The Aneen are a race of human-shaped insectoids, similar in appearance to wasps. They are native to the tropical world of Cryona, though they are rarely seen.

Physiology

The Aneen have a similar physiology to Earth wasps, though they are bipedal (partially).

From the head down:

Antenna: The antenna of an Aneen are usually about 1 foot to 1 1/2 feet long, though they typically hang down just above the individual's eyes, reducing their length to about half of their full length.

Head: An Aneen's head is roughly shaped like a human's, both in size and appearance. Their eyes are compound eyes and commonly blue or black. In terms of size and position, an Aneen's eyes are roughly human-like. An Aneen's mouth is formed by two mandibles and several more mouth parts. Scientists are still trying to figure out how this particular mouth structure is capable of human speech.

Torso: An Aneen's torso is very comparable to a human's, though slimmer and more lithe. Their back is covered in hard, overlapping segments of chitin in alternating black and yellow colors (matched on the front of the torso). The front of their body is covered in a short fur. Breast sizes range between D and DD cup with black nipples.

Arms: An Aneen has four arms, two at the shoulder and two attached roughly 1/4 of the way down the torso. The arms are long and slender, covered in hard chitin except at the joints where they are covered in soft yellow fur.

Hands: An Aneen's hands have three fingers (one of which is a thumb). Like the arms, these fingers are long, slender, and covered in hard chitin (except at the joints, which are covered in yellow fur).

Legs: See arms

Feet: A Aneen's foot is "switch-backed", which means the ankle is located higher up the leg and the Aneen balences of the tip of its foot. These feet are slim (like stilts).

Abdomen: An Aneen's abdomen is large (about equal to the size of their torso in length and far larger around. The top is covered in a hard chitin and the bottom in a soft fur, both of which are patterned in yellow and black. At the end is a stinger and a slit just below it which contains the Aneen's ovipositor. The stinger can be ripped out, causing disorientation for up to two minutes. The stinger can inject either a legal poison (100% lethal up to 300 lbs body mass) or a paralyzing agent.

Other Sexual Characteristics: An Aneen has a female slit between their legs, roughly comparable to a human female's.

Society

The Aneen live in a hive society, but there is no queen. Rather, all members are capable of producing, laying, and inseminating eggs. Decisions are handled in a democratic manner where a decision is made based on popular vote (where popular is defined as roughly 85% of the hive population).

This process occurs via complex pheromones that scientists still are having trouble understanding.

All Aneen have three names. Their Scent-Name (a unique pheromone signature), their Song-Name (a complex series of buzzes and clicks for first introductions), and their English-Name (self-explanatory).

Accents vary widely across the Aneen. Some members heavily interweave their words with various buzzes in place of similar sounds while others are completely proficient in English (and sometimes other languages). It mainly depends which language the individual learned first. Those who learned the native Aneen tongue first have a higher tendency to intersparce their words with buzzes.

Still a work in progress
