A Trainer's Tale Chapter 9: Gym Leader Wattson "Begin Round 1!" Right now Ian was at the Mauville Gym and had drawn quite a crowd. He was excited: If he won this he'd get his 3rd badge! For the first round he was going to be using Dean, the second hopefully Dean again and the last, Jessica. "Magnemite, Use SonicBoom!" Wattson Cheered "Dean, Counter with Psybeam!" Ian screamed As the SonicBoom barely left the Magnemite as the ray went to the Electric-type and hit it to the ground. "Magnemite, use Thunder Wave!" But it wasn't getting up. It had fainted! Did he get this right? Did he take it out in one hit? "Amazingly, Ian is the winner! Battle two will commence in 5 minutes!" A few kids asked for an autograph, saying he was 'Better than Red himself!' and a few asking him for a picture. After a few minutes, the battle started up again "Begin Round 2!" "Voltorb, Use Rollout!" Wattson said as the pokemon smashed into Dean. "Dean, get up and use Psybeam." Dean then used the ray and smashed the Voltorb against the wall "Okay, Voltorb, If he lands another hit you're down. so just finish him off with..." "Self Destruct!" "Dean! use- Wait, he's going to use Self Destruct! Just avoid him!" Ian yelled, unfortuantly for naught as Dean was shot to the side. "Battle two is a tie! Battle three will commence in 5 minutes!" Soon the battle began, This time With Jessica vs. the Magneton. "Magneton, Start this off with Supersonic!" The buizel was then hit to the ground "Okay Jessica, show them what you got with Aqua Jet!" Ian commanded. The water then shot out and hit Magneton, managing to Critical it. "Okay Magneton, Try ThunderWave!" Wattson yelled "While its getting it ready, finish this off with Surf!" Jessica then finished it off with the wave. "With Wattson having no more Pokemon available, Ian is the winner!" The referee yelled. The audience went wild as Wattson ran over to Ian in a cheerful manner. "That was amazing, my boy! No wonder they've been saying you're a 'Master Trainer'! Now." Wattson said as he stood still and got a mock-serious face "Now, I present you with... The Mauville Gym badge: The Dynamo badge!" Wattson kept up with a serious tone until the mention of the Dynamo badge. Ian took the badge and thanked the Gym Leader repeatedly.
Leaving, Wattson yelled to him "Oh! Take this, my boy!" The energenic man yelled tossing him a TM: TM34, or, RockSmash!
Soon Ian was sitting in the Pokecenter with Elizabeth waiting for the patch-up on Dean and Jessica. Right now he and Elizabeth were playing Poker with a pack of cards he bought in Slateport. "Two Aces" Ian said with a smirk. Over time he'd taught Elizabeth (And only Elizabeth) to play poker because Jessica kept eating the cards and Dean had a strange obsession to put all the cards in ordered piles. Elizabeth gave a face of dissapointment. "Oh... all i got is... Two Kings! Ha!" Elizabeth said as he gave her a Poffin for winning. She munched on it happily as he looked out the window. As he looked out, He saw a trio come through the doors. "-You'll get better buddy, you just need to-" Brandon stopped as he noticed someone setting in the pokecenter. He was about to yell hey until May beat him. "IAN! Hey!" May yelled as the three ran over to him quickly. "We heard you beat Wattson!" May continued "Yeah! Me and May are gunna go take him on!" Brandon said as Wally looked up for a second "Y-Yeah.. I'm going to- I'm going h-home with my Uncle...." Wally said as Ian questioned him "Why?" "I-Uh I lost to Brandon and-" "Wally, You can't go home! I've seen you battle, And i think you're great! Go and tell your Uncle and put your foot down!" Ian yelled. He didn't want to have Wally's dreams crushed. "You- You're right!" Wally yelled running off to his Uncle Soon Ian began to notice something- Wally was just opening the door. Simple enough, but he wasn't moving- He wasn't dead, he just was in a pose opening the door. Looking around, He saw Brandon and May just standing there, frozen just like Wally. Elizabeth was still collecting the cards not noticing everything. But the difference was, she was moving. "Elizabeth?" He asked "Hmm?" she asked dreamily "Uh... Why is anyone moving?" She asked, looking around. "That would be me." A voice exclaimed Ian and Elizabeth both looked at the direction of the voice. What they saw was... odd. It was a thin, about 30-year old man. He had a kind-of flat face. Brown eyes, brown hair and lastly he was wearing... A suit. "Let me answer that question" he said, almost as if reading their minds "I am known as Ivan. I have stopped everyone in the area because I couldn't get you two alone without being noticed. Now, let me explain my motives." Ivan said. He had a calm tone but never one that expressing emotion "I'm here because of you" he said, pointing at Ian. "Me?" "Yes you. I'm here to bring you to him" He said in his monotone voice. Before Ian could even answer, something interrupted Ivan, leave this boy ALONE! a psychic voice called out- Wait! it was the girl! Stop this right now. He still has two weeks left. You've been ordered to let the human be until then! She mentally yelled "Fate, I'm doing whats logical. The month given is wasted time. I was created to be efficient." Ivan stated blankly. He had a very strange pace, his sentence almost like bullet-notes Right now Elizabeth was on Ian's lap, turned away from the scene and had her face in her stomach. Ian could hear her wimper and swore he felt tears on his shirt. I hope she's taking this better than me.... We're going to die! This strange man is going to kill us! But at least i'll die with him... Maybe i should tell him. These were our last moments together.... No, not in front of this man... Maybe when we die. Maybe. But what if he dies and i don't? I'd go to the 'Great beyond' and grab him back myself! Hell knows no fury as a woman scorned!!! You've been given VERY specific orders. Leave or i will do something i'll regret the voice, Fate, said with an anger "Very well" Ivan said before disappearing with the next blink of Ian's eye. As suddenly as it began, It stopped. He saw Wally push the door open and May and Brandon continue to talk like nothing happened. Ian and Jessica were dazed and collected Jessica and Dean before heading back to their Hotel room. Elizabeth and Ian decided to tell the other two of the scene (to which at first they thought they were joking). The meeting scared Ian. Right now, he just needed to distract his mind from it. They all spent the day with Brandon and May, shopping and just having fun. It helped quell his worrying but not by that much. After having an exciting day, saying their goodbyes and checking out of the hotel, Ian headed out for the road. After traveling on the road, he made it to Route 111 and was camping on the borders to Route 112. The gang was all eating supper made of Chowder. "So, what do you think they meant by 'Two Weeks'?" "I think it... It means... I don't know. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Right now, lets go over how we're going to battle Flannery." Ian said wanting to stop talking about it. The group discussed it, laughing and making jokes the entire time. They soon all finished their food and went to bed.

Okay, so thats the chapter. I've begun to notice how much i've been using things from final fantasy in the story: Biggs and Wedge, Witt's appearance (which i imagine is like Irvine from FF8), The whole time-stoppage thing like the opening of Kingdom hearts 2, Etc. Anyway, chapter 10 will be the battle in Lavaridge town against Flannery.
