That and Jackie didn't stop watching her for even a second, if she tried talking to the dragoness, all she got was silence and a smile.

When the copper got back, it was of relief to both of them, not just because every talon was dug into the ribs of venison, but because he was back to distract the constant and unsettling gaze of the dragoness. Said dragoness greeted her mate with excess nuzzling...and stealing a single white-tail with her jaws, before dragging it back to the cave watching them both suspsiciously. As soon as she was gone Barsaen looks to Caelin curiously and lets the venison down on a nice flat rock before sniffing curiously at Caelin, which of course didn't go unnoticed.

"Umm, hey big lizard. The deer is over there....and if you are trying to smell if I'm hungry. Yeah. Starving, may I claim some?" , Caelin asked. Barsaen looked puzzled, before turning his tail-end to her and starting for the meat..as his tail coiled to Caelin's waste. He didn't seem to be attacking, just carrying her as if she was a child. Caelin was not amused by this as she opened her mouth to speak, only to cry out in pain as she could feel the air crushed from her lungs. She tried to move her arm to conjure a force spell to free herself, but as if in reply her ribs felt as if they had burst into flame. Stars burst into view and everything went black.

Waking up took 4 tries, since the first 3 were met with a wave of pain, naseua and sickening or alien smells that overloaded her senses. The only constant was that she must have been wearing some mask because her view of the darkened cave was obscured. Though when she woke up, she found she couldn't move, granted it felt like she'd been rolling in thorns and probably most of her bones were broken after that tail crushing. _What had made him so hostile?_She was still wearing that weird mask she saw before. Maybe so she couldn't call out? Either way, they couldn't keep her here forever.

"Finally you're awake! I almost thought I killed you by mistake, it shouldn't have been that traumatic.." Spoke the familiar voice of Barsaen.

As if confirming her suspicions, in came the copper tormenter from a facet in the wall she might not have noticed otherwise. He looked the same as ever, but strangely she regarded him as handsome, which was new. She didn't voice it and, finding she could speak, opened her mouth to do so, only to hiss in pain at the moving of her jaw. Great, he broke that too, that or the shiny mask she was wearing was causing her the pain. Honestly, she had to admit it didn't feel like anything was broken, but that her body itself was waking up from sleep, and everything just felt wrong. She was slumped over on her side, and she could tell she was also naked, but it felt like she was laying on a part of her...but she could tell it wasn't her arm.

Barsaen moved closer purring lightly, "Now stay calm, I don't know how much testing you've done, but the new muscles are probably sore since they had to grow in....that..or you are still at the part where you think I was trying to kill you either way I need you..... "

She had stopped listening after that as she'd finally managed to sit up and see the tail sitting in her lap...but it didn't look like her lap anymore, she could see where the alien appendage continues from her bottom, only to end in the thing on her lap. Only by association did she know that was her lap, because she could feel it, but the copper scaled form was not what she had expected to see, the 4 'finger hands' with vicious talons tipping them was also new. It didn't take her any time at all to realize she was staring at the form of a dragon. Well, a dragoness. Her brain just wouldn't mesh together that she is the copper scaled dragoness. Her newly elongated jaw just hung open in disbelief, even as Barsaen checked her over approvingly.

"Well, I see you've noticed my gift finally. You are now one step closer to dragon kind." This was accented by a sort of ta-da motion with his wings and tail, "I figured you'd want to still be bipedal though, so you still have that.."

Caelin didn't have a response since she was busy trying to stand. Granted she was doing well for having her entire body becoming an alien contraption, but the fact she was growling under her breath and could only manage to crouch without falling didn't speak well for her.

Caelin wasn't listening even as Barsaen began to gently help her get her steadying with letting her brace herself on his tail and helpful advice. She was fuming, literally, about this. Sure, she would be stronger than any human man could be and her job just got a bit easier, but her mind was already contemplating the bad. How would she explain this? Where would she live? How much would new armor cost? The questions seemed endless, but she didn't voice any of them.....or she thought she didn't. In fact, she voiced every single one of them. No matter what, things were going to be a bit different for Caelin. Better, she admitted. Just different....finding a husband was a whole different ball game.
