Bright coloured lights shine everywhere and the mood is excited, the gigantic red and white striped circus tent glooming in the dark as the many local people stroll along the many interesting performing artists. Cheerful music plays from the large music box near the entrance, the show will start in half an hour and the performers need to keep the crowd entertained before the real act. Amongst the many faceless and shallow people walks a young lynx girl, she's twenty years old and quite plain because she does not care much for fashion or how she looks. Dana is her name, and she came down to the circus to be away from her parents and friends for one night, having failed her grades in college she needs something to take her mind of the depression that followed.

She wears glasses, has her beautiful dark brown hair bound into a short tail and it bounces up and down her shoulders cheerfully as she walks, even though her own mood isn't very happy. Standing still near a fire breather, she looks in awe as the four armed and very muscled bovine holds four torches up and spits out the inflammable liquid, successfully setting it on fire in the air. The public applauds the freak and he bows down briefly, his tight leather pants is the only piece of clothing he wears. Dana would normally be upset that this circus exploits these poor deformed people, but tonight her mind is set on different things and she walks further.

A cute little siamese cat girl stands on a stage and sings in her beautiful voice to the crowd, only thing is that she has two heads. The girl can't be older than 10 years old and ironically is a siamese siamese cat twin. They look at each other, the crowd and generally both heads move with their own mind as they sing, two sets of the most beautiful angelic voices you've ever heard. It also seems that they're both in control of their part of the body, which means they must have learned very well how to cope with each others movements because their body moves flawlessly like a normal person would.

Then, Dana the lynx girl feels something pushing against her sides. She quickly looks down and watches a feral turkey snatch her wallet out of her purse, dressed up in a German Tyrol costume:"What the... give that back, you ugly beast!"Loud gobbling, the feral bird runs off with the wallet and disappears under the flaps of the entrance to the tent, a large muscular elephant guy blocks the access as he lifts a wooden cart full of people into the air with his trunk like he's some kind of a theme park attraction. Straightening her glasses, Dana walks up to the entrance but the huge elephant guy blocks her way, shaking his head at her and not speaking a word.

Understanding that this guy won't let her enter before the show will start, Dana feels like throwing a tantrum, this really isn't what she needs right now. She sticks her nose up in the air and walks away, out of the line of sight of the performing artists. Quickly she sneaks behind some of the wooden gypsy caravans which are probably the homes of the circus people, and tries to find another way in. Eventually she spots a loose flap of the tent and swiftly looks around to see if the coast is clear before stepping under it into the darkness of the circus tent.

There are only a few dimply lit oil lamps attached to some poles supporting the weight of the sail and surrounding the center stage. Heavy curtains mask one side of the makeshift room and otherwise the stage is surrounded by seats for the audience. Slightly frightened, Dana steps into the middle of the center ring and feels her shoes step onto the soft sawdust that covers it:"Hello? Is there anyone there? Your turkey stole my wallet and I want it back."She hears movement behind her and quickly turns around, a figure standing into the faint light in front of the heavy purple curtain. Dana presses her glasses a little further up her nose and doesn't know wether to be relieved or to be scared, she figures it's best not to make the other person wait:"Hello there, can you help me? Your turk..."

Before she could finish the sentence, the figure started walking towards her, due to the darkness it's very unclear what species that person is or even its gender, but the very mechanical movements make Dana's neck hair rise in fear. She sees a few shiny spots dangle above the threatening figure's head, as if something is sparkling glittery dust onto its head. Dana grabs her purse tightly and takes a few steps back, her feline nature kicking in defense and her hair rises under her clothes and in her tail, softly hissing to make the person know she's ready to defend herself. Almost tripping over the curb of the circular stage, the lynx girl briefly loses her balance and scrambles back up again, only to find she's alone again in the large room.

Looking around, she stumbles towards the opening she used for an entrance but even from a distance she can see it has somehow closed up. There's no way out unless you count the real exit with the performing artists in front of it. Feeling the dark gloom of the room dawn upon her, Dana's senses tingle with every passing moment, hearing and feeling her beat rapidly pump her blood through her veins in fear. "Herro, rittle girrl."

Almost jumping out of her skin, Dana turns towards the source of the voice and sees another person standing in the middle of the center stage, a raven with a top hat and a suit on, complete with a red tie and walking cane. His eyes are hidden under the rim of the hat, but he seems a little more friendly than the last person she's met. Shivering and her voice trembling, the scared lynx girl responds:"H-hello... your turkey took my wallet... may I have it back please?"Not moving a muscle, the black feathered raven in costume just leans onto his cane with both hands and his hat tilted over his eyes, his pointy beak protruding like a weapon. Ever so slowly he reaches with his white glove into the pocket at the inside of his vest, pulling out her wallet between two fabric covered fingers:"You mearn thirs thing?"

Nodding softly but not moving herself, Dana confirms the question:"Yes. May I have it back please?" and she extends her hand. The somewhat less threatening but still frightening figure pretends to look at the object in his hand and then chuckles in a somewhat forceful way:"Irs mine nowr, Irs found irt."Feeling her frustration and anger rise above her reason, Dana storms forward with angry thread:"If you don't give me back my wallet this instant, so help me God I will tear this place down!"Those same sparkling lights appear over the raven's head and with an amazing jump he shoots right up into the black shadow of the roof of the tent, uttering a mechanical croaked laugh.

Completely freaked out and struck with shock, Dana runs for the entrance of the tent and loses all her anger as it gets replaced with frigid cold fear creeping up her spine. Her only thoughts are to get out of here alive, it all seems like a nightmare. Immediately three figures drop down from the darkness above and block her path, the raven in the middle and two others flanking him:"Nro wayr out rittle girrl!"One of his two companions lunges for the fragile lynx girl, storming over to her as if floating over the ground rather than walk with arms wide open and sharp claws bared. Dana musters all her will power, grabbing her little purse and swinging it as hard as she can, smacking her attacker to the side of his head and sending him tumbling into a puddle on the floor.

Not waiting, the second companion strikes, razing forward without moving his legs either and just hovering slightly over the ground as he nudges his head down, a large horn protruding the forehead. Dana is struck, the horn winging her and tearing a large rip in the shoulder of her shirt as she falls down. Her assailant shoots past her due to his speed and makes a wide turn back towards her for another strike, but this time she's prepared. The agile lynx girl jumps up when the figure storms back to her and delivers a powerful feline blow to his head with her claws before hitting something like cables mid air and tumbling to the side. Dazed and confused, she observes as her attacker seemingly is undaunted by having his head half ripped open, but standing unstable where he is. The reflecting lights above his head sparkle slightly again though fewer in number than before, and as if pulled like a rag doll, he lunges sideways towards the lynx.

Catching on, Dana the cat girl claws towards the sparkly lights and feels cable like objects snap as she does, her attacker finally falling face down into the sawdust of the stage and not moving a muscle anymore. Heavily breathing as the adrenaline courses through her veins, she turns back towards the raven, shouting:"What the hell is going on? What are you?"The raven remains motionless for a few more moments before reaching up and taking off his hat, revealing something that Dana never has witnessed before and is so horrible she feels like she's going to throw up. Lifeless black beads are sown into the avian's eye sockets and his body seems fragile like parchment, the dusty old feathers look like he's been laying in an attic for over a hundred years. His beak discolored over many decades of neglect, the raven appears to be dead. Like a gentleman, the raven reaches his gloved hand into his pocket and retrieves a frilly ancient yellow handkerchief:"Neerd a tissrue, rittle girrl?"

The voice does not come from the direction of the dead raven this time, but from a close distance behind Dana. The fur over her whole body rises in unimaginable fear as she turns around and wanders her eyes over the massive mountain of hairy limbs and bodies. Towering over her in the faint light of the oil lamps, a gigantic hairy spider with incredible long legs with many joints, looks down upon her with his many, many white lifeless eyes. All over his body and upper legs are the bodies of thousands of anthro people neatly spun and tied up, attached to him and increasing him in his mass. All their eyes are replaced with black beads and his entire form including their bodies are covered in a thick layer of dust.

"Rittle girrl, come tro pray, rittle girrl, my dericiousr prrey."The many gigantic legs come into motion and move the huge mass of spider and bodies around the audience seats surrounding the circus stage, settling in front of the entrance and therefor blocking the only exit. Little clouds of dust fall off the gargantuan body with every step, the heads of the many dead he carries all shake and nod with every vibration as well. The enormous spider extends two long legs in front of himself and again the sparkly reflecting lights are visible as the raven moves with the spider's movements. Finely spun but very strong lines attach the dead puppet to his master's will, "Rittle girrl withr meat so youngr and frresh, you shourld have stayred home. Home withr the firreplace and parrent's warrmth."

The mountain of limbs and bodies raises itself slightly into the air as the spider's lower body hunches forward, Dana screaming out as she's hit with a few silken threads that are as strong as steel. Falling to the ground, she's dragged towards the spider and then he cuts the spun cables, starting to weave something around her body with his many legs wriggling frantically as he does:"Rittle girrl forr collectionr, need somethingr nice tro wearr. Nice puppret."As he spins Dana around between his legs, a crudely woven Victorian styled dress emerges, the spider refining it with each passing second until it looks like a very valuable piece of clothing. Dana struggles and screams for help, but it is futile, the gigantic front legs of the spider tapping her body and extending thin cables very much like those she saw on the other dead people.

With a tug, the helpless crying lynx girl is pulled to her feet and suspended in the air in front of the hairy enormous spider like a rag doll. With a slightly hissing, almost soothing sound, the huge arachnoid taps her mouth with the tip of his large leg, dabbing some silk onto her lips which prevent her from yelling or speaking:"Dorn't crry, rittle girrl. Arll is werll and funr in thre cirrcussss..."The giant mass of walking death starts to ascend to the blackness of the roof of the circus tent along with his new prey, his many jaws drooling and leaking in anticipation as finally the tent flaps open and the crowd is lead inside to take their seats. Voices of many cheerful anthros fill the large hollow room and all Dana can do is silently cry her tears as she is engulfed in the embrace of death, the smell of it, the stench of it, the sight of it all around her as she feels the gargantuan bringer of death soothe her again. His jaws close around her middle and the pain of his bite overwhelms the lynx girl in all its excruciating horror, "Donr't worrrry anymorre rittle girrl, you havre new famiry now..."

And with a last deep breath and exhale, she tastes the ancient dust in her mouth, the taste strangely bittersweet as she feels the predator inject her with his venom, the cheerful sounds beneath her dying out and the world turns black for ever more before her eyes. "Goodbye mom... goodbye dad... I will miss you..." linger in the poor girl's last conscious thoughts before her mind falls in a restful sleep.
