Introducing the 'Hunter'

The wolf stared at his 'catch' suddenly regretting the words he had uttered at the small, scared wolfess. His silver fur was currently dulled, so as to make him less distinguishable from the habitat around him. He now felt guilty, his blue eyes troubled as he wondered why he had let the guys from college dare him to come up on the mountain, and catch whatever he could.

Now he surveyed the obviously starved wolfess in the untra clever net hisfather had unknowingly paid for. His mind went blank, as he thought about the preparations that had gone on.

In the three weeks leading up to his trip, he had been a very busy wolf, as he really had wanted to prove he was one of the guys and not afraid. He could still remember all the preparations.

First he had had to think of an excuse to borrow the car, which normally wasn't such an easy task...the male wolf sighed, and shook his head, trying not to remember how he had had to argue, plead and eventually beg his father. With a low growl, he went to the car, parked a couple of miles away, unknowingly following the wolfess' path from just a few minutes ago.

When reaching the car, he took out what appeared to be a gun, an extra large foldaway cage, and some other bits which were currently in a plastic bag, and therefore unseen. Able to carry everything, the wolf made his way back towards where his phoney camp had been set up, determined to now do something for the poor malnourished and as he could now see, injured wolfess, left to roam alone on this dismal mountain.

Carefully he set the cage down, and unfolded it, revealing a cage that would be large enough to hold a mountain lion if needed, made from the storngest materials out on the market because it was, in fact a veterinary cage. Now unpacking the bag, he pulled out a muzzle, a first aid kit, and also a couple of bowls and packages of raw meat.

Now moving a whole lot more carefully, the wolf took a careful aim with the gun, and fired out a tranquiliser dart, hitting the wolfess square in the hindleg, right near her knee. Giving the sedative time to work, the wolf put his own covers into the cage, and amde the wolfess what would be a nice bed. Finally judging she was out after ten minutes which he carefully prepared for, the wolf lowered the net gently to the ground, fitted the muzzle on just in case the wolfess woke up unexpectedly, but instead of being cruel, he merely made sure the muzzle only fitted snugly.

Now almost ready for what he wanted to do, he gently restrained the wolfess down, using the net, and weighing down the edges with tent spikes so she couldn't struggle and hurt herself. he then very carefully unscrewed the cap of antiseptic cream, and dabbed it onto the spot where the dart had entered her leg, and then moving back up to her front end, he very tenderly cleaned the fur of her throat, and then put more cream there, trying to help her naturally fast healing powers.

Finding more cuts and grazes, the anthro wolf made sure the cream was dabbed adequately on them too. Finally doing the last of what he needed, he picked up the last hidden object, a microchipping gun, and still as gentle as possible, microchipped the wolf to his college dorm, where he was, fortunately allowed a pet.

Filling one of the bowls with water, he fixed it firmly to the side of the cage, so that unless she had thumbs, it wouldn't move. There was only three things left now, to fill and fix her food bowl, move the wolfess into the cage, and pack up ready to get back 'home. So he undone a package of the raw meat, trying not to heave at the feeling, fixed the heavy bowl to the cage and then ever so gently lifted the wolf onto the bed he had made, before locking the cage up, and adding padlocks so that no matter what, the cage was safe. He packed up what he needed to from the camp, and then began to slowly and painstakingly slowly drag the cage to the car, so that the long drive back could be started now.

As the wolfess started to wake up, slowly, groggily, he reached his paw in, and unclipped the muzzle, lifting the cage quickly into the boot of the car, and then shutting it, making sure the dog guard was also in place.

Packing the backseat up with stuff, the male wolf couldhear the greedy, still woozy sounds the wolfess made as she greedily gulped her food down. finishing the package of meat within minutes of started it, the meat was finished, the wolfess was once again asleep, still sleeping of the effects of the dart, taking a chance, the wolf leant in, and refilled the food back up, letting his paw brush over the wolfess' silkily soft fur taking his first chance to properly touch her.

With a sigh, he left the wolfess, and then leant again the car, appreciating the lonely beauty of this place, as the sun rose, and the dismal became the stunning, as the snow sparkled like diamonds in the brilliant, but still cold mountain air. Moving in to his dashboard, he removed the camera nestled safely there, and started to snap pictures of the surrounding countryside, making sure to document the area that the wolfess had been caught in, and also so he had a picture memory of the one place he had truly felt at peace in.

Once the last of the two films he had had were filled up, he placed the camera back in the dashboard, and slowly, regretfully walked around to the drivers seat of the large estate car, and carefully began to drive off, driving slow so that the car didn't bump, and jolt the wolfess unneccessarily. He grinned at himself in the rear view mirror, shifting gears as the car picked up a little speed, until he hit the highway, and shifted up another gear, cruising along. He relaxed, often looking back in the rear view to check on the wolfess. Occasionally he heard snuffling, and once the sound of her long tongue lapping at the water he had provided.

It was only when he was halfway to college, that the noise started, as the wolfess woke properly, and began to frantically throw herself at the cage doors, attempting to escape. Within seonds of her discovering the place was locked, she beganto gorlw, before letting out a low pitched howl, that none the less grew in intensity, before it died down, and became small uttered wolf sobs, as though she knew she would never see her home again.
